RANDOM ENCOUNTER!

A large, grotesque lumpy-looking pile of dead flesh moved out of the alleyway it was in, slowly making its way forward. It could smell the fresh blood of a human and began to salivate. It was on the blurry gate, in side the park, and up above with the smell of living flesh. The abomination's belly dragged on the ground as it crawled forward towards the pile of dead zombie corpses. It was so hungry, so unbelievably hungry. It opened up its enormous jaws and proceeded to scoop the nearest undead corpse into its mouth, then began doing something surprising. It pushed the rest of the bodies into a pile and proceeded to use the corpses of the fallen to climb over the fence. It followed the only surviving zombie as it ran over to where Xenia was perched. It began to jump without being able to reach her position, growling in frustration. It had multiple bullet wounds from her recent attack, but it still kept trying to get to her.

The other uglier zombie was much slower- and much lower to the ground. It came up behind the jumping zombie and proceeded to commit a surprising yet horrifying act: It grasped the zombie by its feet in mid-air and dragged it to the ground, pulling it systematically into its mouth as the zombie began to wail in pain and agony. After only a few seconds, the gorger had completely engulfed the other zombie, eating it like a snake, except it crunched all of the zombie's bones between its teeth as it ate. It moved so slow, yet it grabbed and ate things with such ferocious speed that it seemed to be an unreal kind of monster. Then its head craned up to look at Xenia with a rumbling stomach and a wide open jaw. Drool, blood and gore all seeped out from its mouth and dribbled on the ground. Then as if the situation only got worse, the mutant began to slowly climb the ladder towards her- all the while never taking its eyes off its prey.

☠OOC:☠ ((...))

Wilhelm blinked in surprise when she leaned a bit closer to him and then slowly smiled when she said his name in disbelief. He didn't blame her. The last time she had seen him, he was being overwhelmed by zombies. He wouldn't be surprised if she had thought he was dead. As if to reassure herself and elicit a reaction from him, she asked if it was him. "Ja, the one and only mein Lieblingsfraulein." he replied with a smirk. That sold it to him, he thought that she thought that she was seeing ghosts. Hell, he had thought the same thing. He felt his ears burn a bit when she reached up and grabbed his face and pulled his head down to look into his eyes. He felt a bit uncomfortable, remembering the last time he had seen her. The old feelings that had been only a dull throb of hope until now had began to open up and rush through his mind. He reached up and absent-mindedly put his left hand over one of hers, as if to reassure both of them that they were real.

When he realized what was going on he quickly cleared his throat and removed his hand from hers. He glanced around awkwardly as he tried to reduce the redness that tinged his ears. Then his training kicked in as he glanced over her arm. He gently grabbed it and lifted it a bit, avoiding moving it too much. "You are hurt, Loretta." he said, frowning. Then he remembered he leap from the roof. "You almost died!" he hissed at her, sounding angry. In reality he was angry at himself for not having been able to do anything and was completely worried about her. The latter was written all over his face. That was when the sounds of the infected started getting closer. "Come with me now!" he pleaded urgently, putting her uninjured arm over his shoulders and helping her across the street to the ladder against the Apartment roof that he had come off of. "Hurry, we'll have to catch up later!" He gestured to the ladder and pulled out his silenced pistol, ready to protect her as she ascended to the roof.

The zombies had reached the street now, pouring out and running at the two survivors. Wilhelm whipped his pistol up to bear and began to fire silenced rounds at them. A sudden howl caught him by surprised, and it seemed to have the same effect on all the zombies. He was taking the lull to reload his weapon since he had spent his clip and only killed a few of the zombies. He blamed the suppressor and the distance, but wasn't complaining about either blessings. Once he slid the fresh clip home, another howl echoed through the sky that sounded far off but still unbelievably loud. Then to his disbelief, the zombies began running off in the direction of the noise. Wilhelm blinked, totally baffled by what had just happened. "Mein Gott... thing are just getting so surreal today." he muttered. He checked the area around them and the holstered his pistol when there were no zombies to be found. After that and once Loretta had successfully climbed the ladder, he followed suit and pulled it up after them. He immediately took off his pack and retrieved a medical field kit and two bottles of medication: one of pain killers and one of anti-inflammatories. He immediately got to work on Loretta's arm and put a water bottle down in front of her from his pack. "It's... really good to see you." he said a bit awkwardly as he tried to suppress the urge to speak German to her. His accent was still there when he spoke, but there was a newer addition- a blatant happiness. "Are you hurt anywhere else?" he asked her as he bandaged up the cut on her arm.

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.”

A few days ago Freyja had left the security of her base to venture into town for supplies. Usually she never left the shelter of the woods that were so familiar to her, especially not to venture into that forsaken city - before or after the infection. Unfortunately, usually, was not today. Instead she found herself holed up in an apartment complex located in damn near the center of the city.
'At least it isn't the mall' she thought to herself as the growled a little at her predicament. When she had left her humble abode she hadn't taken much food stores with her as she preferred to travel light, though she packed enough for a couple extra days she hadn't expected to be in the city this long. As such, her food stores were nearly depleted and she was quite hungry.

