... and burst through as if they weren't even there. The buck stumbled down into the murky water beyond, nearly losing his footing. It was only with the splash of water on his face that he tried to stop and think. Then there came the nipping at his hooves and the flash of silver. His rage returned and he struck. He only stopped when he reached a jutting branch, stopping to catch his breath and spying a strand of hair caught in the twigs. Long and silver, it teased him as it moved in the gentle breeze. Killing Moon continued but the slop seemed made of grit and mud and he could find no purchase. He bellowed in frustration, slamming a hoof down and nearly losing his balance entirely. Another branch and another clue, this time a tuft of pale fur. He sniffed it, finding the scent oddly familiar, and then continued on, pulling himself up and over the edge of the ravine. The buck didn't bother catching his breath, he just moved forward. When the boar arrived, he was ready. Rearing back on his hind legs, he attempted to slam his hooves down on it as it charged. He gave a grunt of pain as the boar nearly rammed him off his feet. They struggled together, each unable to get a solid hit in. Then with a powerful shove, Killing Moon tossed the boar off balance and moved in for a second strike. Only to have his kick deflected off the boars tusks. It charged forward, knocking him straight over onto his side. He hit the ground, the breath whistling out from his lungs. The boar fell, collapsing on top of him. The Killing Moon shoved it off and rolled to his hooves, then stood panting. A quick check off his wounds left him with a grim smile. The bar had taken a lot out of him. But there was still a murderer to find and punish. Even if it killed him, he would find the one responsible for his brothers death.
