Theresa chuckled at the man's assertion over his marital status – honestly, she hadn't been wondering or hoping for anything different. The guy didn't exactly look like her type – but, hey, maybe he was just proud of having a wife and didn't mean to imply anything further. It didn't bother her much as she casually leaned forward to get on level with the little girl as her father coaxed her into speaking. To her surprise, the little one didn't pipe up – Brian had always been a loud brat, but, well, she guessed every kid was different. She vaguely recalled Junior when he first arrived into the family and that boy had been a little mouse too. She shook her head as she straightened up, deciding to focus on the one who actually seemed comfortable with chatting.
“It's cool. I've raised a kid before too, I know how they are.” A bit of a lie, but anything to help the guy ease up. She hooked her thumbs into her pockets as she introduced herself, “I'm Tess, work at the ranch out here. Horses – cool, right? Though the circus sorta upstages us with their tiger. When the kid was still in school, the lion tamer, I guess, brought her tiger around for the kids to play with. Brian didn't go anywhere near it, but not everyone can see a good time when it comes to them, right?” She paused for a moment, realizing she was prattling on without giving the poor guy a chance to respond. She momentarily cursed the Waldroup genes silently before throwing a grin at him, “Sorry – what about you? What's your story?”

Consider it? Xochiquetzal frowned slightly at the woman – no. She was supposed to simply say yes and allow her obvious better to move on and find the next individual to convince into voting for her. She didn't expect she would have to actually.. work for it.. She already felt herself grow sleepy, though not in the panicky sense that would have sent her searching for a comfortable landing spot. She was just bored with the idea of it and she tried to convey that silently with her aura, though she doubted Miah was capable of such a thing. ..Even if.. the girl claimed to be her.. rival..? That struck her as strange as she examined the girl – the Goddess couldn't have.. sent her a rival in this form..?
She creased her brow and slowly opened her mouth, still uncertain on what to say in response, “Are you.. challenging me..? I.. do not believe that is very wise.. I can only accept the most.. worthy of rivals for this title..” After all, the extent to which Xochiquetzal would go to assure her victory was a little.. well, intense. Miah was unlikely to be capable of handling it – though she wouldn't hesitate with Tshila, had she been paying enough attention to hear who the real victor had been. Lucky for the winner, Xochiquetzal's attention was entirely on Miah in that moment.

Ah. He wasn't surprised – Ed hardly knew anyone that didn't stop by the library and, even then, he didn't really go out of his way to get to know them. In fact, he often forget them before the day was out. He was just a little pleased to know she wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon, not that he would show that or acknowledge it much. He did raise a brow at her story, but, again, didn't find it surprising at all. After what the lunatic had just done with him, chasing a pigeon across a stranger's lap wasn't very outlandish. Plus, they certainly had a few people around the island who would do something similar and have in the past.
“You haven't lived here long.” He commented after she introduced herself, approving that she hadn't followed her father's career. A private investigator was interesting.. But it did make him cautious as to why she was actually talking to him. The small smile that was forming dropped and he nodded slowly at her next comment. “It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Angela. I would be happy to show you the library, but you may be disappointed. A majority of our library is less than acceptable literature.” Actually, he would be more happy to see her library, since he was getting bored with the books in the public one. There wasn't much funding to get new ones and Ed had neither the time or energy to try to obtain some. He paused a moment, debating on whether he should leave it at that or.. Oh, to hell with it. “You enjoy reading?”

Todd's eyebrow lifted as he turned his head back to Christine. "Then I guess you're mine, sweet thing." Well that did not sound nearly as smooth coming out as he had thought. Whatever. It was already out there and he would ride it out because the alternative was not very good. He would end up stumbling over his words and trying to act as though he had said something super suave. There was always the possibility that he would say something even worse, so sweet thing it was. Without missing a beat, he placed his hand on her back and grabbed for her hand with the other. He'd be damned if he gave her any time to really think about what he had said. If he kept this thing moving, there was a chance that he could woo her into forgetting.
It had been quite some time since he had properly danced, but there were some things that you really never forgot. He began leading her out to the dancing floor, remaining careful with his steps. She felt very delicate in his hands and he felt like he needed to be very careful. Though it might be to his advantage if she were to require some more therapy. "We might need to be a little more conservative than the usual tango." He smiled, taking the chance to look down at her.

