Just like that, all of the anger washed away; dissipated like sea foam across the sandy shore. He saw it, really, he did. Maybe it was because of that he had let his mind slip, and those words tumbled faster than he could have projected. Or maybe he really hadn't noticed at all and was just so wrapped up in not trying to get himself in trouble (because dammit, he was hoping to get a good shag tonight.) But that was thrown out the window by the shrill of wind whistling past his ears and the walls of the loft tumbled on their side. No! Wait! He was on his side, now! That glass of wine had toppled over and splattered all over his jeans, soaked into the carpets and caught sprays of droplets on the bed comforter. It was cold, and thick, and sticky, and he tried so, so hard not to think about it. His elbows bounced back and forth on the mattress as she shook him; his face was a mix of shock, annoyance, confusion, and guilt, all twisted in his lips to the shape of an 'o'.
βUgh, c'mon!β He was exasperated, clumsily trying to bring himself to a sitting position so he wasn't outstretched like a hefty sack of Bertie Botts jelly beans. βYou know that's not what I meant!β He complained, an edge sharpened his tone. βI know you know that's not what I meant.β He waved his hand for an exaggerated effect, completely blinded to the real root of the problem.
It wasn't until she threw her hands back up at him in response and mumbled that he finally quieted down. βOh.β It was dumb. It was bloody moronic! But it was all he could think to say at the moment.
He knew she wasn't really jealous of the hound dog; not really. Not the little girl herself compared to what she represented, what she could do that Gracie couldn't. He sighed, long and hard. Scooted to the edge of the bed and slung forward, Dominic held his head in his hands for a slow, paralyzing moment. His frown hung deep, the wrinkles there looked more accustomed to the frown than it ever did his smile. βYou know we have to talk about this right...?β He didn't look up at first, he was almost worried to see the look on her faceβto see if she was still even there. βC'mere,β he gestured, held out a hand for her to hold and waited for her to climb in his lap, beside him, anywhere so she was at least near him.
β....In a few years people might finally start to notice, some'll whisper, others will talk. But I don't care. It doesn't mean a thing. As long as I have you.... I promise.β
See? He wasn't always a git. Now if he could just keep this up and stop from belching out the first thing that comes to his mind like, 'licorice caramel sugar quills' and 'can we snog now?' He should be just fine! Now to remember what spell it was that's supposed to clean up all this blood....?

The single 'oh' was all she needed as confirmation that yes it was dumb. It probably the dumbest thing she'd ever stated, and that was saying something, because she said stupid s**t all the time. She didn't look at him, she was scared of what she'd see. She just stared at the wall past his head, and did her best to not be upset or angry or feel anything, because if she did, she would cry, and she really didn't want to cry.
She hated thinking about everything that could go wrong and would go wrong in their relationship. She didn't want to think about the future. She wished the future didn't exist. The future meant too many things that she was terrified of, but he was right, they had to talk about it, because not talking about it just led to this same old fight over and over and over again. Sure, the fight always had the cover of something else, usually something stupid, but it always came down to the same issue. She was never going to die, and he was. There were so many parts of his life that she would always miss and she would never be awake for.
Finally she took his extended hand and quietly climbed into his lap, before curling against his body and resting her head on his shoulder. She ground her teeth together at his words, forcing herself to not cry. She was so tempted to just distract him away from the subject. She didn't want to talk about it. She liked pretending everything was okay and that they were a perfectly normal couple and nothing was wrong. It was bullshit though, and she knew he thought about it just as much as she did.
"You talk like I'm going to go somewhere." She whispered. "I'm not running off anywhere. You're the only thing I want in this entire damn world Dominic. I'm never leaving you Dom, not until you....." She trailed off slowly. She didn't want to say it. She didn't want to say 'not until you die.' It was so morbid, and so far off, but it was on her mind constantly.
"It's all my fault." A hand twisted into her hair out of agitation as her voice raised in level, anger once again there, but not at him this time. She was mad at herself this time. "We could have been normal! We could have been perfect! But I screwed it all up and-" Fingers tugged at her hair as she swallowed hard. Anything to stop herself from crying or freaking out. A long pause hung in the air as she attempted to force her next words out. All the thoughts she'd been hiding deep in her mind, because if she said them, he might listen to her fears and that terrified her.
"I don't know why you stay. You could be happy with someone else. You could have a normal life. You wouldn't have to worry about what people will say....."

