"I didn't really think about an earth pony with special abilities enough to kill a dragon..." He looked around at the other ponies in the pavillion. They didn't look dangerous.
"You didn't know there are seryphs?" he asked, shocked. He blinked and looked down at himself. Was he something like a myth? "I know we're rare, rarer than dragons... My father is a seryph, and his fathers are seryphs. Apart from them and my twin sister and Shenevye in the town here, I haven't seen any, to be honest..."
"Well Vesuvia in the mountain releases poisonous gas when she's panicky," said Caster seriously. "Maybe she'd be invulnerable to poison. It stands to reason; it's her sister who has poisonous webs. I think sibling abilities often complement each other."
"I'm sorry to hear it," said Caster after listening to her family's history. He frowned a little. He couldn't imagine never seeing any of his brothers again. Milfoil was a self-absorbed insane academic who was always dirty, Blake was semi-villainous in his powers and Haradrin was basically a moving doormat who left handmade craftgoods in his wake but... he loved them all and if he never saw one again, he'd feel like a bit of him was missing. Maybe it was because, despite Caster being an angry, titchy, maladjusted magical failure, they loved him as well.
"No, I don't think you're antisocial at all," said Caster quietly. "It must be lonely, though."

Bree nodded her head. "Yeah, but for the most part it's not that common since most either use weapons or the type of magic they use doesn't have a strong effect."
Bree paused for a moment before starting up again. "No to tell you the truth you're the first I met. I guess I never really got to know too many ponies even though I've been traveling for quite some time. It would be nice eventually to call somewhere a home again." She stopped for a moment. "It's alright. My family is just a bit messed up. That's all. Some were nice, others not so much. They wouldn't hesitate to kill anything that moved in their territory besides other dragons of the clan." She quickly swapped the subject yet again.
"Vesuiva? Oh so she's a part drow as well then?" She looked down a bit sad for a moment. "Only drow I ever ran across had an attitude issue. He was so grouchy and hated anyone or anything living talking to him. Poor guy..." She looked back up quickly switching the subject.
Bree continued to eat her food till she was finished. She rubbed her stomach. "Um...I think I might of ate a bit too much." She shook her head. "At least I won't go hungry!" She then looked around. "So do we pay the bill or tip here?"

Caster couldn't imagine anyone so vicious as to attack anything that wasn't a dragon. He knew his grandmother was pro-dragon but she wouldn't have killed anyone else... she even kept her grandaughter, Hasselti in the mountain, despite being an earth pony! And she definitely, definitely loved Caster and he wasn't a dragon.
"Drow, and you said that was a clan? A family?" he asked. He hadn't really heard the name before speaking to Bree. "I don't know, actually. She doesn't talk a lot. I know she's descended from the Golden dragon, Meridian, but he got around so, that's not much of a help... I know she has Hasselti, her sister, and another earth sister and there's a dragon male who looks a lot like her but black and blue instead of black and red... does that narrow it down?" he asked uncertainly.
Caster looked at his own plate. There wasn't much left but he couldn't eat anymore of he wouldn't fly. "No, we don't pay," he said. "We just have to pay it forward, or do something nice in here, eventually." He looked around. "I think I should stretch my legs. Did you want to go somewhere after this? Want to walk and talk?"
He noticed the floor was a bit grubby and, felling he should really contribute more since he'd brought a guest, he stacked up all the dishes and took them to the counter. Then, he went into the nearest cupboard and drew out a broom before returning to his seat to make sure it was tucked in.

"Yeah the drow are a big type of family although they seem to be pretty mean as well. They use males for slaves or breeding crop only if they are born or they get killed. I think that's what Syndicate told me." She paused for a second. "Oh! I didn't know he had siblings. He's a black dragon with blue spiderwebs, white hair, and bright red eyes." She paused for a second. "Although I guess some ponies have secrets they would rather not tell a stranger and I can respect that. I just hope I haven't been annoying you at all with my rambling. Sometimes I tend to do that."
Bree wiped the plate with a napkin a bit being a bit of a cleanly nerd until she realized that Caster was ready to go. "Oh yes. That sounds lovely." She paused for a moment. "Paying it forward huh? I wonder what I could do?" Bree thought to herself for a moment. "I don't think trapping someone in an illusion is a good idea." She sighed disappointed. "I can make fake flowers that disappear, hence an illusion. Perhaps that's why I like live flowers instead of a hallucination."

