Reed frowned a bit, at Eoin's reply. Everybody had landmines to watch out for. He was unlucky enough to pick off one so early with a phrase that was meant to be in jest. But hey, the more you talk, the more likely you are to eat your words. The man took a long drag once more on his cigarette, shutting his mouth to hopefully reset the mood after a, "Condolences." And soon enough, an old friend popped in with a nice cheerful tone. Now, Reed hadn't seen Xeiro since hearing some news about him he was not particularly found of. However, a few drinks in and a forgiving personality allowed him to greet him with a large smile and big "Cheers." He pounded back the rest of his beer he had just raised in preparation for his new drink. It was a night that he probably wouldn't remember.

"Man, its been awhile," Reed started off, offering his pal a smoke, "To think people could fall out of touch when staying on such a small island." It's not like he never ran into Xiero, but sometimes you just don't see people. And it never helped that he didn't really want his kids running into him. That was another story though. There are all types of friends out there after all, and Xeiro was of the drinking sort. He even brought along an aura that attracted people. Well, person. One who was quite young as Eoin had pointed out. Reed was pretty sure she shared a class with his own daughter back in the day. Now she was here, all dressed up. "That's right a bummer," He spoke with a joyful laugh, "My wife would poke my eyes out for looking most of the time." Blaire had a lot of fire in her when it came to men. Enough where Reed made sure to watch his step even when she was off on tour. "But hey, nothing wrong with snagging some of her time for the company," He wasn't sure if including her they were all adults but, "Your welcome to join us miss." There was no harm in meeting new people. At least, none that Reed could see anyway.

Ahh, precious child! Nanami lifted her glass to her lips once more, smiling to herself as she watched his expression change. He was nearly green. It made her feel warm, to know that such a concerned young man was watching out for her daughter and grandson. "That's the spirit," she laughed lightheartedly.

Suddenly, a woman appeared at their table, and it took Nanami a moment to adjust to the new arrival. "Hi, Tess! Long time no see," she greeted the woman pleasantly. Of course she remembered her! She didn't spend as much time with the woman as she wished she did, but she had generally friendly feeling towards her. Afterall, there were some experiences that created an unbreakable bond between women whether they liked it or not, and injecting ink into the other's a** was one of those experiences. "Yes, yes, come join us," she said, rather after the fact, as the moved her glass to give Theresa more space. "It was a pretty decent year," she replied thoughtfully. "Some health things, but, well, part of getting older," she shrugged. "Generally, I can't complain! How was yours, Tess? Is your son doing well? Your husband?" Theresa was married, right? Nanami vaguely remembered the mention of a husband, but... well, it was always so hard to tell.

---

Finishing her second drink as she listened, Yuri managed to make it to 'she hit me first' before she giggled into her glass -- she wasn't really sure what was funny, but the alcohol she had consumed was probably starting to kick in. Setting down her now-empty glass again, she nodded, pretending to hang onto his every word. "Yes, that was very noble of you -- OH" She began to reply facetiously, but she cut herself off with a cry of surprise as Sethrian disappeared from his seat. Staring at him in stunned silence as he picked himself up from the floor and sat down as if nothing had happened, she was suddenly hit with the strong desire to laugh. "Are you okay?" she asked, reaching out to lightly touch his arm while simultaneously trying her best to hold back her laughter, but a chuckle or two slipped out. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but," she covered her mouth with the back of her other hand, her shoulders shaking with laughter, "You really stuck the landing, I'll give you a 9." Finally, she regained her composure and exhaled deeply. She was definitely buzzed by now, might as order another drink~

Zeke smiled at Gray's wonderful little bow, super duper happy to be meeting someone new. Though, he did wish that it didn't have to be someone that Luna had met first. "I'm Ezekiel, the brother and no. I don't work at the circus. I actually work for myself!" Was mentioning that you were a professional magician something that you told a cute guy you just met? Probably not. He'd just have to leave it at that, since all would probably be revealed with time anyway. If he got more alcohol into him, he'd probably be standing on top of the bar doing a little trick normally called 52 pick up. Maybe he should stop drinking now before things started to get too weird in front of Gray. "It's nice to meet you, Gray. Though I do feel a little bad for you having to put up with my sister." Even if they didn't seem to know each other that well, he still felt pretty bad that they'd probably end up having to get to know each other.

