"Why, I didn't think you would. It proves I am the better tree." But you are not a tree at all!
The argument with the next tree lasted several moments that stretched endlessly outwards until attemptedmurder finally had to admit that he had little idea of the answer to the riddle. It was only after the tree was done laughing at his incompetence that he slouched away feeling as dejected as ever. OOC

It was his fourth tree now. One more after this and he'd be done. Shadowstep came upon what appeared to be a willow tree. He attempted to get closer, through the thick boughs of leaves drooping down around it. However, he found himself being batted away by these very vines. When she had tucked her head down to go to sleep this had not been what Pipelle had been expected. That being said, she was never one to let a new experience go to waste. The newly reinvented Ch33p-Ch33p wandered through the woods, happily investigating her new surroundings until she came across the sign post.
“Oh, um, yes. Okay, thank you Wayfinder!” Ch33p grinned at the sign, not the least bit put off by it’s lack of face or the absurdity of it’s request. After a little more looking around, she finally noticed something of interest: there was a signpost just a few feet away from where she stood, and--was that an exclamation above it? Upon wandering closer, Nightbloom realized that it also possessed a mouth and was actually speaking to some of the others who had wandered close. To be fair, this wasn't exactly entirely unusual considering where she was from--it wasn't rare to find books with sharp teeth and other such things--but a talking one was certainly a little rarer.
Shaking her head, Nightbloom moved closer herself to listen to what it had to say, figuring that if she wanted to find her way out of this place, she would have to figure out how to proceed from here. The instructions seemed easy enough--wander around, examine some trees. This she could do.
She approached the tree closest to her first, a tall, slender one that seemed rather unimposing up until the point it suddenly greeted her. Faltering in surprise, Nightbloom's eyes widened for a moment before she promptly cleared her throat and returned the hello with one of her own. Before she could say anything more, she was suddenly met with a question--one that had her frowning in confusion.
After thinking it over for a moment, she slowly shook her head. "Ah, um. Well, you say that Nilly is taller than Dilly, but shorter than you...which must mean that Dilly is also shorter than you. But then you go on to say that Dilly is taller than you?" Puzzled? Just a little.
The tree didn't seem particularly pleased with her confusion either, considering its dismissive response. Okay, she would add the trees as tentative sparring partners to the list of facts. Maybe she should try the Willow again? Except, SCIENCE had no idea how to get back to it. One tree seemed to want to be helpful, as it had a number of signs posted on its branches. The little Hatter peered off in the direction each sign pointed, but didn't see anything terribly interesting down any path. "Thank you, anyway!" she said, adding 'Sometimes helpful.' to the list. It gives you a fragment and insists on giving you a hug, but the hug is very prickly and not very nice at all. +1 Fragment.
attemptedmurder didn't know which was worse: that the tree had lost its glasses again, or that he'd gotten right back to him and was apaprently lost (again). OOC

One more tree. Oh. It was the broken tree that sobbed for its lost glasses again. Shadowstep placed a hand to his forehead. Fine. He would look for them one more time. Just another quick gander. For one reason or another, he found his irritation building up. With a sort of grimace, he turned and looked around while the tree sobbed away. [Entering] Well this was certainly interesting. Aiden looked around at the forest in curiosity for a moment, sure that this was a dream, then blinked in surprise when the Alice AI showed up. "Hello?" He prompted only to get asked for his username. A username huh? A grin spread across his face when a thought came to him. "Username Byakko!" He said cheerfully then watched as the chosen username showed up above his head along with showing his level as being one. Well that was easy. The AI went on to tell him the rules and mechanics of the world, including mentioning a battle system but also saying it would explain more after he chose a class. The AI then explained the different classes and the advantages and disadvantages they get from the start then prompted him to chose one. The newly named Byakko tilted his head in mock thought then smirked. "Class, Cheshire." Really there was no other class he would have chosen, not with his chosen username anyway. He was only vaguely surprised when his shadow clothes turned into clothes of white and yellow, as well as he suddenly got white and gray cat features. After the AI acknowledged his class it went on to explain the battle system in detail as well as give him a deck of nine cards. Byakko flipped through them quickly, memorizing them then putting them into a subpocket. The AI faded away after that and he looked around the forest again. Nightwing...as that was his username, headed down a path and looked around. It wasn't tell he felt the brush of willow that he noticed he was in it's reach..and by reach...it totally just made it rain leaves all down and b***h slapping him back. Well okay then.
"I did not wish to come closer anyways." he muttered, wings furling a bit.

And once more, there was nothing to be found. Shadowstep heard a soft ding as his quest was now complete. He glowed a bit and felt a little bit of power surging into him. Oh, was that a level up? Not only that, he found himself with something new. With a raised brow, he looked it over some, then shook his head. Rewards or not, that was a bit of a waste of time. He let out a heavy sigh, then looked around, watching the other players stare at trees. A tree with stripes wasn't the weirdest thing NotAllan had ever seen, considering NotAllan had seen mermaids with three tits. Yet the tree still got uppity with her about being not silly.
It then commanded her to shake it, and NotAllan saw no reason not to. After all, it was just a game. The worst that could happen is she might die and then respawn not ten feet from where she began, losing nothing at all. Easy peasy.
"Like this?" she called out, grabbing the tree by its trunk and shaking vigorously. The tree giggled and then chortled, dropping a single fragment. NotAllan wasn't sure what it was for, but if there was one thing she knew from playing video games it was that you always always always grabbed loot. At the very least she could sell it for extra gold if it was useless.

They stared at the trees with a very obvious sense of confusion as they blinked reflexively at what had just happened. First there was a giant hole, and then there was a portal…and finally an alias. The poor thing had simply given out the first word combination they could think of and now they were stuck with the name “DEDfeesh”. Isn’t that just lovely? A silent sniffle was the last knowledgeable response to that whole situation before they stood up to observe their surroundings.
Where were they?
A very normal question to ask in this situation, yet their attention was immediately snatched away by the strange sign with the exclamation mark on top of its head.
What?
DEDfeesh wandered over to peek at the sign, yet it started talking animatedly at them…A sign was talking, what is the world coming to? It has no mouth. They had wanted to ask more questions but the sign refused to stop talking until it has given its quest.

It also took them a while before they realize their wings were gone, only to be replaced with a pair of mouse ears and a mousy tail. THEIR PRECIOUS WINGS.
