Heidi took the three empanadas and put them on her lap, checking the labels before she picked one up again to take a bite out of it. She made a happy noise and wiggled slightly on Tuck's lap. These were so good! She swallowed her first bite and looked up at Tuck with a little smirk when he claimed to be a gentleman again. "Mm, no. Pretty sure I deemed you a barbarian like, weeks ago~. Gentlemen don't throw their girlfriends into lakes." Denied.
She looked proud of herself when Tuck said he was a happy man. She was happy when he was happy, because she loved him and wanted to give him everything he could ever want and more. "Do I get to know what my promise is?" It wouldn't break her heart too much if he told her no. Surprises were fun, and he did say she'd know when 'later' was. It made her curious. So curious.
"I like making you happy," Heidi said after finishing her first empanada, picking up another one to take a bite out of that. "But did it bother you I paid for these?" She didn't forget how he'd looked at her when she got her wallet ready. It wasn't a big deal, it was just money. But the last thing Heidi wanted to do was upset Tuck.

"You kinna deserved it," Tuck replied despite the fact that she really hadn't deserved it. It'd been fun, though, and the memory brought a huge grin to his face. The grin lasted all of a second before he was cramming another bite into his mouth. One empanada down, four to go. "No. You don't get to know." His tone was soft and light-hearted, "But it's kinna like.. another birthday present. For me. From you. 'cept. Kinna not." And that was all he was going to say about it, because if he kept yapping about it there was little doubt in his mind that he was going to spill the beans. "No. I know you was buyin' them because this is somethin' you wanna do for me. An' it makes me happy knowing you're happy. It's just that I like doin' nice things for you too. So it's kinna like, you makin' me happy makes you happy, and seein' you happy makes me happy." Tuck shrugged and leaned over to give Heidi a kiss before he straightened and immediately ate half of his second empanada.

"I did not deserve it. I am an innocent flower, untouched and pure like freshly fallen snow," Heidi argued in a cheerful, sing-song voice before she shifted to cuddle more closely with Tuck on the bench. Another birthday present..that...she'd be giving him? Heidi blinked. What could she give him that was kind of like a birthday present except not? She picked at her empanada while she thought hard on it. Oh..wait. Heidi squinted. "But I already do that for you a lot, you don't need to make me promise that..I like doing it." She wasn't sure if she was right, Heidi was mostly testing the waters. Not that she was lying or anything, she meant what she said. She relaxed and listened quietly to his feelings on her paying for their food. Heidi put her head on Tuck's shoulder and looked up at him with that fond smile again. The kiss was returned, and this time she didn't try to steal a second or third one from him. "Good, I was worried. And you do do nice things for me. All the time. Our first date? That was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me. Our first..my first kiss? Asking me to be your girlfriend..surprising me all the time with awesome, thoughtful things like that date on the roof? You're perfect. I wanna do nice things for you, too," because I love you so much. "I mean, I could list like a billion things about you that're awesome, but I don't think we have time for that.." Not today, anyway. Because I love you. I love you. I love you. pinchmonster I can't handle how cute these two are ugh it kills me I have diabetes now

As soon as Heidi spoke those first few words, Tuck was guffawing loudly - which drew the attention of a few people, but he didn't care. Her second response caught him completely off guard. Tuck hadn't been expecting her to think that he was talking about the more intimate things they did together - despite the fact that they hadn't yet had sex, they still fooled around together. It was enough to keep Tuck happy and satisfied, completely satisfied. He wanted to take that next step, wanted to take it real ******** bad, but Heidi's comfort and happiness was far more important to him, and it was important to him that they take that step together, when she felt ready. It was ******** adorable that she thought that he wanted that and not the simple act of watching her put on and wear a rather modest piece of lingerie he'd bought for her. One that didn't reveal much at all. One that covered as much as a two-piece bathing suit would. He grinned. And grinned. And grinned. Tuck was so ******** head over heels for this girl that it scared the s**t out of him - and made him impossibly happy at the same time. It was a weird emotion to feel, and Tuck wasn't real sure how to handle it. He only knew that there had to be a perfect time and place to tell her - once he gathered the courage to do so. So he shoved another empanada in his mouth to buy him some time, grinning at Heidi between chewing it. So classy. Tuck swallowed and just stared at Heidi for a second. "It's easy bein' awesome when all I do is think of ways to make you happy or see you smile," his shoulders lifted in a shrug, but there was a light blush on his face. His empanada bag was set aside and he rested his hands on her shins, idly rubbing her skin with the pads of his thumbs. "You're makin' me blush, I can feel it - so you better knock that s**t off right now."