Luna nodded her head and took another drink, already feeling a little bored with Mr. Wellington. "I'm Lunesca Baum, but you can call me Luna if you'd like." She stated while forcing herself to be nice enough to finally look over at him. Sure, he was cute and all, but she just couldn't bother to get attached to a coworker, she probably shouldn't even be talking to him now. That was why she was happy when he started talking to Zeke. They seemed like they could get along pretty well together. So what if she was only basing that off the fact that they both annoyed her? She slumped forward a little and continued drinking with full intentions on eavesdropping on this conversation.

Raiden had begun sipping on his drink once it had arrived, trying to convince himself that his hand wasn't shaking. He was about to start trying at some other awful form of small talk when someone else had arrived to talk to Nanami. He had to smile a bit at this turn of events because, honestly, he had been a bit under the impression that Nanami was somewhat of a hermit outside of work. Oh, wait. There it was. She had met Nanami by getting a tattoo. He clutched his hand to his mouth, trying to act as though he didn't just laugh. When she looked over at him, he extended a hand to this new woman. "I actually work there. I'm the receptionist. I'm pretty sure I remember you." He grabbed his drink and took another swig as Nanami began to talk. It was kind of adorable to see how her lights lit up when she talked to this woman that she hardly knew, even remembering so much about their conversation. He was positively certain that he would never be able to remember all of that. "I've had a pretty decent year, too." He peeped in once Nanami had finished. "Nothing much to complain about. Please sit, I'd love to hear about yours." He nodded. If Nanami could be a great people person, dammit so could he.

Xeiro looked over towards the touch on his shoulder to spot none other than Vi. It was quite a pleasant surprise, although he should've known that the moment he walked over to these guys the ladies would show up. They really owed him. He turned his body slightly to get the best view possible and his smile widened. "No, we don't mind at all." He didn't care one way or another if these old geezers didn't want her around. She looked pretty hot and this was New Year's! He was going to wind up drunk and who better to be sitting next to him than some gorgeous floozy. He turned his head back to Eoin as he spoke and couldn't resist chuckling a little. He wasn't exactly sure of the context, but it sure felt like Eoin was taking a stab at Reed and that was something that Xeiro could enjoy. This new guy was already turning out to be a good friend prospect. "Yeah, falling out of touch is a bummer." He said with another laugh before taking his new shot and chugging it down. He slammed the shot glass down on the bar in attempts to signal for another. Then, he reached over and placed his arm around Vi's waist to tug her closer to him. "Iiii'm not married." Maybe all of those shots so fast weren't the best idea, after all.

Tatyana stirred her drink some more with a happy smile on her face as she listened to Murren talk. Sure, there were a lot of things that she didn't really quite catch, but she kept nodding her head happily anyway. She wasn't going to show how stupid she was in front of her wing woman! That would just be stupid. Had she just said something about a cow incident? Oh she just had to hear about that. "Honey, you are not in polite company anymore." She laughed before raising her own glass and taking a gulp. "It's great to see you again too! Even better to hear that you're doing so well, though I'd love to know some more about that giant of yours." She laughed, which grew a bit harder at the mention of her sister. Obviously Riley's costume had been a bit too convincing this year. "Oh, no! That was my brother! He's a bit strange, especially when he can get dressed up." She rolled her eyes at the thought and ordered another drink.

Now that all of those formalities were over, maybe they needed to get down to business. She glanced around and noticed some decent looking men. Oh gosh, maybe she should just order another drink first.

Eoin soon found himself sandwiched between Reed, who was apparently wanting to live vicariously through his friends since he was unable to pick up women himself, without having his eyes scratched out by a shrew. And now Xeiro, who'd come with a floozy attached at the waist.

He had a sudden, strong urge to get drunk. Quickly. "Quite..." he said again. "Quite." He was making a quick mental list of people whose descendents he did not want as sons in law and these two were at the very top of the list.

He didn't really give Vi so much as a second glance as he half-drained the glass the waiter had just refilled. He tried to rack his brain, thinking of something they could talk about that didn't involve picking up women but he realized the list was...very small. Neither of these lads looked like the sort to pick up a good book...ever. And he suspected they knew nothing about rugby or football, much less cricket or horse racing.

He watched Xeiro pull the floozy closer, and lifted his eyebrows slightly. "So we're two bachelors and a married man, sitting in a bar, attempting to pick up women the same age as our children?" He took another long drink. "Well, this bodes well for Nirvani society, I'm sure."

**

"Oh she isn't as bad as all that," Gray said, shooting Lunesca a smile. "Granted, we don't really see each other all that much to begin with. A lowly roustabout sort like me doesn't really get to mingle much with the performers--too busy with the manual labor and all that. I really don't know many of the other workers well. At the very least, I've not been pinned to anything with knives yet so I reckon it's fine."

