They pressed the attack almost immediately, to Ellale's surprise. She blinked as she watched Lloyd and Riyel go after Karas. She cast her eyes to Tae for a moment, looking for some sign of if they should jump in as well, but that matter was answered for her when Karas blew away the petals and cast a spell. "Look out!" It was probably far too late for her call to do anything as the green mass overwhelmed the area. She could feel the release of magical power even at a range from Karas, and it made her instinctively nervous. She knew she couldn't cast a spell like that. Ellale glanced to the side as she heard Nona's message through the device in her ear.

"Not exactly a-" She was cut off as time stopped around herself and Tae. It might have looked, for a moment anyways, like Ellale and Tae were frozen as the bolts shot in the claim their lives, until... Ellale's eyes narrow and she spun sharply. The frozen space in time warped, distorting as the petals around them from the tree turned into little blades like before and countered the assault. Ellale didn't waste any time in grabbing Tae and throwing the two of them to the side as more petals gathered. With a rather explosive force, petals surrounding the two and rushed out, countering the attack. "I can keep her from stopping time, but it's going to take a lot of focus and I'll be delayed by at least a second real time every time she does it." She was as much explaining this to Tae as to Nona through the device in her ear.

'Nona I don't think we can just ignore Ultimecia. She knows I can stop her magic." Ellale was trying to explain, rather quickly, that she didn't have the capability of fighting both Ultimecia and Karas, and one of those two very much wasn't about to let her go. Sure, it was probably possible for Tae to go after Karas, but would she leave her sorceress undefended? Though, the case could be made to if Ellale was undefended as she swung her hand in Ultimecia's direction, converting several petals in the air into thing blades that fired at the woman. Every time they impacted, they turned back into harmless petals, but so long as she could keep using them, she had some sort of defense.

Will have to add actual image later when PB isn't being a butt.
Tae wasn't disappointed as they managed to save their friends. A small smile appeared on her lips as Ellale joined her, taking the sword from her hand; once more to hold both her blades. ”If not put at least a dent in the situation. . . ” She didn't want to put their hopes up too high. Her gaze stared at the spot where the two had been standing. It was hard to tell what had happened to them.

Her gaze followed the two boys as they wasted no time in moving in once being freed. She gripped her swords more firmly. From the corner of her eyes she saw Ellale's gaze turn to her, but in that moment a light from a spell being cased lit up.

Her gaze moved away as if to shield her eyes from the blast. However, she was looking for the sorceress. As she spotted the woman the sound of Nona's voice entered her ear set. Nona wanted them to put more heat upon Karas instead of focusing their attention to the sorceress. Her mouth opened as Ellale attempted to voice her opinion on the matter when things seemed to slow down to a stop. Even her heart beat seemed to slow down from the sensation. Though, that was mostly in Tae's head. The feeling didn't seem to last long as Ellale countered the attack. Then the sensation of a tug then falling roughly against the roots as wind blew her hair and clothes. Ellale had saved them from being blasted by the attack Ultimecia threw at them.

Her heart beat seemed to speed up as well. Luckily she still held onto her swords and didn't injure either herself or Ellale in her fall. Sitting up she glanced at Ellale just to make sure she was indeed okay, though through her link as her Knight she could sense she was. Well, no more hurt than she was. Taking in a breath she gave a faint shake of her head. There was no way she'd leave Ellale alone to defend against the other sorceress. As Ellale explained things she gave a nod. That just proved she wouldn't leave Ellale unprotected. ”We'll have to attack them both. The two boys will just have to hold their own for now." She said to both Ellale and Nona. Her tone wasn't exactly giving either. Perhaps now wasn't the time to sit and argue what they were going do with and how they were going to do it, but this time she wasn't going to be bullied and pushed. She'd already lost most of her friends already, but she wasn't going to lose Ellale. Tae shifted her body so she was on her feet but kept low to the ground for easier movement and making herself less of a target.

Now and forever you are still the one
In my heart
So true , I believe I could never find
Somebody like you

All he heard was the rushing sound once more, his eyes closed at what he knew was going to come. His attacks had been true, damaging what had been around Karas but now he was going to pay for it. Gritting his teeth, he was blown away like a blonde rag doll, his body sailing through the air as it cracked against the side of the great tree and its many sprawling roots. The sound itself sounded sickening on its own but looking at Riyels charred body would show that the Ultima spell had done damage.

Ifrit and Elliot almost immediately showcased their concern to their companion, the feelings of worry and concern washing over Riyel's tired body as he stayed immobile for moment. It all just seemed so worthless, with the countless beat downs that they had dished to Karas, the b*****d just wouldn't give any ground to his assailants. Almost hopeless. Almost. The Unbroken would not stop. They hadn't caved in to any sort of challenge yet and would keep driving at the two powerful Magical entities and one or the other was dead. And that was what fueled them. What fueled Riyel. That primal sort of determination that superseded any sort of common sense or rationality. It had been his fuel for fire for years and it wouldn't stop now.

Slowly, Riyel came to a stand as his blurry vision captivated the sorcerer and sorceress while clearing up. His breath went from ragged to more rhythmic, becoming much more smoother and he could fully stand up.

Riyel Vicaria would not stop. Not until he was six feet under. He would not stop fighting. The air around him began to spiral as the temperature around him increased, the roots beneath his feet began to smolder as red energy began to spiral around his frame, his eyes narrowed as he looked at Karas. The junctions he had began to fully flow and increase as his muscles began to tighten and expand, the veins showing as he took the jacket off, it's burned material merely getting in the way. "You can't check a pawn, Karas. The king has yet to make his move."

It was apparent he was in limit break, this being the first time he'd ever done so. And as he launched forward, it was easy to tell the side effects. The ground which he tread cracked as he sprinted and almost seemed to steam. He wasn't as fast as his brother. He wasn't magically gifted like Nona. He wasn't overall talented at much really. But he was determined to see this through. His dedication to this cause would go until the end. "But this pawn will beat you!". Even if I had to sacrifice to do so..

