Murphy could hear Kasar panting softly behind him, his version of laughing, and as the dancer spoke to him his face turned bright red in embarrassment. He was glad she only spoke to him shortly: he wasn't really one for talking, especially to those of higher class than he, and he could only assume she was of much higher standing than he. No one that poised and graceful could be lower than he.
"I will," he said in reply to her wish, and bobbed his head in a little bow as she moved off. He turned to look at Kasar who was still 'laughing', which made Murphy scowl. Enjoying yourself? he asked his companion, who nodded his large head.
Immensely. You're so funny when you turn red! I'm sure some of the ladies will find it endearing.
Murphy just waved a hand at Kasar to get him to stop, and the Hound continued to 'chuckle' at him, the laughter echoing in his head, the panting in his ears. He returned to the edge of the group in time to find one of the young ladies confronting a Houndless young man about his questions. He remained silent, content to watch, even as Kasar moved a bit closer to the Hound with the young lady who was asking the other man questions.
Kasar...you're going to get us in trouble, Murphy warned, but all he got in reply was a little swish of Kasar's two tails. The Hound was interested in meeting others of his kind, not having seen any on this plane before. He had only been here a few months, of course, so he hadn't been away from 'home' for terribly long, but seeing new Hounds was always exciting to him.

Delcan and Frederick walked up to the festivities that were being held. The sound of music lighten the air around them.
Delcan sighed in content and yet, when he looked at Frederick he can't help but worry.
Frederick still had his armor on, even though they were off duty tonight. Yet he was so nervous he looked like he was glowering.
Two women scampered off to the opposite direction, away from them, when they took one look at Frederick.
Erebus, Delcan's hound, sighed in relief when Garmr, Frederick's hound, whimpered at the lost.
Delcan sighed even louder and gripped Frederick's shoulder. "Look man! You gotta lighten up!"
Frederick stiffen up even more and Delcan understood. He never liked crowds much less people.
But....ever since Frederick came back with 3 claw marks down his left side of his face and body, a hound pup in his big arms, he said he would change. Now is a perfect time.
"Look.," Delcan leaned in to whisper in his ear. "You wanted to change, now is never a better chance."
"What are you two whispering about?"
Delcan jumped in surprise and so did Erebus, which mean only one person could do such a thing and get the surprise from his hound.
Diana came up from behind Delcan and Frederick with those long skirt of her's and tunic. As well as her signature head scarf to hold back those long midnight curling locks. She hand tan skin as if she were born from the earth herself. Yet it's those blue eyes that seem to shift color in the light.
A far cry from Delcan's and Frederick's tawny skin and Delcan's blonde and Frederick's brown hair.
Tonight they held a blank look, as if she were aloof. Her hound Selini was beside her. White as the moonlight and a mask full of flowers and....is that a living butterfly?
As well, there hounds are a far cry from Selini. Erebus had green eyes and black fur with shimmering green. Garmr is like a vortex. Black swirling patterns over that bright orange coat and glowing eyes. He wagged his tail in happiness while Erebus glowered at her.
Delcan smiled weakly at Diana. "H-hey Diana. What are you doing here?"
Even though Diana seemed normal...there is something odd about her. "I'm here for the festival of course. And with you two here, I assume you are too."
Delcan looked at Frederick. He had lowered his head and turned it towards the side. Frederick is extremely shy around women. Especially ones he liked.
"Yeah. We are," he replied.

A wealthy-looking old man lingered at the edge of the festivities, watching through a demon-faced mask with a pair of spectacles placed over the eyes. He held a cane in one hand and a smoking pipe in the other, every so often puffing a few clouds of smoke as he held to pipe to his lips. A yellow-gold gaze observed the people and events through the eye holes of the mask, the light of the moon glinting off the glass spectacles with an almost sinister look. Nevermind that the sight of a demon with glasses had its own humor.
While puffing his pipe, the stocky man used his cane to support him as he wandered in a little further into the throng of people, not seeming to care if he brushed past someone or happened to shove them a little too roughly. Every so often he would pause to regard one of several large dogs that appeared to have accompanied a handful of party-goers. Who in Canis had allowed such creatures to walk among the other guests so casually? They didn't even appear to have collars, much less leashes.

Avlur stopped his breathing for a second when the question was asked. He knew it was going to happen, in the back of his head no matter how far back he pushed it he knew this question would in fact appear in this conversation. This time though he needed to make a decision, does he speak the truth or speak lies and be branded a lair and un-trust worthy. His adventure with Assan had just begun. This wasn't easy for him, saying these words could make him look like a fool. He took a deep breath and calmly let it out in a soft slow push.
"Because i'm not interested in your dog, nor the rest of the groups dogs. I'm interested in your hounds." Avlur said opening a book marked page in his Mythological history book. On the page was pictures of different hounds, some with no tails, others with one or more. Even some with wings that seemed to be able to fly. He brought the book up to where everyone in the circle can see. He held it there and showed no sign of letting it drop down.
"This book has only pictures of these creatures, along with only a few paragraphs of knowledge that may or may not be true." Avlur spoke his voice getting a bit whispery. "It talks about how these creatures once helped our people long ago when bad things were happening." He continued. "The fact I may be seeing these creatures right now in front of me can only mean one thing. These hounds are back, and for a reason we may not all know.". He stated with a serious voice and a dead stare at the group. He waited to see what they would say. He had not mention him being a summoner as well or of his own hound. This of course was a technical way for him to tell the truth, yet keep himself still a secret. He knew they would find out soon enough, but he didn't want them to know till he knew they were also summoners them selfs.

