For a moment, Hijil wondered if it was a nightmare and she was merely unconscious and feverish again. She tried to keep the sudden surge of panic and homesickness from her face. She had to stay neutral, she had to stay calm. She couldn't let him know what she had done. Even if the village was not after her to pay for her crimes, she couldn't risk it- not because she was evading the law, but because evading it was all she deserved.
She took a deep breath, steadying herself.
"Nowhere... in particular." she lied, her mind trying to race despite the fatigue.

He saw the flash of emotions across her face. "Well if you don't like Ast I can get supplies from there and at least we can eat better and blankets and bandages and perhaps some ointment too. Smells better then the stuff I made."

"Ah a wanderer then. A fine profession. I might have done so too but alas my collections are too cumbersome for fast or long travel."

"Allright..." said Hijil, uneasy, especially so because he had noticed her feelings on the matter. Perhaps solitude had made her easier to read- her mother certainly had never known her feelings on most things. Only one person had been able to read Hijil before, and she was in the past.
She was quiet until his return. Thoughfully, she tried to move- she was still weak, too weak for an escape, not if she wanted any hope of surviving. She managed to move a little, stretching in the limbs of the tree, but that only reinforced her assessment- not yet. Even that motion made her feel lightheaded and dizzy. She returned to her roost and engulfed herself with blankets, suddenly taken by the chills. As she warmed herself up and let the Jahuar heat permeate her body once more, she thought about what he said. Wanderer... a profession... She had never thought of it as anything but a necessity.
"... Not by choice." she said suddenly No, not by her choice at all did she wander.

"You know you can't expect me not to ask when you keep dropping little clues like that, its like a trail of mushrooms leading to the main pack. I know you have secrets, and I respect that. But if you don't want to tell. Try not to torture me with the unknown." He grinned. "Tomorrow I will make a quick run to Ast for medicine and blankets. I don't have to tell them if you don't want me too. I will need advice from my parents but I will do it discretely."

She was being cryptic, wasn't she. Why was she? Did she WANT him to find out? Did she want anybody to find out?
No, she was being stupid. She was teasing and that was foolish.
She bowed her head apologetically and bit back her words. Why was she talking so much? She just... wanted to talk to him. How long had she spent with only the trees for company? She hadn't been that alone- the tournament counted, surely?
"All right." she said, frustrated.
She wasn't sure how she felt about this chatty-feeling. She would have to escape, and soon, before her life was laid bare.

"You look stressed, there is no need to be. I won't let them know, your secrets are safe with you, and you need some more rest most likely. It will be easier with the real blankets not the reeds. I'll change the poultice and let you sleep."

He gathered the stuff needed for the new poultice and processed the plants that needed to be a paste to smear on the wounds. He winced. "I know it hurts, but even I can't save you if you get infected."

He inspected the wound after he had gently pulled off the previous poultice. "These herbs are strong, it looks like they are doing a good job of preventing infection along with your body. You are a strong woman Hijil if you weren't I don't think you would have made it." He chattered on as he smeared new goop on her poor wounds. Then he took the bundle of herbs and fixed them to her side to seal it. "There, all done. How is the pain?"

"The pain is fine..." she said, distracted. She trusted him not tell anybody about her- he seemed like a fine young man who would keep his word. She wasn't lying, of course, her pain was fine. She had felt worse. Even the pulling away of the bandages and the reapplication of the stinging, smelling goop, didn't cause her to cry out, though she did tense as the antiseptic poultice burned like fire in her wound. It had hurt more before, when the claws had torn through the flesh in the first place. Life hurt, and this was nothing.
Yes, she was strong. That was what had ruined her life in the first place- her strength. Of body anyway, not of will. She trusted Sauron to not betray her but she did not trust herself not to do the same. She was a traitor, to her mother and to herself. She could not give away too much, but the urge to tell him was too strong. She was tired, though... Perhaps when she awoke she could try to escape and thus free this kind soul of the burden of caring for her...

Sauron wondered if she would ever tell him. It was of course all right if she didn't but he could see that it tortured her to carry the burden of memories that came with it. It must be serious, and yet she seemed so sweet, he couldn't understand what it could possibly be.

She looked so tired, poor thing. He sighed and settled down for a short nap as well, after that he would make a fast run to the village. He needed blankets and more medicine and perhaps some different food for her. And people would see him and not be so worried about him since he had been in the bush for a while.

Sauron woke to find Hijil gone. His face drooped but, if she was strong enough to escape then perhaps she would be okay. He jumped down and upon finding no blood, he ascertained that her wound was sealed and she hopefully would reach wherever she was going. He wished her good luck then returned home to stuff his face with food blissfully.