"Hmm! That's probably Vesuvia's brother, then, he sounds like the one I heard about. The dragon clan is very big on family trees, my brother, Haradrin, has made a tapestry with small pictures of the family members, but he had to imagine a few ponies from what people said."
Caster shook his head. "It's kind of nice to talk. Usually I'm just practising all the time, my magic, you know, and then I get annoyed and-" the brief imagining of his annoyance brought it out again and he scowled. A rose burst out of the handle of the broom. Caster bit down his immediate 'SON OF A-' retort, ripped the rose off and tossed it to Bree. Girls like flowers, right?
Caster smiled at her last words- obviously she liked flowers so it didn't worry her that it was EXTREMELY GIRLY that he just kept popping flowers out. He continued sweeping until he swept the dirt out the door onto the grass. "No, I think illusions are a bit too high brown for this place. Maybe you can find something in your travels and bring it here for the donation box. A pretty stone or a strange coin, and then someone else can use it to make a decoration or something." He put away the broom.
"Where would you like to go?"

"They sure do sound big if they have to keep a huge record." Bree paused for a moment. "My record is gone pretty much. Most of my family died out, except my brother." She switched the subject so quickly, because she did not want to depress Caster anymore than she could seem to be.
"Oh thank you." Bree braided the rose into her hair. "There we go! Now I'm slightly more fashionable...or so I hope. Honestly I have no clue and I don't care. Fashion is so different depending on where you live." Bree lightly laughed a bit. "Although I must admit I do like flowers, but you already knew that from the time we met."
She cocked her head to the side as she thought about something she could give. "Oh! I got an idea! We can go to my one den or actually it's more like my hoarding area." She looked down a bit embarrassed. "It's not like I try to, but I have either received or bought trinkets of some value to me or others." Bree paused for a moment. "Would you be alright with that? That way I can give this place something nice. I'm sure something there would do nicely in this place." She squinted her face for a moment. "Although I must admit, someone recently gave me a Mandrake plant and it sounds horrible! I never knew a plant could scream." She sighed. "Although I guess it must be worth something if the pony gave it to me."

Caster laughed awkwardly. "I think we have a family tree to stop us accidentally marrying our relatives... That has never happened!" he said hurriedly.
Caster smiled wanly. "I don't know about fashion, but my brothers and I would..." he looked away awkwardly. "We used to braid roses into our dragon brother's mane... He got so used to it," his voice lowered to an embarrassed mutter, "that he still has roses in his mane..."
"I think going to visit your cache would be a great idea," said Caster. "I don't have anything else on today." He felt a lot calmer talking to Bree, he had barely made any random roses appear that day. And he was keeping his temper very well.

Bree nodded her head. "I can understand that." She continued to listen to him as he talked about his brothers. "Well I'm sure he looks nice. Flowers look nice on everything to tell you the truth."
Bree walked out the door and sniffed the air. "Well I wanted to bring something back as well. I just don't feel right not paying for the delicious meal." She thought for a moment. "Honestly I'm still stumped on what to offer, but I'm sure if I see something I can offer it." She was going to mention to him that she wanted to give him something as well, but wasn't sure if she should mention it right away, besides it could be a surprise.
"Well it's this way. It's on the border of Nightmare and Dream. I guess I never knew which valley I preferred so I always put it in the middle till I decide. Which might not ever happen. There seems to be good things in both valleys as far as I'm concerned." Bree stretched out her wings before taking to the sky and heading off expecting Caster to follow.

Caster followed Bree, staying out of the slipsteam she created with her much broader, stronger wings. He could glide very well and people liked to watch Caster fly, saying it was very pretty to watch, but he wasn't the fastest, certainly not as fast as his dragon relatives.
"It sounds like a nice place," he told her as he settled into place up and to the left of Bree.

Bree was looking all over the area trying to make out landmarks that pointed the way. "It is rather nice. Normally I wouldn't say all dragons hold their stereotypes but me and Syndicate do tend to collect things. I guess since we're both lonely in a way with no company we collect memories so that if the pony leaves we will always at least remember when we look at the items." She hesitated a bit. "Or at least that's my reason for collecting. His might be different."
After a couple miles of flight she found one of the caves high up on the mountain. "Ah! There it is! I always preferred high places anyways. More of a challenge for other ponies in case they decide to thieve from me." She touched down. "That wasn't too far was it?" She then went up to the door and put her claws into the lock before twisting it. Her claws glowed a bit as they released the final lock that was sealed with magic before the door swung open. "There we go. Like I said I don't want thieves coming around here and stealing. Only opens on my command."