Without the crackling of fire to drown out the man's words, the demon-masked elder could overhear what he said once he stepped close enough. There were enough other people surrounding the man with the book for them to overlook yet another joining their numbers, even if he didn't have a dog himself, as all of them seemed to. Or, if this man was suggesting what he seemed to be, Hell Hounds.
Under his mask, the old man scoffed quietly to himself. He frowned at the book which was magnified in his poor sight by his spectacles. Just what they needed...young people looking into magic and stories. Who knew what kind of mischief they could end up getting themselves into? Magic itself was dangerous enough, but Hounds...? The idea was unspeakable. Taking a step back, the gentleman looked around in an attempt to locate the dancer from earlier.
He wasn't terribly fond of seeking out interaction with other people, but she, possibly, could have made his trip to the city and this disgusting cluster of gluttonous, filthy, stinking, lazy, hedonistic capital-dwellers worth his time. He just wanted to get away from them as soon as he possibly could and back to the familiar, silent atmosphere of estate he called his home.

Amriela frowned, she felt bad for snapping at Avlur like that but she couldn't help it, her curiosity got the best of her. She apologized and smiled. She listened intently as he talked, how on earth did he know this was a hound, and why out of all things was he interested in them.
"Hound..." She paused, hesitating the next thing she was preparing to say. "What do you mean hounds?" She laughed nervously. It was then he pulled out a book, she couldn't read the title but it felt like she had seen it before, sometime long ago, it was almost like a dream now.
She looked at the book, there were pictures, drawings of what hounds were. Some of the pictures seemed to depict the hounds to be evil which was not the case, at least not with Amriela and Aku.
She broke her gaze from the book to look at Avlur. "Can I talk to you privately Avlur?" She asked the towering man.

Tory watched as the people moved and danced. She refocused on the ground but a man in a demon mask caught her attention. She watched him out of the corner of her eye unsure about him. She saw the intent look he gave Avlur and wondered why that was. Lasrial watched the guy closely for her. Seeing when he moved away to go and look for something. The dancer she assumed. Tory focused on what Avlur said and didn't say. He knew more there was more. Lasrial took a deep breath and looked at Avlur.
She looked at Tory. "He smells like he has been around a hound before. He has that scent. He knows more than he is saying Tory. Be wary i don't know why he is concealing this fact."
Tory nodded to Lasrial. She thought back. "I understand thanks. Lets see what happens if I am direct about it."
She looked at the book he held and the pictures it contained. The way his voice changed showed how important all of this was to him. She listened and watched his face. She heard the other girl and the nervousness. She looked at Avlur. "Avlur you know more than you are saying. What is it you are hiding? You aren't so apart from these hounds as you try to show. You have been around one before. Are you with a hound or do you know another with hounds like these. What is it you are hiding? You have that look people get when they are hiding something." She figure be direct to get the answers she wanted. Lasrial stayed very close to her as she spoke.

Upon turning from the group of huddled young women and man, the demon-masked stranger felt a pair of eyes on him. He couldn't tell who it might have been until saw the mutt turn its attention back on the guy with the book. The mouth under the mask contorted into a crooked smile. So, he hadn't gone completely unnoticed.
"And just what is that look people get when they are hiding something?" he questioned Tory, turning back around to address the group. Removing his mask, he held it between his thumb and forefinger as he placed both hands atop his cane in front of him. The fingertips of his other hand nimbly grasped his still-smoking pipe. A spiky beard jutted from his heavy jawline, his yellow-gold eyes intense as they inspected each dog and owner there. His face was creased with age, a place worn between his eyes where his brows had often furrowed. He now rested his spectacles upon that well-worn spot once more.
"Because from where I stand, the whole lot of you seem rather suspicious." He nodded toward the book. "All this talk of Hounds and history...just what makes you believe this young man isn't simply in the pursuit of knowledge?"

Avlur nodded to Amriela about talking to her privately and began getting ready to move away from the crowd. That was until Tory had spoken up, he listen as everything he was hoping not to happen was indeed coming true. He listen to her with full attention. He waited till she was done and took another breath. He could tell it was coming to the point he may need to relieve Assan in order to get them to admitting they did have hounds. This did raise the question again though, if these were just regular dogs what would happen to him. Avlur feared if he told them he had a hound, others in the capitol would think possibly he was the one who brought them back along with demons. That is if everyone or anyone in the capitol remembered how the lore went.
Avlur was about to speak until a man he had not notice till now came in to the group and saved him in a way he did not know. The man asked the Tory about how it could be quite possible for me to just be wanting to learn. This made Avlurs hearts return to normal, once again he can continue this conversation with out reviling himself and causing problems. He just kept thinking how he needs to keep his story straight with out truly lying. He focused back on to Tory, Amriela and the man. It was his turn to watch these people talk and figure his next few moves.