He was just a little disappointed to find out Zeke didn't work at the circus but mostly because, as he said, he didn't know many of the other workers yet so it might be nice to have at least someone he knew outside of work.

The again...there was the whole bit about not being able to cheat colleagues out of money. Though he was the brother of a colleague so that still put a bit of a dampener on that.

**

"Weel, if'n yer really want ter know," Murren said, her accent growing gradually heavier as she got more and more liquor into her. "Ah thin' Ah moight 'ave stumbl'd on sommat tha' Ah shouldn' one noight when Ah woz doin' mah final check oop of th' animals an' oin' 'round ter make sure they were all locked oop noice an' toight an all tha' bu' when Ah go' 'round ter th' cow pen Ah saw sommat tha' woz no' quoite roight if'n yer follow me. Roight thar wit' one o' mah cows woz a creature Ah've ne'er seen b'fore an' wot 'ee woz doin' ter tha' pur cow woz jus' no' roight--tho when Ah think 'bout it now, Ah can' say as th' cow woz complainin'. Still, Ah jumped roight o'er th' fence ter scare th' thin' away bu' et jus' cam roight at me an' nerly jus' bowled me o'er roight thar bu' John--weel, 'ee's th' gian' tha' works at th' farm--'ee jus' swooped in an' sort o' plucked me roight o'er th' fence an' took off ter th' 'ouse wit' me un'er 'is arm loike a sack o' flour."

"We ne'er did figure oot wot et woz wit' mah cow bu' when we go' oot ter th' pen in th' mornin' the fence woz knocked roight o'er an' all th' cows were loose an' we 'ad ter spend th' 'ole mornin' roundin' back oop again." She took a long, long swallow of her drink, before slamming the glass on the bar and pouring herself another. "Ah'd say et woz a Cu Sith if'n Ah didn' know better, yer ken?"

She gave Tatyana a long look before she burst out laughing. "Weel, Ah'm a bi' glad ter 'ear tha'--Ah though' yer jus' 'ad a really ugly sister bu' Ah didn' wan' ter say et if'n yer know wot Ah mean."

***

"Just a nine?" Seth asked, leaning forward with a sort of dopey grin. "Well, I guess it's good enough. I think I'll pass on going for a higher score--at least when it comes to falling on my a**." He looked down at her hand on his arm and swallowed with just a hint of nerves. Nerves that were mostly done in by all the alcohol. "I don't mind if you laugh--you have a nice laugh, you know?" He paused.

"Hey." He captured her hand and leaned a little closer. "Are you really here alone? I mean you...someone like you really shouldn't be." Sethrian let out another laugh as he looked around the bar. He had to admit that, even from a male perspective, the prospects weren't all that good. A bunch of old guys, and a few strange looking men at the end of the bar. Geez.

"The again, when I'm the best pick in the room, you know something's wrong," he muttered, chuckling again.

Yuri was a sucker for compliments. It didn't take a whole lot to cheer her up; sometimes even just having someone compliment her shoes was enough to make her afternoon. It wasn't because she rarely got them -- she actually worked quite hard to get as many as she could. And yet, no matter how many she heard, she was always wanting more. "Flattery will get you far, my friend," she replied with a flattered smile, and it was true. Flattery and alcohol. How lucky they were in a bar!

She followed his eyes around the bar. There had been better crowds, hadn't there? Though to be honest, the alcohol was making it a little hard to remember exactly... Silently, she thanked her luck that she had ended up next to Sethrian in her haste to get more alcohol in her system; she was not quite ready to spend New Year's with a bunch of middle-aged divorcees -- even if she was well on her way to being a middle-aged divorcee herself. How old was Sethrian anyway? Ehh, she could let that bother her later. "Not the best bunch, huh?" she vocalized her thoughts as she leaned in as well, so she could speak in a hushed voice. "Gotta be a better way to ring in the new year," she sighed, pushing her hair back with her free hand. "Wanna get out of here?" she looked at Sethrian and raised an eyebrow inquisitively. "Go somewhere more interesting? There's just as much booze at my place." Was she admitting that she dabbled in alcoholism? Maybe. But she was too buzzed to care, maybe he wouldn't notice.

.:l Beep l:.

