Uquin ( gonna say that the burned woman from Pidge's post came into the tent)

Uquin smiled weakly towards Alek at the question, turning over in his mind what could be done to distract them, until Biroki came back. "Unless you know magic, we'll probably be the ones carrying people in or doing basic tasks while the healers are working. So we--"

Before Uquin could finish, the ground beneath him began to tremble - if he pressed himself, Uquin could almost hear weapons and battle cries even from this tent. After all they weren't too far away from the battle, now that he really thought about it. But if the battle was so close, it meant that should their side lose...

Uquin clenched his fists, turning to face the sacks of herbs and bandages, raking his eyes over them but feeling as if he couldn't see them. At any moment the enemy forces could sweep over the camp, should their side lose. Would they take prisoners? Would they take 'war wives' as his sister had once called it? He found himself turning his eyes to Mella, feeling a rush of forboding for the women he'd seen in the camp. The women here were strong, they were on the forefront of battle after all, but if their side lost - what hope could those remaining in camp have of repelling another attack?

Would they become prisoners, or was Oba even INTERESTED in taking prisoners? Clenching his eyes closed, Uquin found himself feeling dizzy with the prospects, a moment of embarassing cowardice that swept through him like a ghost, freezing his blood in his veins and breaking his skin into a cold sweat. He felt he may have crumbled to the ground, had the tent not opened - and, upon turning his head almost hopelessly towards it, saw Biroki again.

Somehow, having the sage near ended the tirade of hopelessness, at least for the moment. It reminded Uquin that they were at WAR and if he was going to break down he needed to do it somewhere where he wouldn't be in the way. Shaking the clamminess off, Uquin shook his head at the question. "I don't know magic yet, sir." But he could still wind bandages, apply salves, and offer at least some support to the injured.

Of course - when the wounded started flowing in, the wounds were more serious than that. The first one they saw was a man with a gouge in his leg, probably from a spear. Uquin was kneeling down, giving him some roots to chew as he washed the wound out when more activity entered the tent. Wrapping the leg up, Uquin sent the man on out (they needed the cots for more seriously wounded), then turned towards the woman who was being lay down.

This was... burns. Obviously someone with magic had let loose on the field, and this poor woman - but for the moment he couldn't think about what must have happened out on the battlefield.

The woman was out cold - but by placing his fingertips above her mouth he felt stutters of air. The nose injury was bad, but as long as she could breath through her mouth, the burns were the priority. So Uquin stood and went outside, wincing at the noises of people panicking, but instead running to the supply tent for water. The return to the tent was slower, impeded by the large jugs he'd grabbed, but once he returned he poured the water onto clean cloth and carefully pat the wounds with them, rinsing the rag whenever it became too bloody. The skin was hot to the touch, so he kept dabbing it with the water, trying to cool the skin as best he could, then dabbed it dry when the wounds seemed to be cooler.

The salve that they'd made was for wounds from blades - this woman needed something for the burns. Nothing was prepared yet, so Uquin instead moved to shift through the bags, looking for something he'd seen before... there! A jar of amber colored liquid.

Smoothing the liquid onto the wound, Uquin then loosely bound it as best he could with bandages. "Master Sage, this woman needs healing!"

Mommy had said to stay with her sister, and for both of them to stay with their father. But of course that didn't happen. The sisters were together, and than they just weren't. She could go back to her father but she wanted to find her sister first. Who knew what kind of trouble Ikkio was getting into.

However before that could happen she saw the other two sets of twins and rushed over with Loxodonta right behind her. "Hey have any of you seen my sister?" she asked curiously. She could hear screaming already, but she was trying to tune it out. As soon as she found her sister everything would be just fine. She knew it.

[Kaalnia and Dyakida -> Pahana -> Near Healing Tents]

"Hey, Yeah! I've been doing pretty good! I'm a Blade now, you know..." said Kaalnia, pulling away just enough to pose.

Dyakida flinched as the ground below began to shake. "Kaa.. Kaalnia?! Whats going on?!" she said, grabbing onto Kaalnia's arm. She could feel the vibrations of something mighty and terrible, and she could - all too easily - hear the screams and sharp sounds of breaking. They were far off, yes, but there were cries enough here, too.

Kaalnia looked at Dyakida. "No clue, I..." she was interrupted by the introduction of a burned body. "Damn..." she said, her face growing grim and perhaps a bit greener than usual. "Yeah, I saw." she looked around, then carefully disengaged Dyakida's hands. "Hey, sorry to run off like this, but I think they might need some extra hands and hey, I'm a big strong Alkidike, I can carry people." She took a deep breath, "'Kida, you stay close to the tents, got it? I'm not getting yelled at by Brie 'cause I lost you or something."

