Seeing that the two Pegasus were now talking Shadow returned to forest. "Nonsense, I can always make more besides your actually... the first to be nice to me..." Shadow said looking away as he blushed. "Took me weeks to get that just right, plus three days to engrave the letters in it." He smiled looking at forest. "It sometimes helps to have the ability I have when working the forge though." He said as he began to dig his left hoof into the ground nervously.

Just then light fire came up. "Big brother has a crush on you." She repeated several times teasing shadow like the young foal she was. This of coarse made shadow blush even more. "Oh big brother can I have some bits please?" Lil light asked shadow as she looked up at him.

Asch looks at the pile of apples and sighs, "I suppose..." He mutters softly. He looks at the pegasus his cheeks still a fair pink, "Still hurt..." He rubs the bach of his head sheepishly. He sighs inwardly and tries to hide his face behind his forelock.

"Yes, those mirrors are my pride and joy," Mirror Shards answered the green pegasus proudly. "I'm flattered you noticed." While she was inspecting one, however, it seemed the lurker had come out of hiding enough for Globe Trotter to identify him. Shards frowned slightly at the sight of the pegasus that had made such a ruckus earlier, but as long as someone else was distracting him, the blue unicorn figured he was less likely to be trouble.

Politely turning away to allow the pegasus pair their privacy, Mirror Shards turned his attention to the gift that Applejack had so kindly allowed each guest to take. He had chosen something with a plain package, as fancy ribbons, bows, and a excess of hearts weren't exactly his thing. And wasn't it what was on the inside the counted? Untying the somewhat frayed string, he pulled away the paper to reveal a book. How ironic; and here he had just been reflecting on not judging the package by its 'cover'. Pleased with the present, Mirror leaned against the edge of his stall table and used his magic to carefully open said book. He smiled as it appeared to be a beautifully illustrated tome of the History of Equestria. Now that was something he wouldn't have minded adding to his otherwise somewhat dull library of spell books and glass-making techniques. He would have to thank the Apple Family later - perhaps with a gift of his own.

Gypsy Gold, meanwhile, was busy trying to keep from having a heart attack from the instant Globe Trotter spotted him and called him out. He froze in his tracks, unsure what to do and subtly studying his peripherals for a means of possible escape when her words finally sank in. She was...complimenting him? "Y-you liked it?" he stammered shyly, feeling the warmth of a blush spread across his cheeks once more. "I'm...really glad. Truly." He bowed low before her with a grateful smile. "I'm but a humble gypsy vagabond travelling alone. I'm afraid I can't take all the credit. When I was younger, I had the pleasure of accompanying a troupe of other gypsies in their journeys across Equestria. It is them I owe for almost everything I learned performance-wise," he explained. "I had to part ways with the caravan when things got rough, but I will always be grateful to them for all that they taught me."

Nervously rubbing one leg against the other, he glanced off to the side. "Pardon me, mi'lady...I've been babbling. Your breathtaking beauty has left me brainless. Where are my manners?" He made a majestic sweep of his deep purple cloak. "I am called Gypsy. Er...Gypsy Gold," he added, hesitating at whether or not to give her his full name. Someone else might have recognized it on the wanted posters. Still, he hadn't seen any such posters around Ponyville or Sweet Apple Acres, so perhaps he was in luck. At least for today. All the other ponies were too likely to be celebrating to be on the lookout for some petty thief. "May I...ask your name, mi'lady? If you would be so gracious as to bestow it upon this lowly pegasus."

"Maybe you should get your hearing checked, you old goat," Melon shot back. "You think you're so posh and smarter and better than the rest of us. I never asked about some stupid alchemy. I think you're making the mistake of thinking I care about that nonsense." He flexed his wings and flicked his tail. "And I never said anything about 'instant'. Carrots aren't known to 'instantly' grant you fantastic eyesight, so quit your yakking. I'd have no use for any poisons or potions or projects or whatever they are of yours."

He spat an apple seed at Cobalt's hooves. "Don't bother trying to explain. I already told you I don't care. You really must be deaf, on top of big-headed and condescending." Raising a brow, he said, "Now you're just making stuff up. I've never even heard of that stereotype before. I don't think anyone else here has, either. Have they?" Melon looked around at his fellow ponies for confirmation or dissent.