"That sounds..." began Caster but all he could think of was 'sad' so he said, instead, "...logical." He landed beside her on the mountain.
"This looks like some place they used to tell me about, the mountains by the Mirror Ruins."
Caster put his hoof on the lock to examine the spell. "That's true," he said. he didn't mention that, though the spell was laid with skill and the lock was ingenious, the door itself would give faster than the lock. Maybe she would have her place safe from normal ponies, but a dragon with a special kind of talent would have it down in an instant. He didn't say it, though. Besides, the fact that it was secret would keep it safe.
He had successfully probed the spell, though, which was a step ahead for him. Usually, he would have been able to sense the spell existed and maybe who had cast it, before roses burst out everywhere.

Bree walked inside not noticing that Caster knew about the magic that sealed this area or of what it contained. She was just oblivious to it. "Well I guess it could be considered logical." Bree looked through all the trinkets and items she had collected. "Well let's see. What can I give?" She glanced for a moment over to her riches side. "I got a couple gems and amulets that power up your magic. Although I don't know if that is appropriate for a restaurant."
She continued to look around. She was also trying to find something Caster would like just to show her gratitude. The dragon glanced over each object trying to figure out what would fit, but nothing seemed to quite catch her eye. "I remember some of these dolls. I used to play with them when I was younger. I guess they just collect dust now." She continued to glance all over the area before laying eyes on a music box.
Bree walked over to it before winding it up. "Well I think I could give this away. Do you want it or do you think I should give it to the store?" Bree paused for a moment. "It's best if someone else takes it because this is also from when I was probably a teen and honestly the last birthday present I received." She shut the music box not wanting to hear anymore of it. "Besides, it's a memory I want to forget anyways."

Caster walked in after Bree and looked around at all the things arrayed around the cave. "I'm fairly sure the only magic Heketoro uses in the restaurant is spices and secret recipes."
Caster saw the dolls and looked them over. "They're nice. I didn't really have a lot of toys. I suppose we just did other things."
Caster listened to Bree explain about her music box. "Oh," he said quietly. "Well I don't think I'd want anything that makes you so unhappy... Maybe Heketoro might like it? He could put it on as a centrepiece... or something."

Bree cocked her head at Caster. "You never had any toys?" She thought for a moment. "Actually I guess I can understand that. Not every pony ends up with toys. There are other fun things to do and games. I always preferred hide and go seek since it wasn't too competitive. I never liked tag or competitive sports."
She wrapped up the music box in some paper so it could look like a nice present for the store. "Sounds good to me. If you don't want it then I'll gladly with no second thought hand it over." She continued to look around her room. "Um I know this might sound awkward, but if you see something you like, feel free to tell me since I would like to give you something too for this rose, sharing food with me, and being great company." She looked back at the amulets. "I would give you those, but I don't know if it would make your rose condition be more prominent." She thought for a second. "Although you might be able to sell them for a good price."

"My brothers and I used to play together and then when my magic began to... be a problem," he grimaced, "I was sent to have lessons with Eerinna down in the Ice Palace. Her magic isn't quite the same as mine but it's similar. Her magic is Goblin magic because she's a princess." He realised he was bragging a little and shut his mouth like a trap. He was proud that his teacher was a skilled enchantress who lived in a palace.
Caster smiled at Bree warmly. He didn't want to take any of her treasures, but he thought it was very kind of her to share with him and so he didn't refuse her offer. It seemed very poor spirited to do so. He laughed shortly when she mentioned selling his roses. "The ponies who live near me come and take them away. They've done it since I started uncontrollably growing them. When I was a kid it made it seem like it wasn't so bad. Roses came but people liked them and I didn't have to look at them." He sighed quietly. "Maybe ponies aren't that bad," he said.
He looked around at Bree's things. "I have no idea what half of these things would be or be used for," he said, slowly. Then he turned back to her, the smile of a sudden idea on his face. "Maybe you can think about it for a while, choose something that fits me later and I can have a kiss for now?" He grinned at her cheekily. He expected to be rebuffed but he really wouldn't mind a kiss and it would be nice to hang out with Bree again.
