Syndicate lightly smiled. "Ah I see. Nomads are rather interesting. They don't have to be tied down to one place or pony in a way." He paused for a moment in his speech. "Although sometimes I wonder if they wish the opposite sometimes." He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "Well that's awfully kind of you to do that for him. Is that another reason why we got the feathers?"

"Well it's as good a reason as any, I find, for us to visit him and for him to teach you how to use weapons," she said brightly. "I wouldn't want to be a nomad, I'm very set in my ways, I like my tea in the morning and my bed in the same place as yesterday."

Syndicate smiled a bit. "I see. I can totally understand that as well. It's nice to come home and be able to have your bed in the same place instead of having a place to crash for each night." He shrugged a bit before continuing on with the conversation. "I don't mean to be awkward, but what type of tea do you like or do you have a favorite?"

"I..." Hasanna blushed. "I like green tea," she said quietly. "It's not my favourite, I like the plain kind, out of a teabag. The complicated ones just don't taste properly to me. It's not all that pretty and sophisticated, but..."

Syndicate cocked his head to the side. "Really? Green tea is pretty refreshing." He watched as she blushed. "Um...I hope I didn't strike anything uncomfortable for you to talk about." He paused for a moment. "Most tell me I need to try and make more conversation. So I thought I could get to learn more about you, if you don't mind. Or not...whatever makes you comfortable is fine with me."

"No it's not that," said Hasnnah hurriedly. "But I sometimes feel like I am not as ... ladylike as I ought to be sometimes. Sometimes I like plain or cheap things, and I know I ought to like stupidly expensive things. I don't know how to say it properly... I'm expected to like things that make me look... upper class." She sighed prettily.
"Looks like we're close," she said, pointing down a valley where she could see a domed tent with smoke rising through a central hole.

Syndicate walked over towards Hasanna. "Don't worry about it. Sometimes simpler things are better. I mean fancy stuff is nice and all, but sometimes the best things aren't upper class." He paused for a second and scratched his chin. "Although I would probably be considered lower class to tell you the truth."
He watched as she pointed to where they were. "Really? This will be interesting then. What type of personality does this Raider have?"

"I don't think a dragon could be low class," said Hasanna seriously. "Even the most scurrilous cur of a dragon would still find social stature somewhere, and be the better for his breeding." She smiled weakly at Syndicate. "Classes aren't always the fairest things in the world. The worthiest of us are crushed, while the worst of us are lauded."
She cleared her throat as they approached the tent. "Raider is... a pony who prefers action to talk. He is very chivalrous towards women and a bit judgmental, especially towards men. I'm sure it will be fine."

Syndicate slightly smiled as Hasanna gave, what seemed to be to him, a compliment. "Thanks I guess. That must be why my grandfather was so well known then." He stopped himself short as he they approached the tent. "That is quite an unfair system. Almost reminds me of the drows in a way, but they are really harsh."
It was nice to know what he was getting into when Hasanna told him about Raider. That way he wouldn't offend him and since he wanted to show his appreciation he thought he would be on his best behavior. "Ok if you say so." He watched the tent waiting to see who would enter first. He definitely didn't want to be the first to go in since it was rude in his mind to be the first one in.

"Raider, it's me, Hasanna," called Hasanna a few steps away from the tent flap. "I've brought someone here to learn swordsmanship from you." There was no answer, but the tent flap rippled, like someone had snorted in disgust. "I also brought feathers to make you something nice!"
The tent flap tore open and an extremely hairy pony emerged. "Hasanna," he said in a low voice. He nodded to her. "Your friend?"
"This is Syndicate," explained Hasanna. "I think it would be great if he could learn from you! I could sit here and make you something nice for your tent while you do it."
Raider immediately fetched two sticks and propped the tent flap up with them to create a small awning and set a rug on the ground for her to sit on.
"Thank you," said Hasanna brightly. She settled herself down and went to work with the feathers she had brought from Magina's.
"Welcome," said Raider, looking at Syndicate for the first time. He handed Syndicate a blade and took one for himself. "I normally do not teach outsiders, but if Hasanna would care for it... We will begin by you taking that sword and killing me with it."

Syndicate was surprised when he got a look at Raider. He never saw a pony that had massive amounts of hair and horns like that. He was going to say something, but he didn't want to come across rude to Raider since he got the feeling that he might not trust him 100%. "Alright thank you, but I must ask if I kill you wouldn't Hasanna be upset that you were dead? Or are you speaking figuratively?"

Raider snorted derisively, glaring with anger at Syndicate as though for Syndicate to say that he could kill Raider was a ridiculous insult.
Hasanna looked up from arranging the feathers. "I would be upset, but if you think I brought you here to train with someone you're u could kill, you're underestimating me."

Syndicate realized he was sounding rather arrogant and he could tell just by Raider's body language that he wasn't amused. "Alright then. I'm sorry about my words. Perhaps action is better at this time." He picked up the sword before picking it up and circling Raider. He studied him up a bit before going in to land a blow to see what he would do.

Raider stood, waiting for the blow to land, then, when Syndicate had committed his weight to the blow, stepped aside. The sword carved a wound into the ground. "Too slow. Big swings like that are slow, best for when you fight multiple attackers, who are hampered by each others' presence, or when your opponent is incapacitated. Try something else. Think 'fast- fast- fast'."
Hasanna admired Raider's footwork. Really, if he hadn't been a fighter, he would have made an amazing dancer.