At the comment about having no Equestria having no emperor, however, the pegasus stared for a minute before laughing aloud. He began to laugh so loud and long, dropping his apple core and clutching at his sides, that his legs gave way and he feel to the ground. Repeatedly beating a hoof against the packed dirt with the force of his laughter, his body continued to shake as he gasped for air in order to speak.

"HAhahahaha!! You...you doofus," he panted, wiping a tear from his eye as he fought against his fit of giggles. "I never actually thought there was an emperor. I just used the term because you're going around actling like it. Sheesh, what kind of...dweeb are you to...HAHAHA!!...to miss a joke like that? I guess you would have preferred I call you 'princess' then, since we actually have those!" Sending himself into another convulsion of chortles and chuckles, Mel didn't seem like he'd be able to stop laughing anytime soon as he rolled on the ground and struggled to breathe. "What - what a - dork! Hahahaha!"

Frolic watched the pair of male ponies uncertainly, not sure whether or not to step in as she didn't know either of them and thought it might be rude to butt in on a conversation that didn't involve her. As a flicker of movement caught her eye, though, she noticed Meadow Mists leaving and called out to her. "Oh, Meadow! Er, um, Me'a!" she corrected herself quickly. "I really loved what you did with the flowers! I didn't get a chance to tell you that was some beautiful magic. Thank you so much!" Unlike the paranoid Gypsy, Frolic knew how to appreciate a well-done spell.

Looking up from his new book as he leafed through the pages, Mirror's ear swerved as he caught the sound of a yet a third pegasus approaching. Closing the tome, he carefully set it aside and turned his full attention to the new potential customer. "It is from our larger selections," he agreed with a nod. "Particularly important ponies, such as nobles and royalty, prefer mirrors of that size in order to regard their overall appearance before stepping into the public eye. It wouldn't do for Princess Celestia to have a bad hair day."

It was difficult to tell whether or not he was joking, as the unicorn seemed to be unused to smiling. At least a genuine, natural smile. "There are also ponies known for their incredible vanity who simply take great pleasure in admiring themselves. Flutters, for instance, are rumored to be unreasonably narcissistic." Mirror's gaze flitted briefly across the newcomer's flank and his brow furrowed as he tried to make sense of it. A cat...? Or was it a nine? How...intriguing. "You're perfectly fine," the unicorn answered, shaking his head at the pegasus' apology. "It's an understandable question. I find myself wondering the same thing often and I've been in this business since I was a foal."

"Make more?" Forest Frolic asked, her grass green eyes growing even larger. "You-you made this?!" Taking a step back, the Earth pony shook her head vigorously. "O-oh, no, I couldn't! Not when you put such hard work into it! And I'm sure a lot of other ponies are very nice if you give them a chance," she said, looking away and hiding her reddening face behind her curtain of fiery orange hair. "That's awfully sweet of you, though. U-um...you work in a forge?" she asked. "Wh-what sort of ability do you have?" Yes, a change of subject was best. Frolic tilted her head bashfully and tossed it as her mane feel into her eyes. Sometimes her long hair could be such a nuisance, but it was convenient for hiding behind.

When Light Fire came up, Frolic's embarrassment only deepened. Her face flushed even more and she tried to maintain her composure as she laughed anxiously. "O-oh! Who's this?" the mare asked. "You must be the adorable sister I just heard about! I'm Forest Frolic. Pleased to meet you both," she said, holding out a hoof to shake the young female unicorn's. She wasn't sure she had the guts at the moment to touch her brother's, and he seemed just about as flustered as she was.

Globe Trotter glanced away from the spotted pegasus for a moment as his reply was a long time in coming. He seemed to be a bit nervous for one reason or another. Maybe he was only confident when performing. She'd run across quite a few ponies in her travels that had that same sort of anti-limelight fright. Something else had caught her attention for the time being. Another pegasus had joined her by the mirrors and she gave him a friendly grin.

"Or maybe if you want to match your whole room," she teased. "You never know. There are those ponies out there!" Whether flutters or royalty or just a vain earth pony, there were lots that might enjoy a mirror of that size. She liked the decoration around the edges enough to consider purchasing it...if she had the bits and the time to enjoy it. She didn't really have a permanent address, but her parents home in Couldsdale was absolutely covered with curios and knickknacks that she'd acquired in her travels.

