Jake nodded, turning to face the spike, but before he could strike, the titan moved, making him stumble.
Thankfully, he was a safe enough distance that he didn't end up hitting on himself.

Sherry may have gasped as she watched Jake, worried he'd get hit, but she wasn't really paying attention to her own reactions. It was all about keeping an eye on everything but that.
"Careful! We got this beast! Just have to hang on a little longer!" That was all they really had to do.
"And afterwards we can... find something nice to do. Something less dangerous."

Sadly, given his distance, he hadn't quite heard the last part, and it was probably best she didn't know he was planning on fighting these until he dropped.

Sherry wasn't even phased by the lack of response. Jake was busy after all. She knew there would be time for talking later.
She did not know just how much he wanted to fight these things, and she might have been concerned if she did. She wouldn't have let him fight them alone, of course, but she would have been concerned. For now though, "Watch yourself! To the right!"

If anything, he should have been ashamed at the trouble he was getting Sherry into, as well as the potential danger. If he could have done this alone, he would have, but even then, he supposed Sherry would object.
With her around, it was almost ok that Chester wasn't. Almost...

Sherry was fairly certain there were far more dangerous things they could be getting into. There was always something more dangerous. Probably. They'd lived through two titans, surely they'd be fine with more.
She was certain they'd be fine. As long as she could keep up with her end of the job. Keeping Jake alive. So far so good.

There were far worse chores than watching Jake's back, of that she was certain. True, it wasn't always easy, but she figured she could deal with it.
"Right!" She paused to inhale and repeat. "Too the right!" Darn titan roars trying to cover up her yelling.

It wasn't like she didn't know Jake had a thing for running headlong into trouble. So, while she had to admit it could be tiresome, she would also argue that it was nice to never be bored. And to know she wasn't going to run into trouble alone, most of the time.
Like with this. It was nice to know she had a partner she could rely on for this titan hunting. Sure, there were other folks she could be helping to defend, but she knew how Jake worked, so it wasn't too difficult to run defense for him. Usually.

To put it bluntly, Jake attracted trouble wherever he went, whenever he wasn't looking for it himself, whether it be through artifact quests, missions, or even just training courses in general. Chester definitely had his hands full, so it wasn't much of a surprise that Sherry would too. And though she could definitely say that she couldn't be bored having to babysit him from getting himself nearly maimed or killed due to sheer stupidity, killing one's boredom in such a way was definitely questionable.
Thankfully, he had hopefully wised up a bit, if just a little, so if he were ever able to get Chester back, the nergal would be happy to know that it had not been for vain... hopefully.

Perhaps one should question Sherry's taste in activities, or even her choice of company. She certainly didn't. Her job was to assist, defend, and heal, and this let her do just that. Not that she was doing this just because it was her job. That was where her choice of company came in, even if she didn't question it. She'd run around with Jake if she wanted to. She saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. Rather enjoyed it, actually. Especially when they weren't actively dying. Like now. Sure, the titan was tough, and the moments were creeping by, but they seemed to have it under control. Her eyes ran up and down the tether again. Yep. Everything seemed alright for now. It was less taste and more companionship, at least concerning romantic relations. Jake was probably one of the worst people you'd want as a boyfriend, or at least anything more than a friend, though even that is possibly questionable. There also wasn't much of a specific quality that made him stand out more than others, unless it involved plain stubborness and recklessness.
Thankfully he was neither at the moment, and he'd much rather like not constantly dying and such. Even if somewhat abnormal, he was still human, and getting impaled and other terrible stuff was never pleasant. And so he decided to focus instead and concentrate on not dying and finishing this titan off so they could move on to another.

Sherry would argue that there were far worse people one could have as a boyfriend, or anything more than just friends for that matter. She’d had a couple of boyfriends, and a couple of almost boyfriends. Going around comparing people to one another wasn’t something she liked to do, but she could if she were asked to. As she watched Jake attacking the titan, she was aware of both his recklessness and his stubbornness, qualities that were endearing as they were frustrating (at times). She was also aware of a dozen other qualities that he had, some she liked and some that were less pleasing, but no one was perfect so that was ok. All of it together was Jake, and she had to admit she wouldn’t have picked up this extra titan patrol if it weren’t for him.
So she was doing her very best to make sure he didn’t get hurt up there. “Careful!”
Though, once she learned his plans for after this, she might just have to smack him herself. Or at least scowl.

Perhaps so, but come on, this was Jake. JAKE, the trainee who used to pick a fight with anyone and everyone, purposely try to grate on others nerves and had verbally and emotionally abused Sherry for a pretty stupid reason which no doubt backfired on him. But thankfully, that was a thing of the past (hopefully) and the only thing he should probably change was his current motivation to fight titans until he dropped, considering doing this was pretty much a moot point since they were never full destroyed and always came back in some shape or form later on.
But Sherry didn't need to know that for now, and he gave her a thumbs-up.
She could smack him around all she wanted after, considering he probably wouldn't have the energy to fight back.