Was she wrong? Why was he just grinning? Not that she didn't love it, the grin made her happy. Happier than anything. She wanted to throw herself at him, to tell him that she loved him and only him and she just wanted to go back to the hotel and be with him no matter what they ended up doing. "I'm making you blush? Nice. I like not being the only one doing that." Heidi leaned in to pull Tuck down for a kiss. "So hey, do you wanna just explore the city and just so whatever comes up until dinner?" Heidi was okay ditching the zoo, she just wanted to be with Tuck.

Tuck enjoyed the brief kiss, taking a moment to press a second kiss to Heidi's forehead before he leaned back on the bench. "If you really wanna go to the zoo, we're gonna go to the zoo. If you wanna get lost and explore, we can do that. You got reservations for dinner somewhere? I think it'd be fun to be tourists an' buy stupid souvenirs an' whatever, but if you really want to get to that zoo, then we gonna do that." He didn't really care where they went or what they did. He was happy just spending time with his girl in ******** Spain. "You choose. You spent all this time plannin', so you get to pick."

"They're at seven because I wasn't sure how long we'd spend out and about and then getting ready for dinner," Heidi explained with a smile before she started eating her last empanada. "And the restaurant is super close to the hotel so it won't take us long to get there." She finished her food quickly and got comfortable against Tuck, putting her head on his shoulder. It did sound really fun to just be tourists. "Let's do your idea, it sounds fun. We'll do silly touristy things." Heidi tilted her head to look up at Tuck. "I think our phones have gps anyway so if we get lost we'll be fiiiiine."

"Sounds good. So we got the whole day ahead of us. You wanna check out the rest of the market? Or we can jus' start walking and see where we end up." Tuck paused to finish off the last of his empanada before he gathered up Heidi's papers, shoving them all in the much larger bag the empanadas had come in. "We could make our way to the beach. Bet they got fish markets there." Not a fan, nope, but Heidi loved seafood so maybe they could find a vendor and someone willing to cook for them. "Let's do that," he turned to kiss the top of her head. "Sound good?"

Oh. They had to get up. Right. But she was comfortable. Heidi drew lazy circles against Tuck's chest with her finger. "Yeah, let's see where our feet take us. Let's just be at the hotel by like..uh...five? Five thirty?" That gave them a few hours to explore. She looked surprised by his suggestion of a fish market. "Yeah, it sounds great. But I thought you hated seafood~." Heidi giggled. She tilted her head into the kiss and made a happy little noise.
"Sounds great. We'll do that."
Heidi made no move to get up yet. Instead she snuggled comfortably against Tuck again and leaned up to kiss his jaw line. She then just gazed up at him, reaching for one of his hands and resting it on her hip with her hand on top of his. She'd get up whens he was good and ready to get up, but she could never seem to get enough of just sitting with Tuck and being with him.
It was there again. Three words that made her both excited and incredibly terrified. What if he didn't say them back? What if that wasn't how he felt? Heidi wanted it to be, she wanted it so bad. I love you, Tuck. I love you too, Heidi. And then they all lived happily ever after loving each other forever and ever.
Heidi couldn't help but smile as she finally got up on her knees and kissed Tuck's cheek. "Okay, let's go~."

"I do, but you like it, so I'm willing to see what they got going on over there if you want to." Because why the hell not, if it made her happy.
He wasn't in any big hurry to get up, either, but when Heidi rose to her knees Tuck wrapped his arm around her waist and drew her down for a kiss. That peck on the cheek hadn't been enough - but the kiss he gave her was a little deeper, a little more passionate. Just a little, as he was aware of their surroundings and he didn't want to embarrass her.
Well, he wouldn't have minded embarrassing her, because that pink blush that lit up her cheeks was pretty ******** adorable.
"Alright," he mumbled as soon as he broke the kiss. Tuck instantly took her hand into his and grabbed their garbage with his free hand, but he was absolutely not letting go of Heidi's hand. "C'mon, then."

