Where one would see a rotting body, The apprentice witch, Exava, saw a treasure trove of ingredients and an army of willing servants. All she needed to do was weed out the weak, and there was no better place to do so that the crypts. With fresh corpses delivered almost daily, all she needed to do was find a quiet place deep within the stone walls of the tomb and set up shop. Her current sights were set on a recent shipment of city guard whom had died in a street fight. Exava toiled over the bodies, getting the details of each one's anatomy and taking notes in a small book bound in ragged leather. Each measurement, each little piece of information would drive her closer to her goal of making her newest dark creation. Exava almost seemed to melt into the bodies; her attention to her surroundings had dramatically dropped. It was foolish of her to let her guard down in such a place. Even with Nocturne's shady history, pilfering the dead still seemed like a d**k move.

Slightly off from Exava, barely noticeable in the shadow he crept, was a blonde man accompanied by a furry-eared girl. He seemed to have been performing some ritual; he barely moved an inch, though he chanted all sorts of heresies. His blood was scattered on the floor, a pentagram drawn beneath him. There was a very large container in the hands of the kiranu. It was quite obviously loaded with blood, and it wasn't his. Food, maybe. For after this was all over with. His body began to light up in energy, and he squealed in excitement. It was happening! The soul was coming straight for him, moving to infiltrate his vessel. "Brilliant," he whispered. He could feel his spirit being torn asunder, and replaced with a new one. One that even began to emigrate to the rest of his body, changing him as a whole. His thin, pale body contorted for a moment, then grew outward. His hair changed. His face. With a large and agonized yelp, things fell silent, finally.
They stayed that way for a while, actually. This 'body' seemed to be very confused. The first thing he became infatuated with was Elizabeth, who was a very strange creature to him. She had these animal ears, and a tail to boot. She seemed to be silent, but held up tribute to him: blood. Quite a bit of it, recently extracted. He opened the container and devoured it in a few gulps, but even that didn't feel like quite enough. He smiled at the undead creature, and then tore his fangs into her neck. It only took a tiny sip for him to reel back, though; he realized that whatever that goop he just tried to drink was, it was nothing edible. It tasted like what must've been s**t, piss and death all in the same. "What are you?" The vampire asked the girl, though she did not speak. She'd lost that ability a long time ago. "And what are you?" He glanced over to the girl beside him. It certainly wasn't like he didn't notice her; vampire perception was far beyond the perception of others. She seemed to be... slightly macabre. He could smell -- to his objection -- the corpses around him. It was disgusting. Did he finally wake up in hell, after so long a moment of peace?
Whatever the case, he didn't plan on acting like a confused little boy. He quickly dashed over to the young girl, and brought his fangs against her neck. "I'm hungry for blood," he muttered, a large exhale washing against her skin. "But you smell disgusting." He remembered humans to be a lot more... nourishing than this. And they usually didn't have cat ears.

The sudden rush sent a shock through Exava's body. It took several seconds before she was able to actually get a semi-decent assessment of the situation, and when she did, she didnt panic. It wasn't out of some sense of pseudo-courage, she just wasn't scared. Her eyes glanced in the direction of Azezal's teeth and then up to the man who owned them. "Hello!", she squeaked, "Did you want some of these bodies? Usually I dont have to share, but there's plenty to go around." As soon as she spoke, Exava instantly regretted it. What if he was with the town's guard? She had pretty much just confessed to grave robbing without giving it a second thought.

