Kleos: HP: 30/30 Attack: 1d4+3 Damage: 4
Shards! There was no hope for it now, and they were so close! Kleos drew her knife and turned on the wherholder woman, lunging forward savagely. Their only hope in this matter was speed; break eggs where they could, take down the woman, and shards the gold too if they could, and then run. "Stand fast friends, we can still triumph!" she called to her comrades. Was her decision wise? Should she have ordered them to flee for their lives? She didn't know, she never knew really when it came down to it.

F'itz HP: 30/30 Attack: 1d4+3 Damage: 5
Nothing for it then. Heart sinking F'itz drew his blade and turned to face the wherholder woman along with Kleos. He wasn't a pessimist, that was all Brumath, but he was a realist... and realistically he didn't expect that all of them would walk out of here. The best they could hope for was capture rather than death.

Etasha HP: 30/30 Attack: 1d4+3 Damage: 6 ---
They were all going to die.
I'm sorry, Ryx. But the wingleader wasn't retreating, which meant that Etasha couldn't retreat either. If Xanha was going to run, that was her prerogative - she was a dolphineer, the dragonriders didn't have a hold over her. But if Etasha ran, even if she got back to Trine to explain they'd abandoned a wingleader in the bowels of Benden...
Grimly, Etasha lunged forward and attacked the woman.

Xanha - Attacking Wherholder HP: 30/30 1d4 + 3 - 4 damage
Shards - wrong turn! Faranth, how did these things keep happening!?
The woman's shout and the pounding of boots, as well as the gleam of the gold down the tunnel elicited a hiss of surprise from Xanha. Acting instinctively, the way she might have confronted by a feral animal on one of the more remote beaches around Trine, she went for the knife in her boot, coming up in a single smooth motion, knife out as she turned to the woman who had tried to stop her. For the time-being, she wasn't attacking, though. Her eyes flickered to the gold wher, back to the woman as the dragonriders went after her. Three dragonriders, all going after the guard - was she the gold's handler? If not, they'd have a whole other kettle of fish on their hands.
"If I die, someone tell Ajax what happened!" she barked, casting her gaze to the dragonriders, and then she lunged at the guard. Faranth, she was going to die in the caverns at Benden. Still, the sooner they took this woman out, the better.

The wherholder woman shrieked in pain and shock as blade after blade sank into her flesh, and tried in vain to defend herself. The gold wher in her cavern bellowed and charged, determined to defend her eggs and the human woman, though whether or not the woman was her handler wasn't possible for the Trine folk to determine for sure. ------ Wherholder HP: 9/25 Defence: 1d8 Damage taken: (4 + 5 + 6 + 4) - 3 = 16

Kleos - Attacking wherholder HP: 16/30 Attack: 1d4+3 Damage: 4
The gold's claws raked across her back, tearing fresh wounds and re-opening ones she had taken recently. The scarred women couldn't repress a cry of pain, or keep herself from stumbling awkwardly forward. She could still plan though, yes, planning was all they had. Four of them, four humans working together. They could do this!
"F'itz, you are to keep us on our feet! Move in with bandages where you can," she ordered quickly. "We take the woman first, then the wher. Take heart friends, we fight for what is just!" With that she lunged at the reeling woman again, telling herself that she was only doing what was necessary.

F'itz - Healing Kleos with a bandage!
The grey-haired rider cringed as the gold wher leapt out, cringed again at the words coming out of the wingleader's mouth. It was all well and good to be so certain you were right, but he didn't have her apparent confidence that everything would come out alright for them. They were deep down in the caverns, and escape would be a miracle.

Etasha HP: 30/30 Attack: 1d4+3 Damage: 5 ---
Fortunately it seemed the human opponent wasn't up for much. Etasha moved in and struck at her again, expression grim. But the arrival of the gold wher took her by surprise, and she cursed under her breath as it practically mauled Kleos. "Shells - how do you fight something that size?"

Xanha - Attacking Wher HP: 30/30 1d4 + 3 - 4 damage
It reminded Xanha a little bit of how dolphins did it.
Admittedly, Xanha had seen dolphins hunt before - when confronted with a larger fish or a predator, they were relentless, ganging up, attacking repeatedly until the opponent fell - but this was different. Dolphins almost never attacked anything with human-level intelligence. This was another human, and a wher. Both of them were intelligent, just as intelligent as dolphins, maybe more. When the wherholder fell, the dolphineer felt none of the victory Kleos seemed to be experiencing. Instead, she winced - and then tried to cry out an alarm that was too late as the gold went for the crimsonrider.
Faranth, they were going to die in these tunnels. Even if they succeeded in killing the wher, destroying the eggs - there was no way they'd be able to get out alive. She should have said a better goodbye to Ajax.
Still, when Etasha turned to the gold wher, attacked to harry it - Xanha jumped in as well, aiming like a dolphin. n** at its flanks, then dart away, that was what she wanted. But she wasn't stupid enough to try and slash through a wher's hide. Instead, she moved from behind, aiming to slash at the wings rather than at the body. "Confuse it! Cause it pain!" Humans were more maneuverable than the enormous animal, and if they could set it rampaging, they had a chance at winning. "Go for the eyes!"

Wherholder HP: 6/25 Defence: 1d8 Damage taken: 5 + 4 = 9 - 6 = 3 The wherhold woman tried again to defend herself, ducking out of the way of Kleos' knife but feeling the bite of Etasha's. "You won't get away with this!" she gasped.

Kleos - Attacking wherholder HP: 19/30 (+3 healed by bandage!) Attack: 1d4+3 Damage: 6
"Aim for its eyes and throat!" Kleos cried in response to Etasha, lunging again for the wherholder. Once the woman was out of the way she could focus all of her energy on the gold wher. Shards, and only four of them to face this test. If they escaped with their lives she would see to it that her brave comrades were recognised and rewarded as they deserved for coming to this good-forsaken place.
Shards! The gold was past her now, lunging at F'itz. She tried to cry a warning but it was too late, the beast was already on top of him.

F'itz - Dodge! HP: 21/30 Dodge: 1d8 Damage taken: 11 - 2 = 9
No sooner had he finished roughly binding Kleos' shoulder then the gold wher decided that he was the one to go for. The old rider tried to dive aside, hissed between his teeth as he felt the wher's claws tear into his left side. He wasn't young a foolish enough for this venture, why had he agreed to come? What had he believed he would gain? There was nothing to be gained here save perhaps a death that would be remembered and honoured by a few.