Upon entering the city she'd headed for the mall to get the few things she had needed, Once she saw the state of the large shopping complex she had quickly dismissed any notion of entering that hellhole. The place was over run with the infected. She then figured the next best place to find what she needed would be the apartment complexes, it was on her way there that she'd run into trouble. A large hoard of zombies outside the theater spotted her and chased her for three days from hiding spot to hiding spot, it was now the 5th. She was really becoming fed up with their persistence as the sat in a small wooden shed that was backed up against the apartment buildings; she'd been in there for two days now. Luckily the door was a sturdy one or else she'd have been mauled to death by now. She had thought that the infected would have forgotten about her by now, and found something to occupy themselves with other than herself and the little building she'd holed up in. After the first 24 hours of waiting, to her great dismay, she realized the hoard would keep her company through thick and thin. She'd began sawing a hole in the thick ceiling, it was now her 5th day in the city and she needed to get out of the shed today, or else she'd starve to death. As such, she worked harder to get out slowly sawing open a hole in the roof big enough she could climb through.

'Finally' she thought as she lowered the circular chunk of wood quietly to the floor and silently hoisted herself up and climbed out onto the roof. She peered over the edges of the shed to see the b*****d zombies that had given her so much trouble. At the moment she wanted nothing more than to slaughter them all, but that would be risky when there was higher ground within an arms reach. Giving the ridiculously stupid creatures one last foul glare she made her way up onto the roof of the apartments and began looking for a way into the building. As she did so a strange howling noise bellowed through the city from what sounded like east of her. The noise was followed by the shuffling and moaning of zombies ambling off in the same direction of whence the sound came. She watched as the hoard of zombies, that had so diligently chased her, scurried off not five minutes after her escape, to which she elicited a single sound, 'tch.'

Loretta blinked in disbelief as Wilhelm spoke up but then smiled brightly. "Oh, it is you! I thought I'd never find you so soon!" She looked back into his eyes, knowing that they were his and not belonging to a ghost or figment. He placed his hand over her's and she continued on smiling, everything around her forgotten for the moment. But then he had cleared his throat and moved away, embarrassment clearly showing on his face. She chuckled and dropped her hands from his face, the moment gone. She looked around but found that the streets around them was completely devoid of zombies. She felt a light grip on her arm and tilted her head down to find that he was holding her arm, inspecting it carefully. It was then that the stinging in her arm had returned, along with the dull aching throughout most of her body. She nodded, not even seeming to mind the fact that she was injured. Having a high tolerance for pain, combined with depression, could do that sometimes. That and there was just so much that she didn't want to deal with it anymore. She looked up at his face as he hissed at her and smiled reassuringly. "But I didn't, and if I did then... Well, things happen." She smiled again, though more along the lines of looking a bit sad then reassuring. "There is no need to be worried now."

Loretta then heard the sounds of approaching zombies and she instantly pulled out her machete. They just didn't give up, did they? No, of course not, they were zombies. He suddenly put her uninjured arm around his shoulder to help her support her weight and lead her to a ladder. She looked at the ladder and then glanced back at him, wondering if she should stay to help him. But he was doing this for her and he was more than able to protect himself. She nodded and placed her machete back before beginning to pull herself up the side of the building. As she climbed she heard a groan come from a zombie, much closer now, and looked down to watch the hoard pour  out of the Office building and move towards them. Then, without warning, a loud howl sounded in the distance and the zombies turned away as if they had forgotten their existence. She stared after then in complete disbelief before shaking her head and pulling her way up the rest of the building and onto the roof. These zombies were strange. She sat down on the roof and waited for Wilhelm, who she could tell was climbing the ladder just by the noises.

As soon as he had got on the roof Loretta smiled, watching as he sat down in front of her and set to work on her injured arm. She held out her arm carefully and very still as he worked on it. As he did she noticed the water bottle he had placed in front of her and managed to open it by holding it against her leg while she undid the cap. She took small sips, glancing down at her arm every so often. When he spoke she looked up at his face and grinned. He was so awkward. "It is good to see you too." She was glad to hear the tone of happiness in his tone, suggesting that he was as happy as she was. When he asked if she was injured anywhere else she chuckled. "Am I hurt anywhere else..." She repeated with a slightly sarcastic tone. "Well, yes, but it isn't anything I can't deal with. Just bruises, I'm sure."