What kind of answer was that? Did he want dead bodies? No, not really. What use did he have for corpses? Ugh, the last thing he wanted to hear was that vampires these days were resorting to the undead. "Bodies..." He stared at her, his nose honing in on her scent. It was quite distinguished; there were many outside influences. He could smell death on her. Many different unfortunate people. What was her reasoning for this . . . ? "Are you asking me to turn them?" It seemed like a plausible reason. Recently deceased could be... converted. None of these people were all that new, though. "I don't have a use for the undead. I like to keep things... fresh." He could barely even legitimately say that, as he had this undead girl following him around. She literally stood only a few inches from his back, as if she had no idea where she was going. No recognition of boundaries. Exava probably knew better than Azazel about the manner of this creature. She was an extremely powerful woman turned into an undead slave. Most of the necromancers Azrael had met took several hours to admire her, all of them fantasizing about having something like that for themselves. But Azazel did not have this experience.
He just felt this strange connection inside of him, to her. And this urge to bring all of these bodies to life. He felt like he knew how, too. The man's hands moved from Exava's neck, coming back to his chest. His palms were opened, and they loomed in the air. He breathed deeply, and used energy the same way he always remembered doing it; by a fierce, willful push of his psyche. Moments later, all of the bodies surrounding them began to rise, and they flocked to his side. Even bodies in other rooms of the crypt all came forth, to come alongside their new master. "No," He looked around him, feeling quite petrified. "I don't think I want any of these bodies. Definitely not." With a lowering of his hands, and an expulsion of the energy, they all fell to the floor. "You, though--" He looked down at the young girl, and shrugged. "You'll have to do." With a glance over his shoulder, he smirked, and dug his fangs into her neck, drawing the blood from her fragile body.

A tingle rushed up the girl's spine as the corpses around her came to life. Her eyes grew wide and her mouth hung open, both gaping in pure awe. This level of power, the ability to raise entire tombs; this man must have been an extremely powerful necromancer. She spun around the room, looking at each corpse until her. She was like a child in a candy shop, growing more and more giddy with each body she saw until finally her excitement couldn't be contained any longer. "Oh my god, you're amazing! I've never seen so many raised at once! This is...this is just amazing! I cant even put it into words..." she said, trailing off as she spotted Elizabeth. "Is she a corpse too? How'd you get the rot to stop? This level of preservation...it's remarkable, ow," she rambled, breaking off only for a moment as Azezal bit into her neck. "You're a vampire? That's cool! You're like, the pinacle of the undead! I mean of course a Lich or a Revenant could also hold their own, but to be so lifelike while still being dead...you...you're amazing! Can we hang out? I'd love to learn some of your tricks..." It was pretty clear that he girl loved the undead, more than most would care to.

He stared quietly as the girl began to obsessively squee about his ability. Was it really that awesome? He kind of just pulled it out on a whim. Well, that was no surprise, really. It was him. The first vampire; the father of their kind. Why was he expecting any less? Still, though. A fangirl. How did he deal with those back a few centuries ago? He either ran, or he killed them. Forgot which. "I don't know," He responded, almost shamefully. Sadly, it seemed like she had far more knowledge about what sort of 'transition' he was going through than he did. Perhaps it would be better to bear his teeth and deal with her for a time. "I think she's a corpse. Smells like it." A lot better than the other dead people surrounding him, but she was unmistakably dead. "I suppose stopping the rotting . . ." This was just an educated guess, but it seemed logical. "It's like how you stop a vampire from rotting. After you've killed it, you bring it back to life. Give it a soul to hold all of that mess together, and it won't start breaking at the seams." He was actually right. That was how you kept a reanimated body from decaying. He felt like that wasn't really just a guess, though -- he knew this stuff. Somewhere.
Her fangirl rant only really got bad once she got to his own... identity. Yeah, he was a vampire. Didn't know what a lich or revenant was. Didn't care. They were probably some other supernatural race, and that made them enemies. "I'm the first vampire," He slipped that in, fully expecting her to believe him. He was sure that people spoke of his appearance; sang of his tan skin, and his hair black like the night. There was no way he'd been forgotten. "Azazel. And I'm far more than just 'life-like'." He was the life of the party, or at least in his own mind. "I don't know if we can hang out for too long. I'm not exactly sure where we are, anyhow. Is this Luimira? I don't know why, but it feels familiar." Back then, the city was just a little construction project. It hadn't been completed. He just... felt like he knew better than to assume he was elsewhere. "I can teach you some of my tricks, but..." Ugh, he wanted to ask if she'd answer some questions, but he had way too much pride. "Nevermind. Let's just get out of here. It's disgusting." If he had anything in his stomach, he'd certainly have barfed it out.

