Sherry shifted, turning towards him and putting her hands on his shoulder. But she found that a little awkward, so she decided to just go all in. Jake would probably feel the bed move as she leaned on him for a moment, climbing to her knees and shifting behind him on the bed.

She had one hand on each shoulder before she bothered to ask, "Is this ok?"

He flushed as he felt her getting onto the bed, but relaxed as her hands settled on his shoulders.
"Y-yah, that's fine."

She squeezed the top of his shoulders, then let her fingers run down his back, similar to before. "You'd tell me if it wasn't, right?"

He hadn't noticed how stiff his shoulders were until she squeezed them, and he shivered when her fingers trailed down his back.
"Y-yah."

Her hands went back up, and Sherry set in on a basic shoulder rub, even if she was a little hesitant.

"You, um, up for another spar tomorrow?" The silence was a tiny bit awkward. Maybe. She wasn't really sure, so she'd tried to fill it just in case.

Sensing her hesitation, he lifted his hand, placing it over hers as she settled back on his shoulders.

"Another spar sounds good."
He paused.
"....Sorry, this probably wasn't your intention for coming here, and I know I shouldn't ask you for something like this when you're feeling down. You don't have to do this anymore."

She went still, her hands staying where they were. "You didn't ask. I offered."

Her thumbs pressed into the back of his shoulders. "I came here to make sure you were alright. You don't usually lay on the ground like that after our spars." It was true. "I want to do this."

She stopped squeezing again. "But...I can stop."

Truth be told, a shoulder massage felt incredible, but it wasn't fair for him to ask this of her, not after all she went through.

"Sherry, I told you. I'm fine."
He sighed.
"Are you... sure you really want this? Not the backrub, I mean. I... I know I said I'd like to try starting over, and I'm not planning on taking it back now, but... are you sure this is what you really want? I can see it's hurting you, and... even if we start over, there's those past memories of you I'll never remember. There'll always be that gap, and..."
He lowered his hand.
"And if I ever remember why I ended up forgetting you, you... might not like the reason. I can't promise that I won't hurt you again, and I can see I'm already causing you so much pain. Are you sure... you won't be better off with someone else?"

Her nervousness and her questions came back, and they hit like a ton of bricks. "I... I'm scared." She sat back on her heels, her eyes focused at nothing on his back. "I think maybe I have too much invested in this. I don't know." Oh great, she was going to cry again.

"I'm sad you might never remember me, but I'm terrified you will remember, and that you'll remember why you forgot. I'm scared you'll agree with your past self that it was the best idea. I'm scared you'll just plain decide that you don't want me again." She swallowed, and her hands left his shoulders to rest in her lap.

"But all I want right now is you. You're still you, even if you don't remember me or your birthday or whatever. I still like you." She exhaled deeply. "Like I said earlier. I don't want anyone else. I just.... I'm still sad. I don't want to go be alone, but I don't want to bother you and..." She gave a little laugh. "I shouldn't be complaining. You're probably feeling more lost than I am."

Moving slowly, she shifted and slid off the bed onto her feet. She should probably go.

His heart fell when he heard her words, but, well, it made sense. He almost let out a bitter laugh, seeing how quickly it had ended. They hadn't even been dating for a day, or perhaps, it had been a day, but only to him. For her... he had no idea how long they had known each other, but surely long enough. And now she finally had enough.

"I..."
He couldn't promise her anything. Not now. Though he wanted to tell her if he did remember, he would make sure to tell her this time, and not make decisions on his own, but... would she really find happiness with him? Even now, it seemed everything was already falling apart. She seemed so hesitant, and... was it really right for him to keep her when she was so broken?

He only watched as she slid off the bed and turned around, so he wouldn't see her anymore. Though he didn't remember the past Sherry, he knew the Sherry now, and he liked her company, but if she truly felt this way...

"If you really wanted to stay, I don't see why you have to go. I'm not telling you to go, and I don't want you to go. But perhaps you're right. Perhaps if I remember, I might decide it was for the best. Perhaps I wouldn't want us to be together, and it doesn't seem like you'd do anything to change that."

He knew it wasn't fair for him to say this, as he didn't understand the pain she had went through, but he was angry. Frustrated. He was giving it a second chance, was he not? He was willing to try again. So why was she bringing up the past, and making this all the more difficult?

"I don't understand you anymore. You say you want me, yet you don't want to bother me. You say you don't want anyone else, yet you're so eager to leave. If you're so indecisive, then go. And please don't come back. I don't want to try something that I know won't work out, and I don't want to be with someone with such a weak resolve. Just go. Please."

She didn't move. She listened, and when he was done she still didn't move. On one hand, she was happy. He'd said things she found reassuring and that she'd wanted to hear. On the other hand, he'd said things that hurt.

"I don't want to leave," she said.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 23, 2013 12:22 am

"I said LEAVE!"
He grit his teeth, fingers digging into the covers.
"I don't WANT you here. I don't need someone who's so fickle, who says one thing but means the other, who-"

They betrayed him. They said they would help him, protect him, keep him safe from the others, and yet, who was it they were protecting him from?

"I... I don't..."

He was tired of running, tired of being used.

"You're just..."

All he needed was himself. He was the only one he could rely on, and no one else.

His eyes widened, as he clutched his head, trying to force the memories out of his mind. But no, it made so much sense. They were laughing at him, mocking him. They lied to him, told him they would be there for him, but in the end, they were the ones who he feared. They had tricked him, used him. All of them were liars. They just wanted his power, wanted what they didn't have, and she wasn't any different. She was just like them. She was exactly the same. That was why he forgot her, because he knew. She was just using him, stringing him along, and he had been a fool, thinking she had meant it when she said she cared for him, that she had feelings for him. She was trying to get his guard down, and she had succeeded. But no. Now he knew.

He was glaring at her now. Seething.
"You can drop the lies now. I've seen through it all. I know why I forgot. If you think you're going to fool me again, you're sadly mistaken."
His eyes flitted over to his table, where the runics lay. Though she had the upper hand, he would fight. He wouldn't let himself be tricked again. He would rather die.

She flinched when he yelled. She was sorry. She hadn't meant to be fickle and she certainly hadn't meant to --

She stared at him. Fool him? "Seen through what? Why- why did you forget?"

He wouldn't back down anymore. He wouldn't lose.

With a growl, he lunged forward, pushing her to the ground.

He would fight back.

His hand went to his sash, pulling out his artifact.

They had taken everything, and yet, he was still forced to live. Forced to live this empty hollow life.

"What do you WANT from me? You've taken everything already. Everything that I once held dear is gone, thanks to YOU, so what more do you want? What more? TELL ME!"

She hadn't expected that, and she was suddenly reminded of how hard it was to breath when someone knocked the wind out of you.

"I don't understand." It took a lot more effort than it should have to force the words out.
