Briella smiled. Kaalnia knew that there were plenty sisters who didn't approve of interspecies dating, but she also knew that Briella wasn't like that. The two of them simply hadn't been raised like that. "We both have to continue it, maybe adding some earthling to the mix would make it even better."
As Kaalina continued to talk Briella had to keep from laughing. It seemed that one thing didn't change about her sister in all this time, she still talked more than anyone Briella had ever met. As her sister talked about the halfling she met Brie shook her head. "Black might have been her color, but I don't think it is yours. You are perfect as you are." she said. Sometimes she felt bad for halflings, many sisters shunned them, but hopefully in time that would stop.

Ilyra frowned. Dyakida was right. If she hit her aunt again there was a big chance that her mother would get mad at her, and she didn't want that. Stop talking, from what she saw so far her aunt didn't know how to stop talking...
When Dyakida asked if Kaa had anything shiny or interesting Ilyra looked over. "Her spear has little things tied to it? Some of them are shiny." she said proud that she could help.

Things tied to it? That would do. Yes, that would do just fine. "Peyla?" she called softly
Peyla had been bored, listening to the loud one go on and on. She understood maybe half of it, and, though bored, was enjoying it sort of. She liked the energy. She just wanted something to do.
Her ears perked up at the call and she flittered over. What did her Alkidike want her to do?
"I want you to steal the thing on Kaalnia's spear. Ilyra says that it is shiny and is tied to it. Please, bring it to me." Said Dyakida, smirking more than a little unkindly.
Steal?! That was fun, but it was an odd request. She assumed that Kaalnia was the loud one because she was the only one with the spear. Peyla liked her, but she'd give the shiny things - which she now saw dangling from the spear like tempting little berries - back when she was done playing.
She fluttered in and, with nimble hands, untied the talisman from the spear and darted back towards Dyakida.
Dyakida took what was offered to her and ran her fingers over it. How interesting... she might want to learn to make things like it and sell them on the side... she waited for the commotion to turn to her.
"I have an announcement." she said, standing up, the bundle in her arms, "Briella, you have come far and will go farther. In recognition of your promotion to Blade..." her voice softened to a less official tone, "and... for being here for me all this time..." she smiled a brief moment, "I present this craft of mine to you." she held out the bundle, still wrapped. It held swords that she had spent days crafting and testing. They were good-quality blades, the best she could make. Only the best for her sister. "I hope you like them..."

"I bet it would!" she said with glee, "It'd certainly add some fun colors! Can you imagine green eyes? Or.. or... silver eyes? So pretty!" not that Kaalnia was seriously thinking about children of her own. She didn't really think much about it. This was just a thought exercise, something fun to think about. Mmm... what a pretty hybrid that would be, green alkidike skin, green leaf eyes, brown leaf hair... she wanted to meet one and hit on her. She bet that would be a sexy combo.
"Heh, I know, I know." she said, posing, "I'm great as I am, I know." ... and then out of nowhere a little annoying... thing... came and stole her sparkly thing right off her spear. "Hey... HEY!" she yelped, flailing, "Give that back!" she chased it a little bit until she realized it was giving her talisman to the artisan.
Ha! She knew the blind chick was into her. This was a come on! A really subtle one. Kaalnia turned on her best smile, forgetting that, of course, Dyakida couldn't see it, and was about to start putting on the moves when Dyakida made her announcement.
Ohhh, so thats what it was? Kaalnia was not convinced that it wasn't a come on, though. She could see through the woman's tricks, hehe. But she played along.
"Whoooohoo! Go Brie!" she said, doing a little twirl. "Whats in it, Brie? C'mon, open it!" she said, leaning in.

She smiled. Silver eyes did seem interesting, she wondered if that could happen? For the halfling to have eyes like a sister but the color of an earthling? She certain hadn't seen it before, but that didn't mean it wasn't possible. She was about to say more when Peyla came and grabbed a trinket from Kaalnia's spear. She frowned, that was very unlike the sprite. It was more something that Amadi would do than something Peyla would do.
When Dyakida started to speak things started to make sense and Briella smiled. When Dyakida held out the bundle Briella shook her head. She took it and opened it quickly, anxious to see the beautiful work she knew Dyakida had done. However she wasn't prepared for the sight of them. "Dyakida, they are perfect and beautiful and so perfectly sharp..." she said clearly in awe. "I will treasure them almost as much as I treasure our friendship." She sad before hugging Dyakida.

So Dyakida had a gift for her mommy! This was great! Briella had told her that Dyakida the Wise made weapons and she couldn't wait to finally see her creations! Plus since Dyakida was making her a bow this was like a sneak peak to seeing what she could really do, even if it was a different weapon.
As Briella opened the bundle Ilyra was looking at them, hovering so she would see them as soon as Briella did. When they were revealed she smiled. "Those are the best swords ever!!!" she said excitedly.