Exava's eyes almost doubled in size, rivaling even the most moe of girls. "You can trap souls too? That's blood magic! I...I dont even...oh my god you're so cool!" Raising the dead, trapping a soul; he made such dark magics sound like it was child's play! On top of all that, he wasn't just a vampire...no, he was THE vampire. "This guy, he's the one! He's so cool! I have to get him to train me!" She thought to herself. As far as she was concerned, he was the grand master of black magic, and everything she held dear. He hadn't totally turned her away, so she knew she had a possible in with the vampire. "Oh ya, this is Luimira, lots of...oh" she would say, being cut off by his comment about leaving. "Quick, he's leaving! You cant lose him, dont mess this up!" she thought to herself once again, trying desperately to conceive a plan that would fix her to his side, though she didn't think the result would be so...literal. Her wide eyes quickly shot to the corpses, then to Elizabeth, then back to Azazel as she lunged out and latched onto his arm. "Nailed it..." she whispered to herself.

Everything that came out of her mouth was ironically informative. The words she attached to these spells, and the way she would speak out her knowledge of these dark arts. "Blood magic. Sounds about right." That must've been what the bloody pentagram on the floor was for. It certainly seemed bloody enough. What might've been surprising to this girl was that Azazel didn't even retaliate when she latched onto him. He stopped for a moment, sighed, then continued on. He was so used to people depending on him; unlike in today's world, people used to be much more forward with their desires. She was amazed by him, enthralled even. He accepted her obsession as something he could gain from, if she ever became quite 'good' enough. Maybe he could teach her black magic. Not if it was to become anything like the relationship he had with his progenies, though. They used the power he gave them to destroy him. "Perfect, then. Last thing I wanted was to wake up in Fraxen or something awful like that." He looked over behind him, to see that Elizabeth was beside Exava, and staring extremely closely at her. She was assuring that she didn't try to pull anything sketchy, like a hidden blade. It was quite obvious that she had some weird protective instinct over his wellbeing.
"Well," Azazel called to the young woman, "Come along then, my progeny." He had to start his resurgence somewhere. Even in a crypt with a silly, squeaking fangirl. --exit to... undesignated location--

Exava's lips stumbled over the word..."Pro...Pr...Progeny?" she softly questioned to herself. This low tone lasted a whole hot 2 second as the difinition of the word finally sunk in and the entirety of the crypt was filled with a nightmarish squeal that surely would have woken the dead, had they not been awoken already.

A red testarossa rolled into the graveyard. The place was filled with tombstones and dug up graves, either by grave robbers or the undead themselves. It didn't take Chase long to find one big enough to house all of the bodies he'd collected from the red light district. He silently tossed what was left of them into a dark hole in the ground and buried them in dirt, such was the nature of things. "Rest in pieces, but rest all the same." He said over the filled grave. They were the only parting words he could think of, never having known any of them personally. Afterwards, Chase got back into his car and drove back into the city to collect his reward.

These gloomy crypts, with walls and columns of plain stone, are at odds with the opulence of much of the rest of the main chamber. The only decorations are prayers carved into the columns or the icons that adorn small shrines set into niches in the walls. Cells lead off from the main room, and the scent of incense is ever-present. While nothing looks off here, you do notice that some of the dust on the remains have been unsettled. Their length gauze no longer adorning that once illuminant shimmer that years of debris collect. Radek would even notice several small one-eyed bats hanging at some of the archways, their beady orb staring at him from afar and if he drew near, they'd still not move from their perch.
There was the tiniest hint of music from somewhere, it was hard to tell, perhaps Radek was just hearing things. It could be the pulse thundering in his ears, or just his imagination? Whatever the case, it was there, real or not. He need only to continue, choosing left or right since the corridor would trail off into those directions. It was hard to determine which was a safer route..both were dark and musty smelling. Probably why the incense were burning.

Radek took notice of the place as it did seem as someone... or something was here due to the disturbance of the remain's dust. He made sure to take a note of it and the cyclopian bats before he took note of the sound of music. It did fit in with the dark unsettling feelings of the crypt and seeing as how acoustic the crypts are, it would be hard to tell which hallway would have music coming from it. He decided it would be best to check out the side on the right, going down the hallway with his iron staff, hitting the floor a few times as a way to find out how far it'd be with just the sound echos.