              --------------------

Xenia kept a close eye on the pile of zombie corpses. So when an extremely ugly and grotesque zombie came into view she did not miss it at all. She watched with morbid fascination as it swallowed a corpse whole like a snake does with a mouse. Though fascinated she couldn't help but feel disgusted as well. It must be intelligent too because it used the fallen bodies to build a sorts of stairs to climb over the fence. It proceeded to follow a surviving zombie she did not notice and took her by complete surprise when it grabbed the zombie by the ankles and shoved it whole into its huge mouth. It was unlike anything she has seen before. She wasn't sure if she should stay completely still in hopes that it would not notice her or to prepare her weapon. She opted for staying still and quiet at the moment, slowly placing a hand around her gun just in case. In just minutes it devoured most of the zombie corpses, a disgusting mix of blood and gore dripping from its wide open mouth. Then suddenly, like a scene from a horror movie, it turned its head to look up at her.

Xenia knew that staying still was no longer an option. She lifted her gun, reloading it quickly just in case, and made sure that she had a dagger within quick and easy reaching distance. She stared down at it, wondering if she should wait or attack it now. Considering the speed at which it ate... Now would probably be a better option. She lifted up her gun, aimed down at its slowly approaching figure, and fired it.

RANDOM ENCOUNTER!

The Gorger kept drooling a unbelievable amount of saliva now with no trace of blood or gore. It ate and digested impossibly quickly as it climbed, keeping its beady black eyes on Xenia. Its stomach growled at the prospect of a new meal and then the pain came. Pieces of metal- fast ones, just like last time. It grumbled a bit at the pain, slowly continuing its ascent. It seemed to absorb the bullets like a sponge, but it bled out a disgusting mix or blood and decayed matter from each wound inflicted. It's brain was still undamaged, and so it reached the top of the ladder. By this time (I'm certain Xenia would have started to try to leave), it reached out with its arm like the strike of a frog's tongue and pulled Xenia to the ground. It grumbled pleasantly as it opened its maw wide, letting a disgusting scent escape. It pulled hard on her legs, hoping to ingest her as easily as the zombies... and the other humans.

Before it could pull her leg into its gaping jaws a loud report of a high-caliber round echoed across the buildings, followed in close proximity by the Gorger's brains exploding outward. Its vile matter sprayed all over Xenia a coated the platform they were on. Slowly its grip on her ankle loosened as all its muscles relaxed in death. It was a very close call, and a lucky circumstance. If Xenia had managed to blow its brains out, she might have still been bitten or lost a foot... even a leg. Something was definitely odd about the situation, and there was no one to be seen around.

A survivor covered in a ghillie suit checked to confirm his kill and then nodded. She was lucky that he had been looking for mutated undead to kill and that he had seen it in time. He was a couple thousand meters away, camouflaged and out of sight of humans and zombies. As if it were just another normal day, he packed up his rifle and moved on.

A single car was driving along the almost completely empty highway towards the city. If there were anyone left alive to see, they would notice that the vehicle was slowly starting to loose momentum. From inside the silver car, a young man cursed and smacked the dashboard in frustration as the gas gauge hit empty. It was now running on fumes and had slowed down to a dying crawl. Cain had been driving for three days and two nights, non stop and it was a miracle that the car had lasted this long without fuel. Once or twice along the road he had stopped at a gas station only to find that the stores had been ransacked and all the gasoline either stolen or used up. He might have stopped at some of the others he saw along the way but they had all been already over run by the walking corpses that now had seemingly taken over the world.

"Damn it!" Cain said as the vehicle he was in came to a complete stop on the highway. He just sat there for a few moments before finally climbing to the back seat and gathering up all his crap before getting out of the car. He looked around cautiously, making sure there was no danger in the area, then started the walk towards the city. There had to be some survivors there, right? An entire city couldn't be taken out by this plague so quickly, could it? Cain laughed grimly to himself, realizing that this hope of his was nothing but a pipe dream. Of course the cities would be the first places to go. It was the large population itself that would spread the disease so quickly. If there were any survivors he was more likely to find them in small towns than in the city. He didn't have anywhere else to go right now though and he needed supplies if he was going to make it any further. The city was the only choice he had right now. He just hoped it wouldn't be his last.

By now Cain was only two or three miles away from the edge of the city as he walked a steady pace down the middle of the road. Suddenly he came to a halt though. Something was making a feint noise near by and Cain had to strain his ears to hear it, but a soft whimpering sound could clearly be heard as he stood there silently. As quietly as he could, Cain drew a large knife from the side pocket of his bag and followed the sound. He reached the edge of the road where some guard rails protected traffic from falling off the edge. There was about an 8 foot drop into a dip between two hills where the highway formed a bridge across. Cain made his way over to the hill and hopped over the railing and slowly and carefully sneaked down the hill, praying that he wouldn't be met with a wailing zombie at the bottom. To his surprise, he was met with the sight of a mess of blonde hair and a bundle of cloth with some small feet poking out the bottom that shook a bit every now and then.
"Are.... you ok?" Cain said quietly, lowering his blade a bit.