He was on Karas in an instant, like his brother launching a massive assault of melee combinations, his attacks having a bite that he knew Lloyd's would not have. The assault was quick and precise as Riyel promptly backflipped, skidding backward as he grasped the Family Spear in his hands.

It would escalate quickly.

Riyel let loose a single, grand leap into the air as the immediate vicinity around him burst into a bright almost white flame as a roar akin to Ifrits sounded out from the roaring flames. The fire quickly moved into the spear, encompassing it as Riyels muscles tensed as he reared back, quickly releasing the weapon quicker than Lloyd had ever done, the grunt that came from The Ringer supporting it as it quickly shot into the ground barely a foot from Karas.

But it was apparent Riyel has not been aiming exactly at Karas. For as soon as it touched the ground, the white flame erupted into a dome, encompassing Karas with its might as it slowly began to expand, incinerating anything in its path as it grew for about ten more seconds, a low bass hum accompanying it as it slowly died down to reveal another crate at the hands of Riyel, whom seemed to almost be floating down from the sky with his veins still pulsing. "Double. Firaga" the air around Karas erupted in another blast of fire as a ring of flame erupted around the man to roast him, Ri landing and sprinting as he began to feel the effects of the battle...he'd need healed soon.

Song of the moment: E.M.A

No, not again! Green light roared and Lloyd saw his brother become engulfed once more before shooting back and his body impacting a root. It was for a moment, and only a moment that Lloyd saw his brother still and unmoving. The fear he felt in that moment gripped his very core. However, Riyel would not stay down for long and unleashed a grand display of power Lloyd hadn't even seen before. He stood in awe as the intense attack cresendo'd. He turned his gaze to the other end of the battlefield and the girls were engaging Ultimecia. He had to chose his target, and he was certain neither would let their current opponent go so easily.

Lloyd's own communicator came alive with Nona's voice and her orders. His eyes sharpened back to Karas and he made a decision. "Oye, Pretty Kitty and Tae you two focus on Ultimecia for now. I don't think she'll let you go now that she knows you're a threat. Nona help 'em out as much as you can but I got a feeling we may need a little healin'. Riyel and I will take care of the boy toy" that last part came out with a bit of an edge. Karas was standing in their way and they had to finish this. Lloyd clenched his fist and felt maximum hound had reached its final charge.

Lloyd bolted inward as fast as his legs would allow. Jumping and manoeuvring before leaping off of a root as the two Fira's boxed Karas in from an escape. His pupil's straightened as he focused the strike timing as best he could with the attack. He waited for his moment then moved in. His fist bolted forward, this time for Karas's chest. It's anti magic properties instantly creating a hole through the circling flames illuminating Lloyd like a demon out of hell.

Nona heard a familiar howl, and gritted her teeth as trails of green haze shot overhead. It was just clearing as she found a root to run up toward the base of the tree, getting high enough to see the battlefield and both sorcerers. The situation did not look good. Riyel was down…No, not just yet. He was getting up as she watched. And she knew the look of a man at his limit. Now was the time.

Feeling the surge of speed in her, Nona threw out a hand toward Ultimecia again. ”Draw,” she said coldly, as Riyel began to smolder. And as he launched forward, she pointed toward Karas.

”Slow.”

Riyel launched into his assault as a multitude of silver motes swirled from Nona to Karas. It wouldn’t last, but it would help enough. She hoped. She couldn’t ignore the greater danger, who had probably just turned to look at her for mooching another batch of energy. Good. Nona hoped she was watching. She pointed toward the sorceress again, the flow of magical energy sped up like everything else about her. ”Draw,” she repeated, and stole another fragment of energy, and snapped her fingers.

”Gravira.”

Riyel and Lloyd pursued their assault, and the world distorted around Karas; a hemisphere of surging dark energy erupted around her, the pull of gravity multiplying exponentially for a few seconds. 9.8 meters per second squared became 941.192 meters per second squared, turning her hair, skin, bones, clothes, all into lead. Or at least, that should have been what happened. Nona saw the barrier ripple into existence around the sorcerer, exerting an opposing force to protect him from hers. She ground her teeth.

”The barrier stops Gravity spells. Lloyd, Riyel, hit him with a Gravira as soon as it drops!” They'd be no less effective than Nona herself with that spell, and a one-two punch would go a long way toward getting Boy Toy out of the picture. Nona focused on the sorceress again as she threw aside that plan.

To say that Karas was surprised by Riyel's turn around was quite an understatement. "Bold words from a boy about to die." Karas returned. Then came the surprise. Karas cursed under his breath as his wings kicked back, throwing him backwards as the male came at him like a hurricane. Riyel was not as fast as Lloyd, and karas had a notably easier time responding to his attacks, using his wings to help propel him into dodges. He might have continued dodging too, if not for the woman and her spells. He felt his body slow, cursing again as Riyel's attack found more ground. It didn't last for long, but enough that Karas took several blows to his barrier before time reverted to normal around him. A sideways glance would have made it clear as Ultimecia cast her hand at Karas for but a moment.

And the Final. Karas felt the pesky woman throw another spell, a gravity spell this time but his barrier was still intact. It held. The spear was thrown, and the explosion followed. In the moments before it's impact, Karas's wings snapped out and he threw himself back with them. They curled around his body as the flames exploded outwards. When the fires cleared, Karas was kneeling on the ground with his wings around him. His condition was fairly unknown, but Riyel pushed the attack, the flames exploding around Karas. The fires covered him. And then; it was over.

Lacrimosa
"I'll send you straight to hell!"

His wings exploded outward. He was hurt, he was definitely hurt. The barrier that had been protecting him was gone, that much was clear, but Lloyd wasn't going to make it. Karas's wings threw him back, putting rapid distance between Lloyd and Karas. "Flaraja!" That was it, the certainty. The end. It was a channeled spell. He'd used Riyel attacking him and filling the area with fire as a means to actually channel the spell and not get interrupted. Light motes of red light formed in the air as Karas narrowed his eyes on Riyel. There were hundreds of them, covering very near the entire area. They reached nearly as far as Tae and Ellale. The motes expanded suddenly, rapidly detonating and tearing the air, earth, and tree asunder.