Morgan smiled and cautiously turned his head towards the other man. He felt relieved at how nice this man was being about all of this. It seemed possible that someone could be understanding of him, after all. Maybe he should start being more trusting of people. Okay, no. That was a bit too extreme. Desensitization was no way for him to handle his life or his fears. The process of going to the vet would probably be good for him. He could maybe talk to a receptionist. Maybe someone would have their own pets there. Oh goddess. What if they had like a tiger or a big dog or something. The thought almost made him shiver. When the man's hands rose, Morgan couldn't catch himself in time to prevent the jumping. His eyes widened and his heart rate quickened in fear. At first, he had thought the man was going to strike him, but he quickly realized that he was just gesturing. Morgan could take lessons from this. Gesturing was a good way for most to get their point across, but it was so different. He was used to clutching his hands in his lap or stuffing them in his pockets, using them for anything else was just odd.
He let out a sigh of relief before speaking again. "I fully understand and would appreciate it greatly if you would look after them. I do not believe that they are experiencing any problems, but I would hate for something to be hiding. I believe that you are fully capable. If you have been able to shown such kindness to a human such as I, it is probable that you will show kindness to my pets as well." Humans were the worst of all creation, after all. Their cruelty and hatred for each other was something that was simply horrible. His own hatred was one thing he still couldn't understand, but life was all about the journey of learning.

Xeiro was about to show Tshila the next step of the dance when the greatest of all announcements ever was made. He dropped his arms to his side as his mouth fell open. "Tshila. Tshila, did I just hear that right? Tshila, did we win?" Somehow, saying her name repeatedly was going to help this situation. When the crowns and sash were given to them, he gladly knelt down to receive them. It was like he was being knighted. A smile much bigger than he thought possible crossed over him before he stood. He turned to look at Tshila, allowing it all to sink in. A free date? With a room at the inn? And dinner? Oh hells yes. They were going to absolutely destroy that room. "Did you hear that, Tshila? We get a free room at the inn." Screw the dinner. All he needed was the room. His brow twitched several times to drive home the point to her, just in case she didn't realize what he was getting at.

Oh this was just too good. What Riley had initially blown off, was now becoming more enticing. It would be so much fun to get the two of them together. Elliot would be utterly confused, and Finnian would be squealing. Ah, that would perhaps be the best thing that Riley could ever experience. The look on Finnian's face was simply priceless, and his insults were almost just as good. "Oh I would love for you to destroy my playhouse." He said with a wink, "I must warn you, though. I'm used to doing the destroying myself, so I might buck a little." He wanted to reach out and grab for Finnian as he hid behind the tree, but it was just too easy. Making him squirm the hard way was much more satisfying. As Finnian instructed Elliot to run, Riley forced a frown on his face. "Now, now, Super Kuiper. You can't just run off after getting me all worked up." Now that the chance of Finnian's escape was real, he just had to do something. He used his cane to latch onto his cape tied around his neck.

Zelynity wasn't going to stand here and converse about work with him. She could easily do that over the phone or a letter or anything. There was no real need to stand here and make a fool out of herself if they weren't going to do much real talking. She had thought that maybe everything could be instantly patched up, but it was just too hard. She was about to tell him that this was all a mistake and maybe she'd see him at church or something when he changed the course of the conversation. Dancing? Hmm. So, maybe dancing actually sounded really, really nice. "I think I'd like that." She stepped forward and took his hand as she walked by to the center. It had seemed like second nature, but once she had done it, she felt a little shocked. She thought about releasing him, but realized that that would probably be a little more awkward. Plus, it felt kind of nice. "Shall we?" She smiled over at him, allowing him to take the first steps. There was nothing sexier than a man taking charge. That would be really good for him right now, especially since she was considerably taller than him in these heels.

