He had not been waiting there for too long before Chrissy had come up to the door, his nerves sort of fading upon seeing her face. The blank expression he had adopted just before then instantly formed into a smile. "I would say t'e same, but you know, it is your house," he said to her with a brief chuckle. He gave her a kiss on the lips, taking her in an embrace for a second. He followed her into her house, slipping the light jacket in which he had been wearing, leaving the ring that he had in the jacket pocket. He had honestly forgotten about it. He was just ready to celebrate an occasion, and that was her and his birthday. He didn't know how he was so blessed to find a woman that shared the same birthday as he did. He would never forget it that was for sure. It would take him a lot to forget his own birthday.

"A good week just turned into a great one," he said to her with a smile. He took a seat on her couch glad to be relaxing as well. He had a good week, but the week always started to tire him out by the end of it. He loved teaching other students, but it could be taxing on the mind, having to teach them something he knew so well. Some got it quickly, but it could become at times, painstakingly boring. "How was your week? Are the new students treating you well?" He looked to her with a bright smile. He hoped she wasn't having problems with them.

                                              Chrissy grinned when Bréanainn answered her with playful banter. She welcomed the kiss and embrace before Bréanainn entered the house and easily made himself at home. It was not surprising given that he had been there so often over their past few years of dating (oh good God it has been years! And the twins were getting so big!). However, no matter how often he came she couldn't resist the hint of panic at not having a big meal prepared or everything perfectly in place for her guest (despite not liking to do either). And he was a guest, still. They technically had never lived together though they had spent time at each others places and on vacation together, but that was not the same as consistently living with another.

                                              "Only a great one?" Chrissy teased Bréanainn as he took a seat on the couch. Moving her papers she set them on the coffee table before curling up next to him, a smile on her face. "I think the more reasonable fear is am I treating them well," She joked.

                                              She let out a sigh, "I have a good group, I usually do. I suppose there is this one third year that is a nuisance... for whatever reason he's decided not to talk. Sophie has him too but she works around it... me..." Chrissy shrugged, "I looked into it. He didn't talk first year but he started talking last year... or arguing aloud... but now he's back to playing mute. It's ridiculous if you ask me." She twirled a strand of her currently long brunette hair as she considered it and said, "Well at least he's not technically causing any problems in my class. If he wants to lose points in refusing to properly recite incantations without any documentation that says he can't that is his problem. He'll still pass if he does all his other work, though."

                                              "Anyways, how was your week?"

⊗⊗⊗⊗⊗

Bréanainn couldn't help but smile at her question, Chrissy curling up next to him immediately after. He wrapped his arm around her and smiled down at her. "Okay, you caught me, maybe it was an underestimation," he said to her, taking a look around for a brief moment. Her house hadn't really changed over the time that they had been dating. But it was still a lot more cozy than his place, that was for sure. It certainly helped that he was with Chrissy whenever he was at her home, a shining light in his relatively uneventful life. Her and the kids of course. "Oh, I'm sure you abuse t'em all t'e time," he said, sarcastic tone in his his voice. Maybe I should've asked whet'er or not t'ey are responding to your abuse well." He chuckled, shifting his body a bit to get more comfortable.

He listened to her answer, glad to hear that she had a good group. He did find it a little weird that a kid just chose not to talk, but it wasn't his place to judge him for the decision. He was sure whatever reason it was, it had to be an...interesting one. Bréanainn himself couldn't imagine not talking at all, the former Gryffindor being one of the most talkative kids when he went to Hogwarts. "It does sound somewhat ridiculous to me as well," he said, assuring her. "I imagine it must be a little hard for you to teach someone who doesn't respond. I can only imagine the difficulty I'll have wit' him." He laughed a bit.

"My week was good. T'e new students are okay kids. I haven't even had an argument really. It is really surprising because t'ere always is one kid that starts arguing wit' another student. I'm glad I don't have a class like history. I can only imagine t'e arguments kids get into in t'ose classes t'at are heavily lecture based.," he said to her.

                                              Chrissy moved some to kiss Bréanainn on the tip of her nose before settling back in her nesting spot beside him. "You're too obvious," She teased sticking out her tongue at him before leaning her head on his shoulder and nodding in agreement when he teased her about abusing them all the time. "I mostly stick to verbal abuse. I find them having a healthy dose of fear makes them behave better."

