Chel's respect for Ripley only seemed to increase the more she talked with him. "Dunno who Taym is," she said, blocking his hit and taking a long, breatht sigh. "But that's real brave of you. 'As what loyalty is to me. Pickin' what's right not who you're gonna bow your head to." She wiggled her wrist a little and said, "Guess this says I'm wrong though, eh?" She held up her dagger once more, taking a defensive stance. Ripley was pushing himself, but Chel never decided things for other people. She had no right to tell him to stop when she herself was heaving with most of her movements. "You doin' anything for Halloween?" A few blinks and then, "The holiday, I mean." He agreed that it was brave, but he also agreed with his new opinion on the matter: it was stupid. Horribly stupid. But, he somehow figured that if he had the chance to do it over again, he'd probably make that same mistake. It was one of his many personal flaws.
"I was wrong when I wore it, too." A small pause. "What happened?" Though as she went to the subject of Halloween: The Holiday, he shook his head.
"Nothing." Just like he did every year. He stayed home, or worked, or both, and maybe had a drink with himself, or maybe the one friend he had. Years ago he might have been stuck handing out candy to the handful of kids brave enough to approach their home, but, alas. He swung at her defence, throwing more of his weight into the heft of the sword, and was somewhat pleased when he realized he had smashed through her defence, and finally hit her again.

"Don't worry about it," Chel said gruffly, indicating that no, she did not want to talk about it. She didn't owe Ripley or Finn (well no, she might have owed Finn a little after that night) anything, and there was no reason why she had to tell them. It was less a heroic resistance and more adequately described as hiding her ugly shame in the closet.
"Boooo," was what she thought of Ripley's Halloween plans. "You gotta do something, s'a ********' holiday man."
For one of Ripley's attacks, she was too slow and the dagger didn't come up in time, so instead the wrist took the damage. "Haven't decided yet. Probably gonna hit up whoever has the most booze or somethin'." Which was decidedly not attending any of Jack's birthday festivities.

"I'll fill you in later, if you want." Again, directed at Ripley, with no regard given to the woman who clearly wanted it to just be left alone.
But then, he added on, "That can be taken as a sexual innuendo if you want, this time."
More smiling.
He sort of hoped Chel would throw her other dagger at him again.

"If she doesn't want to tell me, I don't want to know." The comment was directed towards Finn, his tone hard with disapproval. Though he was curious, he didn't care enough to invade Chel's privacy with that. At least not yet. The bracelet could mean any number of things, but if it were immediately dangerous, he imagined something would have been said by now. It was a naïve hope of his, but one that he stubbornly clung to.
The alternative was too painful.
Besides, Chel was goading him into Halloween plans, and that was considerably more fun to think about.
"It's also apparently a whole world." Ripley countered thoughtfully, before continuing on as normal. "But, since you insist, I'll go drinking or something." Perhaps not with her, but hey, it was plans now, right? "Are you dressing up?" That was something people did on Halloween (The Holiday), right? The question was punctuated by a swing of Wilhelm, once to knock the defending blade aside, and again to swipe past her defenses. HP: 14/50 Damage: 9-4 = 5

"Yeah!" Chel cheered. "That's the spirit!" She then snorted and said, "Haw. Spirit. Get it?"
There was a slightly pause, Chel's mind having connected with what Finn said. If he knew, that could only mean Jack had told him. Why would Jack do that? Then again, it wasn't very fair of her to want to guard a very public (everyone in the infirmary had seen her, after all) secret. She would ask Jack later. Finn was very plainly ignored.
Ripley's discretion was something she was thankful for.
She shook her head at the question of costumes, focusing on that instead. "No I'm-" She yelped as his sword met with her shield, breaking down her shoddy defense. "Nice one. But no, I don't got a costume yet. I've got duties out the a** that day-" Which was something she'd planned. "So I'll just toss somethin' together when I go somewhere."

"Har, Har." Ripley deadpanned. Spirit, yes.
"Ah, well, you could always go as a homicidal maniac." He mused, recalling a movie he had seen in his youth that used a similar phrase. Chel had brought up her defenses again, and Ripley moved on the momentum of his last attack, this time swinging back towards her side, the sharp edge of the blade slicing through air and right through her guard. Finn wasn't too concerned with being ignored by Chel. He was fairly sure he'd managed to get under her skin a time or two anyways, and that was all he could really ask for. Ripley was graced with a shrug, and a muttered. "Suit yourself." Before he was back to just watching, not really saying anything, taking in their conversation silently.
There were several jokes he could have made on what he thought both Ripley and Chel could dress as, but he mercifully kept these comments to himself.

"A homi ... what?" Chel questioned. She wasn't aware of the reference.
Finn was looking way too self-assured, so she asked, "What're you sittin' over there laughin' to yerself about?"
Ripley left an opening too perfect for her not to take. Just as he swung his sword down, there was a moment or two of "lag" where he had to pick the sword back up. Later she would reminisce about how it was sort of like in Super Smash Bros. when link did his spin sword attack thing.
But right now she was grabbing Ripley's neck and using her height to force him to the ground, without even using her dagger. Her boot went to his chest and she said, "You gonna call uncle or am I gonna have to do it for ya?"

Suddenly, he was on the ground. He wasn't sure how it happened, at least not with any clarity, but he felt like he had been hit by a tonne of bricks - or, in this case, a malnourished looking female who packed a punch. Her foot was on his chest, making him flinch, but he eventually gave a small nod.
"Uncle." He said simply, before shoving her foot off of him and moving to sit up, dusting himself off before threading his gloved fingers through his currently dishevelled hair.
"You're going to need a stronger partner to practice with." He informed her easily, managing to keep the sullen tone from his voice. Well, he had tried, and he hadn't done too badly, he thought. It was fine for him, at least.

Chel's boot was easily removed because she didn't really want to keep it there. Ripley wasn't openly struggling and it wasn't like he needed to be kept down anyways.
She offered him a hand up (it was the least she could do). "Nah dude, you did just fine. Goal was to practice my new pointy sticks."
Finn was finally acknowledge now and she called to him, "Ey twinkletoes, your not-boyfriend needs you to do your thing."

Finn made a move, though it was only very slight, towards Ripley when he was knocked to the ground. He had thought that the man might be, for a moment, seriously injured, and perhaps he would have been, if not for his shield. However, a quick glance showed that he seemed relatively okay, and so, he instead took his time, rising smoothly from his crouched position to his feet, gaze sliding to the bag next to him before he bent down just enough to retrieve it, moving in the direction of both Ripley and Chel. A glance was shot at Chel before he was looking back at Ripley, smiling at him in a mostly pleasant (though of course cold) manner. "Hello. I am Finn, your personal healthcare companion! Please, allow me a moment to examine you." He dropped the bag by Ripley's feet (whether or not he was on them), and stared at him with that wide grin that said you got your a** kicked by a girl again. You suck.

"He's-" Ripley trailed off with a sigh, knowing it was futile. Finn was not his boyfriend, but it was different from not-boyfriend, which he was confident in. "Nevermind." He shook his head slowly. "Still, glad I could help, I guess."
Ripley then stared at Finn as he parroted...something. It sounded familiar, and very much so, but it was at the fringes of his mind, just out of reach.
"Pass." He insisted simply, and went to try and get to his feet. He didn't get too far before he lost his balance and ended up on his a** again, back in the sand. With a heavy sigh, he stayed there, and didn't try to get up a second time, at least not for now.
But he did shoot Finn a look that screamed <******** off.