Nitori jumped in surprise at the sound of a voice. She quickly rolled over onto her knees to face the man who had spoken.
"Wilhelm!!!" The little girl squeaked in joy as she wiped away some tears from her face. The lights in her eyes quickly dimmed though as she realized that this person was not who she was expecting. Large drops of water quickly formed under her eyes again as she started to cry again. Cain just stood there looking confused and a little stupid. However, he quickly jumped into action as her crying grew dangerously loud. "Shh! Shh! Stop! It's ok, I'm not gonna hurt you." He whispered, running over to her and crouching down to her level while putting his knife back in his bag. "Look, I know I'm obviously not who you were hoping to see, but maybe I can help you find who you are looking for, ok. Just please stop crying!" Cain tried to comfort her. Nitori finally stopped her weeping and sniffed a few times, looking up at the stranger. She thought he looked kind of funny looking but didn't say anything. At the mention of him helping her find her friends, her face brightened a bit and she nodded to Cain. "I'm Nitori... Who are you?"She asked, tilting her head a bit at him. Cain sighed in relief and answered her question, standing up again. "My name's Cain. Look, I'm not from around here, so do you think you could show me where I could get some supplies? I'm running low on gas for my car and could also use some food. Maybe while we grab that stuff we can look for whoever it is that you lost. Sound good?" Nitori bit her lip, thinking for a moment. She remembered looking all over the place with Wilhelm and Loretta for supplies. There were a few places she remembered where they had found some stuff, so maybe there would still be more there if they went back. She nodded her head at Cain and stood up, brushing the dirt off her clothes and smiling at him. "Ok. I'll help you if you help me." With that, Nitori took Cain's hand and started to lead him back up the hill towards the highway. Cain was a little surprised when the little girl just grabbed his hand and started leading him, but he went ahead and followed her, if a bit uncomfortably, back to the road. He just hoped that the child knew what she was doing. It would be catastrophic for the both of them if she led him into a hoard of those dead creeps.

Wilhelm was trying to place where he had heard that familiar howling noise before, and trying even harder to figure out why all the zombies seemed to be attracted to it. He was sure that he had heard it before. He continued to bandage Loretta's arm, abashed at her response. I'm glad, I finally found you after so long... he thought, hoping that this time they wouldn't get separated. No, I won't let that happen again. I still have to find Nirtori, though... He frowned a bit in concern as he remembered how small and alone the child had been. He looked up in surprise as Loretta sarcastically quipped about her injuries and couldn't help but smile. At least she doesn't seem so down now... I only wish it could stay like this... he thought as he taped the bandage in place and stayed still, holding the hand of her extended arm. He was entirely silent and his brows were furrowed, obviously in thought but it was impossible to know what he was thinking. I might have something that could help her at my room... There's a lot of medications there, even ones I don't know what they do. Would she want to come back with me, though? I never really knew if she was just with me to survive, but how could I impose those feelings on her? Wilhelm suddenly grumbled and ruffled his hair with his free hand out of frustration. Then he stopped, remembering what Loretta had said.

"Well, if you have bruises, I may be able to help with that." he told her suddenly, removing his pack and placing it on the ground. He let go of her hand and rummaged through the pack until he found a bottle of pain killers and then reached in again to remove another bottle of pills. He shook out some after checking the backs to make sure they could be used in unison safely by reading the backs of them. He smiled and handed them to Loretta. "These will help with the pain and the swelling." he said softly. "I wanted to ask you, Loretta... would you-" His latest question was cut off by a loud gunshot that Wilhelm recognized as a high caliber sniper's rifle bullet rang through the streets. It was definitely far off from where they were, but his first reaction had been to dive and knock Loretta to the ground to protect her in case the bullet was aimed in their direction. He realized how dumb his reaction was after a couple of seconds, suddenly becoming concerned again. He looked down at her and quickly apologized for possibly hurting her or startling her, just then realizing that he was lying on top of her and nearly sprang off her. "Entschultigung..." he said quickly, looking away. He stayed silent after that until a moment later, when he noticed that there was a person on a nearby roof... or was it a zombie? It seemed a bit roughed up, but it was a bit far away for him to tell if it was a person or not. His hands subconsciously reached down to rest on his sidearm, ready to use it if necessary.

"Loretta, there's something or someone on a nearby roof." he whispered, breaking the silence he had caused. His questions for her would have to wait, but there were so many. He wanted to simply catch up, but it seemed like they wouldn't be able to until they were in some safe shelter. Then another thought occurred to him. I still need to go scavenging for food and supplies. This place may be just as good as any to start... He blinked quickly and regained focus. He couldn't afford to be so scatter-brained when danger could be standing across the roofs from them.

Running On Borrowed Time

As Cain and Nitori got closer to the city they heard a howl that seemed very far off. It sounded almost like a noise that an animal would make, but somehow sounded a bit human. After it faded, there was just eerie silence. The pair of survivors would find no trouble as they entered the city between the Amusement Park and Asylum, but would notice that there were almost no zombies around. They would also only be able to see these two places from a bit of a distance on either side of them. The few zombies that they saw seemed very preoccupied with traveling in the same direction across the city, as if they were being drawn to a place. As they took their first steps onto the streets, they would notice a pack on the ground that seemed to be stuffed. If they opened it, they would see that it was full of water bottles and assortments of dried fruit.