Turning back to the spotted pegasus, she was pleased to see that he decided to come out of the woods. She nodded at his words, the friendly smile still on her face. "Of course I liked it! Everyone did," she said, jerking her head back in the direction she'd come from. As she listened to his story she nodded eagerly, ears forward to pick up every little detail. Wow...so he'd been traveling as well!

"That's fantastic!" Trot said with a laugh. "Traveling gypsies...you must have been to some incredible places. And now, too!" As the male's demeanor changed, Trot tilted her head slightly. As he continued to speak, though, it was her turn to blush. Breathtaking beauty? She liked to think she wasn't too much of a Plain Jane, but she knew she was far from the most attractive pony out there. Her own brain became a bit fuzzy from the compliments and she had to really think about what she wanted to say.

"Oh, don't say that," she said, waving a hoof. "You're hardly lowly! I'm Globe Trotter," she said with a tiny smile. 'And it's very nice to meet you, Gypsy Gold. Would you prefer just Gypsy?" she added, having caught his hesitation on giving his full name.

Oh, Our Cookies: Jeez, Melon seems like an a** :u

Cobalt remained stiff and stern during Melon's laughing fit, but couldn't help but break a smile of his own from the most recent name he was called. "Sure, a dork" he began to reply, shifting to his left slightly, "But keep in mind there are entire cities of 'dorks.' In fact, one of the bigger dorks was just crowned as royalty not too long ago, and lives relatively nearby. She's one of my better colleagues, but I'm still teaching her the concept of how to glide, mainly through control of the element of air, creating a gust of sorts to propel her." During that sentence, the unicorn magically popped out the gemstone in his necklace, and simply crushed it then and there, releasing the negative energy that was stored inside before discarding the shards like they were trash. "And yes, I am learning how to fly, and I'm actually rather decent at it. If a Pegasus can perform magic, surely a unicorn can fly, hm?" Cobalt Lightning added, replacing the now destroyed gemstone of a new one of the same color, as clear as the one before.

Cuddlycuttlefish
Slight Edits. I would have though the word 'Glide' would have differentiated a lot from 'fly.'

Meadow noticed Asch's red cheeks, but she decided not to draw too much more attention to the poor embarrassed pegasus. It wasn't as bad as he thought, at least she thought so, but she wasn't going to draw so much attention to that. "Well I'm Meadow Mist, its nice to meet you."

She rose her gaze to Forest again. "You can call me meadow, too... I think someponies just find mea easier." she gave a small shrug, not minding one way or the other. "But thank you...! Its not hard when there's such beautiful flowers to work with. You really have a knack for picking them."

Meadow couldn't help but laugh, raising a hoof to stifle it a little-- but that little filly was just too cute! A giggle filtered into her next sentence "Hehe! Got your eye on something good?" she chimed down to Little Light.

Her own gift was a pretty simple box, and upon opening it she found inside there was a soft little pony with buttons for eyes and yarn for its tail and mane. "Well Forest, you found your special somepony and it looks like I found mine." She teased as she rose the toy with her magic.

Nine relaxed a little when the Unicorn made light of his mistake, and whether or not it was a joke he laughed at the comment. "Oh yeah, you're right..." he glanced back to the full length mirror, turning to the side a little so he could see his own hair. It seemed a bit messy, actually. "It must be hard to need to care about appearance that much..." he thought aloud absentmindedly. He was also relieved to hear the unicorn had thought the same thing.

He smiled to the pegasus that chimed in, "Oh yeah... I heard once you can use big mirrors to make your room look bigger." It was fascinating how many uses ponies could come up with for something you didn't have a second thought of.

Nine picked his head up when he overheard a voice, and music start to play. He gave a little flutter of his wings, shifting his weight between his hooves with a hint of excitement, ears perked. He turned rather quickly, in spite of himself, one wing standing on end smacking one of the smaller vanity mirrors from its place on the stand. He flinched as soon as he felt it, looking back in dismay as it fell to the ground with a terrible sound. "Oh no, oh gosh, I'm sorry." he muttered quickly, ears falling flat against his head. "I'm so sorry!" Oh man, he didn't have his saddle-pack on at all, he had no bits on him! "I can pay you back... I live in Canterlot. "

Shadow froze not thinking at all he couldn't even speak he felt so embarrassed he thought as he began to take a coin bag out of his bag and giving it to light. as he blushed he looked up and began to force himself to talk "well... to tell you my ability I ... I guess I have to tell you how ... how I got my cutie mark..." He said trailing off as he looked to the ground still blushing like crazy.