January hadn't really had a mother or father around to teach her a lot of things about life and manners and how to deal with people. Her father, when he did care to interact with her, had given her some advice but not a lot of it had been applicable so far, mainly because she had yet to kidnap a potential spouse and other things like that. Her mother had tried to teach her things like balancing a checkbook and how to change a tire, but why would she need to know things like that when she was a Sonata? But because of this inconsistent childhood, she wasn't entirely sure what to do when an attractive hobo asked one to dance. Her gut instinct wasn't do her much good because she was so confused, but she felt it would be unladylike to turn him down when he had asked so humbly... "...Fine," she sniffed, trying to look haughty but instead looking rather timid. "I will allow you one dance... But only one. And if you step on my shoes, you will have to pay, because they are antiques and very valuable." And with that kind? agreement, she took his hand and allowed him to lead her to the dance floor. Hopefully her face would return to its normal shade soon.

Of course Chloe was new! When you had been living on the island for as long as Peter had, you got used to the constant flow of people in and out of the town. It seemed that every person he was meeting nowadays were new! No wonder he didn't have many friends outside of Wilhelm, they were always moving away. "You can really do it from anywhere, there aren't many lights even in the center of town, luckily enough," he began thoughtfully, wracking his brain for every childhood memory of going stargazing. Where had they gone? The beach was nice but it was windy and cold at night. The fields were nice and spacious, but they were obstructed by the mountain and the surrounding forest so it was tricky if you weren't looking straight up. "Have you ever hiked up to the top of the mountain? It's dangerous at night, so I wouldn't recommend going alone, but the view is very nice, and you can see the whole sky from up there. It's quite spectacular," he smiled and nodded, pleased with his answer. "Oh, but it's a bit of a hike, so it might be too far for you to carry your telescope, wouldn't it? I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking." Or, at least, he had been pleased with his answer, until his personality caught up with his brain.
春春春
...Well. This had taken an interesting turn. One moment Elliot was looked for her lip balm in her pockets, and the next her feet were leaving the ground. She was a middle-aged woman and here she was, dangling from her housemate's grasp. Finnian wanted her to... climb that tree? "Finnian, I can't," she replied, speaking softly not because she was returning his stage whisper, but because that was just the natural volume of her voice. "I'm not... strong enough... to climb..." Even though she typically was as flat and emotionless as clean white wall, she was obviously growing distressed as Finnian shifted her higher up towards the tree, his hands pushing painfully into her torso as he held her -- what was it called, princess style? "Finnian, please... it hurts..."
春春春
Oh! So she was a mother! Will hadn't met a lot of mothers as an adult. He knew his own mother, of course, but that was pretty much the extent of it. It was a little exciting, his first fellow parent! Maybe her child was at school with Juliette? Their first family friend! He was a little confused by her story about the tiger, but he still laughed softly at the end of her anecdote because he had learned that people liked it when you laughed at lighthearted anecdotes. "It's nice to meet you, Tess. I'm Will. This is Scarlette." He jiggled his arm at the mention of his daughter, who let out a small whine in protest. "We just moved here. Not just me and Lettie, I have a wife too. And another daughter! She's six. Almost seven. All four of us, we're new. My wife isn't, though! She lived here when she was younger. I don't know if you've met her before, I don't think she was the most social when she was here," he laughed before hastily adding, "Please don't tell her I said that," in a hushed voice. "You said you have a kid? How old is he? Or she? What grade? Maybe Juliette knows him! Or her."