User Image

On a building above them, a man in a Ghille suit was staring down at the man and child through binoculars. He had seen them entering the city and made a pack of food and water for the child and what he hoped was someone taking care of her. He would watch them carefully now from the roof, but he would be nearly impossible to spot, looking like a patch of fuzz, grass, or mold. He could not help but feel sympathy for a child who had to live in this new hellish world. Now it all depended on how they would react. The mysterious survivor waited patiently as they wandered in.

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.”

After the zombies made their way east Freyja began taking in her new surroundings; she need to look for supplies and weaknesses in the fortitude of the building, as well as for other zombies and... more human threats. As she began her survey one loud, clear, and very high caliber gun shot rang through the air. She quickly got low to the ground and loaded the large wooden long bow that had been slung across her chest and back. After a few seconds she felt as though it was safe to stand again, she had been unsure as to the vicinity wear the shot had been aimed nor at whom, but she had not heard a bullet strike nearby. Also the shooter could have easily reload and fired a second shot by now. A moment more and the presence of the shooter disappeared, yet it felt as though someone was watching her.

Sure enough, after a few seconds of searching, she found the source of the feeling. Two people sat on top of another apartment nearby, a man, who was looking at her, and a woman who appeared to be injured. Freyja had unconsciously, and automatically, trained her bow on them as soon as she had become aware of their location. The arrow was pulled back and aimed, if she wanted she could take him out before he trained her gun on him. It didn't look as though it was even in his hand, though, the placement of his hand on his hip told her otherwise. She waited a few seconds more, her arrow steady, watching and waiting. When he didn't fire she slowly lowered her bow and unstrung her arrow replacing it in the quiver at her back. She waited a few seconds more before turning her head and resuming her search for supplies. If either of them were to attempt to speak to her she would not react and simply resume her search as if she hadn't heard them. She didn't like working with anyone, it was just something she never did, and she liked it that way, preferred it that way, and needed it that way. If they were to elicit more of a response from her they would need to get close enough that she couldn't just ignore them.

Putting her bow over her shoulder she finally begun to look for those weak boards and secret entrances to the apartments. She walked along the rooftops until she found a ledge that safely allowed her to climb on to the ground below. This put her in the front yard of an apartment with shoddy, and rotting timbers nailed across the windows. It looked as though someone had lived there sometime ago but since died or vacated. In her mind it was the only fallible excuse for the sad state of 'boarded' windows. The fact that someone had once holed up here also brought her some hope; if she were lucky there would still be some food stuffs and useful items within the home. More than anything she needed to restore her food stocks, and her belly. Before setting to work at dismantling the barrier she tried opening the door, just in case. Unfortunately, it was locked with a secure deadbolt and wouldn't budge. She, therefore, began removing the boards covering the window. It wasn't difficult as the rotted wood would crumble from the friction and pressure at the nail. It wasn't long before she'd cleared it completely, revealing a large unbroken and heavily dirtied slab of glass. All that was left was to smash it. Fortunately the streets were clear of infected since the howl, however, it didn't mean that there might not be anymore around either so she still had to be cautious. For all she knew there could be zombies, or survivors (though she doubted it) in the small home. Drawing her skinning knife in her left hand, and grabbing a good sized rock from the flower bed of dead daisies in her right, she began smashing the window.

                                                      Condition: fine

The sensation of her hand being clasped by Dylan snapped her back to reality. They ran from the swimming pool to the gym. She looked at him, perplexed. Her eyes never wavered from his back figure as she allowed herself to be tugged along with him. She hadn't remembered what it was like to be touch by someone that wasn't dead. It was nostalgic and felt nice despite her better judgement.

"Ema, you gotta snap out of it. We're going to make it through this alive." He said, squeezing her hand tighter.

She blinked after realizing she was drifting back into a state of detachment. Ema quickly jerked her hand away from his and crossed her arms. "I always make it through alive." She said as if it was the easiest thing in the world to do--survive. Then he began going off on a plan to escape this mousetrap they were in. It's funny, because she rarely follows other people's plan. It requires trust, and she didn't trust her life with Dylan. And when he made the assumption that she was smart, it clarified her doubt in him. He didn't seem to know what to do. "Well I--" She paused after drawing a blank from her train of thought. He didn't know what to do, so what did that say for her? Sure she knew the school, but not the zombie version. She didn't know what places were best to hide, and which halls were dangerous or safe. She has only been here for a little over an hour.

Think, Ema, think! What should we do? The bleachers did look promising, but also dangerous. She couldn't stress out the feeling of being enclosed. Nothing irked her more than closure. Where else can we go? She tried to think, but it was hard with all the door pounding and growling going on just outside the gym. When the sound of glass breaking reached Ema's ears, she felt her heart sank. The zombies from outside are getting in and it won't be much longer till that group comes to help knock down the door.