[Kaalnia -> Moving towards the edges of the camp to help carry people in]

[Dyakida -> Pahana -> Healing tents]

"Kalnia! Wait..." protested Dyakida, but her sister was already gone and, in the chaotic confusion of the movement, vibrations, and noise, Dyakida didn't know where she ahd gone. She was disoriented, and held out a questing hand. "Pahana?" she hoped she got the name right, "What's going on?" Charred... like a log...? Aisha's petals... Aisha's petals what had her sisters gotten into.

Peyla stared wide eyed around her. What a sight this was. The sprite couldn't understand it. She stood up on Dyakida's shoulder and climbed to the top of her head for a better look, but she couldn't see what was causing the noise and vibrations. She was so curious. She chimed in frustration, unable to satisfy her curiousity, because now that the annoying usurper was out of the way, she had a job to do. And she would do that job. Because she was a good sprite.

"Please. Tell me." she flinched as a man in the healing tent screamed in agony, a sound that drove deep into the core of her being and awoke memories that she really wanted to keep asleep. Her head ached at the sheer discord around her. "And... how I can possibly help."

[Biroki -> Attending to the Burn Victim/Being a leader]
Didn't know magic yet? Well, supposed Biroki, he hadn't either at that age - he'd just been randomly setting fires with his mind. there was no time to train the boy in magic basics, unfortunately, though Biroki would have done his best to try. He wasn't sure if the boy would have been able to concentrate anyway - he looked as shaken as Biroki felt... which meant that Biroki had to be confident for the two of them. Probably the all of them.

Being a leader was going to be hard.

They were all soon busy with the wounded. Biroki, for the most part, conserved his magic. He had a lot of it, sure, and it did ache to be used, but he had to be careful with it because it wanted to become heat and destruction, and he needed it to be warmth and healing. He mainly used it to boost the salves and clear any suspect wounds before sending the less injured out.

And then she came in. Biroki rushed over as Uquin called his attention to the woman. She was burned, horribly, badly burned. Biroki swallowed. A mage had done this with a fire spell, that much was certain. He could have done this, easily. He had done this. The screams of the thug back in Jahuar came back to haunt him, mixing in with the busy, despearte, din of the camp. He shuddered. "Right." He sent healing magic into her, holding back as much of his fire as he could, trying to weave the magic with the burn salve - how had he, a fire mage, forgotten to make burn salve? He wasn't sure if he could save her.

An Alkidike was hauled in, her antennae cut off and bleedin. He glanced over. She was still breathing, but her arm was held at a crooked angle, she was covered in burising, and her eyes looked dazed (though it was hard to tell with those eyes of hers) he turned to Uquin. "Go attend to her. I'll finish up here." he gestured to the Alkidike, Bind up her arm and check for c-concussion." He turned back to the burned woman and tried his best to heal the tissue, or at least heal it enough for her to survive the day. He shook his hands, closing hsi eyes for a moment. He couldn't spend too much time on her, sadly. Many others were coming in. "I'll be back." he whispered, standing u. It was a promise. She still needed more care, but for now, that salve had to work its natural magic for a while.

"Mella!" he called out, "Good work, But we need to make Burn salve!" he jogged over and pointed to the ingredients she would need to mix, "Here's how you do it." he said, showing her how. "Thank you." he said, leaving her to it. He was trusting her, but he knew he could. Besides, she seemed to be good at mixing things in the right proportions. Having given her some orders, he moved on to the next injured party, pointing out further patients to Alek and Betoto. He saw the burned woman out of the corner of his eye again, sleeping now on the cot, her wrapped chest rising and falling softly and reassuringly. He would get back to her and help her, but for now...

For now there was a war on.

[Ikkio -> working with Senja]

Ikkio had thought she would be bored. Every time she had had to help her Uncle Reshel out as punishment duty it had been so boring that she'd wanted to scream. Nothing ever happened there, and she'd been stuck doing boring things like sorting.

She wasn't bored here. Lots of things were happening - people were coming in with all sorts of injuries, and she could only imagine how they got some of them. The ground shook and great roaring came from the battlefield and she gave a little squeal of delight.

This was interesting! This was fun! Things were happening. She handed Senja a bandage. "Okay. This isn't that stupid." she admitted.

Senja post 9
Senja shook her head at the child's reaction to the wounded and situation. Ikkio apparently had it more together than she did when she was that young!
She swallowed as yet another bleeding and whimpering person was brought into the tent. She accepted the bandage from Ikkio with a thanks and moved to help drag the wounded Leaf man to an empty pallet.
"No... this is serious, not stupid. People getting hurt is never stupid nor is it fun." She said with a stern glare at the girl who looked to be a bit too happy to see the wounded. "Can you take a wet cloth and start cleaning off some of the blood and grime?" She asked as she began to do the same, "We don't want the wounds to get infected.. so we've got to clean them before bandaging." The healers had given Senja strict instructions on what to do and in what order. Her stomach objected to doing this, it was gross and ikky and... needed to be done.... So she swallowed and got to work, hoping that she wouldn't get anything worse than stab wounds.

