 (Wicahpi)
"Of course, Father," Wicahpi answered, hoping his voice sounded braver than he felt. He looked to his other sister and her friend, swallowing as he shook out his wings. He wasn't a very strong flyer; and neither was Siebel. But Mirari seemed confident enough in her ability to fly; she had learned well from her father.
"I'll go get some blankets or cloth," he volunteered, immediately heading to the little thicket the herd kept their supplies.

Ami frowned at Sequoyah's orders. He had asked both Mirari and Wicahpi to scout up to the mountain? Wicahpi was so young, and her kirin hooves pawed at the ground nervously. That wasn't to say she wasn't proud - she was very proud! But this was her only child and her heart thumped in his chest as she worried about him.
She looked to Xandir, the back to Sequoyah and steeled her nerves. It was the right call.

Dahlia also looked surprised at Louvre's sudden bought of courage. She looked between him and her mate, Versailles and nuzzled him again for comfort. Xandir was staying, but Sequoyah was going to go.
"Daddy," she said in a weak voice, stepping forward. "Please, be careful. It looks dangerous."

Calligraphy continued to stay silent. Her eyes continued to stare up at the mountain; hoping that she could get some kind of sign that Onibi Storm would be okay. She opened her mouth to say something, but bit her tongue. How could she possibly ask her father - to ask about a specific Soquili no one even knew she knew.
She had to make a decision.
"I'm coming to," she finally said - her voice deep and velvety.

Candy Striper couldn't help but a proud smile crack over her face. He wanted her to help! She was going to help people! Nothing made her happier. When Sequoyah asked her to get her supplies, she nearly jumped to attention.
"Yes, sir!" she squeaked, hurrying off to her little stash of herbs and medicines, quickly packing her little medicine pouch she kept on her at all times.

Mirari felt a breath escape her throat when he called her name. She instinctively fluttered her wings, stretching them out. She looked between her two fathers, Sequoyah and Xandir, honored that they trusted her to help. "Yes, father," she agreed, giving a nod.
"Let's get blankets now," she said to her other winged herd mates.

Siebel's chest puffed up in pride, excited to be trusted with such an important missions. "Yes, sir," she said back to her Herd Leader. Her eyes darted to her father, Vasile.
"I'll be fine, Daddy," she assured him as she followed Mirari over to the supplies, nosing around for blankets.

Sumi-e eyes four eyes blinked in surprised when his normally silent daughter, Calligraphy, spoke up. She wanted to come? There was an odd mix of pride and anxiety that filled up in his chest, and he looked at her seriously.
"Daughter, are you sure?" he asked, his four dense red eyes searching hers for truth. Perhaps it was his natural intuition, or the fact that it was his own flesh and blood, but there was something telling him that she had ulterior motives. "This could be dangerous," he said seriously.
That being said, he would respect whatever decision his daughter made. If she wanted to come, if she really wanted to make that kind of a difference, then he would respect her decision.
He nipped at her mane, tucking a loose strand behind her ear. "You are very brave," he added. "That makes me proud." It was true, and though she wasn't as big and tough as him, he was happy to see her step up.

Vasile glanced at his leaders, before trotting off to follow his daughter. "Seibel," he called to her. He trotted by side her and frowned, pawing at the ground as he tried to find the words he wanted to say. "Are you sure about this?" he asked, his eyes searching hers. "Its not that I'm not proud of you, of course, I'm just worried..." He walked with her the rest if the way to the supply thickets where Seibel and the others were rooting around for blankets. "But I am proud of you," he clarified. "For doing this." He bit down on his lips and watched her, watching her expression. What was he trying to do? Convince her to stay" Doubt her abilities? Truth be told, he wasn't so sure himself. Seibel's mother and other siblings didn't live int he Valley Herd with him; so she was all he had. Well, not all he had, but she was more important to him that he probably let on, especially to her.

Louvre heard the disbelief in Versailles voice and planted his hooves firmly in the ground, holding his head high. "Yes, of course I'm sure," he said, hoping he didn't sound as scared as he felt. "I'll be fine, I'll help watch over Candy so she can focus on helping anyone that's hurt." He wasn't going to run away from a fight; and isn't this what he wanted? Not people getting hurt of course, but some kind of action? What would it say about him if he just let it go? To be honest, he felt a bit responsible. LIke this was some kind of karmic shift; he wanted excitement and now Thunderbird Mountain was burning? He didn't -really- believe it, sure, but it must have been some kind of sign that he needed to step up and be more proactive with his life. He gave Versailles a squared look and nod and followed Candy to the supply thicket to help out.