Tae and Ellale were just outside of the blast Radius, but Ultimecia wasn't exactly giving them the time to think about it. Ellale's daggers were disarmed by bolts of darkness, sending the weapons harmlessly back to petals. This was followed by another wave of dark bolts set to strike them. There was a difference this time though. Just as they started to get close enough to strike, they suddenly exploded into a multitude of spells. Fire, Thunder, Blizzard. The spells struck without mercy, clearly attempting to tear through Ellale's defense. Given she knew she'd have a moment as the spells struck, Ultimecia held out her hand at the pair. "Maelstrom." However, this spell never finished.

....Space. Time. It was infinite, and endless, and only drifting amongst it did one realize exactly what that meant. It was crushing, it was freeing. Uplifting, pulverizing, it felt like it contradicted itself, yet, did not. He would never figure it out, nor realize the grandeur of the moment he managed to encompass. How could he? It was far beyond the scope of his understanding.

But with a crack, his eyes shifted. Where there was nothing, void, there was a house. A small boy, tears welling in his eyes, but being held back. Red-headed, small, school uniform, not even a decade old. Above him a man, similar red hair, more groomed for sure, a corporate look, enhanced by Esthar styles. Subjective taste, but, being from Esthar, Isaac thought the look was fine, even if out of line from the standard of the rest of the world. Still, he bit his lip, his eyes narrowing and the corners of his mouth moving his lips into a frown. It had been so long. He didn't want to remember this.

It was one of the many, many times he was scolded, mocked, and ridiculed by his father for not doing well in his studies. His two brothers held above him. The sound of glass shattering moved the moment forward by years. Same scene, but bruises on child. Red hair disheveled as the red haired man continued on, before soon pointing towards the door. Isaac heard the words. Hell, he remembered them too clearly, but he didn't want to. Remembering the entire reason he went to the Garden was because he was disowned.

"That b*****d." He mouthed the words, but they could not come to him here.

The trip. His caravan. Silently the scene flashed forwards. The sudden storm, the people, the mother of a new born. Lightning. Roars. Monsters. People. Screams. A countdown to demise. He remembered the sensation. Doom. They were dead, but him and a small babe he had tried to escape with, but he could feel the timer running out. He could see the lights of the Garden in the distance, but it appeared. The apparition of death. The blow was clean, sweeping through him, but not the child, not damaging him physically, but taking something else. Intangible. It went black.

He gripped as his chest, his gloved hand touching bare skin. Death was unpleasant. He refocused on the scene. Red-hair hit the muddy road. Hard to distinguish from the sizable amount of blood on him. A triumphant war of a beast. Words. "Do you accept fate, or do you defy it?" Sigrdrifr. The cry of a babe, a child returning to it's feet, color drained from his hair, a indescribable halberd, luminescent in his hands. A blind charge. A slain beast. A recovered babe. The doors of a Garden. The start of a new life.

A man in space and time again. Alone. A smile. Glass-like fragments surrounding within an instant. More of time's veil swept away.

Frustrated days. Failed tests. Adolescent mockery, teasing. Pent up anger. Fights. Penalties. Repeated failures. Long nights. Crying child. Changing diapers. Early mornings. Crying child. Feeding. Skipping breakfast. Classes. Failed tests. Failed endeavors. Inner voice, calming, not his own. Monster training, fighting. Success. Ease of mind. Less pain. Days repeat, grow longer, grow shorter.

Years pass. Shorter nights. Better morning. Good mornings. Small voice, small girl, strong girl. Powerful mind. Happiness. Shared breakfast. Sending off to classes, before doing the same. Continued mockery, teasing. Background noise. Failed assignments, failed tests. Low intelligence. Frustration. Inner voice, wise, inspiring, not his own, but as if it was his own. Raising grades. Better tests. Worries of child. Words of danger. Impatience. Anger.

Elderly man. Friendly. A disagreement. A stupid fight. A regret he could never undo, a apology never made. A moment unseized, lives destroyed. A destroyed Garden. The flashes stop. Moments become more tangible, more experienced. Tracks. A green haired man lazily staring a head, supporting a larger man, watching a red-headed girl skip towards Esthar. A disgraced child returning home, with a new friend, and a unexplained daughter. Family name doesn't matter. He continues with the last name 'Anundr.'

Replacement arms. Repeated surgeries. Experimental procedures. Mind-shattering pain, gritted teeth, hardly a whelp. Injections, blue fluid, more pain. Traumatizing screams. Months bed-ridden. Slow recovery. Child lessons, growing daughter. More smiles, withheld happiness. Promise showing.

"Robin..." The void still claims his voice.

The moments move forward. Robin is building, creating trinkets, plays maintenance on his arm, better then he could hope too. Still home-schooled, but still attends some classes in the public at Fisherman's Horizon. Renovations finished. Homes move again. underground base. More changes, but still a family. A happy daughter, a happy father, some how. The twinge of pain, payment for his arm. Nights of terror, pain with held, silence of circumstances ever kept.

Before the assault on the Time Witch's nation. "I have to do this Robin. For your sake. You're gonna have a great future, but before that, we, Unbroken, have to take action against this injustice." "I understand... Good luck Dad, kick their a**! I love you!" A hug.

Her face. "I love you." His voice returns. A opening in time. A wicked grin. A odd landscape, filled to the brim with roots, and a insane looking woman. The push of something. A familiar presence, a friendly one. Left hand first, he emerges from time, his right arm already charged, his red aura picking up as he enters the battlefield. Your time will be your own, Robin. I swear. His last free thought as the thrusters on his arm activate, the blind rage taking over his mind as his teeth clench, a chuckle escapes, and a murderous grin take over his expression.

The Berserker arrived. His arm rockets forward, his powerful body managing to keep it from throwing his entire frame off. His inhuman might his only saving grace from it. The pain is still real, everytime that punch is thrown, the pain takes a toll. But his might lessens the threat. The Time Witch receives a blow, most likely one unlike any she ever expected. Isaac knows nothing of her barrier, or defenses, but a cocky smirk and a pair of open eyes observe the impact.

