Rubbing her head, Voodoo shot Lock a dirty look, but finally decided she was in this with him. Lock gave a sigh of relief as he began channeling his shadows through her. It was much easier to rely on shadows than his come-what-may melee skills.
That is, when he could actually summon the shadows. He was having a bit of trouble now actually. This was embarrassing.

When Lock nailed it, Lock NAILED it. Shadows poured out of his pockets, , spiking the mascot reaper where he stood, trapping him in one spot.
"Now!" Voodoo nodded and ran forth, batting at the mascot with her little claws. That was progress!

Now they were at least somewhat working together, but it was strange- Lock felt himself grow more and more tired as the reaper mascot ran around his legs, tiny scythe slashing his legs. s**t. Had he been doing that the whole time?
"Lock! Pay attention!" Oh s**t. Looking up, he realized the tiny reaper mascot had now lunged for him.

He screeched, flailing the mascot off of him. "Sorry!" he called out. This whole fighting thing was a lot more complicated than it seemed.
Voodoo was the tenacious one. She kept splitting, reforming and bashing the mascot as best she could. Honestly, it was Lock who was in shambles. "Keep it together!!"
"I'm trying!!"

In a feeble final attempt to keep himself afloat, he recalled his shadows, bringing them back to himself, but by then it was too late. The mascot struck the boil one last time, and Lock was down.
Almost mechanically, the mascot seemed to shut down and disappear, as older alumni came in to finish it off. Voodoo morosely plopped herself on Lock's chest. "Well. You tried."

Fighting was not Alex's thing. Not Alex's thing at all. He pretty much apologized to the amassed group of undead as they entered the battlefield as soon as they got there, and attempted to use his only Fear attack that might have been useful against a dark ghostly wisp thing.
And it failed, because Alex could never do anything right when it came to battling. Ever.

But he wasn't one to give up so easily. It was time to just use his fists against this stupid thing.
With his Fear concentrated into his fists, he was at least able to hit it with a straight up, heavy punch.

Okay so now maybe he could keep up the hitting thing. He gave it another swing, this time without using his Fear.
And hit it even harder then before. Interesting.

Okay he knew his family was somewhere in the stands watching him, because he could hear his obnoxious brother yelling insults at him in a sharp voice that carried over the cheering crowd. Alex gritted his teeth and took another swing.
Stupid distracting brother Alex was so going to murder you later, if he could manage to hit you.

Battling? Great. That was Mei's serious weak point.
Battling.
She wrung her hands as the mobs began to take the field. The ghoul didn't like fighting at all. It always went bad for her. Glancing up at the stands, she tried to perhaps find a sympathetic eye but found none. The crowd was screaming and cheering.
Turning she took a blow to the face, knocking her to the ground. Mei laid there for a few seconds. Alright, looked like the monster picked her.

Shaking it off, Alex took a step back and waited for the perfect oppurtunity to strike, which came when the ghost darted towards him in an attempt to knock him off his feet. He pulled his fist back and let it surge forward, knocking the stupid black wisp out of the field and straight into dissipation. That would have gone so much better if his first Fear attack hadn't completely failed. Good thing he had apologized in advance..... Alex HP: 32 Damage: 11!!! She rolled out of the way of another attack. This one aimed to crush her head into the ground. Scurrying to her feet, she dusted herself off momentarily. But the monster left her little time to breath before it was on her again.
Grasping her fist in one hand, she aimed the point of her elbow at it and lunged forward. Putting as much weight behind it as she could. Knocking it to the ground like it had done to her.

Elium hadn't been anticipating his shadow to be the source of this trial--but then again, he really shouldn't have been that surprised, especially not after the previous challenges. The shape of the Monster mascot reared its head from behind him, and the plague eater whirled around, muttering under his breath as he jumped back after being scratched.
Why did he sign up for this again?

Falling on top of it, she moved to claw at it's face with her nails. But the monster bucked and toss her off of it. Mei rolled along the ground to her feet, wiping her mouth on the back of her hand.
The taste of dirt wasn't a pleasant one.