                                              When Bréanainn offered his opinion on the Hamilton-Blake boy, Chrissy opened her eyes and looked up to him and nodded. "He writes his answers on paper. There's another kid, a seventh year I think who's actually mute, he does that. My sister has him. I assume you have him too... Thomas or Theodore or something. I had his sister back in the 2030 class." She shrugged, "This Hamilton-Blake boy though... I'm not going to cater to him just because he decided he doesn't want to talk. That's not how things work. Kinder professors can bother with that."

                                              She rolled her eyes and listened as Bréanainn answered about his own week and she couldn't help but chuckle when he mentioned students getting into arguments in lecture based classes. "Better they get in arguments with each other than try to argue with the professor," Chrissy said, "The fourth years this year are pretty calm bunch from what I've seen of them last year. Really, we've been lucky for the past years in many ways. They've all been fairly good kids. Much better than previous groups, though I have to admit I've always been a bit fond of most of my problem students."

                                              She chuckled and added, "But we can talk about students any old time. Surely you have something better planned than talking about work. We'll start sounding old if that's all we talk about. And we have all this time to ourselves... my cousin is staying in London this weekend, even..." Chrissy added raising a brow her eyes dancing between the colors of blue to her more mischievous green.

Bréanainn Cian Conri
Charm's Professor(4-7)||Former Gryffindor||Father of Two

⊗⊗⊗⊗⊗

Bréanainn couldn't help but smile at the soft touch of her lips, further removing the nervousness he had harbored earlier that day. She was his one escape from it ironically. "Am I really?" he asked her out of curiosity. He didn't care what the answer was to the question. He could imagine he'd become more predictable over the time they'd been dating to the woman, but then again, obvious wasn't exactly predictable either. He smiled again as the soft touch of Chrissy's head had found its way onto his shoulder, the woman commenting on his joke about her abuse towards the students.

"I can definitely see t'at being t'e case. If you abuse t'em like you used to abuse me when we first started dating, t'en t'ey will want to be on t'eir best behavior," he joked, laughing a bit and winking at her. She didn't verbally abuse him by any means but sarcasm was definitely present quite often. He didn't complain about it however because for him, the one whose confidence was through the roof, could take it and even fire it back at her. It always provided for a good conversation even before they were dating. Upon hearing her observations of the young boy however and equating his behavior to that of Timothy Whitethorne, he instantly filled in the name. "Ah...you are talking about Timothy Whitethorne." He tried to actually enunciate the h's in his name, which he found it hard to do because of the accent that he had all of his life. "Well, t'at is understandable if he isn't actually mute. He might be a little shy t'ough or going t'rough some t'ings. My own brot'er had done the same t'ing when his wife had passed and he... He trailed off a bit, not too sure he should be revealing his brother's past. "Well, unbeknownst to me or anyone for that matter had given up his child Eurion." Bréanainn didn't go into the darker details about the whole ordeal. The child was doing well for himself presently the last time he had heard. Bréanainn had even had the pleasure of teaching him. He was a bit of a troublemaker, much like his Uncle during school years, but he seemed to turn that around.

He listened to her return comments about the classes, nodding his head along with her. She brought up very good points really. He'd rather them argue amongst themselves then with authority any day. He could quell an argument between kids, but there was something about arguing with a professor that strengthened student's resolve at times. He would argue that it gave them an adrenaline rush. It was much harder to deal with that than the later of the two. "I agree. The kid's have been wonderfully pleasant, but of course, t'ere will always be one I'm sure." That was his last thoughts on the subject. He of course could talk to her about school anytime he visited her in her office as she noted. So he moved on from it in favor of a much more intimate one.

He smiled when she asked him what his plans were for her. It was their birthday after all. But he did take this time to joke around a bit. "Hey, hey, hey, why do I always have to come up with the plans around here?" he joked, figuring he might as well see what she had to say before he answered her.

                                              "Yep," Chrissy said with a grin about his obviousness. Holding up her pinkie finger she said, "See this, you are wrapped around it... not that I'm complaining or anything, darling. That's exactly where you're supposed to be." She snuggled back into her spot with her head against his shoulder and listened to his joking about the abuse she could spoon out.