He had done it. He had hit them hard and the Gaia's Child limit break was still running. It was funny how he could feel so alive in such a moment like this. Riyel and Lloyd were a team...Riyel felt closer to his brother here than he ever had before and as he looked at what the damage he had done, he could see Karas in the midst of the flames that Riyel had become so well acquainted with. And he could see that Karas had an ace up his sleeve that he had prepared for. The Ringer could see it in his eyes...in his facial expression...Riyel just knew that something horrid was going to happen.

And that's when Riyel moved towards his brother.

It was funny how time could seem to almost slow down in these moments. The explosions that erupted from all the fighting around him seemed to almost stall as his eyes moved towards his brother who had jumped into the fray, even then Lloyd looking to slow down. Perhaps it was fate...perhaps it was something else entirely but Riyel knew that he was running with a grander purpose than he could actually understand. He could near Nona in his headpiece giving orders and the shouts of Ellale and Tae as well. The adrenaline rushed through his body as he pumped his arms, his ears pulsing as blood rushed quickly from his heart to his brain and back again.

But he did not pay it nor anyone else any mind. There was only one person who was in true danger. And there was one thing he had to do.

It was right as Karas fully spoke his spell that Riyel felt something deep within him almost shut off. Lloyd had jumped into the fray but Riyel had been to stand in front of him, wrapping his arms around his brother so that the older brother's larger frame covered the little brother's body in a firm hug, putting LLOYD on the ground to cover all of him. Even as the mass of flare struck Riyel's back, pain lancing throughout the entirety of his body, he held on for his brother's sake. The clothing on his back ripped apart and his skin seemed to almost tear off of his body but still, Riyel held onto his brother.

And it was in that shielding hug that Riyel tried to convey what he could while he could to his brother. Riyel had not been the best brother...but as he squeezed the smaller man in his arm he tried to for once be the protective older brother that Lloyd had probably never wanted. For once, Riyel tried to put how much he loved his knuckle headed little brother into what seemed almost a split second. The pain was there...but Riyel put everything he had in protecting what little family he had left.

And then he screamed from the pain.

It was only for a moment but the spell finally ended as did Riyel's scream. Lloyd could tell almost immediately. Riyel went from protecting his brother to barely trying to hold onto the man, his back torn up and bleeding with third degree burns just covering his back. His breathing was faint as his grip slipped, rolling off of LLOYD landing on the ground without any effort to stop it. There was no resistance.

All Riyel knew was the world was pulsing around him in different colors, his eyes seeing different shades and hues as the pain in his back seemed to fade into the background, his breathing heavy. This was it. This was the time...he just had to hold on though. Despite the pain, Riyel could do that much. Ifrit and Elliot knew what had befallen their summoner and the emotions rushing through him helped keep the blonde centered in reality as well, their mourning and grief rushing through the Unbroken Leader. All the man could do was look up at his brother, knowing that he had done the job he was truly destined. Riyel knew that his Grandmother and mother would have been proud.

It hurt to move...

It hurt to breathe...

Riyel's gunblade lay right next to him, the gears still whirling...

And all Riyel could do was slowly reach into his pocket and pull out a small journal...

I don't want to go... But he knew the price that had to be paid.

Together the brother's could do this! Lloyd had no doubt in his mind they could defeat this Sorcerer! Lloyd's eyes widened as he failed to hit his mark. The angel of death had one final trick, and this one was aimed to kill them both. That horrid expression Karas wore painted the picture of the carnage he wished to unleash. It all happened so fast, but also seemed to happen a moment at a time. For the first time, Lloyd couldn't move taken by fear. There was no one to dodge, nowhere to avoid, nothing he could have done. Before him his eyes reflected the approaching storm of explosions all seeking to claim his life. And then...arms covered him.

The world seemed to blur with approaching heat as Lloyd was he was pushed to the ground and a larger frame covered him. The deafening explosions came then and erupted all around them and yet still increased in heat and power building off the last. Yet still his eyes were wide in silence. This body was taking the brunt of the damage for his sake. Yet, in this embrace it was not protection he felt...it was love. The embrace was meant to convey all the things Riyel could never say and Lloyd received them. Wishing they had more time, peaceful of their moments at Fisherman's Horizon, acceptance of his choice to pursue Nona, pride of who his brother was becoming, and love to have had the honor of being part of that big heart Lloyd was known for. Laughing together, crying together, arguing together, smiling together, competing together, talking of the future, and consoling one another when something went wrong. Lloyd's eyes were frozen on his brother's face hearing nothing but the impacts of the spell as Riyel screamed. Why...?

At the end of it, somehow Lloyd was now cradling Riyel his arms as life was fading from his being. His body...his body was burned severely and it was very apparent that no amount of spells or wishes would be able to reverse the damage done. Lloyd still wore that shaken expression frozen in time. How much was enough? How much would this world put him through until it was satisfied? Lloyd's body reacted where his mind tried to catch up. Tears freely streamed down his dirtied cheeks and his hands tightly clenched onto Riyel's burnt body trying to keep him together as best he could. Lloyd's grief was all but tangible. His hand gripped Riyel's damaged hand and refused to let go. And then finally, his emotions caught up with him.

The stunned expression gave way to one of complete hysterical despair. Over and over Lloyd begged, pleaded for his brother to hang on. He'd fight off death itself if he had to! But he already knew what was happening, something he couldn't control, something out of his hands. "Please...please.." he repeated looking down at his older brother with a heart weighed down by grief. "Please don't leave...what about Koyuki? Live for her! Please...I can't do this...I won't let you do this! I won't allow it!" he continued fruitlessly trying to curse fate defying it until the end.

