It was the home stretch. She had this. She totally had this.
"Mysterious as--"
Thane bit into the masses with a hiss of pleasure.
"--the dark side of--"
She swore they were cowering at this point. Or otherwise making it easy to slice them open.
"--the mooooooooon~!" the trainee belted as a battle cry of sorts, cutting a clear path out for her and her princess. Upon reaching the end, Stormy couldn't help but beam at her progress, though she was too out of breath to actually call for Candace and hoped she'd watched. Princess Sherry cooed over her for a job well done, apparently not remembering the near fumble with the cuff.

Candace was standing outside waiting for Stormy, and when the girl finally burst out with the end of her song she laughed and applauded. "You did it! And you did so well! Congratulations, Stormy! I'm so proud!" She was grinning from ear to ear. This was great, a wonderful show of how Stormy did. It told Candace her strengths and weaknesses, this was great. "That's all we'll do here for today, but I want you to do this tower every once in awhile, okay? And try doing the other courses as well." Candace hummed thoughtfully. "Do you ever have trouble actually using Thane? Swinging him around and stuff?

If she had had the energy to jump, she would have; thumbs up and a bright grin were all Stormy could manage right now. "Right...Gotta keep...in shape and all...Thank you!" she answered between pants, rolling her head around on her shoulders. But it wasn't so bad! And Miss Candace was happy!
"I don't have as much trouble as I used to," Stormy went on to say. "But he's really hard to use if I only have one hand available, and sometimes I have to build momentum to really get going. But maybe as I go along I can get over both?" She wanted her moment of badassness too, okay. "It'll be tough to fight in small places and all, but, um...I could like...Well I'm cleared for runic daggers, I can keep one handy? I prolly should learn hand to hand stuff too..."

"Ah, I see..hm...if you want I can see if I can get someone to help you who's bonded to a weapon similar to yours." It wasn't something Candace had much practice with, the closest to a broadsword Candace had ever dealt with had been Circe. However she did know others who had larger weapons like Stormy's; Rep, Jordan, Clarice..maybe one of them would help if she asked. "Runic daggers? Good girl. I can help you with hand to hand stuff, too. I need to get daggers myself but I can do that on my own time. How about one of these days we spar, just hand-to-hand fighting?"

She let out a soft "whew" as her heartbeat began to slow from its battle tempo. Fight Candace? It'd be an experience no doubt, though..."If I suck at it, it's cause've these," Stormy warned her with a wiggle of her arms. "But I want to try! Not just yet, but a little later. I could send you a text when I think I'm ready?"
The offer of finding someone to help with sword training on top of that had the trainee beaming gratefully. "If you could, that'd be amazing..." And without warning Candace got a sweaty hug and a muffled cooing sound into her clothes. "Thank you so much...!"

Candace laughed. "Don't worry! It'll be instructional, and I don't go all out on trainees. And yes, just send me a text whenever you like. It can be about anything, okay?"The sudden hug came as a surprise but she laughed, returning the hug and petting Stormy's hair. She was so cute. Candace smiled, playing with the girl's ponytail and humming thoughtfully. Gale liked this girl. Even if it wasn't something he wanted to admit, he liked her. "..Has anyone ever picked a Disney character for you, Stormy?"

Candace's first question was answered by a wordless nod as Stormy fought the oddest urge to cry, something that would have not only been awkward and ill-timed but also hard to explain. When she was sure she wouldn't suddenly open the faucet, Stormy peeled away (regretting she didn't stick around for more head pats) and turned thoughtful. "Me? Um...I mean, I thought about Alice, but I don't really feel like her; she's the go-to for oddballs, and I like her story, but...if you pick a character, it ought to be more than just 'cause you both think of at least six impossible things before breakfast."
But what a curious question! Did Candace have an evaluation of her own? Stormy peered up at her with an expectant and encouraging look.

Aw, she stopped hugging her. Sad. Candace let Stormy go, still smiling. "Six impossible things, huh?" She chuckled. "I was thinking Belle," Candace began. "You're very pretty, very brave. From what I've seen you're eager to work and when you do you work hard, and I think you're smarter than you might give yourself credit for."

Stormy was going to go on and list a few of those impossible things for her benefit, but she was stopped by Candace's words. Belle...? She lifted a hand to touch her hair, forgot it was still pulled back, and had it curl against her chest instead. "There must be more than this provincial life," she half sang under her breath as she thought.
Did Candace really think she was a Disney Princess? Stormy felt her face warm up, and she tucked her chin shyly. "I do like reading," she mumbled. But Belle was confident and unafraid to give her opinions and was practically a symbol of women's lib, and Stormy wasn't any of those things...Maybe even the opposite of the last one. "That's very kind of you, Miss Candace...Thank you," she said with simpering smile, touching one of her cheeks and embarrassed to feel how warm it was. "You've been so nice to me, I wish I could repay you somehow..."

"Aw, Stormy. No, you don't need to repay me. All I ask is you continue to work hard, and don't be so self-deprecating. If you need help, don't feel like a failure because of it. I know how easy it can be to fall into a state of mind that has you believing you're not good at anything." Candace paused. "..A hug would be nice as well," she added with a smile and a wink.

Candace asked oddly hard things of her, and she would have tried to contest that it wasn't self-depreciating if it was true. But Stormy only had to heard the word "hug" and she was moving forward to give her one, all too eager to shower some affection on the woman who had given her advice and some direction on how to be part of the division.
"All the hugs you'll ever need, Miss Candace," she affirmed with a little nod against her, forgetting that she was sweaty still. "Just say the word or tweet or text it or whatever!" But it was terribly hard to imagine Candace doubting herself. not when she was Princess Jasmine.

Candace gave a little cheer when Stormy agreed to all the hugs, returning the hug she was being given and squeezing the girl affectionately. "I'll do that," Candace chuckled and kissed the top of her head before she released the smaller trainee. "Okay, I think that's it for now. We'll do more another day." She would politely not point out Stormy's need to shower.