That came as no surprise to Finnian, but the 'buck' comment had confounded him more than he'd like to admit. But, he wasn't going to allow himself to be distracted by what was obviously a nonsensical statement to catch him off guard! Besides, his attention was more focused on Elliot and having her escape first so he could run as far and fast as he could possibly manage. Which should have already happened, to be honest, and he was even more confused to see her responding in what he could only consider distress. He.. he was certain that this was Tigress, so why.. did she seem honestly confused..? Was she simply that good of an actor? Or did he have the wrong girl? He felt his stomach flop at the very idea that he could be participating in kidnapping an innocent bystander – look how scared she was! He paled and forced himself not to drop her out of panic, “Ellio- Uh, I deeply, deeply apologize, I thought you were..?”
He was going to gently set her down and get to the bottom of the look alike who also knew his secret identity somehow, when he felt the string of his cape begin to strangle him. Was this Gilded Hellion's secret powers?! Turning his own clothing against him? Super Kuiper yanked on the string that held his cape up, undoing the tie and, in the process, dropping Elliot. “Elliot!” He said once he was freed of the evil cape, eyes wide as he suffered from the conflict of helping the damsel to her feet or facing the villain that lead him to harming her. In the end, Justice won out. He turned to face Gilded Hellion, furiously pointing an accusatory finger at him, “Harming innocent bystanders that may or may not be my teammates will not trick me into playing your games, Hellion! Leave this innocent woman alone or I will be forced to alert the authorities to your plans!” An empty threat, considering Super Kuiper knew the authorities to be little more than soldiers for the mayor to enact her heinous whims and would never go to them, but he would much rather avoid violence if he could! Out of concern for the villain, of course! For Super Kuiper cared for all the city's citizens, even the evil ones!

Yes. Jacob silently gave himself a pat on the back as she took his hand, though he would have probably enjoyed it better if he had been the one to do it – but.. Well, it was good either way. He still made the right decision with offering to dance and he could be happy about that! He grinned proudly as he strode behind her, up until they reached the center and she had stopped to let him take over. Not that that was a problem; Jacob was grateful she hadn't emasculated him by forcing him to give up the lead, but.. He didn't know exactly what he was supposed to be doing. It took a second of digging for memories of proms during high school for him to do much of anything and another second to wonder what to do with their linked hands.
..He didn't have to let go, yeah? It wasn't weird or creepy to just keep holding it, especially since she hadn't let go herself! Resolved, he set his free hand to her waist and cautiously adjusted their hands so he could hold hers comfortably while swaying to the music. “You have beautiful eyes, Zell.” He pointed out as he kept them from bumping into anyone else. “I wish I could see them this close all the time.” Wait. No, that was going to make her think he wanted to keep her eyes in a jar or something. “All of you looks good tonight, so I wish I could see everything this close all the time. Uh. Yeah. You're pretty.”

Wow, did she get a wrong read on him the first go! Will seemed to be a pretty talkative guy once he got going, which worked well with Tess. She relaxed more and more as he went on about himself, following it up with a series of questions for her that she kept track of with ease. She chuckled and nodded along with him until she had a chance to speak, pleased she didn't have to carry this conversation on her own.
“I probably don't know your wife – I haven't been too social around here either. Though, my brother might, his address book for people around this town looks like a mile thick. I wouldn't be surprised if he met her before.” She'd have to ask him later. “Don't worry, your secret's safe with me.” She lifted her hands up, palms out as she said that, putting them back down as she moved on to talk about her own kid. “If your little girl's six, I don't think she'd have met Brian. I hope not, at least.” She chuckled and explained, “He just hit eighteen, about to be nineteen in a few weeks. I look too young to have a kid that old, right?” She added with a grin, raising her brows proudly. A baby face was a frustrating thing to have when you were twenty six and still being carded at bars, but it was pretty nice in her forties!