"Thank you big brother" Said light fire as she used magic to grab the bag. She then looked at forest and shook her hoof, then propped up on her hind legs and whispered into forest's ear. "Be nice to big brother, cause if I find out you teased him about his wings ill hunt you down." She said in a creepy tone as she returned to all fours she said in a cheery voice "okay." followed by a short giggle then she turned and walked away.

Turning shadow looked at light with a raised eye brow "Light what did you say to her!" And in response light said "nothing big brother." With out looking back.
Placing a hoof on his forehead he let out a sigh. "I'm sorry about my sister if she scares you, she seams to always be protective of me, I just don't know why..." He trailed off blushing still. "But please keep it, it would mean a lot to me if you did." Shadow smiled closing the cover on his bag. Just then music could be heard though shadow didn't pay much attention to it he began to smile nervously.

Gypsy smiled sheepishly as he followed the green pegasus' gaze to the blue one that had recently arrived. He chuckled lightly at her response, but offered no opinion of his own. The young stallion was content simply listening to the sound of her voice.

And suddenly her attention was on him again. Standing a little straighter and taller, his blush deepened yet again and scratched the back of his neck in further embarrassment. "Well, I don't know about everyone," he murmured bashfully. "But I'm pleased you did, at the very least."

"Oh, well...I suppose," he laughed light-heartedly at her comment about his travels. "I've never really felt...comfortable enough to stay in one place for too long. But I'm guessing you're pretty well-traveled yourself. You seem like the type to be able to enjoy all the new places and ponies you meet as opposed to just being restless like myself. I admire that."

"Globe Trotter," Gypsy repeated dreamily. "What a fantastic name. Oh, uh, please feel free to call me whatever you wish, mi'lady. Er, Globe Trotter. Lady Trotter. Or, uh - would you prefer Lady Globe?" His face was completely crimson. Maybe it was time to stop tripping over his own words and try something he was more confident with. "Um...do you dance?" he asked, gesturing with a wing to where the music was playing the loudest and other ponies were dancing in time with it. "That is...if not, I completely understand, but I thought, perhaps...I might ask if I could have this dance. With...you." As much as he wanted to go dive into the orchard and hide in the canopy, he forced himself to hold her gaze as he offered a timid, gentle smile.

"What in Celestia's name are you going on about?" Melon asked Cobalt as his laughter finally died down. He rolled himself up into a sitting position, still trying to catch his breath. "The only dork I know is you. No one else would have thought I was serious about calling you an emperor. If you're talking about Princess Twilight, I don't really care much for her either, but she's not a dork; just a cold-hearted bookworm. And again I see you're trying to work in more bragging about how you're better than somepony else. A princess, even, in this case." He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I'm not even going to bother reminding you I couldn't care less. Because I really couldn't."

The action of taking out his pendant and crushing it caught Melon Madness somewhat by surprise and he raised a brow. He kept his mouth shut about it, though, because he had a feeling he would have gotten way more information than he'd ever wanted to know if he'd asked why the deed had been done. Already he was regretting having started talking to this unicorn from Canterlot at all. Were they all like this? He hoped he never had to find out.

"Yeah, sure, whatever," he answered, turning his back on Cobalt. "And pigs can fly, too. I'm done wasting my time listening to you run your mouth about absolutely nothing. Have fun being an arrogant dork, princess." Kicking off, he took to the air. He didn't fly far - just to the table of gifts set out for anypony to take. But still, he was eager to get away from the other pony as soon as he possibly could. Perhaps whatvever was in one of those boxes could take his mind off the unicorn. "Hmm...which to pick..."

"I think your full name is a lot prettier," Frolic answered Meadow Mists. "But I think I know what you mean. And thank you! It's really not hard when there are so many growing wild outside of Ponyville, but picking flowers and berries is one of my favorite ways to prepare for festivals, celebrations, and parties. Maybe we can go together some time! You yourself seem like a pony who would have a pretty good talent for picking them, especially with your unicorn magic!"