Her resistance wasn't one-sided, not at all. He dragged his heels into this conversation, procrastinated, pushed it back for years. Sure, occasionally, he would consider the reality of the fact that, yes, this is his first relationship. And yes, it's pretty much guaranteed to not last. But that didn't have to be so. In the mornings he'd wake up so alone, and wonder. But every night he knew he had her. βI knooow,β he mumbled. Heavy arms coiled around her for support, a hand on her thigh and wrapped around her waist. A sigh fluttered under his breath and he hid his face in her hair, tucked into the nook of her neck and all he could see was pink.
ββDon't say itββ he cut her off, didn't even hear her trailing off, all he could hear was that word in his head. Dead. Until he's dead. It might not happen for a hundred years, or he could break his neck during his next practice and just... Dominic bit his tongue; it was hard not to think about it.
βIt's not your fault,β he furrowed his brows and frowned. βYou couldn't have known. You said it was an accident, right?β To this day, Dom still didn't know why she was in the Forbidden Forest that night, what had gotten her there and how it all happened. βYou're still here.... That's all that matters.β He paused, ignored the flips in the pit of his stomach as she broke loose and voiced her thoughts. He'd thought them, too. Not often, but once or twice on a rainy afternoon. He couldn't help it. But it always brought him right back to the same answer. βBut I wouldn't be happy. I know I wouldn't. I don't want a normal life. If I did, I would've listened to my mum all those years ago, I wouldnt've gone into professional qudditich, I wouldn't be here with you, but I am.
βYou're not getting rid of me that easy.β He tried to comfort her with a small peck on the cheek and a lopsided smile.

Grace shrugged and burried her face deeper in his neck, wishing she could block out the world. "What happened was an accident... but I should have never been out in the forest and I should never have been trying to do things I knew I couldn't. Its my fault because I chose to go out there." She sighed quietly and lifted her face so she could look him in the face. She worried her lip before pressing her forehead to his and lifting her hands to rest against his cheeks softly.
A smile twitched on her cheeks slightly when he told her that she wasn't getting rid of him that easily. She pressed a gentle soft kiss to the tip of his nose. "Good... cuz I think I need you to breathe." Grace ignored the fact she actually didn't need to breathe, because he'd get the point. He was the one she needed to survive. She loved him so much. "I'm sorry I get mad about stupid things.... and I'm sorry I can't be there all the time. I love you..." She sat their silently for a few long minutes, just watching him silently. She loved him and he loved her and that was all that really mattered.
Suddenly she shoved him down on his back against the bed and pressed her forehead against his. "But....." She whispered, sounding a lot more sultry and a lot less angry. "You did still basically call me a b***h and make me make myself sound really dumb." She whispered into his ear, grinning mischievously. "You know you really shouldn't make me angry.... kitten." She teased, using his nickname for her against him. At least she knew how to make him mad.... which was always fun.. in the end.

His arms adjusted to coddle her closer to his chest, her face disappeared from view curtained by pink. A silent sigh was heavy on his lips as he dipped his chin atop her head, slid clumsy fingers through her hair careful to not pull any tangles if he found any. He was worried; he hated knowing he could never be with her, not truly, not in death. This world was a blink in the eye of what was to come, and he dreaded knowing he would face it, whatever it was, alone. He wanted to argue more, but thought better of it and relished in the silence. He could almost pretend that time was still, that nothing would change... If he could only focus on the present. Just then, she shifted, and tilted her head back to look up at him. Her hands felt frozen as they grazed his cheeks. He smiled softly, and it grew, wider and wider, if only because her shirt was ruffled and the view was expansive. βYou don't have to apologize, mon amour, I love you too.β It was with a small chuckle he tore his gaze away from her chest, planted a soft kiss on her lips and was then thrown aside and onto his back.
βWell now,β he smirked cheekily with hands on her hips. Of course, he hadn't at all expected those next words to come flying past her lips like a taunting slap. βOh, c'mon, I did not! And I don't think you really needed my help on that.β He implied, laughing gently under his breathβuntil she said it. βOi! What! Did you just?β He scoffed, rolled his eyes and laughed. βI'll let you get away with that this time.β He bristled, obviously still unamused by it, even if it did make him smile.
βWoman, you've gone mad.β He murmured, laughing and shaking his head as he said so. βNow c'mere and kiss me, dammit.β

