You are sickened by the weakness... Of a heart that's filled with fear.
And if the world won't understand you... You can make it disappear.
Cuz there's a dark secret... You carry with you. You carry with you.

God does not exist. Simples. The idea of an afterlife was created in order to persuade people that their life wasn't going to just end with death, that if they'd been good little boys and girls, they'd get their just reward. Also, that if anyone had been bad and escaped justice in life, they'd get their just desserts in death. Sadly, that doesn't happen. We're born, we live, we die and worms eat our corpses.

I'm a Satanist. No, that's got nothing to do with devil worship. I lean towards Anton LaVeyan Satanism, where the idea is that neither God or the devil exist and that life is for living. Therefore, if I do some good in life, it means far more than it does if a believer does, for I am choosing to do good rather than following a moral code written centuries ago.

This is an interesting question. biggrin

Well God exists for me, He is the center of everything, people only believe God in their own different ways.
How I came to believe in God is somehow what other people think as absurd, I was convinced by my teacher, and she told me things about who the God in Christianity is (I was 8 yrs old then) and I still believe in my God in each and everyday of my life.

Topic: Do you think a god exists, and if you do explain everything you feel like explaining about why you believe he,she,it exists and how do you think you became to think that way about the god.

Hmm... this isn't the easiest question to answer for me. I was raised by my mother who believes in God and is christian and yet didn't really go to church. I wasn't very exposed to religion but my mother expected me to believe in "God". A lot of negative things happened in my life and I decided at a young age that there is no way "God" exists that would allow for such things to happen to me on purpose. I was taught that everything happens according to Gods plans and it made me really sad to think that he wanted those horrible things to happen. I denied Gods possibilities and when I thought about if he existed I came to the conclusion that if there was a God, then my existence was a mistake, a sin, and that I am to face horrible acts over and over again for no reason because I was never meant to be born.

Enough of the boring personal story. Now that I am older I've been rethinking things. The Universe is a very vast and unexplored place. There are many different galaxies, planets, stars, and most likely beings out there. Whose to say there isn't some omnipotent existence out there among the stars. Or what if we were indeed created by some powerful beings, but they weren't human, they were aliens. They were much further along in evolution and planted the seeds of our life to grow on this hunk of earth. They monitor us and watch from above, intervening as needed or teaching us things that are beyond our own reasoning. Also, how did the Universe come to exist (yeah yeah the Big Bang but what about before that? Why did it ever happen to begin with? Why? Why...and how can humans think that they know enough to even be able to explain anything? We used to believe the earth was flat for crying out loud, as if we have any right to think we understand the universe and its workings in the least. We're probably quite wrong in many of our supposed areas of understanding, just like the earth being flat...) It's amazing to think of all the possibilities.

As I thought more I ended up thinking about Greek Gods. These beings like Zeus, Poseidon, Eros, Thanatos, ect. These stories have to be based off of something right? The world, the universe is too unexplained to deny anything.

One of the biggest questions I have that directly links to God is : How do we live?
It might sound like a silly question at first, but think a little further. How do we live? We eat food for energy to move and function right? Our blood circulates and pumps throughout our bodies. We send electric signals from our brains to the rest of our body. It has all been made into a science. But that isn't what I'm asking about.

I'm asking how the hell are we able to be alive? What causes us to animate? To think, to feel emotion, to be intelligent? If we were to take body parts and put them all together seamlessly, get a perfectly good brain, fill the body with the right amount of blood, and use a machine to pump the blood through the body like the heart and blood vessels, would that cause the body to come alive? Like Frankenstein right? Yet I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way..even if we were to recreate a perfect body and be able to make the blood flow and add electric currents to the brain....that body wouldnt be alive. If it opened it's eyes and the arms even moved, it wouldn't be a mentally/emotionally functioning human. It would have no thought. It would have no personality or quality of life. There is something in us that we are born with that we lose when we die that cannot be recreated and that just makes me think that it's a soul. Without a soul, no matter how good the body is, it won't be alive. Our soul helps shape our personality into someone unique and unreplicable.

So .. it just makes me ponder the meaning behind life itself and how it was originally created. Which leads me to believing in a higher power, a God, that could make it possible. It isn't a religious belief, but more like a curious hope that there is always much more to this world than what is currently the norm. I am not Christian or any other religion. Maybe there is just more to humans than what we know.