"Oh, what an adorable gift! I wonder who made it," she remarked, admiring Meadow's present. She still had yet to go pick out and open one of her own. Maybe she could do that next. Meadow's next words to Forest caught her by surprise, though. "Wh-what? What special somepony?" she stammered innocently, giddy with giggles. "I-I'm not sure what you mean." Don't look at him, don't look at him, don'tlookathim!! Forest told herself furiously. You'll only make it worse!

Mirror Shard's lids fluttered uneasily as Nine began to move to the music. He watched the pegasus and opened his mouth to warn him, but he was too late. The unicorn cringed and his own ears fell back flat against his skull as the dreaded sound of breaking glass reached them.

It took a few minutes of silence for Mirror to process the entirety of the situation, to register the pegasus' words, to remind himself that it had been an accident, and to recompose himself - at least outwardly - for the most part. The result was a somewhat unsettling smile that had probably been meant to be assuring and comforting. But for a pony who wasn't used to expressing such feelings or even smiles in general, Mirror's expression was disconcertingly dark with frigid undertones of a thinly-veiled, seething anger.

"Not to worry," he said finally when he trusted himself to speak without having an outburst or erupting in rage. "Accidents happen. They're only objects, after all." Objects that took time from my life that I'll never get back. Objects that I put bits of my heart and soul into to forge. Priceless masterpieces of which no two are the same; works of art which you needlessly shattered with the carelessness of your impulses.

"Are you alright? It'd be far more grievous if you got cut or hurt. Ponies aren't replaceable." Which is why I wonder if I'd be doing the world a favor to rid it of you at this moment... That was the thing about Mirror Shards. He could be a pony of business, yes, but in his eyes, not even all the currency in Equestria could have been enough to absolve anypony for destroying one of his works.

Mirror's tight smile wavered as he spoke, but he managed to keep up appearances by consoling himself with a simple reminder. No one - no one - managed to break one of his pieces and get away scott-free. The magic he imbued in each of every one of his creations assured him of that. Whether big or small, magical or not, each of his wares has one spell in common.

"As far as payment, worry not. I wouldn't accept money for something as worthless to anypony now as any piece of trash. I just have to warn you about one thing," he continued, leaning over the front of his stall to indicate the sign there with a hoof. "You see...each of my pieces have a spell that, upon damage to it, is activated." His smile still present but having attained something of a sinister quality, he recited the words there without looking away once from the pegasus. "'Beware, glass-breakers...for you may get more than you bargained for.'"

"Oh! Well, I love stories," the Earth pony told Shadow, beaming at him. "I'd be happy to hear about how you got your cutie mark! If you felt like telling me, of course. I, um...wouldn't want to seem too nosy," she giggled. She sincerely hoped he didn't think less of her for her curiosity. Her other friends - including Gypsy - were often telling her she talked too much and asked too many questions and was just too curious for her own good.

Blinking as Light leaned over to whisper conspiratorially in her ear, Frolic couldn't help feeling slightly self-conscious about how conspicuous Light's 'sneaky' behavior must have looked like to surrounding ponies, including the unicorn's brother. At the mention of Shadow's wings, however, she looked over at them, not really having noticed them before. Come think of it, why did they appear to be made out of metal? Had he been teased in the past for them? Could he really fly with metal wings? The idea seemed absurd, but what did Forest know about flying? They seemed really pretty, in any case; just like the metal flower he had given her.

When asked about the filly, though, Forest laughed. "Why would she scare me?" she asked. "I think she's adorable. Especially because she seems to care about you a lot. I think she mentioned something about your wings, though. Do you get teased about them a lot?" Tilting her head, she circled the pegasus slwoly, regarding the metal wings. "They're really lovely. I don't know why you would be. Um...do they work? Were you born with them?" She tried to refrain from asking too many questions, as she didn't want to overwhelm him or make him feel conscious about them, but her mind was racing with questions.

"Well, okay. Thank you very much! I will treasure it always," she told the young stallion, happily tucking it through her hair behind one ear. "But I'm sorry...I don't think I caught either yours or your sisters' names." She smiled at the other pegasus as he came over to offer his thanks as well. Everyone was so friendly toward one another and getting along so well! Well...almost everyone, but what was life without a little conflict?