It was supposed to be a holiday for Briar. That meant that he didn’t have to show up to work; however, here he was, showing his face at the Lucky Shot. After all, it was either bonfires or getting drunk. Clearly, he wanted to go to the bonfire to get plastered like the manly person he was. Hey, who wouldn’t want to get warm and toasty by the fire to get smashed for New Years. Certainly not him. Then again, maybe he didn’t have to! As he walked into the bar, Briar’s eyes landed on a familiar shock of blue hair. Oh! It was that one lady from the gym. He never got the opportunity to really sit down and chat with her, but he could do it now! After all, it just seemed… so out of place that she was all by herself while everyone else seemed to be in groups.

He… had a bit of a struggle getting onto the high seat next to her, but he brushed it off like it was nothing. That was what men did after all. “Hey there! I'm Briar. Do you mind some company? By the way, I just want to say that I love your hair. It’s pretty awesome.” He nodded. Pink was better, but hey, blue could work too.

.:l Beep l:.

“I don’t want to go.” He hissed lowly for Quinn’s ears because he knew that she could hear him. Instead, she was just ignoring him as she briskly strode into the bar with Morgan reluctantly trailing behind. Urk. He… really didn’t want to be here at the moment, but he couldn’t just leave. After all, there was only one reason why he was even sticking around in the first place, and that was--

Quinn finally acknowledged her younger brother when she gave a quick glance and a sly smirk. “I'm not stopping you from going home. It just won't be my fault if you're not there to stop me from bringing anyone into your room for a little fun." There! That was exactly it! He knew that she was planning to do something of that sort, and that was exactly why he had to keep watch and freaking cockblock her!

"Now you'll have to excuse me as I go greet my coworker and her friend over there." She winked as she strolled over to where Vi was, making sure to loop her arms around the other side of the older man Vi was latched on. "Hello Vi~. I believe you should start introducing me to all your friends over here."

Morgan awkwardly shuffled his feet behind Quinn, not quite sure if he should or even wanted to join in this gathering of strangers, but he still hung around to be that partypooper on Quinn.

.:l Beep l:.

Time to get drunk! Now this was what New Years was all about. Kim was ready to get smashed here. It was a bit of a shame that no one celebrated Chinese New Years around here though some extra cash from red envelopes would have been lovely, so it was up to him to start up that s**t. By doing it the least traditional way possible because ******** tradition. He strutted over to a table of a rather interesting group. [Gray,, Lunesca]Hey, he could respect that, and they looked like fun even if two of them could have been related to his boss, which he noticed out of the corner of his eye, and the other had an eyepatch. "Hey, mind if I join in this conversation? Free shots on me. Hope you guys are heavy hitters because this is going to be more than just a few rounds."

"It isn't flattery,
" Sethrian said, far more earnestly than he would have if he was completely sober. Not that he'd have meant it less, but now that his head was buzzing pleasantly (as much from her attention as from the alcohol), he didn't mind outwardly showing just how much he wanted to believe it.

Especially since she'd just invited him to her place. The very thought made him flail in wild circles--internally, of course. He wasn't that far gone, yet. Wasn't that his line? Wasn't he supposed to smoothly ask her to his place? He wanted to go to his place. He liked his place. His place was safe and he could hide in his bedroom and cry if she rejected him later on and...and...if they, well, if she....

he swallowed nervously...

if she was still there in the morning, he would feel so much more confident knowing that he wouldn't throw himself (or anyone) out of his own apartment and try to forget the whole thing immediately after the alcohol had worn off and the hangover had set in. Though, to be honest, his head was far too fuzzy to actually go through that entire thought process. He mostly just knew his place was safe and comfortable and that he definitely wanted to go there but there was no way he could turn a beautiful woman down.

"I'd love to," he told her. "I mean, I think the bar is plenty interesting as long as you're in it but it would be nice to go somewhere...quieter."

Normally he might have been waiting for the other shoe to drop, convinced this was too good to be true. But, well, he wasn't going to question this, for sure so he just stood carefully, still holding onto her hand. "Shall we just head out then?" He pulled out enough money for both their drinks, and a small tip, and set it on the bar, before looking at her expectantly.

Not the warm welcome she would have hoped for, but then she guessed that pretty boy was gay or a total prude and the other man revealed he was married to some harpy. She could excuse them ignoring her, but only because Xeiro was giving her attention and had his arm around her, oh yes. This couldn't be going better in her book! Vi waved a free hand at the bartender as subtly as she could, motioning to the empty shot glass just in case someone missed the cue Xeiro gave. She didn't want him to run dry, not when alcohol seemed to encourage him towards the right girl for him~ Though, it seemed like pretty boy was trying to pull Xeiro away from her? Ugh, what was wrong with him? She shot him a quick look as she received her club soda (stupid bartender, stupid 'no drinking on the job' rules), “They're adults, I'm an adult, I don't see what your deal is.” She rolled her eyes at him to at least make it clear he was being such a 'bummer', since that seemed to be the word of the day for this group.