Versailles could see the hurt on Louvre's face; that's certainly not at all what he meant. But this was serious stuff; something one shouldn't throw oneself into without the proper care and consideration. "I understand," he said to him, giving him a serious look as he leveled his gaze. "But please, be careful," he added seriously, watching him for several minutes as he followed Candy Striper over to the supply thicket. With a breath, he turned to look back at his mate, Dahlia, and nuzzled her. "Your father will be fine," he assured her. "Its a very brave and noble thing; you should be proud." He then went to Xandir and nodded at him. "How can I help down here?" he asked, knowing he wasn't just going to sit around; it he wasn't storming the mountain at the very least he could something to do. Maybe gather food or supplies; whatever his leaders wanted him to do.

(Wicahpi) Wicahpi joined the others in the supply thicket: there were several baskets full of preserved berries, park, flat leaves, blankets, feathers, discarded kirin scales, beads, and various other things the Soquili of the Valley Herd would use for trading and crafts.
"I'm proud of you, sister," he said to Mirari. "You sure you'll feeling up for this?" Wicahpi, although young, was a noble stallion and was already starting to get pumped about helping out. He hoped no one was hurt, of course, but if he could be a help that would be very fulfilling for him.
He pulled a blanket out of one of the baskets and held the bottom of it on the ground with his hoof, while pulling back with the corner in his mouth, ripping it into a strip. Pleased with himself, he went back and did it again, making several bandana sized pieces of cloth they could use for rags.
He watched as the others helped out as well, before taking them to the stream to get them wet. "Good idea, Seibel."

Amitorlin walked over to Sequoyah, her mate, and nuzzled him. "Please be careful," she said softly; her voice was always meek and sounded like little bells on the wind. "I have a bad feeling about this; something bad happened up there. I don't want to lose you. And you're taking your two children... please watch after them."
It wasn't that she didn't trust him; but he was no warrior stallion. He was just, as far as she considered him, just a stallion. Kind and warm-hearted; of course he was! That's why he was doing this after all - concern for his mother and her family and probably even the Brutish Balrog who banished him from his own home so many years ago.
But the thought that he would risk his life for them didn't sit right with her; she was greatly conflicted. As a kirin, she had no ability to stand the sight of anyone suffering. How could she deny that gift of empathy to her mate. Would that make her so selfish?

It was very rare that Dahlia felt old. In her mind's eye she was still barely more than just a little foal. She was usually so loving, naive, and carefree; a little Daddy's girl filly who was raised surrounded by love and peace and harmony.
But here, standing here now, looking at her father and her -grandchildren- planning to go and storm Thunderbird mountain. She had a mate. She had children. She had grand-children. How could she feel so old and so young at the exact same time?
Her motherly streak wanted to protect her children. Wanted to usher them away from this mess. To go hide in a thicket with them and nibble their manes and tell them everything was going to be okay. But the child in her wanted to run to her father and bury her face in Sequoyah's fur and Xandir's feathers and cry and ask them to tell her it will all be okay.
She settled for somewhere in-between, walking over to her mate, Versailles, and rested her head against his shoulder. "They will be okay, right?" she asked him. She wasn't really expecting an answer, she just wanted to believe everything was going to be okay.

She knew her father would have something to say about it; she had been anticipating it. "I'm sure, father," she said, her voice still soft and deep and textured. "We have a responsibility to help those in need, don't we? That's not only good for them, but good for our herd as well. We can make sure the fires and turmoil don't make it way back home."
She let herself give a little smile when her father tucked an inky strand of mane behind her ear. What she said was true. It was good for them to do, to be good members of the Kawani lands and Soquili as a whole. But of course, she secretly hoped she would come across Onibi Storm; that he would be okay and they would have a chance to see each other again soon.
That might be difficult after this, she suspected. As everyone was very likely going to be on high alert for a while. But that was only secondary right now; she would wait for him as long as she needed.