                                              "Oh I abuse you far worse then them, they're young and don't have proper confidence. I try to not crush their emotions too horribly as for you..."
                                              She paused and gave a slight shrug, "I was never too worried about you." The conversation then turned to students and he named the other mute child. She merely nodded until Bréanainn mentioned his brother. She sat up and turned to look at him, brows furrowed in concentration and her hair lightening slightly to its more natural blonde as her interest was distracted by what he said. Bréanainn never was one to speak much about his brother and Chrissy always suspected it was because the brother had some skeleton in his closet a bit like Sophie did. "You have a nephew?" Chrissy asked before taking a long breath and standing, her hair darkening once again to brunette and she said, "Maybe it's awful of me but I don't find losing someone as a proper excuse to close yourself off to the whole world. I didn't when... when Dad went and shot himself." She turned to look back at Bréanainn and said, "Closing yourself off or making rash decisions just makes things worse. Just because one person does it doesn't make it okay for others to. I mean my sister sort of is reclusive too, especially after... well everything that happened that summer, but she still talks and didn't abandon family."

                                              Chrissy let out a long sigh, pinching her bridge of her nose and sat back down, "Sorry... I shouldn't have said anything. It isn't my place to judge your brother. Or the Hamilton-Blake kid for that matter. Being judgmental is a sin, after all."

                                              Thankfully the conversation moved on to a lighter note of discussing their plans for the day. He joked why he always was the one required to make plans and she answered with her typical, "You're the guy. It's the guys job to make all the plans. I thought we've been over this. It's the perks of dating men for me."

Bréanainn Cian Conri
Charm's Professor(4-7)||Former Gryffindor||Father of Two

⊗⊗⊗⊗⊗

He couldn't help laugh but laugh at her words, but he did know that there was honesty around them. He was wrapped around her finger at that point. Anything she wanted him to do for her, he probably would. Not because the fact that he just naturally was 'whipped', but because he loved her. "Hey! I...yeah, I've got nothing at t'is point," he said to her with the faintest of grins. "You're right, I'm all yours Chrissy." He felt her head rest back against his shoulders again, taking this chance to get a little closer to her yet again.

He paid close attention to her words with interest, an even bigger smile forming on his face. "You know, I couldn't help but figure as much. I've never been one to show a lack of confidence," he said to her, the man boasting what would be the highest confidence levels the world has ever seen. He knew he could be obnoxious at times, but it seemed that Chrissy knew how to deal with it. Then again, the confidence she harbored for herself fiercely rivaled that of his own; so naturally their similarities helped their relationship quite a bit. Bréanainn finally understood why he always heard the phrase, 'Birds of a feather flock together.' Him and Chrissy had differences of course, her definitely being the more intelligent of the two, but they had their similarities.

It seemed that he held even more attention from Chrissy as the conversation shifted towards his brother. Bréanainn never really talked about his half-brother. There was a reason however. The man had a dark past that everyone in their family could not look away from. The man's mother had always been able to connect with Cadoc, but unfortunately, she was rather livid upon hearing that he had given up his child. Bréanainn was as well, knowing that he could have at least provided the boy with a better life than his brother would have given him. His brother had even presented him with a new name, 'Robin Gibbs'. However, the man did not tell him where he had taken him and left Bréanainn to try and search for the boy. But to no avail, he didn't find him. It wasn't until over ten years later that he would first meet the boy. "Yes, I do. Do you remember when I asked you about a certain student...Robin? It was a few years ago, but I do remember asking about him. I never t'ought t'at it would take fourteen or fifteen years later until I would actually get to meet him. He of course hadn't a clue who I was and still doesn't. I never had the chance too...properly tell him, which I actually wanted to ask you about. Do you t'ink I should tell him t'e truth? When Mary and Quinn were born, family became an absolute priority and Robin...well, he is family," he said, confiding the only secret he had left to tell. He hoped she didn't think any less of him for it either. The only reason he didn't tell her was because the lone fact that he didn't want her to believe that he would be a father that would just leave his children when the going gets tough because he wasn't.