If you're jeal--” Before she finished that sentence, one of the 'friends' she didn't expect at all had suddenly come up and she had guard her territory because the slut was all over him, gross. She smiled at Quinn and tried to subtly maneuver her foot around Xeiro's so she could kick the living hell out of her and get her to stop holding Xeiro. “Hi, Quinn. I didn't think you would be here today.” She looked behind her at the boy tagging along for a curious moment before returning to shooting daggers at her coworker, “I'm happy you showed up, though! I don't think I caught his name,” He looked familiar – maybe an old classmate's father? Who knew? “But I think Mr. Prude over there is Eoin? Maybe you can help loosen those two up.” Was that pointed enough? Maybe she should have thrown in that nameless man was married – that would have probably tempted Quinn.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is receptionist your name too or..?” Theresa quipped after she sat down with them, nodding along as she listened to Nanami answer and then to the receptionist as he joined into the conversation too. Great, they both seemed pretty friendly! That was one thing off her list of what was necessary for a good night out, thing number two was already in her hand as she received a glass of whatever liquor Nanami was fond of, and now all she had left was to manage to ride a motorcycle while inebriated and not get herself killed on the way home.
Good year over here! Well, outside of my brother taking a one night stand to the garden, but we're keeping a close eye on him now, so that's taken care of.” Seriously, she didn't think she was ever going to let Kade live that episode down. She took a swig of her drink as she carried on, “Boys are back home on the couch, seem to be pretty healthy, outside of a bad case of laziness.” She paused to huff for a moment before pulling a grin out, “But I'm just gonna have to make the husband regret staying home. What's this you're drinking, Nanami?
Zeke laughed and nodded his head as he took another drink. "Don't get on the bad side of any of the performers, I hear they're a bit off." If he didn't know her yet, it was probably safe to assume he didn't know the rest of them. That made that an interesting tidbit, did it not? "Roustabout, huh? You should be up in the air performing! ...or on some sort of a stage performing!" Maybe that was too pushy or just mean. He probably didn't want to be a roustabout. "Though that's a pretty great job, too. It's very necessary. I've really got to stop by the circus sometime. I've not taken the time. I've been spending too much time just trying to work on my own things, I guess. But enough about work." He patted his hand on the table for some sort of emphasis. "What do you do in your spare time?" Yes, hobbies were good to know. That way he could tell if they were really meant to be friends or not. Though with the number of friends he currently had, he couldn't be too picky. Just then, someone else had made an appearance to join their lovely little group. "Hi. I'm Ezekiel. It's nice to meet you." He nodded his head and took another drink. Though, he wasn't sure that he was too much of a heavy hitter, it was nice to have another person around to liven up the place.
Luna was rolling her eyes at her dumb brother and staring off into the distance, deciding that their conversation was no longer worth her time. She was still catching a few words, none of which she cared to chime in on. Her head perked up a little when she heard the arrival of someone new to the group. "Thank the ******** goddess." She said with a large smile and patted the seat next to her. "I'd like to think of myself as a heavy hitter so it is great to have you around. Especially with the boring likes of these two." She motioned towards the others with a bit of a scowl. "Let's do this s**t!" Sure, it would probably be nicer if she had given the girl time enough to breathe before she started bellowing about how happy she was and demanding that round. But this night was not going any faster and she needed to get some more drinks, especially if it wasn't at her own cost.
Xeiro nodded over at Eoin as he stated the obvious. This guy sure seemed to like to note things, and not very interesting things. Just like the same old things that everyone knew. That sounded vaguely like someone he did not want to think about while looking at the rack on this babe. "That's what's so beautiful about it. We keep getting older and they stay the same age." It was just about the time that his gaze had fallen upon Vi's chest again when he felt the presence of someone new. He turned his head to see who it was and hellooooo boobies. His smile widened and he left his gaze for a few seconds before looking up to see the face, praying it wasn't hideous. Oh s**t, like that mattered. Look at them things! "Welcome to the party, I'm Xeiro." The face wasn't half bad, what a nice surprise. He took his freshly filled glass into his hand and downed another while listening to Vi's lovely little voice. Hmm, Quinn. That was an unusual name. Then again so was Vi... and Xeiro. They were all perfect and could totally go have a weird named threesome. Hey, Eoin was kind of a unique name too. Though he wasn't sure he wanted to have to bring him along. He laughed a little as Vi directed Quinn to the other two. Was she a little jealous? He leaned back slightly and tugged her into his lap. "Ah, the view is much better with you down here."