Oh, that was a pleasant surprise. Heidi fell easily into Tuck's arms as he pulled her in for the kiss, happily returning the affection and rubbing his shoulders. When they finally parted she gasped quietly, that blush he had been expecting making her cheeks pink, her eyes were wide. That...was unexpected. "Wh-what was that for?" In public holy cow. She giggled helplessly.
She climbed off the bench and followed Tuck as he led her away, squeezing her boyfriend's hand and falling into step beside him with that lovestruck look of fondness she'd had back at the hotel. "Okay~. Where're we going first? Just..pick a random direction."
I love you. I love you. Please love me, because I love you. "If we find good seafood I'm making you try some, I hope you're ready."

Goddamn, she was sweet.
"Man ain't allowed to kiss his woman?" He was grinning, having caught sight of that pink blush. He couldn't stop smiling, and that feeling of absolute adoration only intensified when he caught sight of that look on her ********, he loved her.
He mulled over that thought as he lead her down the little street, taking a moment to throw away their garbage before they continued walking. Tuck wasn't sure which way was which, but he took a guess and headed towards the distant sounds of seabirds which were barely audible over the hustle and bustle of the city.
"We're goin' this way, but I ain't makin' no promises over eating seafood. Which, by the way, we're bound to find since we're close to the sea. Ain't about if we find some, it's about when."

"No you can totally kiss me all day every day I'm totally okay with that," Heidi said quickly as she hopped up to kiss his cheek again. "I love--" you "--it. I love. It. When you kiss me." Her blush spread, her cheeks felt so hot she could swear if she touched them she'd get like a third degree burn or something. Heidi was sure of it.
She swung their hands between them while they were walking, humming cheerfully and sticking close to her boyfriend's side. Heidi looked everywhere. Every building, the window of every shop, even the people and what they were doing and wearing. This was so cool.
Heidi was so glad Tuck had asked for Spain.
"You'll eat it." Heidi finally looked up at Tuck with a smug grin. She'd make sure he ate it. "I'll find the best lobster in this city, and I'll make 'em cook it for me, and I'll make you eat it. And it'll be amazing and delicious." She sounded confident about this. She was determined to make Tuck at least try it. It wasn't the end of the world if he hated it, but the point was he'd tried it.

Tuck's mouth was half-open when she said that she loved -- it. His mouth snapped shut. At that moment he made himself a ******** promise. Before this trip was over, he was going to ******** nut up and be a man and tell Heidi how he felt about her, and if she laughed in his face, well. ******** it. At least he'd gotten it off his chest. "I love kissin' you." His voice was soft. Now? Did he say it now? I love everything about you. ********. No, not now. Though a huge part of him doubted she'd laugh in his face, Tuck still wasn't sure how she was going to react. They'd been pretty inseparable since their relationship changed from friendship to more romantic - and a piece of him wondered if she felt the same way. Love. ******** complicated s**t. "Fine, fine. I'ma eat it but I ain't gonna promise to like it." Tuck fell silent, just watching Heidi to see if her eyes lingered on any trinket in particular. If it did, he'd find a way to ******** buy it for her. Send her on ahead, make a lame excuse that he needed to piss, whatever. "I think we're getting close to the shoreline. I can smell it."

Heidi couldn't do anything other than giggle when she heard the way Tuck said he loved kissing her. He loved kissing her, not just like, love. She squeezed his hand and then raised their hands to kiss his knuckles, smiling up at Tuck before letting go of his hand only so she could put his arm around her shoulders and walk closer to him. Her own arm moved to settle around Tuck, hooking one of her fingers in a belt loop on his jeans, and tilting her head against the man. This was better. She liked being as close to Tuck as possible. "You don't have to like it~. It'd be nice if you did, but I just wanna see you try good, quality seafood."She looked up again when she felt Tuck's eyes on her, looking curious when she caught him watching her. Heidi didn't question it, simply giving Tuck that same smile from before and then nuzzling her cheek against his shoulder. She loved this man, this man who made her feel special and important, like she mattered. The only time her eyes really lingered on anything that wasn't him was if it was something that looked absolutely ridiculous so she could point it out to Tuck, laughing over how silly it was. "Hmm?" Heidi's attention was instantly hooked when Tuck said they were getting near the water. Really? She grinned, bouncing excitedly on her toes while they were walking. "Yay! Good to know we can walk here tomorrow~." Heidi touched her face a moment to make sure it was okay. The sun by the beach would feel a lot stronger than just being in the city. Hm.. She let go of Tuck to reach into her back pocket for her bottle of sunscreen, reapplying it to her face and arms for good measure. Heidi wouldn't get into the ocean today but just being near it would probably be enough. "You're so lucky~" Heidi sighed.