Grace giggled madly, as if to prove his point and hovered over him teasingly. Dark eyelashes fluttered around vibrant eyes as she watched, him smiling widely. She loved his laugh and his smile. Okay honestly she loved just about everything about him. "You're only letting me get away from it, because you wanna shag." She teased, before finally allowing their lips to meet. Pale fingers tugged at his shirt insistently and her body pressed against him in all ways possible.
Just because she was teasing him about wanting to shag pretty much all the time, didn't mean she didn't feel the same way. "Don't worry." She whispered, breaking their kiss. "I know I'll always be your kitten." The purr was followed by soft kisses pressed along his neck.
The way she saw it, she had two choices. She could either worry about their future and impending doom, or she could live in the now, and enjoy him for as long as she possible could. If she spent all her time worrying about the future she'd forget to enjoy the present while it lasted. She could spend forever arguing with him about this and that and being upset and angry and scared, or she could hold the good times close and try to freeze them in time to enjoy forever. Because that's what she had in her future. She had forever. She had hundreds of years maybe millions. Her life had no expiration date anymore, and she wanted to be able to remember him for all of her forever. The good times, not the bad ones. She wanted to be able to remember him... them... for what they should have been, and could have been, not for fights and stupid senseless screaming.
She sighed and smiled, nuzzling her nose against his neck happily. "If I'm mad, your mad too. Lets be mad together."

Brows scrunched up creased with worry; it was her laughter that'd done it, that giggle always led to trouble. Mesmerized, his gaze was transfixed on her, followed her every motion. βPffft, only mostly.β He retorted with a quite over exaggerated matter-of-fact voice, all the while, his hands pawed over her. βYou know you want it.β He smirked now this time, but it didn't last. His lips were pulled into a teasing kiss, it was hard to ignore the tug at his clothing. βHm?β He responded instinctively curious when told not to worry, brow quirked and one eyelid fluttered open to watch her. She fluttered down to his neck, cold lips leaving chills across his flesh as he tilted his head to one side, exposing the skin. He just laughed.
Dominic relished in the moment; imagined a world where time stood still. A chuckle underlined his words as he grinned and dimples adorned each cheek. βI think that can be arranged,β he mused jokingly. βSooooooo, it'll be the end of the summer soon...β he suggested with wiggling brows. βWhat do you want to do for our anniversary this year?β He was excited, but he tried not to let it show. Not only was it going to be their fifth year together, but it would be the first year he actually had galleons to spend on her. It wouldn't be pity presents exchanged and a couple of snogging sessions under a starry sky. Dominic wanted this to be special.
He wanted it to be big.

Gracie grinned down at him, pressing her forehead to his and a gentle kiss to his nose. "Of course I do. I always do." She teased, winking at him, and tugging at his shirt once again, wondering when he'd get the idea that that particular piece of clothing should definitely not be on his body anymore. She couldn't help herself though, and only moments later her lips were back against his neck. She loved the feeling of his pulse beating against her lips, racing faster with every move she made, every kiss. She was only half paying attention to his words. She was just barely resisting biting him, because god damn it that was weird.... right? She honestly didn't know anymore.
His question pulled her away just before she finally gave into her urges and she pulled away, and sat back, resting her weight against her arms which were palm down on his chest. "We've been together for five years Dom, I think you should know by now I don't give a damn what we do as long as we're together," She dropped back down against his chest, lips against his ear, "And so long as the night ends like this." She giggled and pressed a few soft kisses along his jaw before she was once again snogging him.