"Let's just get--" She was going to suggest running out the back door and heading upstairs, but the loud bang of a gunshot cut her off. The noise also caught the zombies attention, and they ran off to the sound but not long after, the door to the gym broke down. Ema sucked in a sharp breath and reflectively reached for Dylan's arm. She let go of him just as fast as she grabbed on, and ran for the ladder. She climbed up as fast as she could and nearly flopped onto the catwalk.

What do I do? She had no plan. Her eyes scanned the gym quickly searching for a way out. But she couldn't sort out the mess in her mind. She always knew what she was doing and she always had a plan, but none of that involved Dylan. He was another variable to the equation she didn't know the answer to. If he wasn't here, she'd be able to think clearly. If he wasn't here, she wouldn't be stuck like this. If he wasn't here...

Ema swallowed and turned a shaky glance toward Dylan. She knew she wasn't thinking straight, and it scared her to have such heinous ideas in her head. She wasn't a murderer. No. She wasn't. No matter what happened, she didn't do anything wrong.

A loud howl engulfed the world around her. Ema felt her body tense and freeze as she tuned her ears to the sound. Everything stopped for a moment. No one moved. The zombies hushed and came to a startling halt as their heads shot toward the direction the howling was coming from. Then the world quickly came back to life as if the pause button played again. The zombies ran back out from the door and left Ema petrified. She was confused, and that gave her cold feet.

"I don't..." She struggled to keep her voice from trembling. She was struck with too much paranoia for one morning. Her system crashed, and all she could pay attention to now is the lull beating of her heart.

Alexander Ashewell

User Image Seeing the zombies now ahead of him, Alexander scowled. There was no way back, and it looked like there were at least fewer zombies this way. Just think of it like a game of Red Rover, straight through. However, as he got closer, a blood-chilling howl filled the air. The zombies seemed to be distracted by it, staring off into the direction it came. Taking advantage of the distraction, Alexander charged through a gap between two zombies, and let out a whoop of exhilaration.
"Woohoo! Catch me if you..... Huh?"
Looking over his shoulder, he saw the zombies continuing the ignore him, and then heading off in the direction of the howl. Skidding to a halt, Alexander stood there with a puzzled look on his face. What could that sound be, to draw all the zombies away from him like that? Flicking the after back on his pistol, he holstered it, and shrugged. Whatever it was, it had probably just saved him some trouble. Switching his sword back to his right hand just in case, he caught his breath while thinking of a plan. SO there hadn't been anything in the woodshop to move all the stuff, and a good chunk of the planks looked too large to move solo anyway. But he did know he would be able to fit a few smaller boxes of nails and some of the tools in his pack, and those were worth grabbing today. Afterwards, he would find the janitors closet and search there. Maybe they had a rolling platform to move stuff, or maybe some other junk that could prove useful, something that could help with electrical repairs. He knew the Library still had power, but he avoided using it because quite honestly, he didn't know how stable it was, or how to fix it if it broke. He also imagined zombies would be quite attracted to a lit up building at night. Having caught his breath, he headed back to the woodshop to grab the items he could, before moving on the the janitor's supply.

Loretta smiled at Wilhelm as he finished wrapping up her arm. His movements slowed once he was done and he was holding her hand as he seemed to drift off into some universe where she could not follow him to. Then suddenly he came to and told her that he may have something for her bruises. She chuckled and pulled her hand back to place it in her lap gently so she would not jar her wounded arm. He pulled a few bottles out of a bag he was carrying and she smiled as she took the pills she offered to him. She placed all of them into her mouth and swallowed them down with a sip of water from the water bottle she had place to the side while he was cleaning her wound. She gave him a grateful smile, putting the cap on the bottle and placing it into her golf bag. She was just standing up as he spoke up again and she paused to look at him, waiting for him to finish his question before she would respond. But then a gunshot rang out in the silence and she stood up all the way, alert and looking in the direction she thought it came from. Before she could pinpoint where it did come from she was suddenly knocked off her feet and was lying down with a heavy weight on top of her. She then realized that Wilhelm reacted to the noise by throwing himself on top of her. At first she was just surprised but then she was pretty amused. He seemed to be embarrassed and he pulled himself off of her with a muttered German word. She laughed and pulled herself into a sitting position and then stood up. She looked at Wilhelm, smiling, as he stood in silence. His seriousness worried her and her smile faded. She followed his gaze to a distant roof and noticed the... Shadow that he was looking at.

"I see it," Loretta responded, squinting at the shadow in an attempt to figure out if it was dangerous. So far it hadn't moved so she wasn't sure. She pulled out her machete and ran her fingers lightly over the edge of the blade, tracing pale scars that were months or even years old. "Perhaps we should leave the roof and onto the streets below? They look pretty empty." As if to prove her point she moved closer to the edge of the building and looked down at the streets below. There wasn't a zombie in sight. She glanced at the shadowy figure then back to Wilhelm, eyebrows raised in an unspoken question. It was then she noticed another figure, female, with a bow pointed at them. She did not dare to move lest it send an arrow towards them both with means to kill them. She did, however, tilt her head to the side as if she were a curious animal. It was like that for a few minutes and then the bow was relaxed and the female disappeared. She made a small and slight humming noise but then turned back to Wilhelm. She wasn't sure if he had seen the female but she didn't say a word of it. If that scene was anything to go by then she would think that female was a little less than friendly towards strangers and she didn't want anymore trouble.

