"You like to clean?" She chuckled and set a dishrag with her plate before him. "Would you like to clean my apartment?" She only meant it with a tiny, bit of seriousness. Well?! He liked to, and she had other tasks! Like Tetris! And homework! Yeah! "What a house cat you are! It's fascinating."
He didn't answer her question. Strange. Maybe he didn't know any? Were there any left? Maybe just another poke to see how much he knew...A gentle poke! To ease him into discussion?
"How many of us have you met, my dear?" She studied his eyes so deep and full of green. "Maybe you've even fought alongside us?"

"Is... something wrong with that?" He said in a low whimper as he lowered his head. Chin pressing against the cool counter in between two paws, his head didn't lift from the lower position as he looked at her upon her question regarding cleaning the apartment. He would have done it. He would have loved to be of help to her. She didn't sound serious though. She didn't sound happy. He had displeased her, hadn't he?
"Fascinating?" His voice sounded distant as if he was unable to recognize the word. It took a moment to click in but he was not sure if he was happy or not. Was fascinating good or bad? He didn't know and when her next question arose he was still a little down. His green eyes looked dimmer than usual and he sighed a bit.
"Us? Fight? Fighting is a terrible idea. Someone will get hurt."
Yeah, makes sense.

Ruthie shook her head.
"Of course not, sweetie." She grabbed a wafer from the box in the cupboard above he sink. She handed one to him. "I'm sorry it came off that way. I just don't know many talking cats, so I'm deeply interested in all that you are." She chewed on the wafer. "Have you...seen a Senshi before?" Maybe if he saw her in her combat-ready armor, he would reconsider the dangers of fighting. "We can be very powerful."
She nodded.
Hopefully Thetis would believe her, but if not, she could take him on a patrol, find a low-level youma and beat it up, and hopefully not cry.

Thetis remained in silence, looking at the wafer with mild interest. He seemed to be thinking, although whether it was more toward the wafer or her questions was debatable. He swatted his paw at it with concern, watching as his paw moved it into the air half an inch. Has he seen senshi before? What a strange question! Of course he had seen senshi before. Not just normal senshi but chibi senshi too! He'd also seen Negaverse Generals that didn't seem very fond of cats.
"Something terrible will happen," he said in a very horrified whisper.
This wasn't an issue of whether he thought they were powerful or not. Something terrible would happen.

"Thetissss~" She laughed. She picked him up and spun around. "Nothing terrible will happen!" She scratched behind his ear. "I'm suuuper powerful. I promise." She started for the couch. "Enchantment, right? Talk about a powerful sphere! In Beauty and the Beast, the Enchantress turned everyone into furniture!" She nodded as she sat. She set him beside her. "Just imagine that, but a thousand times better!"
She allowed him a moment to think.
"Nothing bad will ever happen to you when I'm Sailor Medea. I promise."
Not with him around anyway. She would protect him. Keep him safe. He would never fear with her around.

Thetis had doubts.
Everything that could ever go wrong would definitely happen.
Definitely.
However, it wasn't that he was worried about something bad happening to him so much as he was something bad happening to her. Of course, he definitely didn't want something bad to happen to him either! This was why some times he simply didn't leave the house and why sometimes he hid under the bed when it thundered out. Sometimes this was why he hid in the pots under the cabinet. Safe places, all very safe places.
Ruthie, nor Medea, could fit in a pot though. It was such a shame.
"You can't promise that," he whined, rolling over the length of the counter rather dramatically.

Ruthe cradled Thetis and chuckled. "Sweetie." She scratched behind his ear, returning to the sofa. "All will be okay." She smirked, setting him gently on the cushions beside her. She sprawled out--careful not to hit him. "I'm really great at keeping promises, and I assure you that nothing bad would ever happen to me." She nodded fervently. "If something happened to me, then how could I protect you?"
She rolled onto her back.
"You're very dear to me Thetis." She smiled. She couldn't let him down. It would kill her. "I'll do everything I can to protect you." She laughed. "What would make you feel safe?" She stared deep into those majestic green eyes of majesty. Tell her precious one, so she could help.

Thetis smooshed his face right into the cushions, his ears twitching as Ruthie spoke.
"Never leave the house. It is not safe outside," he muttered into the cushion.

She snickered--not quite sure if he joked. "Okayyy." She pressed her face to the cushion to meet his eye. "So we'll just stay here forever?" She scratched his ears. Comfortable Thetis? "It would be safe, but we have to nom, my lovely!"
She laughed and twisted her hair over her shoulder.
"Besides, don't you think we should expose ourselves to the world so we gain life experience and pay bills and things?" She smirked. "Nothing scary about paying taxes right?"

"Deeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaal," he said as he yawned, his jaw opening wide and snapping closed again.
"Forever then," he said, rubbing his head into her hand.
It was safe here and taxes were horrible. Addison's father always went on and on about them as if they were some terrible monster. What else was a cat to think?

Awww Thetis. You broke Ruthie's heart, but filled it with glee. She laughed as he rubbed his head against her hand and she scratched his back. Curly fur. Like her hair. Adorable. Matchy. "This could be our sanctuary!" She smiled. She rolled onto her side. "And my textbooks could teach us about the outside world!" Another laugh. She curled into a ball. "But what about school and Senshi life?"
There were so many bad people out there. Who would protect them?
Well.
It wasn't like she was a particularly good Senshi anyway.
"Ditch my responsibilities?"

There was a sense of hope on the horizon. Maybe he could save Ruthie!
"Online studies!" He exclaimed. He had the solution for everything.
"There are other senshi. You'll be safer in here!" He said rather meekly.
Maybe he wasn't the typical guardian cat telling a senshi to slack off but he had her best interests at heart. If she didn't put herself in harm's way then she would be safe!

She smiled, but she wondered. She lifted Thetis up. He only wanted her safety. Maybe he had a point. These youma and agents were...dangerous, though some agents seemed kind! Even as kind as Thetis!
"But Thetis--"
But Thetis, she almost died all the time. But Thetis she felt terrified to roam the streets. But Thetis she could barely use a map. But Thetis. But Thetis.
"I--" She sat up and cradled him in her arms. "--Hmm. I just--" She set him beside her. Thinking seriously now. "--Maybe not yet. I still want to see what's going on out there, but there may come a day--soon--when I power down." She laughed and squished his face between her palms. "Okay? Then I promise we'll be safe, and we can spend all day baking and watching TV."
She meant it. She just needed a bit more time.

But Thetis? Things were going downhill! He didn't want Ruthie to be upset with him for his constant whining about her staying inside and all this effort was making the small cat tired. He simply nodded his little head and flopped it against Ruthie's nice warm leg as he began to wiggle his way up it until he plopped onto her lap.
"Okay," he said with another yawn before his eyes closed tightly.

Ruthie scratched his ear as he shut his eyes. The precious creature of warmth and magic fell asleep on her lap. Her heart gushed and her eyes sparkled.
But then.
She realized she couldn't move without waking him. She chuckled and leaned her head back against the sofa. Maybe it wasn't the most comfortable way to sleep, but--
She dozed off.
Goodnight Thetis. Goodnight roses. Goodnight moon.
