He didn't quite know how to interpret that, so he decided--as he usually did--not to think about it.

He pulled up his hood and gathered up the remnants of his meal, stuffing the packet of "bread" into his pocket for later, with the matches, and shot her another look before he left.

But, unsurprisingly, he didn't say goodbye. Just slunk out, dropping off his garbage. The sound of his whistling resuming as he vanished down the dark hallway was the last thing he left.