Tatyana had got a bit lost in that story. She was pretty sure that Murren's accent was getting worse, though it may be her own alcohol intake. What was that about some creature... with the cow? "Oh goodness, Murren." She had to hold her side from laughing so hard at that one. She could just picture the whole thing unfolding. Tiny little Murren hobbling out in the field and coming upon that scene, oh it was all just too much! "It sounds like you have some pretty great adventures while you're out there. I'm going to have to come visit you sometime!" She even had the perfect cowboy boots that she could wear. Yes, it would be a date. She smiled, happy that her side had finally stopped throbbing. She glanced around the area as a few more people entered and was happy to notice a new guy among them. He did look a bit young, but that normally just meant that they didn't know any better. These were two fine ladies here, after all. He should feel damn lucky. "I think I've spotted our first prey." She laughed, a little too loudly, before downing her drink and placing it back on the surface. She straightened her back and hopped out of her chair to march over to Morgan who was a whole lot larger than he had looked from over there. "Tatyana." She motioned her hand towards herself like the high and mighty princess she was, or y'know Tarzan, whatever. After her grand introduction, she grabbed his hand and pulled him back over to their side of the bar. "Look Murren. I found... what is your name? Ah, I guess it really doesn't matter. Entertain us!"
Eoin raised an eyebrow at Vi, giving her a charming smile. "Never fear, my dear. I believe there are enough 'loose' people at the table to more than make up for my lack thereof." In fact, he was certain that was true even before the other young woman showed up. Xeiro looked content though and Eoin was not one to grudge another man his pleasures, even if Eoin found them somewhat distasteful.
Still, he was incredibly grateful Angela did not act like these two women, going around cavorting with older men and the like--not that there was a problem with small age discrepancies, but Xeiro was old enough to be the father of either of those young ladies.
The again, neither seemed like a 'lady' to begin with so he probably shouldn't have particularly high expectations to start with.
Umi was actually surprised when someone spoke to her. She wasn't exactly a wallflower usually but somehow, she found it hard to approach people here. She was actually getting ready to pay for her drink and go home when a vaguely familiar guy slid up onto the bar stool next to her.
She was taken aback just for a split second before one hand went unconsciously to her hair. Umi smiled slightly. "Thank you. I would love some company."
Umi studied him for a moment. "You are familiar--have I see you at the gym? I think I remember that, yes?"
**
"I'd like to be," Gray said, smiling slightly. "But they don't always have the right positions available, you know? Well, I don't mind doing the heavy lifting either. It's work, that's what counts. I've had a lot worse. Spent a few years hiking across Europe and you wouldn't believe some of the jobs I had to get just to get by over there. It was fun though," he said, taking a long drink.
"Anyway, hobbies? I don't know. I play cards. I collect things? I mean, I travel a lot so I tend to pick up a lot of things here and there and just..I like having it all around me, you know? Memories and all that sentimental rubbish."
Well, and a lot of it was worth a lot, which made him really, really happy. Did money count as a hobby? "What about you then? What do you do when not keeping your lovely sister company at the bar?" Gray asked, nodding to the newcomer, who was instantly claimed by Lunesca.
"Weel, et's pretty fun at toimes, if'n yer follow me. Ne'er a dull moment. So yer can come o'er anytoime yer wan'" She sipped her drink while Tatyana vanished to go get a tall lad and pull him over. Good lord, he was tall! Was there something in the water here? She watched Tatyana drag him over and immediately called the bartender over. "Brin' th' gent a drink if'n yer please!" she called, far too loudly as she downed her own and poured another.
She swiveled on her stool to smile at Morgan. "Wanna play a game? O'course yer do! Pull oop a stool an' let's get started!"
"Ah'm Murren. Et's Noice ter meet yer!"
Maybe it was the alcohol working its way up into her brain, but Nanami was really really pleased to be spending New Year's with her friends! ....err, or her employee and client. Close enough! She should probably take it a little easy with the drinks, she wasn't as young as she was and there was a fine line between drunk and hungover at her age. For now, she just smiled at her tablemates as they reacquainted themselves. "A one night stand? Which brother?" she asked in a burst of interest; she wasn't the best gossip and always seemed to hear everything last. Haruka was a treasure trove of information, but it took a lot of effort to weasel it out of her. "That is a lot more interesting than my year, you've got me beat." Her grin turned to a supportive smile as Tess continued on to talk about her son and husband; she had raised a teenager too, so she knew how withdrawn they could be, but husbands were something she had no experience with. "Well, I'm glad I get to steal you away," she replied before looking down at her glass. "This? Oh... vodka... I think?" she laughed merrily. "That probably shouldn't be such a tricky question, maybe I should take a break. But what about you two? Any plans for the morning?"