Kaalnia peered into the bundle. "Whoa. Those are awesome." she said, nodding appreciatively, impressed. They were sharp and looked sparklingly delightful. A good set of blades.
A sudden idea struck her. Maybe the blind chick was into Brie!
Well of course she would be! Brie and Kaa were both equally awesome in their own ways, though Kaa thought that maybe Brie was even cooler, if only because of age.
But Brie already had a lady, so score for Kaalnia, because Briella was monogamous, and that was nice, and not just because it meant that Kaalnia could clean up the inevitable crushes. Briella was just too awesome and there was no shame in taking advantage of being her sister, right? Kaalnia wiggled her eyebrows at Dyakida before forgetting that the lady couldn't see. Aisha's boughs, this would be hard. The good kind of hard. Kaalnia loved a challenge, it was fun for everybody.
"Maybe you could make me my new spear when I'm a blade?" asked Kaalnia, staying out of the way, even though she kind of wanted to turn the hug into a group one because that was just her thing.

a pet dino As of this post, its 10 posts each for my guys... I think I'll double up XP Dyakida did not often get hugged and the fullness of awareness that it allowed her to have was a rare treat. She smiled, full of emotion. "I'm glad." she said, returning the hug tightly. She pulled away from her sister, laughing. "Oh, Ilyra. They are far from perfect." she brought her hand to her face, brushing back the short-cut dredlocks that brushed her cheek, an attempt to hide her flattered expression that wholly failed. She was too pleased by the comments to truly hide it.
"One day, I will be able to make them with more skill. But." she smiled warmly, unable to suppress it at all, "I'm glad you like them."
Even Kaalnia's praise gave her a boost. She turned towards Kaalnia's voice, her hands releasing Briella's elbows gently, almost reluctantly. "I would happily make you your spear when you reach the rank of Blade." she said, the high of the high praise dulling her annoyance at the loud girl. "As I will do for any sister who needs my skills."
Ahh, this was what she had practiced for - this feeling of appreciation and worth. "You should," she said, turning back towards Brie, "Try them out a little.

Briella winked at Ilyra. "Modest, skilled and wise, you have much to learn from her young lady." she teased her daughter. "And like is the understatement of the year, they are the most beautiful set I've ever seen. Sisters from everywhere will marvel at them." she said whole heartily, and she wasn't just flattering Dyakida. They were marvelous.
When Dyakida suggested she try them out she looked around. The trees would dull the blades, and since they were new she didn't want that. They normally had a pratice dummy but Ilyra had tore it apart so it was pretty useless. Than she got an idea!
"Kaalnia, wanna show me what you've learned? We could do a ribbon battle?" she egged her sister on. It wouldn't be a real battle, there was no way Briella would hurt her baby sister, but it would be fun. She was sure that they had ribbons somewhere in the house. They could tie them to each others waste and whoever stabbed or cut off the others ribbon first won. They use to play it back on the home island.

Although she wasn't exactly sure what modest meant, if it was something that Dyakida was it was something she wanted to be. She wanted to be the perfect blend of Dyakida and Briella. She would do it, she had faith in herself. "Much better than anything I could do..." she said under her breath as she looked at the swords.
When her mother proposed a ribbon battle Ilyra's eyes got wide. She had heard of them before, every sister had, but she had never seen one in person. Before anything could be said she rushed to their home and returned with two long ribbons, perfect length to tie around Kaalnia's and Briella's waists.

"Great!" said Kaalnia, already excited at the prospect of a spear made by this wonder woman. They were such awesome blades! She turned to Briella, excitedly. "Yeah! Yeah! Ya gotta try them out! I bet they move like a dream and cut the air with a hiss, like grandmama's sword used to! Remember?" That had been one well-made sword. Kaalnia thought that it might have been sent off too sea when the old woman passed on. A shame, but hey, the old lady wanted to take her weapon with her.
When Briella suggested a ribbon battle, Kaalnia stared at her sister, stunned. "A ribbon battle?!" they'd once had them often while they had trained, "Wow! It's been a while since we've done one, huh..." that had to have been years ago... they'd been young prentice's then and Kaalnia had wanted to practice with her spear. Of course, Brie had won that time... Kaalnia grinned, tying the offered ribbon around her waist. "Hey, maybe I'll beat you this time!" she said, lowering her spear, her eyes glittering with excitement. This was just like the good old days, wasn't it, when they'd still been together, before Brie had gone off on her own. "Allright!" she said, grinning, "Show me what ya got, sis!" she called out, taunting good naturedly.

It was high praise, such high praise. Dyakida could tell that Briella meant what she said. If there was a serious flaw in the blades, Dyakida could count on Briella to let her know. She would be told kindly, but directly. So Dyakida was sure of the validity of the praise. This was the path she had chosen and, if Briella was happy with it, then that... well... that was good.
She knew that most Alkidikes who dabbled in crafting weapons were much older than her. She knew that because of her focus on weapon crafting alone, she would progress much faster than they had.
She hadn't realized she had reached the level of marvel, and some part of her was still convinced that Brie was just saying that because she was Brie and supportive and wonderful. She could, though, feel her ego swelling. Modest, she really was not.
ooo, a Ribbon fight? She remembered those... Oh how fun they were. "That sounds like a plan... Ilyra, can you be my eyes?" she asked. She wished she could watch Briella trounce this loudmouth.
