Dakini was glad that she had a short mane and wasn't as weighed down by it as Audra was by hers. Her tail was heavier, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. She also found that her wings were rather useful for letting her glide across the water. She could only make herself go forward using them and she had to move them slowly, but it was fun. The demon mare swam after Audra, the grin not fading from her face. In the back of her mind, she wondered what she'd do if she actually caught the warrioress, but the rest was focused on the chase at hand.

A shot of alarm went through Dakini as the other mare suddenly went under, but calmed when she resurfaced. She followed Audra to the shallower water, chest heaving as she tried to get air into lungs that desperately wanted her to stop laughing so they could get sufficient oxygen. She smile as she came up beside Audra, gently nudging the wet locks of her mane out of her face.

Dakini took a step back, blinking slowly. Clearly the eyes were an insecurity, so she didn't attempt to brush the wet bangs away again. Even so, she couldn't keep herself from moving back to Audra's side. She flipped her wet mohawk to the other side of her neck so she could see the other female easier, inspecting her for a minute. She really was wonderful to be around. She was fun. She was strong. She was interesting. She was...

Dakini lightly nosed Audra's neck, inhaling her scent as she did so. The faint scent of fruit that had puzzled her in Roman's scent as a child was strong in the colorblind mare's. The scents of water, sweat, and fruit, mixed with the female's natural and surprisingly intoxicating scent. She exhaled across Audra's neck in the form of a sigh before she drew away. She doubted the mare felt the same way about Dakini that Dakini was discovering that she felt for Audra. The demoness wanted to whisk her away to the south, but there was no way she could make the warrior mare do so unwillingly. Despite her slight forwardness in her actions, Dakini was actually holding back. Audra was her first friend away from the family and Ruin's personal army; she wanted the friendship to last... if not develop into something else.

Dakini smiled, absently stretching her wing across her companion's back as she leaned back against her. "Hm? Yes, I just feel... different." She lightly burrowed her muzzle into Audra's mane, nosing along her neck again. "Can I steal you away?" she murmured, finding herself dreading the thought of prying herself from the other female's side in favor of returning home.

It was just a slight quiver of the voice, but to Dakini's perception, it was a 'No' slapping her in the face like Roman's wing sometimes did when she was too close. "Where?" she repeated innocently. "Wherever you'll let me whisk you away to," she replied almost suggestively with a playful n** to Audra's neck. She didn't move away, but she didn't move closer either. She wasn't going to press her luck, but the half-demon couldn't pull herself away either. Not yet. Not until she knew where they stood... Clearly not at the "stealing away" point, but clearly not traditional friends either. Or at least, she didn't think so.

Dakini nuzzled the mare, resisting the urge to sigh. It was a trait inherited from her father, sighing when she was upset or disappointed. "I know," she replied quietly, looking up at Audra with a slight smile. "Can't blame a mare for trying, though," she said, the smile widening into a confident grin. It was disappointing, but expected. They'd just met, after all...

Maybe... maybe she could come back. Slowly but surely win Audra over. It would be agonizing, being that patient, but Dakini wasn't sure she could let this go.

Dakini smiled, the gratitude enough to make her little heart melt. She sighed and nodded her understanding when Audra said she had to go. "I should too... my dad will fuss if I'm late." She reluctantly peeled herself away from the warrioress's side. She'd see the colorblind mare again. Dakini would make sure of that. But for now, they had to go to their respective places...

Dakini waited until Audra was out of sight before turning to head south. Her father and step-father were likely to question where she was, but she wasn't sure she'd be in a mood to answer them. They'd likely notice the strange behavior that she predicted she'd have in the other mare's absence. It probably wouldn't be much, so the parents might not notice; sometimes they were too absorbed in their chaotic little world to see anything else. But Roman would undoubtedly notice. Maybe she'd even break down and tell him if he swore secrecy. But these thoughts of possible reactions were just a vain distraction from what she wanted and what she wanted to do--run back and shower Audra with her affections until she agreed to come south with her. But she restrained herself despite the bitterness the choice to stay in control was causing her turbulent heart.

Someday, she thought, determined despite the depressing odds. Someday I'll come back and make her mine.