Brienne, as is often her custom when many people get to talking at once, had simply allowed herself to go unnoticed as she took in the multitude of new voices. Just where had all these people suddenly come from, anyway? According to Ithiliel, a few of them even had hounds with them.
This is too much, Ithil, I'm beginning to get a headache! Just who are all these people anyway? Have there always been so many other summoners, or is it just the festival that's drawn them here? I don't like all the questions this Avlur person is asking either and -- oh?
I said he has the scent of a hound to him. My guess is he's also a summoner, or else knows someone who is. Though why he's concealing this fact... I can't guess. Be wary, Brienne. It may not have been a good idea to come here, after all.
Just then, a new figure joins the group. Brienne can tell he is older by the tone in his voice, and her hound confirms this fact. This one, however, does not carry the scent of the hounds and she realizes how right the man is. A group of people huddled about together with large 'dogs' is bound to seem a bit strange.
"I must agree with the gentleman, in this case," her tone is a little amused. "We seem to have drawn some attention to ourselves, unintended as that may have been.... Besides, I certainly didn't come to the festival to be questioned to death." Ithil looks at Avlur at this last bit, her gold eyes intense. "I came to dance!" She laughs, a smile stretching her face.
"So, which one of you is going to join me?"

Raising his brows at the young lady who spoke up, the old man was surprised that she of all the others was the first. It didn't take much observation on his part to notice she was blind, however, and her suggestion caused him to chuckle. "Came to dance, did you?" he repeated with mild amusement. "Is that wise, girl, with so many people about and so many...obstacles in the way?"
If there was one thing he knew, it was that he wouldn't be dancing. His ancient bones could hardly carry him from place to place at a steady walk, let alone skip, jump, and twirl. Still, the light-hearted, innocent-seeming suggestion was a good one, he thought, especially if her aim had been to break up the previously increasing tension that emanated from the group.

Brienne laughs softly. The old man may be a bit grumpy, but there was something endearing about him, none the less. She'd always been a fairly good judge of character - had to be when she'd had such a..disadvantage. "You don't need to be able to see to dance, old man. You just feel the music. Besides, having a partner helps immensely, wouldn't you agree?"
Certainly someone would step up to the plate.

Avlur took this moment as a way to slip away from the group, He knew that staying any longer would mean nothing more then trouble. This maybe the only time he had and possibly the last to get away. He walked toward Brienne after speaking about being questioned to death.
"You are right and I am sorry for questioning you so much, to show you my respect for your answers and for wasting your time I would love to have this dance with you." Avlur said holding his hand out, but then acting awkward put it back down forgetting the about her blindness.
He waited for her response hoping for the answer to be a yes. He would hope to have the chance to talk to her one on one. Not for questions this time but to merely make her acquaintance the right way. He heard how the older man made it clear that he would not be dancing. It was quite odd how the old man walked in just in time to save Avlur from having to spill everything. This of course was only one feeling, Avlur felt by dancing with Brienne it would not fully take him away from the group but merely buy him time. He waited for the answer.

Now this is something she hadn't expected! She turns in the direction of Avlur's voice, and pauses for a moment before answering. She's not sure how sincere his apology is, or what his motives may be, but it would be rude to say no seeing as how she'd made the open proposition. Besides, Ithil could always bite him if he annoyed her too much.
"...Very well," she holds out her own hand and waits for him to take it and lead her to the floor. Ithil stays where she is, with the group, and settles down to lay her head on her paws, watching them for a moment before closing her eyes.
"So, you said you lived near the forest? Have you ever seen any strange beasts there? I hear that odd creatures can sometimes be seen in the woods though, of course, those are merely legends."

"Hrmh," he grunted in response to the lady's reference of him being old. His crooked smirk remained, however, not that she could see. He liked the girl's spirit; the fact that she wouldn't let a disability such as blindness hold her back. It reminded him a little of his past and people close to him. "I suppose," he conceded grudgingly, though the idea of having any sort of partner at his age after the death of his wife only made him feel bitter.
Almost instinctively, the word 'partner' drew his attention to Ithiliel out the corner of his eye, having noticed the creature's loyalty to its human. Partner, huh? There was no way, he felt, that anyone could take his late wife's place by his side, least of all a mere beast. Tiring of being on his feet, he found a nearby chair and claimed it as his own, collapsing into its supportive comfort.
Glad to see that someone had taken up the girl's offer, the elder fellow leaned back in the chair, resting his cane against its leg. "Be sure to take care she doesn't crash into anything," he called to the tall man. "I imagine music isn't as tangible for feeling as solid objects." There was something of a warning in his undertones; something that spoke deeper than just his words. If anything happens to her, I'll hold you personally responsible. He may have defended the fellow, but he wouldn't have hesitated to turn on him in an instant if he caused the young lady any trouble.