As Gracie leaned in close to boop him with a kiss on the nose, he stole her lips in his for a quick second and smiled. A little growl escaped the depths of his throat as she teased him, tugged at his shirt and flashed him a delicate wink. βI knew it.β He laughed. Slid his eyes to a close and hummed thoughtfully as her lips teased the nape of his neck. Before he knew it, he was beginning to wiggle and squirm out of shirt before he tossed it aside on the ground. Feverish, Dominic pawed at the ends of her bright pink hair playfully as she pressed her palms against his chest to shift her weight around.
βMhmmm,β he murmured in reply just before she pressed a few simple kisses against his jawline until they met his lips once again. But eventually, he broke away from the kiss to fix her with a pointed look. βYou never give a damn about anything,β he pointed out. βYou're so indecisive sometimes,β he lamented and groaned with an exaggerated roll of his eye. He may have been stretching the truth, but sometimes it could certainly feel that way. βYou're gonna help me come up with something absolutely bloody brilliantβbecause I'll take nothing less than that, I mean honestly, we deserve it don't weβand dammit woman, I will cut you off if I have too.β Dominic was serious, but he was also laughing under his breath with every word so it might have been hard to tell the difference. Either way, it seemed he was going to be determined about this.
βAnd don't think you can just change the subject missy because you think you can snog me and I'll shut up, oh, no, because I'll just snog you twice as long and complain twice as hard.β He was a little more serious this time, he had to admit. He wasn't laughing for one, and he maintained straight laced features, but those deep dimples were a dead giveaway to the smile he was trying so viciously to hide.

Grace blinked down at him, only half way listening to him as she trailed pale fingers across his now bare chest (thank god he finally got the clue). "Hmmmm....?" Se blinked trailing eyes back up to meet his and grinning mischievously. "You don't honestly think I can listen to you and make decisions, when you're so damn sexy and within my reach?" The purr slid from her lips as she started pressed deliberate kisses all over his face, nails sliding down his chest in the most seductive manner she could manage.
" And I don't think think I can Dom. I know a few kisses and possibly a little stripping and you'll forget all about bugging me about decisions." She fluttered eyelashes at him innocently and kissed the tip of his nose once again.
She knew it was important to hi though. She wasn't quite sure why it was, but she knew it was. To her, it was just another anniversary and she could be doing whatever and be happy as long as he was there, bestowing love and presents on her like she was a Goddess. His Goddess.... (yes she was a tiny bit self absorbed that was not the point).
She sat up, trying to be good, and not get distracted by his chest and his muscles and "Mmm....." She was really very bad at this game. Blue eyes slowly forced themselves back up to his face and she blew a strand of hair away from her face as she looked down at him. "Well....." She said slowly, just barely keeping her eyes from wandering yet again. "...." She paused, trying to think of something they could do that was both, normal and romantic, and vampire friendly. She would suggest dinner, but she didn't eat.... food.... anymore, and most coupley things were not very conducive to her time schedule. "Uhhh..."
She lost her focus, fingers sliding back down his chest, lips pressing decisively to his. She was trying, but damn it was hard. He had to give her at least some credit. But mixing things like decision making with him being half naked underneath was bound to not work out well for him. She disliked making decision in the first place, let alone when it was getting in the way of sexy times.

βPffft,β he scoffed and rolled his eyes, crossed both arms behind his head for a pillow. He actually rather liked this, pretending (or somewhat anyway) that he wasn't interested, which really only made her want it all the more. He could lie back and she'd do aalllll the work. Beneath her fingers, his flesh left a wake of chills in her path. βExcuses excuses,β he mused, rocked himself backwards against the coils of the mattress so she bounced gently up and down in rhythm. Now his eyes were too distracted until she leaned in close to press an innocent kiss on his nose. But he knew it was anything but innocent.
Finally, she decided to at least pretend to try. He cocked a brow expectantly, and waited, and waited, and waited. βAre you serious? You can't even think of one thing?β Dominic only sounded a little exasperated, mostly amused that she had managed to hold herself back for as long as she had. (And with him inadvertently flexing his muscles every time she glanced down.) Before long, he heard the squeaks and squeal of the basset hound puppy at the foot of the bed, scrambled her paws at the bottom of the wooden frame. βWould you get that little girl before she rips something else up?β He beckoned with the tilt of his head. βAnd if you don't want to do anything, then we don't have to...β He said with a forlorn shrug of his shoulder and the ghost of a frown on his lips. Maybe he was trying to make her feel guilty, but it wasn't anything she hadn't done to him! So that meant it had to be fair... Right?