Memories of his brother and he first meeting as children at Winhill, memories of becoming friends, memories of becoming brothers, fighting side by side until this day. These were all Lloyd could reflect on. Such a strong person like Riyel couldn't perish here...Lloyd wouldn't allow it! There had to be something...anything! "SOMEONE HELP ME! PLEASE!" he cried out before returning to his frenzied whispers. This couldn't be happening...please anything but this. Lloyd had held it together this long but this...this was breaking the very core of his being.

"If anyone can, they can do it." Ellale responded brightly to her knight, prepared to put her full attention on Ultimecia. Things were about to kick off. Ultimecia threw her attack, and as the fires raged in the distance from Riyel's attack, Ellale thought, 'We can do this.' But she never could have expected what happened next. She threw her hands forward, sending petals to create a barrier separating her and Tae from Ultimecia. Or at least, it would have had the woman not turned her attack into spells that blasted away at the barrier. And in that moment, Ellale's attention shifted.

She felt it, rather than heard the spell. A massive release of magic that she'd never felt before. Her eyes went wide as she saw the motes of light expanding, erupting. She saw Lloyd and Riyel, and she saw Riyel tackling Lloyd. They'd die. It was guaranteed. They would both die and that would be it. There wasn't any coming back. "No!" She honestly didn't know if she said, screamed, or whispered it. She reached her hand out and closed it sharply. The brothers, though they probably did not realize it, were not alone. A red light flashed around them. In that moment, she tried, she tried to mimic Kalay's sorcery. She wasn't familiar with it, it was unusual, and in that moment she failed. The flare's erupted, shattering her flimsy barrier in moments. She didn't make it.

And in her split attention, Ultimecia's attack shattered her petal barrier, and the spells tore through the air. Ellale was totally defenseless, focused on the other fight. Things might have been worse if not for Isaac's timing, tearing into the fight without mercy and a punch that, while normally would not have even moved Ultimecia, sent her sideways, sliding away and nearly stumbling to the ground even as her barrier tried to reduce the force. Ellale could hear him call for help.

'He lived... but that means...' She'd already put together what Lloyd yelling meant, and what his yelling indicated. She felt relief, but at the same time she felt wrong having that relief. Lloyd was alive, but at the ultimate cost from someone else.

Her head hurt, and her body felt hot. She'd used magic beyond her scope. It wouldn't kill her, but she could already feel the effects.

The battle at Galbadia Garden was nothing but brutal. There was blood being shed everywhere and in the midst of all of the chaos Koyuki did everything she could to keep everyone safe. Having split off from Riyel due to him trying to be overprotective of her because of her pregnancy she was able to be of more use. She did not want to be protected, she wanted to fight. This was her right to fight, for the future of everyone, and if she was lucky for the future of the little one inside of her womb. This was something she could not standby and hide for the safety of her child. No she would sacrifice it if she had to in order to save everyone else. That may of been selfish of her but if there was no future for everyone then hiding would of been pointless. She would raise her weapon to the enemy and bring them down at all cost. There was no other way but to do so.

The fighting grew much more intense as the forces inside the Garden tried ambushing Koyuki and her group. Though the fight was close she and her group made it out okay suffering only small wounds. She felt her stomach and made sure no injury was made on her child, and she gave a sigh of relief when there was none. Even if she was willing to sacrifice herself and her child she would still do her best to keep it safe until there was a time where it couldn't be helped. She lightly cursed at Riyel for getting her pregnant in the first place especially during a war of all times to be pregnant. It was annoying and stupid how it came to happen after a few drinks and wanting to forget the war just for a night. He wasn't to blame though fully. It was just as much her fault too. Shrugging off the thoughts she pressed forward and continued her fight to go help the others.

It was then suddenly her vision went black and she found herself lost and confused as to where in the world she was. This wasn't the Garden she was just fighting in, and it didn't seem natural to be here. As she surveyed around the place she noticed a bunch of commotion going on to her right and found her friends and allies battling the enemies they were seeking, however as she looked more closely she saw Lloyd holding someone and screaming for someone to help him. It was then that a sudden dread washed over her entire body and without thinking much or worrying about the enemy Koyuki sprinted as fast as she could over to Lloyd and the person he was holding. When she came up to him, it was as she feared. Riyel was burned severely on his entire body. She dropped down on the other side of Riyel and her breaths started to shake slightly and all the while tearing up. Why did this happen to him of all people. Seeing the damage done to Riyel there was nothing she could of done to heal him. She had potions, she had a cure spell but it wouldn't matter. Her teeth began to grit against each other and her hands balled into a tight fist as she began to weep a little.

"
Why?..........Why Riyel? ........." She quietly spoke questioning everything. Her body increasingly shook from her anger and sadness. At this very moment nothing seem to matter. Everyone else around her mere shadows and blurs as she looked upon Riyel. Her anger peaked and she couldn't help but grip Riyel's burnt hand tightly with one of her hands and started to yell at him. "DAMMIT RIYEL!......You are suppose to be around for our child!....Why did this have to happen to you?!" Koyuki slammed her other fist into the ground out of anger. She had hoped that Riyel would stay alive, but instead she found him in this pitiful condition with no way to save him. She was crying now, tears falling from her face, and her breaths now staggered. Nothing was okay. Nothing was fine. Nothing was going to get better. The father of her child was dying right before her eyes and nothing could be done to do anything about it. Why was life being so cruel to her, his family, and his child? Riyel had so many that needed him around, and yet he was going to be taken away. Removed from life. Eventually to be faded away to just a memory. It wasn't fair, and Koyuki had forgotten what she was fighting for.

The effect didn’t last long, but it was enough. Riyel took the barrier down and forced the sorcerer back. Nona was getting ready to join in the assault of Gravity spells when the field became a sea of red motes. Nona’s breath caught in her throat, and she threw herself backward. The motes above her blasted her downward into the tangle of roots as the maelstrom roared over her. The air was driven out of her, and all she could hear was the roar and the splintering of the tree.

Nona groaned, lying amid a ruin of branches and roots, cuts and burns all over. It was hard to breathe. Her scars ached. And in her ear, she could hear their voices. Lloyd. And another…Koyuki? So someone else had been dropped in. But the words…She sucked in breath with a gasp, seizing the nearest root to drag herself to her feet. She clambered over it enough to see the battlefield. A smoldering ruin, the tree a blackened husk, its branches burning and raining embers down onto the world. And out across the ravine. They were gathered around the only one not speaking.