              ---------------------

Xenia continued in an attempt to hit something vital and kill the disgusting, mutated zombie. But it absorbed each bullet without showing any signs of slowing down. By then she realized it was no use to shoot at it so she tried to pull out a dagger to try and kill it that way. But by the time she got it out she felt a grip on her ankles and felt a fleeting moment of fear before she lost her balance. Her back collided into the metal platform and she lost her breath for a moment. She was dragged forward and she tried to find a way to slow her descent into a painful death in some way. But it was quite inevitable. When her leg was just about to disappear into its mount she lifted her dagger so she could try to stab it in the eye.

Before Xenia could get the point of the dagger close to its decaying flesh a loud gunshot rang out in the silence, making her jump on surprise. The following bullet buried itself into the zombie's head, sending all matter of decaying material in a spray over her body. She felt the grip loosen on her ankle, indicating that the zombie had died. She shuddered in disgust, not knowing what to do with herself. After a few minutes in an attempt to wipe off the varying blood and gore with no success she stood up slowly. She put back her dagger back as she looked around for anyone that could've shot the zombie. She didn't she anyone at all. Perhaps they had ran away the moment the deed was done. She shrugged, silently thanked whoever it was, and headed down the ladder. When she reached the ground she held her gun close to her, ready to use, and decided to go out for awhile. Maybe look for the mysterious person that had helped her.

Dylan Reynolds

☢I'm Not Hiding, I'm Living:☢ At the Gymnasium.
☠Group:☠ Ema.
☠Get Pumped:☠ They're coming...
☠I Hate Thinking:☠ It's cool, no need for thanks or anything...
☠OOC:☠ ((...))

Dylan was a bit shocked by how offended Ema got when he had tried to help her. I guess that was a poor choice in words... he mentally admitted, frowning. Still, he couldn't help but feel like she was judging him in some way. She was so silent all the time, and barely seemed to be able to finish a single sentence. He figured she was scared but now he was not about to try and console her. There was way too much to worry about that was more threatening than feelings being hurt. He sighed explosively as the zombies broke through the glass of the door's small windows. It was only a matter of time before they were overrun- they needed to move fast. She had just began to give him a response when a gunshot rang out from outside. He jumped a bit and his eyes widened in surprise. Another survivor? Maybe we have more than a snowball's chance in hell here. We would need to assemble a crew. He began forming a leadership plan, which was pretty much the extent of his planning talents in general.

His thoughts were interrupted by the gym door being broken open. He had felt her squeeze his arm for a moment before letting go and turned to see what was wrong. As soon as he looked, he saw that she was booking it away from him to the ladder. That really irked him- it was complete cowardice and a lack of teamwork. You've got to be kidding me... he thought miserably. He had been so preoccupied with her abandoning him and being so mad that he had entirely forgotten about the zombies... until now. He spun around and was terrified to see an arm being brought down at his face like a club. Now he was completely enraged and frightened, raising his hands in a vain attempt to protect himself so that he could try to run. Then a howl burst through the air that caused Dylan's blood to freeze over. He couldn't move, but he was able to open his eyes again to see the zombies right in front of him. Heck, he could stick out his tongue and lick one if he wanted to (but he didn't)- they were way too close.

What gives? he wondered as his chest heaved quickly from the fear and adrenaline. He noticed that all of the zombies were looking away from him, and used the opportunity to take a few steps back and heft his baseball bat forward. When he swung the bat flew through the air without contact, much to his surprise. He noted that all the zombies were quickly filing out of the area. He let out a loud exhale of relief, but the good vibe was quickly replaced with rage. He turned around and spied Ema trembling on the catwalk above and threw his arms up in the air with a scowl. "What the hell kind of plan was that?" he yelled, completely furious. He could have sworn her lips moved, or that she had said something, but he couldn't hear it. "What?" His voice had begun to quiet down as he quieted down from his near death experience. He thought bitterly, Save someone's life and get left to die. Fan-freakin'-tastic.