Gracie was doing her damned best to ignore his attempts at distracting her. He was such a little git sometimes. He wanted an answer and yet there he was lying there doing his damned best to distract her so she couldn't give him an answer. Blue eyes glared down at him grumpily as he mocked her inability to come up with an idea. Just as the vampire was about to swat his chest and ignore him for the rest of the night, out of sheer pettiness the puppy came rolling into the room, yapping and clawing at their bed frame.
Grace glanced down at the dog and sighed. "Dominic if you don't get her trained soon I will." She warned him, although her threat held little value, seeing as he was probably avoiding doing so just so she would end up doing the work for him. Which was annoying in a whoe other way. Finally the pink haired wild child leaned down and pulled the puppy up to the bed, before plopping her right onto the middle of Dom's chest and smirking at him while Smores drooled absent mindlessly onto him.
At his attempted guilt trip though, she rolled her eyes and flicked his nose. "You know I want to do something!" She said, flicking his nose once again but this time a smile on her lips. "You've turned me into too much of a spoiled brat to not expect the most grand and extravagant of things whenever we're celebrating anything." The grin that adorned her lips now was sarcastic, even though the words were utterly true. Dominic had spoiled her and it was his own fault that she always got her way around him and complained when she didn't. She sighed dramatically and with the noise, the puppy was bouncing up on Dom's chest to place her front paws against Grace.
Blue eyes glanced down at the puppy and she chuckled quietly, scratching the girl behind the ears and raising an eyebrow at Dom. "I think she likes me more than you." She teased, giggling as Smores began licking and chewing on her fingers. "You know what we could do?" She muttered, the thought suddenly coming to her. "I mean its not very extravagant or big like you want.... but we could always just go back to that forest where we first got together. I'm sure if we tried hard enough we could find the exact spot....." A shrug lifted her shoulders as she looked down on Dominic curiously.

So maybe Dominic was a little git sometimes, he knew she liked it. Even if she didn't quite know per say, he knew. Just like right now, he could tell that she had caught on to his baited hook and was going to retaliate with a wickedness all her own. That maleficent twinkle began to glow in her glaring blue eyes, but by then, it had gone. A distraction yelped up at them and Dominic couldn't be sure if he was grateful for that or not. He could almost hear her rolling her eyes and sighing, but the sigh was all he actually heard. His neck was craned as far as it could to one edge to catch a glimpse at the little brown nose that bobbed up and down. βPfffffft,β he smirked. Her threat was anything but. βOkay. Sweet, bloody hells, saves me the trouble and the tears.β He grinned cheekily. He knew it wasn't the answer she had wanted, but seriously, could she have expected anything else? He chuckled heartily as she leaned over and hoisted the little pup onto his chest. He hardly noticed the wet dabs of spit pooling on his chest.
She flicked his nose, he wriggled it around to ease the weird feeling that was always left behind on the tip of his nose, like it was still being flicked back and forth by some invisible poltergeist. He rubbed his nose with the flat palm of his hand and stuck his tongue out at her. βAh well, if anyone was going to be spoiled in this house, it was going to be you. But I dunno, mate, Smores might give you a run for your galleons.β He mused, scratched the hounds belly and smiled contentedly until she became distracted by Gracie, and pawed upwards at her chest.
He reclined back to his prior position with both arms crossed behind his head and quirked a brow at her. βOh yeah? Looks like she'll have to get in line,β he commented offhandedly. Blue eyes softened at the sight of both of his favorite girls together. βHm?β He wondered quietly, but curious. For a moment, he seemed indifferent, then contemplative as he thought aloud to himself. βWe could.β He nodded approvingly. βWe could also do somethin' completely crazy extravagant there, too, if we wanted.β He teased the idea around. βOr simple.β He supposed. βI do love picnics....β His stomach began to rumble. Damn, now he's hungry.