Globe Trotter bit her lip to keep from laughing as Gypsy Gold repeated her name. He looked positively woozy when he said it! The poor pegasus was stumbling over his words left and right, and while Trot usually wasn't the best in situations like this, it was Hearts and Hooves day. She could put on a charming smile and make Gypsy's day, at the very least, in return for the fabulous performance he'd put on before.

A little laugh did leave her lips as she shook her head, although she certainly wasn't laughing at the other pegasus. It was just the easiest way to express happiness. "If you're looking for a nickname, Trot will do just fine," she said, nearly jumping out of her skin the next moment as a loud shattering sound came from directly behind her. She turned quickly, blue eyes wide, in time to see a very apologetic pegasus and a surprisingly calm unicorn. Her eyes flicked between the two and the broken mirror, her heart still pounding in her chest. That had been rather close! And oh, the mirror was broken far beyond repair, looking like the cutie mark of the pony who had made it.

She ducked her head and turned to look at Gypsy again, her heart going out to both the vendor and the new pegasus on the scene, and gave him a slightly nervous grin. "Ha...dancing, yes. I could do that. Although I'm not the best," she warned him, looking over her shoulder once more at the two as they spoke. Hoo boy...probably best to leave them to sort out payment of some kind. Trot knew exactly what the poor pony who broke the mirror was going through, and although she felt badly, she was glad it hadn't been her to break it. That, and she was glad no one seemed to be hurt.

Trot took a few careful steps away from the broken mirror behind her and turned to walk in a wide circle around it as she headed over in the direction of the music. A large table with presents caught her eye, though, and her steps paused as other ponies opened a package to reveal their gifts. "Oh...let's go over there first," she said, distracted by the beautiful wrapping paper and the presentation of the gifts. "Little presents for everypony! How thoughtful of the Apples!"

Oh, Our Cookies: stupid tummy x.x

"There you go again, you seem to have the persistent habbit of not using ALL the words" Cobalt Lightning said towards Melon's direction as he took off. "And I'm on even grounds with Twi: The secrets she has learned from Celestia and Luna give her no more of an advantage than my heritage to Starswirl does." After that sentence, he walked away, confident with his last words.

As his attention turned elsewhere, Cobalt Lightning noticed the mirror-craftier from Canterlot had set up shop, and that one of his mirrors was already broken from one that was rather clumsy. He was about to check on the pegasus that caused the mirror to crash but was already a little to late, and the sinister smile from the craftier raised an eyebrow from the mage. "Come now, surely this one meant no harm. Here, lemme teach you something" Cobalt attempted to reassure as he acquired a pair of the shards before putting them together. "Mirrors are made of glass, glass is made from sand. Quite a bit of heat turns sand into a liquid, which hardens into glass. Activated Ley Energy, or simply called ale by the Major Magistrate Houses, gives off a lot of heat at the very center of it, the core if you will. A bit of extra ley in the right spot..." Cobalt paused there as his focus shifted to the shards, being magically held by opposite corners. A very short blink of light appeared along the fracture, and the orange unicorn released one of the corners to reveal the two shards had become one, though still retained the large crack in the middle. "Melts the glass long enough for it to merge. The crack could be filled easily that way, learned that trick from the bunch that did all the stained glass in the palace, and boy were the princesses touchy about those pieces."

Meadow gave a nod to Asch, saying she understood and to go ahead. She didn't mind at all. Her attention was more on Forest in any case, though she did hope she wasn't intruding too terribly much. Still, Meadow and Forest? What pony could resist talking to somepony with such a similar namesake! "I'd love to!" she gave a little tap of her hoof in subtle excitement. She wasn't one to raise her voice or get too excited outwardly, so even that small gesture meant quite a bit.

Meadow chuckled as Forest stammered and giggled, it was her exact intention after all! "Oh, you don't?" Now she was giggling! "Well I think I'm going to take my prince charming to the dance!" she announced proudly, setting the little floppy pony on her back. "Come find me when you want!" Carefully she trotted over to see what the dance was about, wanting to leave everyone to their own business... Of course she'd check over her shoulder on Forest now and then, any good mare knew to look out for her sisters at events, always alert for an unwanted gesture from any stallions. It was simply second nature.