He watched in surprise as she stood on her feet. Her opinions on his brother's actions were quite cold, but the interesting part is that he had agreed with her. Bréanainn did instantly feel terrible because he made Chrissy reminisce on such a bad memory of hers. It was certainly not his intention. He did listen to what she had to say however, not interrupting her. He waited until she sat back down to say anything of note. "Chrissy, just know t'at I couldn't agree with you more. It isn't a good excuse for it. In fact, I told him just t'at after a few mont's of his prolonged silence. Unfortunately, months turned into years very quickly. All he told me about t'at was t'at he was in France, t'at's it. Didn't hear anyt'ing from him during t'ose few years. his mot'er was devastated and never forgave him for the whole ordeal, but I did, because he was family," he said to her, shaking his head. "Maybe I'm a bit naive for it, but I believe in second chances."

He was glad that the conversation got a little lighter though. He did take his chance to apologize for making her think about what had to be the most traumatic event during her life. He turned his head to her and made sure he had made some eye contact with her. He took her hand in his. "Listen, I'm sorry I made you recall t'at event in your life. It was not my intention," he said sincerely. He had not even thought of the prospect before he had said anything. "So, let me cook you dinner to make it up to you. That's one of the things I wanted to do for you for your birthday." Chrissy usually was the one cooking whenever he came over, but he figured he could give it a try. He knew how to cook pretty well, his mother giving him a few lessons on how to cook some traditional Irish foods. So, he hoped it would go well.

                                              A crease formed between Chrissy's brow as she listened to Bréanainn, sitting straight, then leaning forward, propping her chin up with one hand. She listened with undivided attention when he confessed to keeping his brother's secret. In a way Chrissy could understand, she never revealed her sister's secret. Though abandoning your own child and being a werewolf were two very different things. Of course there was the fact that her own father was the one to infect Sophie. Chrissy was sure that the two were different, even if both could be in a way a fault of medical conditions. One a magical ailment the other a mental one. She sighed when Bréanainn asked her opinion. Pausing for a moment she finally answered, "You were stupid not to tell him years ago. Or was it not a matter of stupidity but cowardice?" She asked, eyes narrowing, "He could very easily have hated you for his seven years of Hogwarts and made your life very uncomfortable if he wanted."

                                              She took a moment before continuing, remarking dryly, "I'm so glad that becoming a father instilled some sort of ethics in you that you should have had all along, Bréanainn Cian Conri. Do I think you should tell your own nephew that he isn't some orphan and that his father is just some moronic a*****e who ditched him and didn't have the common decency to tell his own family what he did? Seriously, Bréanainn? What do you think I'd say? He deserves to have the right to tell you and his Dad to go to Hell all things considered, but he also has the right to have a family if he wants it."

                                              She shook her head and looked away at the fire, not saying anything more for a moment before he tried to justify the situation to her. She looked back at him, her eyes their natural blue and she said, "Kids grow up fast. I mean look at Mary and Quinn. As for forgiving your brother... you're a better person than me. I never was good at forgiving people. I know Jesus says to turn the other cheek but I tend to side with the 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me' mentality. My sister was always the one good at forgiving people."

                                              When Bréanainn apologized and took her hand, she looked down before pulling her hand away and said quietly, "It technically was two events, one just happened to be my father deciding to take the cowards approach to answering for what he had done." Her eyes darkened to black and she looked in the fire and said, "I'd rather not talk about it, though. Nothing can be done to solve the matter, so..." Sighing, she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and looked over to Bréanainn who suggested cooking for her. "You can cook?" She said, half joking. "It's your birthday, too, you know. I'm supposed to return the favor somehow. You haven't told me what you wanted. I guess I could have gotten you a tie or something but that's boring."

Her words resonated through him and made its way through him like a speeding bullet. He was left wordless as he began to feel as if he made the biggest mistake in his life not telling the boy that he was biological family. All of those times he could've told the poor boy and well...he didn't seize the opportunity. "I don't know why I didn't tell him Chrissy. I still to this day question 'why?'," he responded to her question, silencing himself afterward. Was he a coward? Did he not say anything to the young boy because Bréanainn was afraid of what he would say? All these years he could've told Theo about his real family and he didn't, that was the fact in all of it.

