Hearing Cody talk about his uncle and his family made her think his family had died. She listened to him and it did make her curious. "Well it's nice to know you can run the store and you enjoy it. If you don't mind my asking what happened to your mom and dad? Also feel free to ask me anything." She didn't want to seem like she was just probing into his life. She wanted to give him a chance to learn about her however she assumed his questions would revolve around her family or her inherited business.

When Cody spoke of the accident she frowned. She listened to Cody and she spoke "that driver lot his license I suppose. Semi drivers had a log in the cab that registered how long they had been driving and it was supposed to make them stop and rest i thought." As Cody mentioned his family fortune and how his uncle had taken him in she smiled. It was rare to see compassion these days i a world full of greedy people these days. When he spoke about what his dad taught him she smiled and spoke "well i'm very glad you didn't let money motivate you. It's nice to know you won't starve but some times it gets beyond ridiculous. Is there anything you wish to ask me since I asked so many questions." Aslinn looked at him and smiled softly unsure of what he would ask her. She figured it'd be nice to give him a chance to learn about her and it'd also speak about his character depending on what he asked.

Hearing Cody ask about her family Aslinn sighed. She slid her work bag off her shoulders before she thought about the best place to begin. "Well my dad died about six months ago; due to an infection. He'd been on a hunting trip and wound up getting shot on accident in the arm. He had been given a botched blood transfusion. My mother Rose married my father at twenty; they'd known each other since childhood and. My mom and dad were twenty five when my sister was born. I came along five years later. My dad didn't have anything against the city; it was just we had a lot of family in my home town so we kinda stayed there and he bounced back and fourth. My mom is nice; loves to cook but can't stand business. She loves to create things but she cant stand how a whole business works." Aslinn seemed to have mentioned everything about her family short of her sister. She had mentioned that she had one but stopped it at that for a moment.

Aslinn figured that if Cody chose to ask about his sister that would be a whole other tangent. She didn't quite want to mention the attempt on her life but she needed time to think of some kind of excuse as for why she no longer dealt with her sister. She didn't want Cody to think it was simply a family spat that would work it's self out.

When Cody explained how he felt sorry for her loss she smiled a bit. "I appreciate the sympathy, However my father lived a good life." At the mention of sibling rivalries and her sister she frowned. Taking a deep breath she eventually spoke "My family is very old school. Tradition dictates that the family business is passed down to the eldest child. My sister is five years older than me, so the business should've been hers. My father had given us an incredible education with the best tutors he could. On my fathers death bed i spoke with him and he told me of this choice. He told me my sister assumed she was born with the silver spoon in her mouth and that i was easily more than twice as smart as her." She stopped for a moment and pushed her hair away from her face before she continued onward.

"After he died his will was read and my sister made a bitter fight. At some point the courts deemed my fathers will valid and her boyfriend got drunk and tried attacking me in order to get me to give up ownership. Afterwards my sister kinda left." After she said that she moved and slid off her shoes before tucking her feet up to her chest and curling her arms around it. She didn't like discussing her sister but she'd at least told him the easiest excuse that was semi truthful without letting him in on everything. "I never thought i'd get the family business so I don't know much about jewelry. I know about the business side; with sales, quotas, manufacturing; as well as mineral composition and how to tell quality; but I lack art skills and art theory. So designing stuff's gonna be my weak point. Most of my education would be enough to get my a job at any business as a high level manager." Once she finished saying that she managed to unfurl her legs smiling lightly at him.

When Cody walked over and touched her shoulder she stiffened knowing this gesture was one reserved for somber instances. When he said things would turn out fine she laughed a bit "that girl hasn't worked a day in her life... After the incident I told her i wasn't going to force her out but she called me a slew a bad names and stormed off." Aslinn had tried working things out with her sister after they kept on failing in combat but her sister sought alternative methods instead; on the day she was banished Keira had told Aslinn she's regret it. When Cody offered to help out at the store she looked truly confused for a moment as she thought it over. "Well I'm not going to be lacking my whole life... but help souds nice. If you want just make up a few sketches when you've got the free time and we can piece stuff together. Obviously you'll receive compensation for your help." Aslinn didn't want Cody to think she was going to be helpless or simply use him; she intended to work on her art skills, and so long as Cody was helping her he deserved something for the trouble.

Aslinn laughed when she realized how nervous the boy mustive gotten. She slowly waited until he finished rambling before she spoke. "No No i'm not upset or anything. I said what I did because I'm used to people assuming i'm like my sister; lazy and a mooch." Aslinn softly poked his arm before she spoke with a serious tone "I'm not above asking for help, i just don't like it; and i don't intend on being useless, if i was useless and did nothing to contribute to the shop i'd be letting my dad down." Once she spoke she gave him a thumbs up before she laughed at how dory she was sounding.