Nine was quite certain his heart had shattered along with that mirror. His ears fell flat, his wings drooped, even his head bowed a little. Sorry wasn't enough, so he stopped saying it. A little chill ran up his spine as he got such an eerily calm tone. He wasn't the greatest pony-reader, but when an artist put that much soul into their work, breaking it was like spitting on them. This wasn't by any means the first situation like this that he'd been in. 'You'd think you'd learn by now.' He chided himself mentally, shifting his weight from hoof to hoof.

One ear lifted to hear that there was magic on that mirror, which only seemed to make his expression fall. "I just got rid of the last curse." he muttered softly, giving a heavy sigh. "Alright... well, can I still have this mirror? Broken or not, it's still great quality... You'll probably just throw it away right..." he gave a half smile... his house was filled with broken items as it was, many of them haphazardly glued together.

Another pony approached before he could even try to touch the mess he'd made, drawing a sideways glance of curiosity. He briefly wondered if it was another unicorn from the mirror shop the way he spoke. It reminded Nine of a sale's pitch. Briefly blinded by the flash of light he rubbed at his eye, begging it to return to normal vision. When the blurry shape solidified he smiled ear to ear. "Oh, hey!" he was impressed regardless, he rarely saw magic even when his home was in Canterlot, he just never paid attention. He stood up straight again, looking hopeful. "That's pretty neat!" he fed into Cobalts pride readily, oblivious to the idea that the unicorn might be showcasing some of his magical skill. The gullible little pegasus was just certain of the good nature of other ponies.

Though he knew he'd be cursed most likely, the magic was already released after all- that was what his limited understanding of magic told him. He was okay with that... 7 years bad luck, it wasn't the first time he'd walked under an enchanted ladder, and he had black cats crossing his path every day. Misfortune wasn't much of a bother when you knew it was coming. He was hopeful to see the lovely work of art restored! Though he certainly wasn't going to complain if he could save himself a few weeks worth of rainclouds following on his tail. Cats weren't too fond of being rescued in the rain.

Shadow smiled. "It was no trouble dude just try to slow down like 10 seconds before you land, trust me makes all the difference." Turning back to forest he smiled and then began to pull out a newspaper from his pack that was several years old, handing it to forest. "Do you remember the fire at the blacksmith several years ago?" He paused his ears were flat against his head as if he was ashamed of himself. "It sort a was my fault, you see that day I was helping my dad forge something, I didn't know at the time that he was forging these." He said as he flapped his wings, and strangle they moved like the real thing like they were not made of metal. "You see, I was born with out feathers on my wings, anyway I was playing around the forge when I knocked down the pole that held the air pump to the forge, it fell in and caught fire, rather quickly." He paused as he kind of relived the moment in his mind. "The fire spread fast and engulfed the house in seconds, I was to afraid so I hid in a corner of the house and closed my eyes and began to cry, it felt like hours." He said looking down (O.O.C. just like the picture in this post biggrin ). "Then I heard my dad call for me, so I opened my eyes and saw the fire all around me, but it didn't burn" he looked up. "It felt warm, but didn't hurt, its hard to explain, but as I calmed down so did the fire..." He then cleared his throat and continued. "I then laughed for no reason, it was funny that the fire didn't hurt, then I heard my father say something, I'm not sure what, but I the walked out and as I did the fire went out as well." He paused trying to figure out what to say next when the buckle that kept his wings on snapped for no reason and they fell off revealing his real wings, featherless.

He walks away before Shadow starts his story. The ebony Pegasus walks through the rest of the party trying to see if there was someone else to talk too... seemed everypony here was already talking about their more than exciting lives... He sighs and looks down, He sighs, "Maybe I was hopping for too much...."

The spotted pegasus smiled sheepishly when Trot laughed, happy to have at least been able to do that. While he usually attempted to make foals laugh with his entertainment, it was nice to know he could bring some joy to adults as well. At the sound of the crash, though, Gypsy yelped and launched about 30 feet into the air, his paranoia getting the better of him. When he discovered the source of the noise, though, he didn't seem any more inclined to calm down. He didn't like the way that glass-making unicorn was acting and his warning to the other pegasus sent shivers down his spine.

