Shiloh saw something sticking out from the snow and he swung down from Penny, going to investigate. He was thrilled to find it filled with more food and supplies, eagerly tucking it into his pack. Some other traveller must have dropped it... He sure hoped they were okay.

Shiloh shivered for a moment, looking out at the snowy scape in front of them. It was easy to get lost in one's thoughts and memories out here, and his tugged sadly at the corners of his mind. He blew gently on his gloved hands to warm them, trying to ignore his thoughts, and Penny surprised him by joining in, warming his hands with her breath as she nibbled at his fingers, then nuzzled him. Shiloh smiled, wrapping his arms suddenly around her fuzzy neck.
"You're a good girl, Penny, thank-you."

As he checked one last time to make sure their newfound food was secure, Shiloh slipped, and the wrapping unravelled, the food rolling out of it and into the snow.
"Shoot!"
He dug around in the snow for what had fallen, but when he picked up one of the apples, it squished rottenly in his hand. He picked up another, and some other fruits, and the result was all the same. He sighed, decided that perhaps finding the package hadn't been so lucky after all. It seemed like it had been there for some time... It was probably best that they got a move on.

He hummed a familiar tune, mumbling something that sounded a bit like 'On the road again" as he and Penny set out on the last legs of their journey. The setting was beautiful, the snowy mountains having gave way to lush greenery, in the midst of which stood a giant castle, looming tall and regal in the distance.
That was their destination, and Shiloh knew in his heart that someone waited to meet him there.

Shiloh stared hard at his map, wondering why the castle seemed to be getting farther away. Penny looked at him like he was an idiot, and took matters into her own hooves, jerking the reins from his hands and setting off back in the proper direction at a brisk trot.
Humans, she thought with a snort.

Shiloh was surprised at first, but it seemed like Penny had a better sense of direction than he did, even with a map. Grinning, he reached up and scratched behind her ears in a show of gratitude.
"Thanks Penny, you're really saving my butt out here."
The alpaca snorted, shaking her head, but the expression in her eyes were warm, even if she felt like her rider was a bit of an idiot.