Her scars screamed at her as she saw the steaming figure. Her eyes revealed the truth as her heart shouted denial. No, it said. She wouldn’t let any of them fall here. But she was smarter than that. They were never all going to make it out. They had never expected that. Some things were out of her hands.

And Karas was still there, on the recovery.

Some things were within a woman’s grasp.

Nona gritted her teeth and holstered her gun, instead dropping something at the base of the tree, before she seized the lowest-hanging branch. There weren’t many, but its structure was weak. She could punch handholds in the bark. She scrambled up, anger substituting for dexterity. She reached the tall branches, and hit a button at her belt.

The grenade nestled at the base exploded in a cloud of smoke and shrapnel, taking half the base of the great tree’s trunk with it. The great tree groaned and began to tilt, crackling. Nona braced herself, and as it fell, stood, and began to run.

The massive thing fell straight for Karas, burning and screaming. Nona sprinted atop it, hair flying behind and above her, and reached for him. Another flurry of motes stolen away rushed toward her. ”Fira!” she shouted, and threw the spell downward. It struck the ravine and water, erupting into a cloud of billowing fog on one side of the tree.

The great hulk crashed, and Nona trusted Karas’ habit of dodging with the help of his wings to throw him backward instead of toward her comrades. She was thrown from the tree as it crashed, kicking up dirt and dust to add to the billowing fog cloud. She landed in a bloody roll just a few yards from the fallen Riyel. Her comrades were barely-visible silhouettes in the fog, and the world was one giant black wall and many tiny lanterns; the falling embers and the burning branches scattered all about, too small to clear away the haze.

Panting, aching, Nona struggled to her hands and knees, crawling toward her fallen friend.

It won’t buy us long. I’m sorry.

Tae smiled and nodded to Ellale. As upset she was about how things had managed to go for them, she had at least that much faith. That they could do it. Turning from Ellale, her swords in hand she shifted in the spot on where she stood. Lloyd's voice sounded in her ears causing a flicker of emotion across her face. ”Just focus on your own battle Lloyd Nipal. . . and don't screw up. ” He needed all of his focus on his target. Tae only could guess at how upset Ellale would be if he'd messed himself something bad. There were people counting on him and everyone else to finish this once and for all.

An over whelming sense of dread and despair filled her. Her gaze shooting to Ellale. She'd turned her attention to the other fight leaving herself defenseless. Gritting her teeth she moved in a protective stance. But even in that there was no way she could counter those spells. Spells that seconds later tore through the barrier and left Tae breathless. In a split second though she moved, not towards the sorceress but to Ellale pulling her back from one of the spells aimed directly at her. In moving it allowed Tae to also dodge the spells that were aimed at her.

Glancing back into the fray she spotted Isaac who sent Ultimecia flying sideways. The only way possible was that Isaac had caught her off guard by her attention on them, for surely she would have used her magic of time to stop a direct hit on her? She didn't entirely have much time to ponder the thought as a scream pierced the air. All of it pained. Her gaze split off from Ultimecia to where the scream had come from. It was Lloyds. From where she stood she could tell that there was something in his arms. A body if she had to guess from the words he yelled. This wasn't good. Lloyd was getting distracted, for good reason, but it would only end up in his death as well if he didn't come too. And Ri would have died in vain.

But it seemed another person had come into the fray of the fight, but they too were distracted and not at all paying attention to their surroundings. If it wasn't for Nona they'd both probably would be dead as a fog rose up around them distorting them from view. She could only hope for the best for them right now. She had her own fight to attend to. Moving she drew in a breath and dashed forward moving around and up and over roots that were in her path. Coming up close enough to where Isaac would be able to hear her, ”Nice of you to join us." Together they could all pull the sorceress attention from their fallen comrades and slowly take her out. No doubt she wouldn't fall so easy to them.

Now and forever you are still the one
In my heart
So true , I believe I could never find
Somebody like you
My first love

To say she was shocked was quite a bit of an understatement. There was a bit more than shock she felt at being blown away by a physical attack of all things, her barrier nearly being burst just by the impact itself. Her wings were forced to snap out to keep her from falling to the ground and a disgusted look found it's way to the man who had hit her. She recognized what his arm meant, and realized that she was probably lucky. If not for the barrier, that impact would have done more than just pushed her away. She might have continued her focus on him, but there was a current issue of the giant tree crashing to the ground. And with it, she could see Karas. As much as she trusted him to figure his own way out of it, it was time to regroup. With more and more people coming in, they'd get seperated and beat that way. With a flick of her wings, she seemed to disappearing in a burst of feathers.

Karas meanwhile was pleased that he had taken out one of the brothers. It brought a certain level of satisfaction to him to know he'd killed one at least. His satisfaction was not long lived though, particularly as Nona sent what remained of the grand tree crashing down towards him. He almost stood his ground to blow the tree aside, into fractions of it's normal size, but he stopped as a mass of black feathers appeared next to him. Withing much warning, he disappeared. After the tree's crash, there was a moment of stillness, and then the two appeared, standing atop it's falling trunk. It looked like Karas was focusing on something, no doubt a spell he was planning on casting on the scattered people. Ultimecia though, stood watching with a displeased expression. That was, until her eyes opened widely for a second and her gaze shot to the distance.

A child watched him with a bright smile. Her yellow eyes said more than her words ever could. That joy, that happiness at having made something. She held out the object of her fascination for him to look at, and he did. He looked it over. She didn't have a father, but to be fair neither did he. He felt like he had to take care of her, like a father would. Their mother was so busy, working around the town just to earn the money to support them. Someone had to take care of her. He praised her, he always did. She was happy, she was overjoyed. She ran off to work on something else and the memory flickered. Even as her green hair disappeared out the door, he felt a sense of comfort. She was safe in this life.