After a bit of hacking away at the window, the window caved in, shattering glass shards all over the inside of the apartment that Freyja broke into. There were still jagged shards of glass all around the hole, but they could easily be knocked down. The inside of the house was littered by trash and empty food boxes, suggesting that all of the food had already been eaten. If she wandered far enough, she would find the family dead and emaciated but not zombified. There was no food or water to be found throughout the entire apartment but there were matches a lantern and batteries in the upper cabinet above the sink to be found. There was also a small note on the ground by the body of the small boy with a picture and a warning. It was a very crude picture of a zombie with abnormally big hands and claws with the word "BRAWLER" in parentheses below the drawing. The warning was hard to read because the boy was just learning to write, but it read: "BRAWLER HIT DADDY AND NOW HE IS HURT BAD. MOMMY WORRIED BUT HE SAYS HES OK. BIG BRAWLER FIGHTS EVERYTHING VERY SCARY AND BIG AND STRONG AND UGLY. WATCH OUT." This bizarre picture and warning would give any survivor that came across it new information on a different kind of special infected.

There were about five apartments that could be easily broken into, and none of them held zombies. In fact, only two of them held any food or water. It was all up to luck to see who found the abandoned apartments with food and water in them, but one of them held something much more valuable inside. Who will find it? (p.s. I'm not going to release which houses have what until they are entered. Also, the special thing so that I don't forget is a video tape with a playback camcorder that needs batteries. It'll be a surprise as to what's on there.)

The school was now entirely devoid of zombies. All places were able to be searched without fear of being attacked. Some of the lockers lining the halls held food and water bottles, but some others held hints and messages! o: who will find them, or will anyone find them at all? Anyway, there was also a wood palette cart in the gymnasium that would be useful for carrying large supplies or large quantities of supplies, but would require two people to move. Also, The was nothing in the janitor's supply closet but some cleaners, a rag, and then a bloody handprint with a bizarre-looking key resting on top of it. What's the key for? Perhaps there's a room that the key opens somewhere in the school...

If anyone wandered into the main office, they might be able to find the hidden stashes of water bottle packs and boxed foods. They might also find reports from the school administrators and nurses that may be helpful in providing information on what happened and what was being done. It could be useful for finding other shelter or help.

Additional Information:
The Mall is almost now entirely devoid of zombies. Zombies are gathering in large masses at the Movie Theater. It seems like there is a lot of noise there, and multiple projection machines are running. If anyone walks near the place, they will see many zombies wandering to it and An enormous amount of zombies teeming from every edge of it. The area is also very loud Voices, gunfire, yelling and growling can be heard from outside. It is advised to stay far away from this area- but it looks almost as if it was set up by someone to distract the zombies... but who?

☢Just Another Day Here:☢ Nearby / Inside the Apartments
☠Other Survivors I’m With:☠ Loretta.
☠And I'm:☠ Gathering supplies and catching up with her.
☠What’s On My Mind:☠ Where's Nitori?
☠OOC:☠ ((...))

Wilhelm was a bit aggravated by how quickly another survivor had taken aim at the both of them. Why bother trying to survive against a horde of undead if you're only going to kill your fellow humans? He mused bitterly as he watched the figure in the distance knock an arrow back into their bowstring. He was more than trigger-happy at the moment, ready to draw and fire should the person turn out to be a psychopath. He was not about to let anyone take away the only person he knew left in this world that was still alive. His calf muscles and index finger twitched in anticipation, ready to jump into action- but almost as soon as the bow was drawn, it was put away again and the arrow was returned to its quiver. He frowned, not entirely understanding why that just happened, but he heard a soft hum from Loretta and decided not to confront the other survivor. He wasn't about to risk his life or Loretta's over saying a casual 'hello'. Some people work better alone... he thought to himself, holstering his weapon once again.

He turned back to Loretta once the tension finally died down and nodded in agreement. "I suppose we should leave the roof and search any apartments we have while we have the chance." he said with a grin, I would also have to make the obvious suggestion that we avoid contact with that survivor unless it's necessary. They don't seem too... welcoming of other survivors." He shrugged and climbed down the ladder and hopped to the ground. He held the ladder for Loretta when she decided to climb down as well, making sure he kept an eye on her so that she wouldn't fall. Once that was done he looked around and spotted an apartment he saw as an easy target to break into, pointing to it casually. "Let's go check this apartment. I think we can get in where those old plywood boards are set up." As they walked across the street he finally asked her one of the questions that had been bugging him. "Where's Nitori?" He was definitely concerned about the girl being on her own and simply had hoped she was alive and with Loretta, but now he was very nervous for her safety, feeling as though she was definitely in danger... or dead.

He pushed aside those morbid thoughts and then asked another question after she had answered the first. "Are you staying anywhere Loretta?" he asked, shifting a bit nervously. He then began to occupy his mind and hands on removing the planks from the door, using one of his knives to cut out the nails that had been holding it fast over the window. He would listen to her answers as he whittled away at the boards, pulling off every one that came loose. Eventually, he was able to get to the window pane itself and shatter it with a stiff elbow. He quickly knocked off the remaining glass shards with his knife and climbed inside, offering Loretta a hand to help her in. The inside of the house was entirely wrecked, He didn't see any signs of living or undead around, and he also saw a whole lot of empty boxes that used to hold food. He frowned and muttered, "It looks like this place got cleaned out before being boarded up, which seems a bit odd..." His brows furrowed as he contemplated what it could mean.
