Rambunctious Ramblings
[Hunt] I can do this... I know I can

Very awkward situation to catch dragons in.. but it made for a quick ambush! Though that third dragon showing up spooked me....

Rambunctious Ramblings
[Hunt] No biting

That Blood Moon! As I grew up I knew it affected Diabi's... affected the world. I could sort of feel it... but I didn't realize how bad it could be! Guess I was too absorbed in my life to really notice...
It made Skjalg bit me! I mean... were were being frisky so it could have been that... but still! I'll just have to make sure he fight's a lot of things so he bites them and not me....
On the plus side.. I found this nice place that I think I could make a small lair in...

Rambunctious Ramblings
[Solo] The Lair
Words: 1068

Skorga looked around the glade. The tall mushroom was interesting, something she definitely wanted to keep. The willows, dark grey strands that fell elegantly from dark brown almost black branches made a nice picture. And the large evergreen, with its dark green needles that made for a sweet scenting padding… Yup. This was going to be her home. She gave a happy growl and started prowling around the tree, using her magic to shift the roots and earth beneath her to form a large bowl beneath the tree, still keeping it supported but making space for her future home.

“What are you doing?” Skjalg asked, looking up from cleaning his claws of blood from the recent fight.

“Making a lair!” Skorga chirped back happily. “The roots here are strong, deep…. And the pond isn’t leaking into this area at all!”

“… Just like that? You’re going to make a lair?” Jalg asked incredulously. “And.. this is a dangerous area…”

“Nah.. It’s not too bad. And yes. Just like that.” She said as she clambered into the small hollow beneath the tree and began to excavate the soil out. “It’s close enough to the clan that I can flee if things go wrong. There’s water right there which I like. Area looks nice… and there’s the mushroom. I want it.”

Jalg dodged the flying soil and moved to a safer location. “The mushroom? Really?”

“Yes! A perfect perch.”

“So…. You talk with your parents about it?”

“Nah. No need. Home is too crowded and I think father’s going to leave it soon as well. I don’t think he’s sticking around Mother much longer now that we’re all grown.”
Skjalg gave a soft growl as he understood. Dona and Skogra had never gotten along, so without her father there Skorga wasn’t going to stay in that lair.
She poked her head out, a clump of dirt on her snout.
“Want to join me?”

Chuckling and reaching a claw to tweak the dirt off, Skjalg smiled. “You know I want to... though I thought you wanted to hide away from us frustrated power-mad Diabi right now?”

“Hmm… You sleep on mushroom then till you get used to the Blood Moon.” She stuck her tongue out at him before turning back to digging.

“So mean…” Jalg laughed. Now that he’d used the power, killed things, he felt more relaxed. “How big are you going to make it?”

“Just two rooms for now… big enough for use to sleep and have a place to stash stuff…”

“Hmmm…”

“What?”

“You might want to make it slightly bigger…”

She paused in her digging to glare at him. “Why?” What was he suggesting?

“I’m in the middle of another growth spurt.” Jalg grinned. “I won’t be able to fit through that opening soon.”

“Uhg! No! No growing!” Skorga growled in amusement, thought slightly disappointed he didn’t have other reasons for wanting a larger lair... like a nest… Not that they were ready for one! But.. still…

“Can’t help it Skorga, my body doesn’t like to listen to me.”

“Tell me about it.” She muttered to herself as she finished hollowing out to the roots. Gotta expand it some more… add a tunnel and room over there, she thought to herself.

“You say something?”

“Make yourself useful and find me some stones please? Gonna need to strengthen the walls a bit… and make a path way in the ground so we have something solid to pile on comfy needles.”

“Comfy needles? Isn’t that a contradiction?” Jalg asked as he stood up to begin plumbing the depths of the pond for large stones.

“Hey! They’re very soft! And smell good. Mmm mmm.” Skorga said as she sat in the dark lair and moved more roots, more earth aside. Then she turned her eyes up to the base of the tree: should she allow for a window? Nah… That would let in bugs, animals, and rain. Messy.

“Soil's softer.”

“And gets stuck in your scales.” She retorted back. “I’d rather not have to clean myself off after leaving my lair every time!”

“But there’s this lovely pond right here…”

“And it’ll be frozen come winter.”