But Trot was talking to him again. It would have been rude to just leave her there, especially with those dangerous unicorns nearby. Quickly returning to solid ground, he hoped to encourage her to walk away from the mirror stall and and toward the dance floor instead. "I'm sure you're wonderful," he told her, trying not to glance over his shoulder as he lead the way. "I'm not as familiar with this kind of country dance myself, but it seems fairly easy to pick up. The dance step instructions sound like they're pretty much the lyrics to the songs. Even if I'm not sure what a do-si-do is..."

As they walked closer to the tables, however, he was amused by her reaction to the gifts. "Alright," he agreed, surprised that the Apples were so generous. "I think this is the first party I've been to where you get gifts from the host instead of give them." He hoped he could make it up to the Apple family some how. "Which box do you like best?"

The blue unicorn's small smile promptly disappeared when Cobalt showed up and opened his mouth. "You? Propose to teach a professional glass-maker something about glass?" What an arrogant little upstart! Of course he knew glass was made from sand. He'd known such a thing ever since he was an infant. His family wasn't in the glass-making business for no reason, after all. But how dare he. How dare he try to recreate what had once been and was no more?! He had no idea the magic and time that had gone into creating such a piece. It was not so easy to put back together - not like it once had been! The spells and such that had been infused with it had already been released.

"A few pieces of flimsy stained glass is not the same as the work I do, sir," Mirror Shards told Cobalt coldly. "You are fooling yourself if you believe such a piece can be returned to the way it was so easily. There are far more complicated matters that go into creating glass the way my family has been for years - secrets that have been passed down from generation to generation that you could not possibly know. Don't presume to lecture me on an art that takes at least a decade to master."

Clearly offended, the stallion used his own magic to snatch the shards from the ground and from Cobalt before placing them carefully in a box behind the stall table. He would deal with it later. At present, there were more pressing matters to attend to.

"'Last curse'?" he repeated, tilting his head as he stepped out from behind his stall to confront the pegasus. Perhaps he'd been a little too harsh on the fellow. Maybe. His rage was subsiding, in any case, and it was making it easier to think. "And what, pray tell, was that?" He considered the pegasus' request and eventually levitated the box out from behind his stall to offer to him.

"I don't throw away my works so lightly; even the broken and irreparable. My parents taught me how to make creations even from broken things - sometimes even better than the originals - which was how I obtained my cutie mark. But here...so long as you have some use for it and aren't simply wanting to purchase it to make up for your deed, it's yours."

The significance of their names hadn't escaped Forest either and she was positively delighted to hear Meadow accept. "Yay! It's settled, then!" she cried, giving a little prance of happiness. Blushing hard at Meadow's teasing, she smiled as the unicorn announced she was going to dance with her 'prince charming'. "Do you even know his name yet?" she called to her, laughing. "Take care and make sure you know him well enough before you follow him home!"

Turning her attention back to the purple pegasus, she eyed the newspaper he pulled out curiously. "Oh, uh...no..." She hadn't heard of any blacksmith or fire, but that was probably because she didn't come into town often. Most of the time she just lived in the Everfree Forest. The Earth pony listened as he spoke of the wings his father had been forging. She was distracted for a bit by the movement of his wings, but her eyes widened at the mention of the fire. Her lips parted slightly as he told the story, but when she was finished, her brows furrowed in puzzlement. "I'm not sure I understand, though," she said, tilting her head. "What exactly was your purpose or talent?"

When the buckle snapped, Forest squeaked in suprise and jumped back, not wanting to be hit as the metal wings fell off. She blinked at the pegasus' featherless wings, not having ever seen such a thing before except perhaps on plucked birds, but quickly looked away, knowing it would be rude to stare. "Oh, whoops! Um, here, let me help you put those back on." She reached for the metal frames, frowning at the snapped buckle. "The buckles must have not been very good quality. Maybe we can find some better ones in Ponyville."

If Asch continued looking down as he walked, he might not have noticed the green pegasus ahead of him before they collided. Melon, who had been occupied with picking a box at the table of presents, whirled around. "Hey! Watch where you're going," he told the black pegasus."What, your girlfriend broke up with you or something?"
