I LEAVE FOR 24 HOURS AND THIS IS WHAT I COME BACK TO?
Good thing we're all good friends right? eek The free stuffs are in the guild events subforum. We already had some subforums. Idek. I seriously have no idea what half the buttons in here do. Why am I substitute fearless leader again? *flails*I still don't entirely understand how this stuff works, but I do get the working poor thing. My parents were like that when we were younger. Because of the benefits that you can get not working here (like extra subsidised health care and stuff), they actually were in some ways worse off than not working at all. It seems like no matter how well intentioned any system is, there's always people who will fall through the gaps.

whalewatcher grants and loans are the only way i'm in school right now otherwise i don't know what i would be doing honestly. I am only having trouble cause i haven't been able to sign up for the FASFA early enough since we've been having financial issues we've had to deal with at home and thus i am amazed i am even here at school this semester and i'm scared for how next year might go if we don't qualify for anything and things happen next year like they are this year (in fact, the only reason i am here this semester is that my mom agreed for this loan thing that she ended up getting denied for so i have to talk to financial aid about it but otherwise i would have just said screw this we can't afford it which i almost did to begin with when i got financial aid results in the summer) Is there any chance you have any diagnosable learning disabilities? -Dyslexia, or ADD? Our eldest, right after graduating was contacted by her gifted teacher and encouraged to go get tested...yeah, AFTER graduating...we thought nothing of it--since if any of our kids did NOT have ADD, we figured it was her....we already knew her younger siblings did....turns out, so did she, she was just coping better. This means she's eligible for another 1.5k per semester (she also qualifies for free tutoring, and extended testing times) She's a math major, who is a tutor herself. I strongly suspect there are even more programs. I remember reading that there are lists of grant programs in the reference section of public libraries...I suspect there very well may be lists of scholarships as well...I'd heartily recommend trying there. Btw, I'm with your Mom on this...I think you don't give yourself enough credit. 3nodding

Yeah...it can be frustrating. I have a cousin who....well, married while still in high school...when she had her first...he was into recreational using and got her into it as well...only she didn't do well....at all. She was unable to quit. They ended up divorcing and she ended up hooked to whatever she could get a hold of for several years. When she found herself pregnant again-she did quit some things...not smoking (that we know of-the hospital accused her of more) she stayed pregnant for 3 years...so 4 kids, 3 fathers (the last two are full sisters) she's not re-married, even though she's still with the father of the last two. He qualified for electrical training (WV still has some vestiges of a work/training program if you're going to be on public assistance, you're strongly encouraged to be in school or work training too, for continued assistance) He refuses to actually work as an electrician though, since they enforce drug testing, and he won't quit smoking pot...which stays in the system for 45 days. (He goes on and on about how quick other drugs leave the system, as if pot were nothing but good) While they were living here, they were receiving 800$+ for housing: at least 600$+ for Foodstamps (I think twice a month) (not including WIC) and I don't think they EVER paid for electricity/phone/diapers...since I was driving her around to various places (churches mostly) for additional help. She (due to her drug use) also qualified for SSI (brain damage) -and yeah, they literally did have more coming in than we did....but it was soul killing. If they were able to quit drugs...they could instantly be better off than we currently are...and we tried to explain that to him several times...but addiction is evil.

Eh i'm not really doing anything outstanding though

Eh i'm not really doing anything outstanding though Find out if there's a "Department of Rehabilitation" in your state....if so, I believe the testing is free...and it certainly couldn't hurt. Between that and your local public library, there's bound to be something. There very well may be scholarships geared toward female students interested in veterinary sciences!

VKiera You are fearless leader because Maz go poof, Goats was MIA for a bit and I got fed up when we had the 'split' and quit the guild. Wait isn't Lune captain? IDK I was never sure what half the buttons in here do either o.o Maybe we should have some sort of thread clean out? I don't really mind to be honest too much, but I don't have the foggiest about half this guild functionality stuff. People don't use guilds any more really. The only communities I know who are really guild users are RPers and BG tank owners. I mean, apparently we can even buy a chat space. I have no idea what that does, but we could buy one if we wanted to.
I thought Lune was Captain & I was VC, but I know that we all got a bit iffy about the split and stuff, so I think she may have left the guild then as well?? I've made an archive subforum, so I think we can maybe move some of the old stuff into there. I've moved our old Secret Santa things into there, and I'm guessing we can maybe move some other things too.Addiction of any form is just so terrible. People put their addiction first in their lives to the point where nothing else matters, and until they reach a place where they want to change, it doesn't really matter how much other people try to help. sad I used to do some work for a charity where we helped with budgeting and such for people, and whilst we'd try and refer people to appropriate services, we couldn't really help anyone who had an addiction (drugs/gambling etc), as the addiction was so important in their lives that they couldn't stick to a budget.
I really hope that your cousin and her other half can get to a place in their lives where they're willing and able to change their situation.