He was older, a young boy listening to a recruiter for Balamb Garden. He didn't like fighting, and he didn't care about it, but they said he'd be paid. That meant... his mother would be able to take care of his sister more. She shouldn't have to work so hard. He had already made his decision that night, packing his things while his sister watched. He told her to not worry, told her that he'd be fine. He told her that he'd send letters home, and to not tell their mother until he was long gone. She agreed, though she was confused. He smiled and kissed her forehead, said he loved her, and then he departed into the night. He wouldn't look back, he'd never look back. He had to go forward for his sister and mother, and he had a path he could take to do it. He just had to become a SeeD and then they'd never want for anything anymore. He'd ensure they had the best they could have within his means.

A young man now, with friends. Kiyari Vaine and Caize Ovelen. They weren't the closest three, but the two got along with him. He enjoyed spending time with them, though Kiyari didn't have much to do with him in general. And then the SeeD exam, the memories were flashes. A field, bodies without life, monsters tearing through the ranks, an instructor who perished saving Kiyari and Caize. And then a decision. Running through the field, throwing spells at the man with wings, drawing him away from the two. A Guardian Force of incredible might trying to crush him. His body was breaking, it couldn't stand this kind of fighting. He saw his two friends escape, and he felt himself fading. A spell that shook his very soul and sent him into the ocean. Losing consciousness, and remember the girl at home he swore he'd become a SeeD to provide for. Regret.

A Sorcerer now, bearing a necklace to hide his secret. Cared for in Esthar and giving a mission, one he couldn't deny but that would ultimately result in his death. He returned to Balamb, a broken hero. Kiyari and Caize wouldn't speak to him. They didn't trust him, they knew something was wrong. He'd died on that island, so how was he here now? He became a SeeD, but he vyed for something else. A Garden in Winhill, in need of instructors. He passed his tests and left those behind who didn't trust him. He couldn't repair the damage anyways. His only friend anymore, a rabbit GF named Carbuncle who wouldn't leave him even if he asked her to. He returned to Winhill, to see his sister once more.

And then there was an instructor and a SeeD who wanted to be an instructor. A woman with white hair. She fascinated him, and he thought perhaps if things had been different. She didn't give up, she vied for that which he didn't want to give. A dance, a night, and ultimately a mission to be the end of their lives. The man, the instructor, didn't like him. He didn't care, he didn't mind being disliked. The man was noble, he was focused and driven. The man died in Deling, like how he died on that Island. The man came back just like him too, but on the opposite side.

The memories came faster. A destroyed bridge, a destroyed mansion, a mansion and the revealing of a great secret, a staff broken at every major event of his life, like pieces of him being left behind. A baby that barely knew him, a girl who knew very little of her own father. And a sorceress, a young woman, who was forced into his mission that he so desperately wanted her to be no part of. He couldn't stay ahead of her any longer, she forced her way to beside him with that childlike smile he remembered when she had first held out her creation from scraps. He felt remorse. He had pulled her into a fate he didn't wish for her and yet she took it with open arms, prepared to put her life on he line just as he did. Fate was cruel.

Falling through time and space, everything had been a confusing blur. Finally the world had coalesced, but this was not a place Lisanna could recall. There was a strange quality to the light and the sounds, as if this wasn't a real place. Was it another time? A memory? Snowflakes filled the air around her, dancing on the wind in frantic little flurries. The air should have been bitingly cold and yet she couldn't feel anything beyond material of her clothes flapping at her skin. 'Am I really here? Where is here anyway?'

Suddenly a spell exploded on the hillside nearby, causing Lisanna to jump and almost fall over. She glanced about in shock, and her heart lurched to see two familiar figures battling in the snow. To her it seemed as if they had appeared out of nowhere, but by the looks of things they had been fighting for a good while. In the distance flames consumed a solitary house. 'Mother...! Father!' She recognised them instantly from the picture Salem had shown her so long ago. How could she not? As the tragic scene played out before her a sick feeling began to grow in her stomach. Her mother, viciously attacking their father and taunting him. The expression on her face made her look utterly different to the woman Lisanna remembered from the photo, and the heartache in her father's gaze filled her with sorrow. 'So...Ultimecia led her astray...' Lisanna watched in dismay as the battle finally ended, her mother's blood spattered across the white blanket that her prone form now lay upon. Edea had joined the battle too, and now Lisanna's gaze followed the remaining two as they emerged from the burning house with little bundles. 'Salem and...myself...'

The scene blurred into darkness, yet oddly snowflakes still swirled around her. Lisanna closed her eyes, tears sliding down her cheeks.

'So that was how it was.'

She was falling again. Her wings flared out behind her, yet they made no difference. When she opened her eyes she could see the ghosts of familiar faces, and heard their voices echo in the dark around her. All of the many people she had come to know and care for, people who had entered her life in different ways. Some had stayed, some had not. All of them meant something. Her instructors at Trabia, Sou Ho, Kalay and Carbuncle...all of her students...Salem...Nyale...

Space. He almost laughed to himself. He was in time. And space. This was truly the final frontier. Too bad he didn't have a camera. This would truly be the only time, in his existence, he would be able to experience it, and honestly the act of remembering this could be questionable at best. Would he even retain a inkling of this? Maybe, probably not.

More importantly, he felt good here. Almost too good. He could see, feel, hear clearly. He could feel the pure surge of magic running through the universe, and he could feel his limits breaking. He had reached.... a almost energy form before, when in dire trouble. Maris had seen it once, when he had accidentally triggered a limit break of his own, and nearly annihilated Cerberus when he went to gain it. For a moment, he thought he would be ripped apart before he found himself on a snowy hillside, a seemingly simple house, and two figures in the snow.

His pulse quickened. He recognized the figures from his picture. His mother was throwing spells around, apparently toying with their father, his blood smeared clothes and snow around him telling the tale for him. Time was kind enough to pan the scene, reveal his mother's face. Her expression one that was easily recognizable, of a hubris filled sorceress winding up to finish off her opponent. Ed-no, Ultimecia had had that a few times before. Though, speaking of that Sorceress, she was there too. Who knew why though, but a glance around the landscape revealed no Trabian Garden's halo in sight.