Asserting that his nice words weren't just flattery flattered Yuri even more, and by this point she was so drunk off her own ego that she probably didn't need to drink anymore. Still, that didn't stop her from finishing off her third drink of the night -- or was it the fourth? Eh, she couldn't remember -- before sliding down off her stool. It was a lot harder than it seemed, her legs were a little wobbly and all of a sudden the heels she had worn didn't seem like such a great idea afterall, and she was trying to sling her purse over her shoulder with one hand. She probably came very close to reenacting his own spill, but she caught herself, thankfully. They were holding hands, and yanking him down to the ground along with her would really hurt her chances of getting lucky. Clearing her throat, she composed herself and smiled up at him. "After you," she agreed, breathless from her close encounter with death (or at least humiliation).
Quinn’s s**t-eating grin grew when she felt the oh-so subtle hint to scram. Felt. Yeap. She was quite aware of the love taps Vi was throwing at her, and she reveled in it. It was a bit of a shame though. Vi wasn’t even close to this man’s level, and here she was trying to grasp at empty straws. Pft. Her coworker should have known better, but still, she was young. She’d learn that she could do much better. Then again, because of the fact that Vi didn’t, these two were absolutely perfect for each other.
It was exactly why she didn’t regret her next move. Since Vi had been pulled into Xeiro’s lap, that made things easier on her. She easily shifted closer to Xeiro before smashing her lips against Vi’s. That’s right. Vi. After all, what else was a better way to piss her coworker off? Well, she could have gone for the obvious, but nah. “Well, look at the time. I’ve got to kiss and run. I’ll be seeing you later, Vi, and gentlemen? I hoped you enjoyed that little show.” She gave them a playful wink before she got the <********> out of there. After all, she wasn’t stupid. While it might have been fun to get into a catfight with Vi, those nails of hers looked nasty.
.:l Beep l:.
Oh! She did remember him after all. Briar beamed as he waved over an NPC to bring them both drinks. He wasn’t all too sure what to order, but hey, spontaneity made him all the more manly. “Drinks on me, and you got that right. We never really talked, but I thought that now would be a good time. After all, better late than never right?”
When the drinks came by, he took a small sip from his glass, ignoring the small voice in the back of his head telling him not to. “Speaking of which, I never got your name or your number. Haha, I’m kidding. I didn’t mean the first part. I mean last part. Last part.” He mainly snickered to himself over his blunder. Maybe he shouldn’t have drank, but he~y, that’s what the macho people did. “I’m not hitting on you, but I have to admit that you are very pretty. Wait, did I say that last part out loud? Or was it that time that I said it out loud? Hmmm.” And so, Briar spent his time wisely making a fool out of himself after getting plastered from one sip of alcohol.
.:l Beep l:.
And away Morgan went, already being kidnapped by some cougar woman, because it wasn’t like he could actually say no to stranger danger. It seemed even more unlikely that he could quietly slip away since there were both Murren At least, that’s what he thought her name was. What was she even saying to him? and Tatyana that their attentions on him. “Name’s Morgan.” He forced a smile onto his face--Woah! Was that Quinn running out of the bar out of the corner of his eyes? Yes! That meant that he was free from being obligated to stay at the bar, but wait, nevermind. He was stuck entertaining these two drunk women. “So, what’s this game that we’re playing?”
.:l Beep l:.
Now that was what he wanted to hear. Screw those guys. Kim was going to have fun getting plastered with whatsherface here! He seated himself next to the girl, nodding with a wide grin of approval when she got straight to business with the drinks. When the first round appeared, Kim merely chugged it down in a single gulp before shouting out with the same loudness the other had earlier. “Keep those shots coming!”
He glanced back over at his drinking partner and smirked. “Or do you think you can’t handle it?”
clic clic clic clic The soft echo of hooves grew louder and louder, approaching the bar's front door. Then there was silence before whimpers and excited barks beckoned the last of this trio to hurry up. "aarrf aarrf arrf" "Damn it, Okami! Keep your fur on." The stern, grouchy voice of Ash snapped as he stomped up to the bar door and flung it open forcefully. Hazel eyes with a narrowed glare scanned the first floor area as Kim shouted something about another round of drinks.