Winta - Post One

Location: Outside & Inside of Weapons tent
With: No one

The battle had started somewhere not too far off. This was Winta's first encounter with war, at least this close to it anyways and she felt herself needing a moment to take it in. Since she had arrived the girl had stayed within the weapons tent doing minor repairs, handing out weapons and not allowing herself a moment to soak in what exactly was happening. There had been talks of war for quite some time now but now it was here. There was no more pretending war, something that would never come if they just prepared enough. Winta sat down and leaned against the tent as she allowed her eyes to close. There were probably a few people she knew on the front lines. She couldn't allow herself to think about what they were facing since she might be needed. Winta wasn't one to dwell on grief but at this moment her past and negative thoughts were catching up with her. The young woman opened her eyes and blinked back tears. She took in a couple deep breaths so she could steady herself. Once her emotions were in check she found herself gazing around the area to take in what was laid out before her. The healers were prepping themselves and their stations for the wounded that would pour in soon. Right now Winta felt like a helpless bystander. What could she do to help right now? Nothing except to wait and watch the chaos that would soon ensue.

Just when the woman was about to head back into the weapons tent to meaninglessly work on something when the camp exploded with the injured. There was nothing that could prepare her for the sight of them. Some were only grazed and some were. . . not so lucky. Winta bit her lip and closed her eyes. Don't think too much about it. They will okay. The healers had their job cut out for them and Winta had her own task to tend to. Winta opened her eyes and walked back into the tent, immediately picking up a piece of wood that she decided would become a bow. "Don't let all of that chaos in. Focus." Winta calmed herself as much as she could before she began to craft the new weapon.

Thank you for not giving her patients.

Mella post seven

Mella’s fingers were starting to go numb from all the mixing she had to do. She had accepted Biroki’s instructions without hesitation. She only hoped that she never had to apply the stuff herself. Taking a pinch of the herbs she needed to mix in next she realized that she was running low. Looking around she tried to spot someone who could run and get her more from where ever they might be stored. Doing so she turned her attention to the other things in the tent and the scent of burned flesh reached her nose.

Gagging she held the back of her hand to her mouth. Moving she started to riffle through nearby bags to check them for the herbs she needed. Thankfully she was lucky grabbing the herbs she noticed that they stained her hand a slight purplish color. She tried not to think about that too much while she went back to mixing the slave. She knew she would need more soon. She called out to anyone nearby. “Hey were are more of these?” She held a spring of the herb up.

The camp was now bustling with movement, more and more members of the battle being brought in to treat their wounds, some of the lesser injured were being treated only to grab new or repaired weapons and get back into the thick of it. Those who were too far injured were left laying on cots to recoup while they were being treated, some not making it long enough to be treated before they felt their life melt away.

Antiope finished treating her current body before she wiped the sweat from her head and took a look around. "Alright everyone, if some don't make it, as sad as that is, we need their bed as soon as possible. Move those that have passed to that clearing over there. Be respectful, but don't dally." She yelled out to the other tents, hoping her voice carried before grabbing for her next injured entering the tent.

[Just continue to treat those incoming. Reminder: you may only post once per NPC post..]

Chandra Post 9

Once the wounded started coming in Chandra found himself unable to look at the bodies. It wasn't that blood bothered him, or cuts or wounds. It was acknowledging who that person was. What if one of them was mama? or papa? Or anyone he knew? He wasn't sure if he could handle that right now, and he didn't want to cry in front of the other boys.

When a strange man approached them it was quickly apparant he knew the Samoset and Kennet, he let Aysun talk for them and was relieved to see their Gran coming to there side, her hand on his head made him feel somewhat more at ease but he still felt like things were only going to get worse.

As if on que a woman's voice screamed something about a burned body and he felt his resolve crumble away. His knee's shook and he wanted to cry. Why were they here? Why couldn't he have mama or papa comfort him? When the young girl rushed over to them inquiring if they had seen her sister he looked at her bewildered, sister? Where?

"N..no.." He managed trying to keep the tears in check.

Borra Post 6

Glancing at Gyuri the young man wondered if he would be helpful being the more chatty of the two. Still it was a plan and if it was Eira's plan it would probably be best not to say no. After all Eira liked to give out the orders and it seemed like a solid idea though he had to wonder why it was that she paired his sister up with her brother. It would do well for Sinny, he couldn't help but chuckle at the nickname that Eira had given his sister, to be with someone who was perhaps a little less Eira. He knew well how much Sin'qua disliked Eira, but she needed to make some friends even if she didn't like Eira.