I kinda got off topic... You can just go off on so many tangents with this topic. Ok so...I think there is a higher power..but I don't know exactly what to think about it just yet. I would love to talk more about the possibilities. I love to think about these sort of things.

I do believe a "God" exists. Be it Buddha, Bathala, The Holy Trinity, etc. Because in a world where everything is almost seemingly random and of pure dumb "luck", how could there not be a "God"? Now I'm not a religious person by any means but i know despite all the sh*t happening in the world, It doesn't mean that there isn't someone looking out for us. I don't believe much in Karma or Fate because needless to say, a lot of bad stuff happens to people who don't even deserve it (like people being born with congenital fatal diseases or deformities). Those are the types of situations that really make me think, in my opinion, if there really is a "God". For me, I'd rather die believing in God because if I find out in the end that there isn't one then at least my life has meant something because i did good to the people around me. But what if you didn't believe in God and at the next life you find out there really is one?...

Truthfully, my logic pertaining to God since I was 8-9 years old was that...

If everything came from a big bang...or came from the formation or destruction of particles and from chemical reactions, then...where did the particles come from in the first place. How id everything appear? If there was nothingness, then, where did even THAT nothingness come from...If there was truly nothing, then how could anything have started a reaction...How did the first atomic structure..or particle come to be?...from that nothingness? Then, shouldn't there have been something that served as a catalyst to the whole creation? Can we call that catalyst God?

And then, in the topic of nothingness...How can nothingness have existed if we define nothing as a lack of something? Then, does this not mean that there really wasn't a nothing?
I mean, to have something stem from nothingness, a catalyst must have been there with that nothingness...moving further, even that nothingness must have been formed through something.

IDK. Im sorry. It's been years since I've ever thought of explaining my opinions to anyone, considering that nobody really likes listening to them...since they "dont make sense"
I've been pretty happy, entering college though...A lot of books and "great minds" have also thought like I did...didnt feel so alone...why Im sharing this?...dont know...just wanted to 4laugh
I have more opinions though, just sharing my 8 year old self's pride...my thoughts on God and creation.

This topic is so easy to talk about. I believe God those exist. why because god is everything but ONE =thing all at the same time. why cause he is not a she neither a him but the one that decided that there will be he,she, or them. Thinking it to the extreme of wondering, gods parent were time and space in the creation of him everything has a chance to be created. but that means that god can either make or break himself or other things that made. but theres alot of rules to different spaces and god is the rule. but hes also the cheatcodes. i could go on but nobodys gonna read this anyways.

To be put very simply, no.
I do not think there is any type of god. I just basically think that religion and such things pertaining to Gods and religions was done only to make some type of structure to a virtually structureless society.
Without such boundaries, I do believe that society could be even worse off then it was before.
Though I also believe that with the Gods and religions some pretty ******** up things have indeed happened.
So to me, either way we're screwed in a way.
I do believe, however, that we either evolved from lower species and such. or there is some type of higher being out there who made us. No not a god, per say, but something with enough intellect to form a new species.
Though if that is the case, we're all probably created for said beings entertainment and leisure.

Then again, this is just my lowly opinion. ^-^

I believe that God is the extent of the human condition. To explain, I will state the Wikipedia's definition of the human condition:

Human Condition:

It can be described as the unalterable part of humanity that is inherent and innate to human beings and not dependent on factors such as gender, race, culture, or class. It includes concerns such as the meaning of life, the search for gratification, the sense of curiosity, the inevitability of isolation, or awareness regarding the inescapability of death.

My take on this is that "God" or "the creation of God" is the manifestation of the human condition. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, to fulfill self-actualization, the realization of one's potential, one must fulfill their lesser needs ( [lowest] Physiological needs, Safety needs, Love and belonging, Esteem, Self-actualization [highest]). This leads me to believe that the search for this self-actualization is a key part of the human condition and because self-actualization requires so much effort and time the possibility of one person achieving fully in their life time may very well be minuscule. God, in its entirety, provides a promise of satisfying followers' lesser needs and aiding them in their search of self-actualization. God, a manifestation of the human condition, or even religion is one of humanity's processes of asserting what makes them--human.

I do not believe that god exist because where would he be then? And how the heck did he have the time to learn every single language on earth? That is why I do not believe on god because the stories sounds like a good bar story, but not a thing you can suddenly believe on.

