Temper tempter. Carlos shook his head slightly. Temper had another meaning in this case. It meant something different. Mimsy clearly did not mean angry.
"Flim..." flam flickerdoodle he was about to say when he spotted something more problematic emerged from the crowd.
Eyes wide open he stared grin frozen to his face.
Mimsy had a plan. She had a plan she.... set him down?! His eyes widened more if possible. He just laid down on his side, feet not even carrying him.
And then he took one more look at the big, very big men and the eagle. Well if there was ever motivation, it was two giant reapers and a lot of claws.
Carlos took off after Mimsy, he might have slammed into a passer by along the way.
Even so he did not run like a denizen of independence town, no, he ran on all fours, trying desperately to scramble away between this leg and that and he even moved underneath someone's legs slipping under a skirt. Now was not the time to worry about things like modesty. He was being chased! Oh how he wished he could just turn invisible.
Petro succeeded in taking the heat off of the others, by bringing it all down upon himself. The two muscle men put their hands on his shoulders, turning him around.
"You need to come with us, son. All of you need to come with us - you're under suspicion of boredom."
Mimsy and Carlos took off behind Petro, and one of the men released Petro to take off after them. He pulled out a weapon from his pocket - no, not a weapon. A firework.

Authority was not something Petro instinctively challenged, but these weren't Halloweeners and the monster horse did not know if he should resist or go along. That is, until one of them brought out a weapon and pointed it at the ghoul he was certain had been part of his group. He may not know her, but she was a fellow Halloweener and therefore someone to protect.
He reached out for the man aiming the firework at Mimsy, "Y' fire that and 'm gonna bore on you," his voice was low but serious. Whether he actually knew what his threat meant was another story.
Deus Ex taught Mimsy many things that she really should never have known, but now she did, and there was no changing that. That was typically unfortunate, but it occasionally came in handy, albeit extremely rarely.
But when the man pulled a firework rocket from his pocket, she burst out laughing.
"Goodness, sir! I am married, and these are children!" She did not appear nearly as scandalized as she sounded, and stifling her giggles was becoming downright painful. "Put that away!"
The guy Ignatius scolded somehow managed to get caught anyway--maybe it was because he was not moving? Ignatius never stopped moving, really. Even when standing still he continued to fidget with all kinds of nervous energy, and so projecting that into a dance was fairly easy to do. In fact, the sheer energy of this place was something that actually appealed to him--ever since he went to Amityville, he had noticed a lot less of it around.
Of course, he was no longer surrounded by a bunch of lightning elementals and that was probably part of it, but this place had even more denizens than lightning elementals existed in his hometown, and so he couldn't help just going along with it.
Besides, honestly, if they were going to survive he needed to look as little like those other ones as possible, right?
Who was going to get them out of whatever boredom jail they were going to get themselves sent to if they all were drawing suspicion?
The man aiming the firework swiveled his gun in Petro's direction - successfully diverting attention away from the others once more. Petro sure was good at this! But now he was being handcuffed and read his rights.
"You have the right to scream and shout. Anything you say can and will be considered celebration in a court of law. You have the right to request drinks be served to you while your hands are cuffed. If you cannot afford drinks, drinks will be provided for you."
Unfortunately, the two officers holding Petro down were not the only ones there that night.
The screeching of another set of bald eagles signified that several special ops men were bearing down on Mimsy and Carlos, and they weren't the kind to warn first. One of them was already lighting the front of the giant hand held tank the first one grappled with. He aimed, and..
Brown eyes widened in horror as they fired at his classmates. He'd been doing a good job of distracting the enforcers, why stop now? But, but he was cuffed and unable to break away and run (also he would be the next target for those rockets and that would be a bad idea). What else can he do? Think, THINK, y' gotta do something big!
He got an idea and without caring that it was awful and terrible and might make his fellow Halloweeners lose respect for him, at least it might be enough to keep the rest of them safe.
What Carlos what hit! Carlos was hit! Carlos flopped the the ground like a rag doll, like a puppet that got it's strings cut. His grin never left his face but just stared at the one who fired at him with the most pathetic look he could.
The sound of eagles screeching was met with screeching laughter as they fired at them instead of putting it away, and Mimsy finally gave in and doubled over laughing. The erratic sound was a tremendously unattractive one to be coming from a woman in such a lovely dress, but she seemed to have missed the memo on femininity.
"That is obscene!" she cried, cackling so hard that tears collected in the corners of her eyes. "So filthy - and really, I have seen larger!"

Removing his clothes with such dexterity actually made the two men holding Petro jump back in surprise. Still cuffed, but technically free for the moment, Petro really was doing a fine job of getting everyone's attention - not just the authorities. In fact, the old woman was back.. and she thought Petro was a fine dance partner.
"WOO.. SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER SONNY!"
He was better off with the officers.

Both Carlos and Mimsy were down, and the team caught up with them, holding fireworks pointed directly at them threateningly. "Get up, put your hands behind your back, and - "
But Mimsy was cackling and laughing and truly, she was acting right in line with normalcy. So the officer aiming his firework at her held his hand out, and cackled along with her. "Haha, that's disgusting! You're kind of gross, but hey, at least you're having fun!"
The officer aiming at Carlos had yet to change his mind. Carlos was supremely suspicious.