Sonata? She was related to that nasty cow of a mayor? Really? Sethrian found that hard to believe. Not only did they not look alike, but this woman was actually nice. Then again, the last time he'd spoken to a Sonata, it had ended with him throwing her in the ocean. He might be a little jaded. He decided to just leave that subject alone for the time being. "Yes, I work at the bakery as one of the bakers," he said. It might go without saying, but then again, he could always have been a waiter or something. He gave her a slight smile--not a real one, really, but more of a hint of a smile. "You don't need my permission to stop by," he pointed out. "That is why the bakery is there. I suspect my boss wouldn't appreciate my warning away potential customers."She seemed really excited about his working there. Maybe she just really liked baked goods? Maybe it was a point of common interest? He loved food after all--that was why he spent years studying it so he could get into the industry. But it was kind of weird to ask if she liked food considering everyone did to at least some degree. Ugh. Why did he suck at conversations so incredibly much? No wonder he was practically a lonely old hermit. ** "Not an extremely long time," Angela said. "But longer that it feels like I have." Damn. She still knew almost no one on the island and barely got out of the house. So pathetic considering that they'd been here for a couple of years now. She was a bit surprised when Ed said the library didn't have much acceptable literature. That was...odd. It didn't seem particularly small from the outside so it should have a decent selection. She was really curious what sort of books it actually had now. "Perhaps I can make a donation then, so you can add some better books?" she offered. It was actually a serious offer. It was just weird to have a library that didn't have good books and it wasn't like her father would object to donating a decent sum to the library--it was a worthy cause and, hey, tax deductions and all that. Bonus. "Actually I love to read," she said. "I spent a lot of time sick as a child so I couldn't be as active as other children--I picked up art, but sometimes I was too sick for even that. So I read quite a lot--it's one of the reasons we have a fairly large library. Though the one here is really small compared to the one my grandparents have..."
Ugh. That just sounded like bragging, didn't it? It was true though. The library at their mansion was big enough to get lost in if you weren't careful. ** "Hmm. Well, conservative isn't something I do well," Christine teased. "Besides, I think I can handle one night of dancing. If I need a few extra therapy sessions later, I'm absolutely certain I'll be in good hands." She moved close, pressing against him as she put her left hand around his left shoulder, took his right hand in hers. She slid one leg along side his, smirking up at him as she wrapped the other around his hip. "And there's no point in this dance unless you go all out."She might have been worried she was coming on too strong but Todd didn't seem to mind it, so she wasn't going to back down. Besides, she hadn't had any real fun since coming here. It couldn't hurt to let loose for a change. And last she looked, her little babysitter was distracted. So she was going to make the most of this moment for sure. ** Okay, this guy was a totally legit basket case, Trevor realized. Worse than Seth. Then again, Seth wasn't a basket case. He was just crabby. "Well, it's my job," Trev said, chuckling slightly. "I like to think I'm pretty good at it. Anyway, I sometimes bring Maggie up to the office while I'm working. If you'd like to meet her, I can be sure to keep her around. She'd probably love to met you--she loves people but