Are the towns archives updated, or completely obsolete?
Are we going to run a valentines event?
Does anyone actually want to RP in forums anymore?

Valentines event does sound fun! I feel like the idea was mentioned and it was somewhat confirmed, but I don't quite remember the details...? Yeahh, journals seem the best place to find out what's happening. Though personally other than Muna I don't update very often...school and shizz u know qq Also I guess towns is more convenient cause it's rapid paced/easier to get events done that way? 0: But we should rp more in forums yup yup. I think most people are, it's just a matter of like WHO IS GONNA START u kno Is that library painting thing still going on btw?

TBH yeah, the Towns RP Archive was an experiment and... apparently not a successful one. I'll convert it into a journal database since those are actually updated more frequently, and unlock the thread so people can tell when they've updated their journals themselves.
I was actually unsure about a Valentine's event considering there are a LOT of aro/ace characters, but maybe some sort of letter exchange could work.
And yeah what Lily said. Towns is more fast-paced and most of the guild seems to prefer it. The biggest downside is it's hard to get everyone involved due to timezones and s**t. I've been trying to RP in my own forums more lately but yeah it just comes down to preference.
Also, in theory the painting thing SHOULD be timeskipped but Bethany (aka Wind) erratic with her logging on so I've been letting it sit.

I just kinda wanted to put my two cents in here, although Jenn and Lily already have this covered razz I updated the Towns RP Archive a few times, and whenever I was in towns I always made sure I edited things in - as far as I'm aware, most of the recapping happened in the main skype group though. And I know that can be an inconvenience. I've been intermittently away for periods of time because of school. I mean, I missed the entire Halloween event, and up until the last few days. It took me a message to Jenn, an a quick towns RP session with Lily, Jenn and Holly to figure out what I missed. Roughly a month of content was caught up in about 10-15 minutes. It doesn't take too much work. And luckily most of the characters don't give a s**t if you just randomly show up. The journal thing is definitely a good idea. Once I score a bit more free time, I intend to start one for Aerykah - probably over in HTML as Chi kindly offered that space to us. Maybe this will give everyone more motivation to keep up with journaling too ahaha. As for Valentines; Jenn, Cielle and I have planned something. We're gonna get that set up probably in the next few days. Lastly, RPing in forums!! Legit in the Tomas dorms, it's been: Timeskip, Aery, Timeskip, Aery, etc etc. If Averill wants to come hang out with her, please have him come to Tomas!!! I'd love to forum RP more - means I can do it from class too on my iPod and just format s**t later. (And tbh, I do love towns RPing more than forums, but considering I'm graduating in April and have a s**t ton of responsibilities, forums are a++ for me--) Maybe we can find more people who like forums too? I mean we did score Bethany and she's hella awesome. Recruiting is fun. biggrin

Why are the magority of members in this guild crew? is it really that nessesary? I get its maybe cause you all have a separate account for the teachers and whatnot but thats just silly neutral

Wind of Knowledge is technically also part of crew, considering she plays the biggest antagonist role, but as far as I know she doesn't actually do crew duties like Elo and Mak do. Teachers are separate accounts b/c theyre NPCS that don't really get used a lot? In case of towns instances that involve them I'm assuming it's easier to bring them in like that, not to mention it makes editing posts a whole lot easier. Plus, it gets rid of the ever time consuming task of making posting styles for every single one, you know? Other than that, we have a LOT of teachers and our actual active rper base is really, really small. A lot of us have more than one character which creates an illusion of more people rping, but in truth it's pretty small by nature. :'D I'm p/sure all the NPCS and stuff are also crew just so they're easy to view and like distinguish as non-playable as well, yeah.

Hey there, Happy. Just wanted to provide some clarification for you on your question. smile The answer that Siyaahi gave you is mostly right. As she said, there are only 3-4 crew members in the guild. Jennalaia is the guild captain, myself and Makhoire are the crew. Wind of Knowledge is mainly crew to give her access, as mentioned, to crew-only forums to be able to post as our current main antagonist. The other 20 or so accounts that are considered 'crew' are NPCs - each and every single one of them are teachers. All of these characters are named, and have a brief bio, in the Welcome Thread. For us, the crew, we find it easier to have all of the teachers/staff at Merlin to be listed as crew - most of our guild resources, passwords, posting aids, and other plot-related business are locked under crew-only forums. If we are online as a teacher, and need access to a certain posting picture, how else are we going to get it? The actual group of RPers, as again Siyaahi mentioned, are only an active pod of about 8-10 people. We're little but mighty. razz Hopefully this clarifies! (And thanks, Sana, for answering this)

We actually don't accept other characters as professors! All of the professors are NPCs with premade personalities and backstories. This is primarily so even if a person who plays a professor leaves, the professor can continue on and the class won't be professorless. I've seen this happen with way too many guilds and I'd rather avoid the problem.
You can sign up to play a professor, if you wish, since there are literally so many of them crew can't play them all at once. Or you can sign up to be crew once you make enough RP posts.
Long story short, there aren't actually any slots for professor characters, sorry!

The timeskip will basically do just that: skip over time. Crew's been calling it the two-year timeskip but it's more like a year since we're ending (depending on if the final event going on now ends in the timeframe I predicted) about June 2015 and picking up July 2016 in universe. If your character's in their first year now, they'll start as a third year after timeskip. Second years start as fourth years, and beyond that kids will graduate unless stated otherwise.
We reached the decision of timeskipping for a few reasons. It provides a year's break between events, allowing more drastic changes to happen to both the town and the school. It also takes older characters out of the picture, freeing up new character slots. (There's a couple exceptions but I've already spoken to those people about that.) And, biggest of all, it lets the world evolve just like worlds do.
Lots of things are gonna happen over the timeskip - things that crew'll go into detail on once we actually HIT the timeskip! But some things you can expect:
- The rules are going to change. School rules, that is. Merlin's gonna change and it's gonna be... well, interesting.
- Magitech will have hugely improved. Just like the smartphone leap IRL several years ago, the magick world's about to hit a serious tech revolution. Stuff like Ian's robot won't be mainstream quite yet, but phones that are channel-capable are gonna be on the market.
- Justus will change. Some of the descriptions in Justus will be altered to account for renovations post-Dragon. Some places might even be added.
- Characters will move on. Characters are people, and people change and evolve. Some people have already planned out what their characters will be doing after timeskip, whether they're continuing as a student or exploring the adult life as a magick. Older characters will definitely make cameos, which is great - I've seen a lot of timeskip designs and they are fantastic.
- The Council will be a bunch of assholes. This isn't actually changing over timeskip, they really are a bunch of assholes. But it's gonna get a lot worse.
Among other things that are going to change with timeskip: the SID will get a massive overhaul (I actually made it already but I'll hold it until timeskip), and several places will get new descriptions because the last eight months has given me a much better picture of them than before.
A lot of things are going to change but hopefully it'll be for the better!
