"Not now." Because that was when he noticed the message she'd left on his hand and Ever blinked, smoothing his thumb over the writing to see if it smudged and then, finally, understanding what the marker was for. Combined with warnings about what happened when sleeping on the common room couches, he had sudden visions of much worse scribbles. He needed to get to a mirror.
"But thanks. Anyway. Can I try it alone, too, or is it always two people?"

She watched him smooth a thumb over his hand where she'd doodled, then chuckled. "That's the only doodle, scouts honor." She wasn't cruel enough to go to extremes.
"Hmmm." He considered her face, to make sure it was the truth: nothing sly in the corners of her eyes, or the curve of his mouth. Then Ever shrugged, easily, shoving his hands into his pockets and looking to the piranhas again before he offered her a smile in return.
"I'll come back later, then, let's get out of here before they shoot us full of more darts." Obviously it didn't work that way but -- he backed toward the entrance anyway.

Peyton merely looked up at him, smile still intact, as he considered the validity of her assurance.
"Sounds like a plan." She watched him backing towards the door as she got to her feet, and suppressed a soft chuckle. "Watch your step, The darts are really the least of your worries in here."