Grace rolled her eyes and flicked his nose again when he used her own, albeit very weak, threat against her. He was an obnoxious little git and if she didn't love him she probably would have killed him by now. Figuratively of course. Another roll of her eyes was all the comment she had to him even thinking about spoiling the puppy more than her. He knew damn well she'd never let him spoil anyone or anything more than her. She had spent most of her life being spoiled rotten and she of course had found the one guy who'd be more than willing to spoil her just as much if not more so than her parents had. Fate was either very cruel to Dominic or very very sweet to her. A smile twitched at her lips at the thought and fingers scratched behind Smores' ears gently as she looked down at Dom with the stupidest grin on her face. As much of a git as he was and as annoying as he could be, she loved every part of him more than she ever thought she'd be capable of.
A sigh of relief swished from her lips when he nodded his approval of her idea. βA night time picnic in a creepy dark forest.... sounds perfect.β She said, giggling. At the rumble of his stomach, she rolled her eyes, raising an eyebrow at him as she did so. βAll you have to do is think of food and you're hungry.β She teased him, shaking her head lightly. Sometimes she swore he only loved her because she fed him.
Pale hands deftly lifted the puppy up and put her gently back on the ground, before she leaned down to kiss the tip of Dom's nose gently. βDo you want me to make you something to eat?β She asked curiously. Her fingers slid against his chest, and with one last wiggle of her hips and a coy smirk, she was off of him and standing up. A few seconds later, she was lifting Smores up once again, before the puppy could destroy any more of their furniture, magic or not, she didn't want to continuously fix their furniture because of the adorable little monster.

βOh!β Dominic exclaimed, for at least the tenth time that day. βI have a puppy too, I guess she's not much of a puppy anymore, her name's Smores, anyway. She can't wait to meet you.β If the dog could be expected to wait for anything, that is, the hound wasn't much for patience, and apparently, Dominic wasn't much for obedience training, either. At least the dog was finally house broken, and understood the βsitβ and βNO WHAT ARE YOU DOINGβ command, the latter of which, usually resulted in a shameful crouch, big puppy dog eyes, and flattened ears followed by a bit of whimpering if she was in the mood to really guilt him.
The taxi ride home had been short, at least in comparison to the train ride it took to reach the London borough he now called home. The sun had begun it's descent behind the rows of townhouses, rays of gold filtered through clouds and a flock of birds soared overhead. Throughout the ride, he had explained every possible little mundane detail, from the floor plan of the apartment, to the construction of an extra bedroom (in which he was sure to mention she would have every say in it's decor,) to the mention of his girlfriend and her unique sleeping schedule. βThis is the building,β he smiled and gestured with a sweeping hand. βRemember Damien and Marina, I told you about them a few times, they live in the flat across from us, maybe we'll go see them tomorrow? They have a few fairy friends too, I'm sure Kelly would like them.β He nodded encouragingly and led her up the few steps, unlocked the main door, and climbed the few flight of stairs up to their home. He had, more than once, wondered how Eve would take to living under the same roof as a vampire, and out of extra precautions, had goaded Grace into moving her blood packets somewhere a bit more secure than the fridge. He hadn't yet had much of a chance to discuss the real meaning of the fairies (or the house elves, in the case of Damien and Marina's flat) or the magical gene she'd inherited, or anything from the magical world, really. It all seemed like too much. But he would have too, once they got inside. The windows were sealed closed during the days, and he'd have to explain that, wouldn't he?
How horrible would it be for Eve to open up a window in their bedroom, because it was dark and she got scared, andβDominic shook his head. Now wasn't the time to wonder 'what if,' anyway. βC'mon, I'm sure Gracie's dying to meet you.β He laughed at his own little pun before sliding his key in the door and swiveled it open wide for Eve to cross through first.