Ash fixed his glare to the group seating nearby while stepping over to the counter and barstools. Meanwhile a blur of red fur scampered across the floor with light, quick movements. Obediently the shepherd/collie followed at his master's side with the most playful grin on his muzzle. Beady eyes greeted Kim and the other, tail wagging to and fro. "aarrf aarrf" "Okami, heel..." Ash growled and sat himself on one of the vacant bar stools. A huff escaped from his lips as he reached up to ruffle his hair. Silently hazel orbs peered around to see all who were present while trying to evesdrop on a conversation or two. Doing a quick head count he made sure to keep aware of any islanders coming or going.
"Bartender!" this stablehand shouted outloud while glancing around impatiently. It was evident that he wasn't in the best of moods and came to drown his sorrows in a drink or two. "You or your staff fetch me your best whisky." Just for those few seconds he took his attention away from Okami. His canine companion ceased this opportunity to explore. New sights, smells, and sounds filled his senses - peeking his curiosity. Without second thought he pawed over to Kim's table in a friendly pup manner. Whimpers lingered in the air as he approached, then stopped to sit upright on his hunches in a begging pose. But all this dog begged for was affection and friendship.
Eoin watched as the two young women appeared to fight over Xeiro's attention. Not, of course, that the man wasn't inviting it with his own behavior. But then, this was a bar. It's not like Eoin had been expecting a tea party. At least Xeiro seemed pretty honest regarding his personal interests. Eoin could respect that. Sort of.
What he couldn't respect was the cat fight spawning in front him, much less when one of the young women snogged the other rather abruptly. Not that Eoin was completely immune to the charms of beautiful young women behaving in a lewd manner--he was a red blooded male, after all. But this little show was absolutely not to his taste in the slightest. He finished his drink, setting the glass on the table, along with enough money to pay for it, and then some.
"Gents, it was truly a pleasure," he said, nodding as he stood. "Girls," he added, nodding to the two females. They sure as hell weren't ladies so that was about as polite an acknowledgement as they would get from him today. With that, he picked up his coat and headed out of the bar, nodding politely to the bar tender on his way out.
Her number? He was asking for her number? Really? He was the first male on the island to ask for her number or show even the slightest interest! Granted, he was practically a midget, but he was cute and she wasn't really picky about that sort of thing. And yes, he did say he was joking but she didn't care, dammit. All she wanted was someone to hang out with and have drinks with sometimes.
Umi took a sip of her drink, smiling at Briar over the top of her glass. "Umi Farouk. And it is a pity it was a joke. I was just about to offer to give you my number. But if you don't want it....?"
As they spoke, it seemed the count down to the new year took place and the room was filled with cheering and such. Umi, finished her drink and grabbed a stray pen that some NPC had dropped on the bar. She scrawled her name and number on the napkin and pushed it to Briar as she stood. "Call me sometime!" she told him as she waved and headed out, wanting to beat the inevitable rush for the door.
...Well. This had not been the sort of evening Yue had been hoping for. Sitting alone at a bar was not what she would deem a worthwhile activity, but considering the other people who were there with her, perhaps she was lucky that she was being left alone. Basically, for most of that night, she had been sitting alone, ordering several glasses of wine, and loathing every person in that bar. They were noisy, they were falling over the place, and they were just so stupid. Partially it was her own fault; of course a place with a goddamn western theme would attract the uncouth masses. The NPC bartender had tried to initiate a conversation once, but the look on her face had had him rethinking that plan. Yue could be fun, sometimes, but when she was truly having a terrible time, she was not good company in the slightest.
She really was about to go crazy (though things had gotten a little more bearable once the two at the bar next to her left to go make out behind a park bench or whatever it was drunk, horny desperates did oh goddess don't let them reproduce) and was very close to storming out of there when someone new (Ash) sat down at the bar, not too far from where Yue herself was perched. ...wait, was that a dog? Yue's mouth fell open as she looked at them. Who in the world brought an animal into a place that serves food? Maybe if he had quietly had a drink, Yue would have recovered from her horror and left in judgmental silence. But then he had to shout, at a bartender who was literally no more than six feet away from him. Maybe the man didn't mean any wrong, but Yue was at the end of her rope and this was just the tug she needed to snap. Also the three glasses of wine she had had probably didn't help.
"You're bothering the other customers," Yue snapped at Ash, her expression practically dripping with disapproval. "Don't you have any tact?" Pot, meet kettle.