Knowing that Eira could handle herself he didn't feel quite as anxious at her leaving and instead turned to Gyuri. "Well we should get ready, by the sounds of it people are already coming in wounded." Borra's tone took on a more serious note, though it was still light as if it was hard for Borra to be super serious.

Though he wasn't exactly sure what to do in situations like these, he never treated anything more serious than a 'boo boo' on children. Cuts and scraps he could handle, but gushing wounds? Burns? Nope. He would have no idea what to do with those.

Sin'qua Post 6

Agreeing to be Makani's eyes, though it seemed like something out of character for her, Sin'qua actually just wanted to be distracted from the annoyance which was Eira. Besides the fact she hoped to glean a little information on using magic by watching Makani work. As the sounds of battle erupted in the forest beyond Sin'qua listened to them with a rather concrete expression on her face. She only stiffened or reacted slightly when she felt Makani's hand on her arm. Glancing at him, a reproachful look on her face, she stopped herself from telling him off by just seeing the expression on his face.

It was a war, and not everyone could treat it as cold heartedly as she could. Sin'qua was able to lock her emotions behind a wall, so she could deal with them later. But no everyone could. So allowing Makani to hold onto her arm felt weird but it was perhaps the nicest thing she could do in this situation.

When he finally let go an apologized she just shrugged and then realized that he couldn't see that. "Don't worry about it." She managed as she saw bodies being brought in and for once wished she couldn't see like Manaki.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 19, 2014 11:16 am

Sathe (Post 13)

The man Sathe treated wasn't doing too hot. She checked his forehead and he was already starting to run a fever. Did people usually die from wounds like this? Was he a lost cause? She had never seen anything like it and couldn't even begin to drum up an answer. Should she leave him and let him be till his life is over?

She looked around at the group of people she was supposed to be leading. They were all dealing with their own minor injuries, people with bruises, concussions, small cuts and broken bones. This was major. She eyed one of the boys who seemed to be finishing up. Motioning for him to come meet her, she turned from the patient, even though he obviously couldn't hear since he was asleep, to speak to him. "Alright, we need to make a plan for this fast. He has a lot of... well... stuff going on in there." She rubbed her neck, trying to think. "Can you make a run and get me salves, bandages, and a sewing kit? We'll need to get this treated and closed or he's done for."

The guy took off to do her bidding and Sathe sat back and sighed. Wiping a hand on her forehead she could really start to feel the sticky heat of the day take hold. Alright. All she needed to do was do what she could until he got back. She had some salves with her already, and clean water, so she could at least try to clean the area.

I have an OC named Shenja and I keep wanting to type his name instead XD

[Ikkio -> Helping Senja]

Ikkio disagreed. Actually, she found it kind of fun! When she wasn't the one hurt. Injuries were sort of interesting to her, and the power to get someone hurt... that was fun to do! She liked doing it in ways that they didn't know was her, like tripping them, rather than punching them or anything... or that time with the ice tribesman and the radaku. THAT had been fun, and she'd gotten Zuzu out of it.

But she knew better than to say that to a grownup. Might get her in trouble. She did as she was told, getting a wet cloth, following Senja's lead. This part was interesting too. She did some cleaning, pausing to listen to the small shifter lady's announcement. She looked back at Senja.

"I don't get it. What does 'not make it' mean?" she asked the other shifter, handing over another bandage. It was an odd thing to say. What was 'making it' anyway?

I sometimes replace Senja with Sueno O.o Even though those 2 OC's are soo different XD

Senja Post 10

She paused at the leaders words, her brow furrowing. Were there people getting hurt at such a rate that they were running out of room? Was that typical of war or did it mean they were losing? She finished bandaging this guy and motioned for Ikkio to follow her to the net pallet with it's newly wounded warrior. This one had shards of earth in a few of the wounds; it would take a bit more work to clean the wound.
"Not make it?" She paused, how does one tell a kid abut death? Well, I'll be honest with her, better she learn the truth now than later right?
"It means they die. They leave this world and can't ever come back again. That's why war is so bad. Or fighting in general. It can kill people, and then you'll never see those who died again." She hoped Rastian was alright!

Mella post 8 Checking tents for additional supplies.

Mella didn’t get an answer from the passerby and understood that everyone was busy. She could hear the cries and horrors from all around her. The scent of burned flesh. Stepping back she tried digging through more herbs she found nothing of what she was looking for this time. Gagging she tasted her breakfast coming up and dashed to the front of the tent. No sooner had she gotten the flap up than her food came out. The taste was horrible and her throat burned. Her eyes watered as she gagged up air for a bit before she kicked dirt over the mess. Hopefully no one would step in it. Someone in a rush bumped her leaving the tent and she took a few steps in the clear air. She didn’t know where the herbs would be at and started to check tent after tent asking for supply if anyone was inside. She peeked in a tent quickly. “Where do the healer’s keep the extra supplies?”
