Speaking of his other movies, you guys should check out King Arthur! He's not the main character, but he plays a warrior who fights alongside a few other guys, once of which is played by Hugh Dancy! So it's a two-for-one film haha.

angel_of_joy XxMo_uNdEaDxX I think he's perfect as the middle aged Hannibal. >w< i wonder if theyre gonna incorporate some of his back story w/ lady Murasaki. emotion_kirakira I really, really hope so! That would be amazing. I love the differences and the similarities in the way Hannibal treats the women in his life. i know!!!!!! but he was in love with her. emotion_8c she just couldnt love the "monster" he had become. emotion_facepalm when she stripped naked in the book and he turned her down i was like omd!!!! I was excited about the TV show, but wary to give my trust to someone other than Hopkins. In retrospect, Hopkins' Hannibal is ... borderline campy, but that makes sense. He had, all together, maybe 15 minutes of screen time in SotL. He had to make his Hannibal memorable. ...His is the one I grew up with, so I suppose it was natural for me to feel apprehensive....
But Mads has completely blown me away. I try to think of words to describe what exactly I feel, but I can't. It is as though my admiration and appreciation of his work is without description.
His use of body language and especially the very, very almost invisible tweaks of his facial expression.... He says so much with apparently so little effort.

I was of the same mind as you in the beginning. Anthony made the role for me, but Mads has stepped in and made him new and exciting.

He has fabulously Nordic features.
I find the way he plays Hannibal to be very striking. He's much less of a sympathetic character; he's a little too controlled, a little too passive to seem fully human. I'm a little surprised everyone trusts his opinion completely! Someone that composed would really rattle me!

And Mads does have striking features. and his accent is spectacular.

Oh yes, definitely. Definitely. But I'm like... yelling at the TV that nobody else seems to think it's weird he's so emotionless about everything!
Also, I hope every single time Will is in his office, he just happens to glance over and see the damn moose, elk, stag, whatever it is statue, but he never does. >:C

I've already said quite a bit of my Mads fandom in Angel's original Hannibal thread..but my Hannibal and I have been pretty rabid fans of the man since King Arthur and would catch him in anything and everything we could get our hands. I always felt he was soooo underused/underrated in Hollywood movies. It kinda pissed me off, like... he was so much more fun to watch in Clash of the titans than boring Worthington..should have been a Draco movie XD. So when I read in a magazine that he was going to be playing Hannibal in a new TV show, I was an instant fan and hadn't ever been so excited for a TV show to air on TV.

Maybe, but the bottom line is he had to reprogram her to a certain extent too.