He took the tongue-lashing from Chrissy with patience, her words cutting through him like a hot-knife. It just made him all-the-more realize that withholding information from Theo was just a huge mistake. She did take the chance to insult his brother, albeit justifiable. He would not say anything because Cadoc did deserve the hostility. Bréanainn himself was hostile towards him because of what he had done. In the eyes of many, the mistakes were ones in which although self-repentance was possible, forgiveness from others was not. He selfishly gave up his first born child in a feeble attempt to move past his wife's demise and that to most would be considered unforgivable. "Alright, I will tell him as soon as possible...everyt'ing. I get now how big of a mistake it was to wit'hold t'at kind of information from my own nephew," he trailed, leaving the conversation at that. He wouldn't discuss the newfound ethics. Because he did believe that he had it, but for some reason did not show it. Maybe he was just a coward.

He started to feel as if he was somehow completely in the wrong as she pulled her hand away from him. He also got the notion that she was frustrated with him about it, but he didn't know. He just let the subject go as she instructed, feeling as if it would be meaningless to discuss it any further. She obviously had some bad memories about it; so he would not press her to relive them. He wouldn't wish that on his worst enemy, let alone his significant other. So, he just let the conversation switch towards his cooking. "Uhm...yeah, I can. My mot'er taught me how to prepare some traditional Irish foods during my Hogwarts years and I never forgot t'em. I mean, I'm not an amazing chef, but I'm at least slightly proficient," he said to her with a bit of uncertainty. He hoped he didn't screw it up, but he knew if he did, he would just give up on the endeavor.

"Well, as for my birthday, I'm not sure I really need anything. Spending the time with you in great enough for me," he revealed to her, the smile he had once carried on his face returning. He wanted to make the best out of the day after their somewhat depressing conversation.

                                              "It's a little too late for regret," Chrissy answered Bréanainn, "It doesn't really do any good. All it does it just kills you slowly if you let it. You can only move forward." She forced a grim smile and when Bréanainn made up his mind to tell the child, Robin, about himself she took his hand. "If it helps, I can go with you. That's what family is for... and we're family... sort of. I mean we aren't married or anything but we have Quinn and Mary together."

                                              Closing her other hand around Bréanainn's hand she already clasped she said, "I promise to be there with you. I mean it can be hard but maybe it'll turn out how things did when ViVi looked us up? She was thrilled to have more family, skeletons in our closet and all."

                                              As the conversation turned to something lighter-food-Chrissy chuckled as he explained his culinary expertise. Chrissy had some doubts as traditional Irish food was something she only had a few times, mostly for the sake of Bréanainn, as she had grown up with good ol' Southern cooking, American food, a few Puerto Rican and Caribbean dishes when she went to Pre-Wiz school in Florida. If anything she rarely saw the big appeal though she suspected the same could be said of Bréanainn not appreciating her love for corn bread. "You're probably a better cook than I am when it comes to Irish dishes," Chrissy said, "I mean I don't have a drop of Irish in me, even if my Dad was a redhead. Besides if it turns out too bad I do have some left over beef stew in the crock-pot."

                                              She stood and kissed Bréanainn on the forehead and said, "Nah, I have faith in you. And stop being such a suck-up. 'Spending time with you is great enough for me'? Pfft... come one we know that isn't entirely true. 'Lot of ways to spend time with someone, right?" She added with a wink.

Bréanainn Cian Conri
Charm's Professor(4-7)||Former Gryffindor||Father of Two

⊗⊗⊗⊗⊗

Bréanainn accepted the truths behind her words with a nod of his head. Regret only holds a person back and Bréanainn couldn't let himself feel as if it was a mistake to not tell the boy any longer. The temptation of feeling regret sometimes overwhelmed one's will however and he found himself falling under its pressure. If not for Chrissy's words, the feeling would be ten fold however. He had to realize that he was not infallible. Everyone made mistakes, even him. "You're right. I can't let myself by t'is way," he said sternly, shaking his head for a few seconds before her offer was made.