“Picky picky picky.” He said as he used his shadows to maneuver rocks down the hole and formed a pathway and ring around the main hollow.

“My lair. I get to be picky.”

Just yours?”

Skorga paused and stuck her head out the tunnel to look at him. “Could be ours… so long as you don’t bite.”

“You really aren’t going to let me forget that are you?”

Never!” Skorga was feeling better than she had all week. This was the Skjalg she knew! Not the one that paced with violence in his eyes, the one that reacted with growls and snarls. The playful one, the one who liked to tease.
He chuckled and walked inside after her. The space suddenly decreased drastically.

“Hmmm.. gonna need to expand this.. a lot.” Skorga said as he stepped over her, his wings brushing the ceiling.

“I’ll help, since it’s ours.” He said with a laugh. “Though you should go make that second room and give me space to shovel out this dirt.”

"Got it. Though make sure you don’t bury us in here… Call me when you reach the roots. We’ll need to move all the displaced soil to where it will be useful.”

“Oh?”

“I was thinking of making a barrier with plants, make it safer. This is good soil, it will be useful in keeping magically grown plants healthy.”

“Making it safer? Like that old practice glade you were using?”

“Mostly… though I also want to add some plants I found.” She said as she thought of the plants she had growing in her current room at her parents lair. Pretty things, things that smelled nice, lovely flowers, healing herbs, poisons…

“Of course… just… avoid that really powerful smelling one please. I know you like the vivid red and yellow flowers but spirits!” Skjalg made a face as he remembered the pungent smell, it’d killed his sense of smell for weeks!
Skorga laughed as she worked on the slightly smaller chamber. They took breaks, cleaning off in the pool after shifting the soil to other locations, making the glade look cleaner and not like they’d dumped a whole lair’s worth of soil in it. And, Skjalg had to agree, the mushroom did make a wonderful perch.

Rambunctious Ramblings
[Solo] Raiding Oblivionites

Skroga was curled about the dark twining trees of her home forest observing the movements of soldiers. There were more of them than there should have been, more and more patrols, more oblivionites in her clan's territory.

This patrol was filled with young Oblivionites: more than she was used to seeing. Are they dragging children into war now? She wondered as she eyed the wagon being pulled by some Hastars. Perhaps this group of kids should be taught to not wander so close to her home? She thought with a cruel smile.

Skorga was now an adult, fully grown and completely confident in her powers. While she still had some growth to do and more learning (always there was more to learn!) she was confident enough that she could take on this bunch of crawling two leggers! And see what loot there was to be had.. and dinner too since she was quite partial to Hastar flesh!

Fools; they're just blissfully walking through my garden of fun! She had to keep from chuckling at them. She had, over the years, planted new and strange plants all about her home, eventually moving further and further out into the forest She concentrated and poured her powers into the carefully cultivated vines and thorny bushes that were in this area, causing them to grow quickly.

As the forest grew on all sides and blocked off any exit, the small patrol began to shout, spells of darkness and fire being thrown at her beloved plants in an attempt to escape.

She chuckled and slid from one tree to the next, the greenery that grew from her scales helping to hide her from their eyes.
"Oh little fools... you should not walk so carefree through the wilderness! Who knows what lurks in the shadows?" She hissed softly, her tail whipping about as she dampened the fires with her own spells: she made any plant on fire drop to the ground and burrow into it to smother the flames.

Her vines grabbed the limbs and twined about the Oblivionites; binding them so she could pas without threat.

She hummed to herself as she stalked towards the screaming bound hastars; dinner and loot all in one! With a casual flick of her claws she ended the lives of the hastars then tossed them into the wagon; why carry them when she had this lovely device to do it for her?

She whistled and cast another spell, vines crawled from all over and picked up the wagon and carried it away to a safe spot where she would later look over what she'd stolen. She turned back to the Oblivionites. "Do be careful little dears! Next time I might kill you too!" She laughed and flew off after her currently flying wagon. It was probably more weapons and armor like the last few wagons she'd attacked... but the Firani could always melt those down and rebuild them into useful things for Khehora!

Hopefully there's tasty bread and sweets in here! It was a hope, small one but still one.. Skorga did love her sweets!
