Seeking cover, or a way to at minimum, shield the kids from thunder and being well, targets for the wacky weather's whims, she debated how fast she could dig.
As the rain got worse, she realize that it would only be worse. She couldn't dig for s**t.

Digging was out, not an option. Maybe they might find a tree? Or right now trees, this was a desert. It didn't matter that much, as the rain stopped before it took a turn for the worst it could be.