Bréanainn was almost at a loss of words at the offer she made to him. The weight of her words hit him like a hammer and the warm touch of her hand only reinforced that even further. Her promise astounded him. He didn't know she would go to such great lengths to help him and he loved that she would. He took this time to give her a kiss to the cheek as he thought about what to say to her. He knew his answer almost immediately, but his loss for words had lingered. "I wouldn't have it any ot'er way Chrissy. I would love to have you t'ere by my side when I tell him," he admitted to her, a smile forming on his face. It was at this point that Bréanainn came to realize, Chrissy was the love of his life. He always had his doubts, mainly from his own past experiences, but he knew if she indeed did this for him, his doubt would vanish. His thoughts lingered to the ring that was within his jacket pocket back near the home's entrance. "Maybe he'll accept me as his family. I certainly hope he will but we will see."

As the conversation moved to cooking, the mood really lightened, and despite how happy he was when Chrissy told him she would go with him, he was thankful. He was also thankful that he actually got that conversation out of the way and she didn't hate him afterward. It was the only thing that he had left to reveal to her, the beautiful brunette knowing everything else there was to know about him. Well, other than his cooking experience, which she seemed a bit surprised to hear about as well. He did spare a laugh when she said that he was a better cook than she was in Irish dishes. "Honestly, you probably still are, but my mot'er does make a good dublin coddle and even better beer bread," he said, still laughing. "But I figured since you were the one t'at always cooks that I'd give you a break for t'e day."

"You better have fait' in me!" he said jokingly, actually hoping that he didn't let her down though. But then again, her beef stew was amazing. But was it amazing enough to butcher one of his presents to her...yes, definitely. But he knew that he shouldn't do that. "Hey, it is true. I enjoy my time wit' you, whet'er it is like we did before or ot'er t'ings," he responded, birthdays always being the best time of the year for more reasons than one.

                                              Chrissy nodded when Bréanainn agreed with her regarding regret. She knew all too much about how bad regret was. Regret didn't help the fact she didn't think to stop Sophie from going to their father when he had gotten hurt and was still in wolf form. Regret didn't bring their father back to help Sophie deal with her change. And regret didn't change the fact she had run from home for so long and even though she took Sophie with her to Hogsmeade the two had seemed to grow farther apart instead of closer. Chrissy barely knew where Sophie stayed when she wasn't at the castle or visiting the Homestead (which was perhaps once or twice a year now).

                                              When Bréanainn looked stunned at her offer to go with him, Chrissy immediately bit her lip wondering if she had said something wrong? Surely she wasn't too forward. Honestly she wasn't sure if it would help anything either for the boy, no, young man. Robin Theo Gibbs was now a young man with a job with the ministry she had heard. Many in his class had gotten married or were married, some already with children. Some did not surprise her. Would it be more overwhelming to Theo if he had not only one professor there for this confession but two? Or would Theo see her as another familiar face or a semi-neutral party. Chrissy did not have this family drama connected to her in anyway, she only got sucked in by hormones, family obligation of having kids with the man she held the hand of, and yes now affection and even love. No, Chrissy's families had their own family problems, ones even now she didn't discuss with Bréanainn partly out of fear that he wouldn't be so accepting of her if he found out she was half were-wolf. Sort of. It wasn't like the trait could be passed through conception but Bréanainn didn't strike Chrissy as the most open minded of wizards. It wasn't like she had originally chose to hook up with him for the long haul and now she was terrified he might abandon her and the kids if he did find out. She could handle being alone she just didn't like the idea. "You'll never know until you tell him," Chrissy said of Theo, glad when the conversation changed back to their more playful banter. She wasn't in any mood to spill her family secrets.

                                              "What in tarnation is dublin coddle or better beer bread?" She asked, raising a brow in confusion. "And Sophie used to cook more than me... or she did before she moved out when we started seeing each other more regularly." Chrissy shrugged and said, "Too bad ViVi doesn't get the hint and she move out with that boy she's seeing from some tattoo shop. At least whatever those two crazy kids do stays at his place."

                                              She shook her head and smiling said, "I have faith in you... a little." Winking she said, "I have to say, while you are quite pleasant to snuggle up to on the couch instead of fire, it isn't quite the pace I want all the time. Especially if it is about long serious conversations. But, hey, we've come up to a solution about the boy. You can just send an owl to him sometime and we can swing by and have a cup of iced tea... coffee... whatever you people drink with him. I figure in public might be good so he's less likely to hex you."