...Perhaps she had come across this scene while trying to set up the Trabian Garden around here. Who knows, but her ice magic was becoming more prominent to help out the sword wielding man, shouting something that time hollowed to a indescribable sound. He could feel his heart in his throat, and time skewed itself. It hastened the fight, each spell, movement, scream, went by in a instant, and soon a impaled mother lay deceased in the snow, a burning house stormed in by a injured man and a kind eyed woman, each emerging with a separate child.

Of course she had lied to him. Of course the only things he knew of his parents had been a lie from the very beginning. He was glad time, at least, had the kindness not to make him agonizingly watch the entire thing in detail. Time shifted again. More truths were being laid out before him, Ultimecia had hired three thugs to play SeeD soldiers, though, they weren't expected to be literally shredded by magic from a young child. Nor the hours upon hours Salem had spent under her care, his childish perspective giving him a caring parent, when honestly she had continued the ice-ish demeanor she's always carried.

Name of the Loved

He couldn't stay ahead of her any longer, she forced her way to beside him with that childlike smile he remembered when she had first held out her creation from scraps. He felt remorse. He had pulled her into a fate he didn't wish for her and yet she took it with open arms, prepared to put her life on he line just as he did. Fate was cruel.

'Her evil forced me to grow up alone, without my family. For most of my life I felt so lonely, so out of place...but these people ended that...they gave me a reason to live. They took away that loneliness. I won't let her hurt them, or anyone else, anymore...'

He reached out for a moment, wanting to correct his youth, but time shattered.

Lambant Reckoning

They appeared at the same time, though their distance from the fight itself was rather extreme. The others were only outlines in the distance. Wings. None of the three were without their wings. The first to react to them being present in the battle was Lisanna, drawing her bow. "I won't forgive either of you if you die, just to be clear.". Salem responded first, "Crystal clear, ma sœur." Kalay glanced over at her after a moment, shrugging faintly. "If we're dead I doubt we have to really worry about you forgiving us, but duly noted." He was surprisingly relaxed considering this was their final battle.

"Like Caladbolg, Lis?" Kalay held up his hand in the air in front of Lisanna. After a moment, a sigil slowly wrote itself into the air. It was a mix of red and green. It didn't really seem to have much sense to it, but the other two no doubt could have felt the high concentration of magic being bound in the air in front of Lisanna. Lisanna merely nodded, raising her bow and taking aim. "Salem, act as if your casting a spell just behind the sigil I'm drawing. I'll bind it."

"Got it." Salem responded, letting his abundance of magic flow through his wings. The poisonous fumes that formed moth-like shroud of wings bending and coalescing in front of him, as his closed his eyes and focused on his most potent affinity. The fumes condescend, slowly turning into a sigil similiar to the one Kalay had made. There was a freezing chill from Lisanna as her arrow took on the properties of her ice affinity. In but a moment, it would be over.

"Kalay, Lis, lets ice this b***h." Though Salem was the only one to say it, it was easily agreed upon by all three. "Lis, go."

A near blinding light flashed out from the tip of the arrow. The arrow was fired, but it moved at a speed that transcended any normal arrow fired before. It crashed through the two sigils, the two wrapping around the arrow as it bolted off to some destination in the distance. The outer red and green bound the gaseous magic in as the arrow soared towards it's goal. The arrow didn't even hesitate as it blew past Nona and the others, sending the wind rippling out. As the arrow posted, the first sigil unwound. A light expanded outward rapidly, wrapping around Nona, Riyel, Lloyd, Koyuki, Ellale, Tae, and Isaac. It wound around them with red and green hues, like a flower petal. Ultimecia and Karas had only enough time to realize what was coming before the arrow exploded.

In only a moment, what had once been burning tree and petals was reduced to ash and death. The gaseous cloud from Salem expanded outwards at an incredible rate, rotting everything as soon as it touched it. The force of the explosion would have put any of those nearby on the ground if not for the barrier that had surrounded them. Anything the gas touched rotted and died away, turning everything to death. Particles floated in the air, like snow falling as the gas stretched out endlessly. For a moment, there was a break in the gas showing Karas and Ultimecia, both clearly trying to hold up some kind of barrier against the attack, but any hope of that was cut short. The frozen crystals in the air heralded something larger to come.

With explosive force, ice expanded from where the arrow had hit, freezing anything and everything it came into contact with. As before, if not for the barriers that had surrounded the others, they likely would have fallen into the scope of the attack. Though they were not touched by the ice, they no doubt could feel it as it tried to break through the barriers surrounding them. Within moments it would have become impossible for any of those protected to even see outside their own barriers, followed by a impossibly loud crack. The ice practically exploded, turning into snow that blanketed the field. The barriers that had been put into place to protect them cracked at this point, the force of the ice exploding nearly enough to remove their protection. The snow fell in mass, but it was still possible to see. The barriers shattered, releasing those that they held. And all was silent as the snow fell, deafening in it's silence. Nothing seemed to move in the frozen wasteland, at least not Ultimecia and Karas.

Even from their long distance from the fight, snow slowly started to fall where the three stood.

A sharp whistle escaped Salem. He was expecting something mighty, but nothing on that sort of scale. While his second thoughts on the true devastation his element brought almost made him hesistate, he knew that this place stood apart from the rest of reality. "I think that might have done it." Kalay said lightly. Salem was the first to respond to this. Tapping the toe of his shoe against the ground, he shook his head with a light chuckle after Kalay spoke. "I won't hold my breath... We may have surprised her, hell, wounded her even.... But this isn't over yet."

Lisanna slowly lowered her bow, letting out a soft breath. She seemed briefly stunned at the scale of devastation they had wrought and it took her a moment to realise the others were speaking. She tore her gaze from the icy wasteland ahead and glanced across at them, her expression determined. "Well, we showed her we're not to be messed with, that's for sure."

Kalay was silent following this, watching and waiting.