hasn't gotten a chance to meet a whole lot of others while we've been here. And you know, she hasn't met any other dogs either--can't let the little roll mop be a hermit, can I? Oh! She's my dog, by the way. Can't remember if I already mentioned her name."He didn't know why he'd offered that, really. Other than that the man seemed like he was probably more comfortable with animals and Maggie was a gentle giant. Having her there might quell his anxiety a bit and help him handle the whole being out in public thing more. Maggie was a great distraction. ** Oh hey! Their silly dance was interrupted by their being named the winner for the contest thingie! That was totally cool! And not just because she got a crown. Crowns were great! "Whoa! This is totally cool!" she said, as she tried to get the little tiara to stay on her head. Man, how did beauty queens make this look so easy? Those little comb-y things on the ends were not helping at all. "Oooh! A free room?" her eyes lit up as she thought of the possibilities there. Because, well, her apartment was pretty small, and her fold out bed was kind of...delicate. And Xeiro was kind of a bit of a mountain. And her shower was completely tiny, on top of that so that ruled out just relocating there. And, well, the thing with his house was that it was totally huge and awesome but there were other people living there so that made it kind of, you know, awkward. So being alone in a place where they didn't have to worry about it being cramped or occupied by other people they had to not disturb was totally cool. Even if she sounded like kind of a pervert just thinking about it...but hey! She was a healthy young woman. It was totally normal to want to, you know, be with the guy she liked and all that. She grinned up at him. "I totally heard that and I think it'll be...fun. Maybe I'll finally get to show you just how flexible I really am," she teased. ** "I can promise you, I would never step on such beautiful shoes--particularly when they are on the equally beautiful feet of the most lovely young woman on the island" Gray said, as he twirled January around and pulled her close...ish. Not too close though--he had the feeling she'd bolt if he didn't keep a respectful distance. And even if he wasn't really that much of a gentleman, he was at least trying his hardest to pretend to be. So he made sure that, even as he set his hand on her hip, he ensured there was enough space between their bodies that she would be comfortable. " And," he added, "I can assure that I am an excellent dancer." He started to lead her around the dance floor at a moderately paced waltz. Saying he was an excellent dancer, was probably a bit of a stretch. He was a fair dancer, at least, though. And he most definitely did not step on toes. "So January," he said, leaning close enough for her to at least hear him properly. "Tell me about yourself--surely a woman as lovely and charming as yourself must also be incredibly interesting as well. I should love to get to know you better."** " That is true," Chloe said. "Though I suppose the houses might get in the way of certain patches of sky." She thought over his words. The mountain top was most definitely the obvious choice. But hiking up there might be a bit beyond her. She didn't exactly have a lot of stamina. Especially carrying a telescope. But if she had someone with her... And besides, since when was stargazing a fun activity when you were alone? "Perhaps I should try the beach instead," she replied with a smile. " I'm afraid I might not be fit enough for a hike to the top of the mountain. But even at the beach, it would undoubtedly be more pleasant with pleasant company. Would you like to join me there some evening, for a bit of amateur stargazing, Peter?"

