Sherry winced in sympathy. She could see the sparks from where she stood, and there was no way that felt nice. "Careful." Trips to the infirmary were a bad thing.
"I think you're making it mad." It could have been her imagination, but it seemed to be sparking more or trashing a bit more. Hard to tell, really.

Well, he somewhat expected the titan to be pissed, that much was a given, but he wouldn't let it stop him. If anything, it meant that the titan was starting to get tired, which was a good thing. Perhaps it was time for him to kick it up a notch also.
Pulling out the hand torch, he lit up the daggers, and tucked the torch back in his belt.
"Don't worry, he'll be down soon!"

Sherry hoped so. Sluggish as these things got, they also got angry. And they'd still have to clear the area before the blast. The sooner the beast was down, the safer they'd by.
"I have complete faith you," she said into the headset. "Just remember to keep an eye on things."

That was true. One could never let their guard down until absolutely sure their opponent was down for the count, and he wasn't planning on doing so until they were a safe distance away. Cockiness had costed him before, and he wasn't about to repeat the same mistake.

"I'll worry if I want to," she replied. It wouldn't change the fact that she knew he'd be fine. Especially with how well this was all going. Unless he'd been lying to her about being fine, but they'd talked about that and he'd asked for help before. He'd learned that lesson, surely.
"Since if I didn't worry," she continued, "I might not notice the sparks going on behind your back. Keep an eye on those."

Jake chuckled softly. Telling Sherry not to worry was like telling him not to do anything reckless. And he learned his lesson about lying... hopefully.

Sherry chuckled, too. They were both stubborn in their own ways.
But Jake better have learned his lesson. If not, Sherry would notice sooner or later, most likely.
For now, though, he seemed fine. Fine and doing alright.

Yes mama Sherry, he learned his lesson now. If not, with the headset, he had no doubt she could yell at him if she wanted, and he really didn't feel like losing his hearing anytime soon.

It was, again, a good thing Sherry couldn't hear his thoughts. She might just have scolded him for thoughts like that. Or laughed. Either was possible.
"How are things looking from up there?" From her vantage, it was hard to see again. Darn living mountains.

Thank goodness his head was a safe haven. Or, at least until Chester was back. Part of him liked to think the nergal was always in his head, able to head his thoughts even if he could hear him back. Perhaps Chester even retained the memories he had lost, and could tell him more about Sherry when he got back. It was all wishful thinking at this point, but it was the only thing keeping him going.
He knew Sherry was doing her best trying to watch his back, but from her vantage point, there were still going to be some blind spots, and he winced as he got another shock.
"Don't worry, I'm still hanging in there!"
As if to prove his point, he plunged the daggers into what looked like a soft spot, and hearing the titan's roar, he knew he was right on the money.
"Ok, I think that did it! Time to get out of here!"

"Gotcha!" She almost didn't need Jake to tell her, the reaction of their target had been enough. Time to grab the gear and get out of the area, lest someone get hurt again. No one wanted that.
The anchor came free with ease, the runic gear giving Sherry no trouble. She was grateful for that, just like she always was. It saved so much time when the equipment cooperated.
The running was a tiny bit trickier, the pebbles and sand on the beach not always offering the best footing, but Sherry navigated it with nearly no trouble. Just one or two slight stumbles.
She let out a sigh and slowed down when she felt she was far enough.

Sherry was clear, which meant it was his turn.
Considering he hadn't had to resort to his runic to finish it off, and the fact that they had finished this titan off a lot faster than before, all thanks to the upgraded runic gear, it wasn't too hard to clear the blast radius himself, and before too long, he was on the ground, running towards Sherry as the last of the titan stumbled into the distance and disintegrated.

Much like every other time they'd done this, except that one time she'd been knocked out, Sherry's first action upon reaching what must be a safe distance was turning to make sure Jake had made it. He was running in her direction, nearly next to her, and Sherry decided to utterly ignore the dying titan as she tackled Jake.
It was a hug. A very forceful hug. Probably not her best idea, what with running and gear and such, but titan battles deserved hugs.

Perhaps a tackle hug was a much, and by the time he got to Sherry, he had the wind knocked out of him, nearly toppling over as Sherry nearly suffocated him.
All he managed was a cough and a weak pat on the back as he hoped she didn't rupture any of his internal organs.

Sherry took the cough and pat to be surprise over injury of any sort. After all, she could have bowled him over without looking.
"Good work," she said, squeezing him close. The next few heartbeats passed in silence, since Sherry was just busy hugging Jake, though she did shift their combined weight enough to make sure they didn't fall over.
"How are you feeling?" Only after the question left her lips did she let go, leaning back to look at him.