I personally don't believe in god. I grew up in an environment that is mostly atheist but I do have families who believe in all different sorts of things. My grandparents do believe somewhat in God - they used to go to christian church when i was little... then they stopped I think. They were never baptized. My aunts - as far as I know, don't believe in anything. My mom doesn't believe in god(s) but she does believe in supernatural beings - mostly for her peace of mind whenever something happens. My dad loves buddhism philosophy but I wouldn't go far to say that he is bouddhist.
As for me, I am torn between wanting to believe that some higher being is looking over us and not believing... I guess I'm scared about religions - even though I know there are extremists everywhere, regardless of religions, but in my mind, I wish there is no religions at all, and that religion cannot be used as an excuse.

But I digress. My point is, I don't think that there is a God because my logic tells me there is none... that even though I wish i can believe in miracles, but the fact is that I am always so weary of religions that I don't believe they are true. In a way, I like the theory behind Buddhism better (and when I say Buddhism, I don't think of Lamaism. -- which is not the same thing. Lamaism is a branch that is different than the vast majority of buddhism branches in East Asian), where karma is what drives good and bad.

I believe a being of energy exists. Im bad at explaining but my idea on energy is science based: Energy is emitted by your neutrons, protons, all that good stuff that creates matter. I used to NOT believe you could manipulate your won energy. Then I saw a friend use an EMF (electro magnetic field detector, also detects "energy" some believe) and make it go as high as it could and hold it for so long. So many times that we KNEW it was her and not the area/anything around her. ANYWAYS.
I now believe in energy.
I do not believe this being of energy has a name, or a set emotion. Or a face or image. But I do think it is the collection of energy from bodies that are dead, and have not lingered somewhere. Obviously your energy may linger, creating spirits, intelligent or not. And obviously your energy can be recycled- Reincarnation.
But when it all finds it place, it goes into this being. Then your brain still wired to the bit of energy experiences "heaven" and "hell".
Thats about it with me. Energy explains all, especially able to manipulate energy. c:

I do not believe in God; his existence has been disproved by Science. But in the concentration camp, I learned to believe in men.

I don't believe God exists, at least, not in the way everybody seems to think there is. Right now, the concept of "God" is too convoluted and shaped to the individuals perception for me to think this single entity was suppose to have created us all. There's too much flawed reasoning from flawed people from a seemingly flawless entity. If God exists, it is in a way humans have not yet and may never perceive. Like a shape we don't know exists, let alone have a name for. There are more forces out there and right here that we just haven't discovered yet, or don't understand. The concept of God is too black and white of a concept, and its need to change in order to suit the time and the need for individuals (admittedly sometimes for money, a lot of times for war), I just don't believe in God.

I believe God exists, though I can't say I have full faith on Him (I blame the practices of the religions o.o)
People say everything happens for a reason, but how can they explain a miracle that seemed really impossible, and it doesnt sound like it has a reason.
For instance, I've watched a segment about a guy who already gave up, he tried jumping off a building, but then, while he was falling down, he felt like he was falling down slowly, like someone floating is carrying him down, then he realized he still wants to live, so he managed to grab onto a ledge and survive.
Another one would be this guy got shot by a shotgun three times, yet he felt someone invisible carry him and shove him so that the police, who is coincidentally patrolling the area, can see him.
I believe that things that's impossible to live through but still manage to live are the miracles of God.
Furthermore, what about the instances wherein you are feeling really down and stressful, and then suddenly it'll suddenly lessen for no reason or it'll be gone. But the amount of work is still the same.
Additionally, isn't it that there are also times wherein people will hear these whispers telling them "no" to something they're about to do or go, and when they followed it, something tragic shouldve happen to them.
I believe those are miracles, and they are the works of God. =)

I believe in God for many reasons. For one, what explanation is there for how people have different personalities and thought-processes? Sure, there's the whole left-brain, right-brain stuff, but what determines which person is what? We are all unique beings because there is something more to us than just the science part of it, we have morals and a thirst to do and know more. If you believe in the big bang theory, then what other explanation is there for nothing (or close to it) turning into a whole lot of something, other than that there is some unknown being who created it all, and was able to make it so complex that science actually proves God's existence? This unknown force does not necessarily have to be something that is completely present and everything that religions say, but just that everything was created and is so intricate that nothing needs to be done. There is a lot more that can be said, however I think I'll leave it there.
