Zia's head hit the table face first, but her shoulders were still twitching in repressed laughter for several more seconds until she calmed down.
She lifted her head up with a gasp and sunk her chin into her hands. "He doesn't hate you. Noah is incapable of hate." Unless their name is Zia.
She shrugged and looked back at the kitchen door with a smirk. "I dunno, I guess." She still hated that Phina lady and her inappropriate pawing at him, but Zia saw Phina as a viable threat. Medea, in the meantime, not so much.
"He prefers girls closer to his age. Big dummy is thirty-eight, Medea."
She was pretty aware he wasn't about to accept what he saw as inappropriate affection from someone young enough to be his daughter. "His buddy is thirty if you wanna try that and you're into older men, but Marco goes home at five."
Noah did eventually come out of hiding, his tanned and scruffy face tinged with a very vague flush in embarrassment. "I forgot to ask if you wanted drinks."
And this was very important because he planned on sticking Zia with the bill. Like a good brother.

At least Zia stifled the laugh. Good courtesy on her end. Medea's faced reddened and she coughed. "I mean. It just seems like he's shy, you know?" She watched the table. "And I'm shy too, and sooooo bad with age. You have no idea." She liked to pretend it didn't matter, though she knew it did. After all, what would a 38 year-old even discuss with her? Not like they could bond over fighting demons or goth chicks or anything. "I'm mature."
She nodded emphatically.
"VERY mature. SO mature. No one's even reached this level of maturity." She pouted. "ESPECIALLY not Noaaaaah--"
Ugh he came back for the drink order. She sunk low low low into her seat.
"I uh--" Stare at the wall stare at the wall "What ever your oldest customers have, I'll have it too!"
She grinned.
Oh dear.
He would despise her for eternity, and Zee would tease her forever.

Noah's mouth pressed into a straight line and extended across his very flushed and embarrassed face while Zia's cheeks puffed out thanks to the way she was forcing her mouth shut and trying to to explode with laughter.
"I'm... I'm just... God, go back to talking about your dumb terrorist things," He said with an immature wave off as he walked away.
"Oh right, dumb terrorist things. You were being sad about corruption," Zia said, sounding like she was trying to regulate her breathing thanks to the intense laughing fit. "Did we talk about purification yet? That's the important bit."

"BAI NOAH." Medea waved. "I'm sorry! I think you're great!" Groaning, she slumped into her seat. He probably didn't believe her. Or hear her. He didn't believe her and he didn't hear her! Oh God. Oh God. She gave a nervous laugh. "Ummmm yessss."
She nodded.
"It was mentioned briefly." She studied Zee, wondering how it worked, what it meant. "But I'm still having trouble grasping what it is exactly?"

Zia's shoulders twitched a little with a quiet chuckle of a laugh as Medea waved and called after her brother.
She still had an amused smile on her face and laughter present in her voice, but the actual words she was saying didn't sound quite as good natured. "You're kind of annoying."
She rolled her neck as if to stretch it and poked at a knight's profile to bring it up.
"Purification is when a really big power source, usually someone with a royal crystal, zaps the Chaos out of a starseed, and reconnects them to their identity and homeworld and power source. Chaos kind of unplugs you from your homeworld and plugs you into it, so it takes away who you are. But if you know someone with a royal crystal, they can plug you back in and fix you! Right now there's a couple princess senshi around."

Medea frowned not the gentle, soft frown or the stern, commanding frown, but the edge-of-tears, whimpering child frown. "O-oh." She tried to smile, but it looked like a cringe. "O-okay. Thank you s'much." What else could she say? Perhaps she was annoying, in which case she thanked Zee for telling her. That seemed right. With glittering eyes, she studied the profile. She shook her head. "I'm sorry." She wiped the tears away. "It's silly, but sometimes--" Hypersensitivity, insecurity, unbearable shame got the better of her. "Anyway!"
She smiled.
"That's...really hopeful Zee!" She nodded. "Assuming we don't die in the process or anything?" Promise for Buddy at last! They could tear him away from Chaos and stuff his heart with light and purity! Awesome! Except...not awesome? Because then Buddy might not like her anymore, and that would make her sad. She frowned. Was it really the right thing to do?

"It's silly to act empty headed for a boy when you could be dead tomorrow," Zia interjected, the corners of her mouth twitching ever so slightly.
And then shook her head and shrugged. "I guess if they were really adamant about it not working, it's possible for them to die, but nope, it's usually a death free process when they make their own choices. Not for the mirror people, though."
Noah did his best to slink in and slide two baskets of burgers and fries on the table in front of them unnoticed. For he was burger ninja. Until Zia pointed him out with a, "Oh, food! Where's my soda, burger monkey?"
He frowned and flicked a stray fry at her. Apparently Zia's usual was a sloppy chili burger she got right to work disassembling and cramming fries onto.
"They don't have holes, I'm sure you've noticed. Because they were made by a senshi queen who had no senshi left. Basically there's a parasite soul that eats away the original, creating a half alive youma in the body that runs on chaos, but with all the memories of the original, so they're kind of like creepy a** dolls. Can't purify what's not there no more!"

”Uhh—whaa?” Medea gaped. She didn’t even notice the burgers, and she felt so hungry. She shook her head. ”But they’re innocent right? They don’t know that they’re being destroyed?” She bit into her cheeseburger. The cheese and crunchy onion melted together—hearty and strong—they brought out the warmth of the burger and she smiled. At least she could find solace in food. The Negaverse could never take that away from her.
She laughed and took another bite. ”Don’t take this the wrong way, Zee. I mean, I’m really appreciative of your help. I am. It’s just--” She swallowed. ”How can this information be delivered so lightly? People are being messed up in the soul, it sounds like.” She frowned. ”Is it really so ordinary? Maybe it’s the experience you have? I don’t know…”
She couldn’t shake that they were people too. People with families—with friends and jobs, who studied and sang and ate cheeseburgers.

"They think they're upgrading their original soul," Zia answered, standing up and pushing her monster of junk food on a bun into submission before wrapping it up in paper.
"There used to be a senshi queen from beyond the mirror who could take human hosts and bind souls to them to keep the new soul alive on this side of the mirror using that human as a physical body. Basically both minds would function in the body until they learned to coexist and fuse. Ares thinks she's doing that, but there's only one mind, and you can tell by their auras it's not the original."
After carefully wrapping her burger back up in the paper, she took a bite, and looked ponderous as she chewed and swallowed before talking again. "I guess I have plenty of experience with having my soul stolen," She said, still sounding light, but there was an edge of bitterness in her tone.
And for a brief moment, her eyes flashed yellow as she shifted forms to a cat eared girl in a black dress and purple overlay, and emitted a massive aura of purified mirror energy shifting back to plain old Zia in her jeans and hoodie.
"People get used to being used, I guess. Thanks for dinner!" She called out as she broke into a run out the door, burger in hand.
