But the phenomena of gaming addictions isn't well enough accepted that people seek, or even acknowledge that help is needed for it.

i googled video game addiction and got some interesting results
here's a trio of links that proved interesting.

http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/neuro02/web2/mschlimme.html

http://www.computeraddiction.com/

http://multimedia.design.curtin.edu/cache/g/0002/

what suprises me is how old some of these works are. one was published in 1999. he talks about Multi User Dungeons. hillarious.

I've been letting a freind of mine, whom had been borowing Final Fantasy Tactics for quite some time, finaly returned the game to me.

Gods, how i love that game.

My spring break looks like this.

Get up
Play tactics
eat lunch
hang with freinds
eat supper
Play WoW until i fall asleep at the keyboard.

sweet, sweet springbreak.

Im pretty much a console-only RPGer. Things like FF and Chrono Trigger are my games. One I feel never got the credit it deserved though, was Legend of Dragoon. I could go on for pages on why it was awesome, but just buy it, its easier to beat all 4 discs than to listen to me. I've only played one or 2 MMORPGs, but I wouldnt mind playing more, but im afraid I'd lose all contact with the outside world. Havent played anything like D&D before, but I would like to.

eek I KNOW!! OMG. Legend of Dragoon... heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart

My copy was defective, it froze at the same spot on the second disk everytime i played it crying
I played mine for about 2 hours then just never did again. Heh.

I had the demo on a disc and played it about 60-gillion times, then scrounged up the cash to get it. I'd say the biggest things that caught me were simply changing into a bad-a** dragoon of course! And yea, the interactive fighting. Creating and performing the combo on your own was a big move in an RPG, and needs to be more present in others. Anyone can play FF and hit attack all day and throw in a magic move once in a while, but to pull off the combo on your own was sweet.

I played the demo at a freind's birthday party overnight gig after everyone else had fallen asleep. I was spellbound. Take note, this was before i owned anykind of console at all. This demo was the first game of its kind i had played. Ahhhhh, i wish i could get that excited about a game nowadays.

I had completely forgoten about that till just now. xp

Heh heh. Yeeeah. Agreeance on the combo stuff and the not getting excited about the game part. I don't think it's being new to consoles at all. I just think there was some magic videogame mojo about Legend of Dragoon, because I've played other RPGs, before and after that point, and have never been so spellbound myself. For that matter, it is the only role playing game I have ever completed. I think part of it was that I actually felt some sympathy for the characters. And it wasn't predictable. There was intrigue. For pete's sake, one of your buds dies on the first disk. That told you right there you didn't know what was going to be around the next corner. Coz seriously, how many deaths do they actually have in most RPGs? Little to none? I also liked the new spin on the whole apocolyptic thing. I mean you always have to save the world, but how many times do you have to save the world and get to give it a new beginning at the same time? That was the best. And you know it's a good game when people go nuts over it, and the movies are Godzilla-dubbed. Heh heh.

Well, go get it! It's a PSOne Game, it should be pretty cheap. Don't let that fact fool you, though- it was being made as a PSOne game right when PS2 was coming out, so it's not all oldschool looking like FFV7. More like... FF9. Pretty damn good.

You HAD to remind me of his death didnt you, you just HAD to! :cries: He was the coolest character ever, Albert was such a f**. Sorry, but I just didnt like Albert at all, and I just sucked at doing his combos, the rhythm of it changed and messed with me so damned much. Did you get GustofWindDance combo before he died? Alberts is cool, but his was soooo sweeeeeeet. (using the word he as not to give away the name of the death-person)

I must say, I was obsessed with the other GTA games, 1-4, but when SA came out I really wasnt driven to get it. I've not a clue why, I still play some of the others occasionally, mostly2, before they went all big-graphicy and stuff. But back on topic, this one never appealed to me. Never having played the game, im not going to bash it, but yea, I have no attachment to it.