Persephone blinked. That was a little bit more information than she had bargained for. Claire's life was beginning to sound like something out of a soap opera... Or, at least, something that seemed like it could be in a soap opera? Persephone had never actually seen a soap opera, so she couldn't for the life of her understand why that was immediately what she had thought of. "That sounds like it sucks." What else could she even say? She had never been in that sort of a situation. "Still, I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. Everyone has something to offer." It was a horrible attempt at encouragement really. Too vague. "Besides, if they're family, and they don't want you, then they probably don't deserve you, you know?" She scratched the back of her head, leaving her hair ruffled. This was incredibly awkward. But what could one expect? This girl had literally just picked her out of a crowd to ask if she knew some random person, and was now telling her her life story? Well, life story was a bit of an overstatement. It wasn't really that much information, just more than Persephone would probably reveal to a complete stranger, even with a prompt. "Capable?" She coughed back a laugh. "I wouldn't say that." She smirked, and shrugged. "I mean, I don't have a thing going on. No job, no plan. I just figured I get here and see what I could dredge up you know?" It felt like asking Claire the same question would be a bit pointless, what with the whole "Nothing to offer" comment. Wearing: Tank Top, Skinny Jeans, High tops, large backpack

Muse got a little wide-eyed when Sethrian commented that that was the reason the bakery was there. "Of course, of course! I know!" She flushed and looked down at her feet. She wasn't exactly the best at making jokes, or whatever that was. "Sorry, I just get way too excited about cakes..." Or just anything really. Muse tried to end every sentence she ever thought with an exclamation point. She looked back up at Sethrian, and tilted her head at his behavior. He looked like he was in some minor distress at whatever he had said last. "...Are you nervous? Or uncomfortable?" "A-am I being weird?" Her hands moved up to cup her cheeks. She wasn't very good at expressing herself in the 'heat of the moment,' so she just let her hands explain everything. They didn't really do too good of a job, sometimes.
"I-...is there something I can do? Oh, I know! I can go, if you want! I'm sure there are people here you actually know, and want to talk to...! And... And I'm not the best at... words 'n stuff, so..." Now she had her hands clenched into fists in front of her in a fit of inferiority complex passion. The last thing she wanted to do was make someone uncomfortable or annoyed. As much of a uninteresting brown carpet as Muse was, at least she was aware of it. At this point she was just talking herself into believing things that weren't even true. Truthfully, she wanted to talk to Sethrian more, she just wasn't sure how she was going to do it.
---
Claire frowned. She didn't exactly want to be spilling a vague story of her life to someone she just met, but that was all she really knew. She had difficulty talking about anything besides herself, really. She forgot no one knew her at all here. She was an open book. Well, not so much of an open book as writing in the sky. Claire didn't really have secrets. Secrets only ruined lives. "Thanks, Persephone." She smiled and tilted her head sheepishly, not expecting a 'they don't deserve you' from her. "Yeah... I'll be fine. You'll be fine too!" She sneered, and gave Persephone a light punch on the shoulder. Was it too soon for physical contact? Claire had no boundaries. "It's my fault for not coming here with a plan. My sister's going to be furious." She mumbled, not even bothering to offer Persephone some clarity on which sister she was talking about. The woman probably wouldn't care anyways. She seemed like she kind of wanted to just find the inn already. That backpack looked like it was getting heavy.
"Well, I don't want to keep you longer than I have to. I'm a bit of a sleep-deprived mess right now, thanks for attempting to deal with me after I just kind of sprang on you." She put her hands on her hips again. She didn't exactly admit she was in the wrong... Claire did nothing wrong. Just socially unacceptable, maybe. But there was really nothing about her that was socially acceptable. "You want some help finding the inn, maybe...?" Claire inquired. "I might have to be staying there soon anyways, I should probably check it out." And even if she wouldn't have to stay there, she might have to rent out a room every once in a while for some other business... "Unless you want to mingle a little more." Claire said with a slight grimace, wiggling her fingers to symbolize 'mingling.' Either way, this lighthearted happy dance festival was not Claire's scene and she would be getting out of there soon enough.

Persephone seemed to recall being as extroverted as Claire seemed, at one point in her life. She had to admit that she kind of liked her. That is, she seemed very transparent, and was obviously quite talkative, but there was really something to be said about a person who would speak their mind. Better to know exactly what someone is thinking rather than having to guess off of things like... body language, or vocal tone or something, right? "S'no problem." She said, tugging a cigarette out of its box and sticking it into her mouth. If she was going to be leaving this... festival(?), then she didn't really have to worry about being polite anymore. At least, as far as smoking was concerned. However; she did not light it. "Don't worry too much. The best laid plans of mice and men... right?" She shifted the weight of her backpack and shrugged "Sure. I'm just about done here. Some company would be nice." It was a little bit of an overstatement to how she felt, but it just didn't seem polite to say: "Either way, I couldn't care less." She liked the girl, but didn't really think any help would be required to find the inn. It didn't really seem like the kind of thing one would generally need help with. "Shouldn't be too hard to find though." She said. "It looks like a pretty small community. Well, smaller than where I used to live, at least." Todd felt his heart leap into his throat at the feel of Christine's leg around him. They had gotten pretty close at the gym, but never anything quite like this. She was so stunning, especially right now. He always knew that she was a little fiery, but he hadn't seen much of it before now. Though, she didn't ever really have the chance to show off like this. He winked down at her comment about his hands as he moved one up her thigh. "Then let's go all out." He said, leaning his head down closer to her as his hand reached her backside. So maybe he was taking it a little too far in the heat of the moment, but he could honestly say that he didn't care at this point. He was here to have fun with a beautiful lady before the music stopped and he had to resort back to his boring life.

Morgan nodded his head slowly as Trevor spoke, though he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to meet this Maggie. It was probably a big dog and big dogs were pretty terrifying. He took a deep breath, thinking about a giant Great Dane barreling into him. "I think that would be nice. Now if you don't mind me, Trevor, I believe I will take my leave." He patted his hands against his knees before standing. After a quick thought of touching hands with this man, he decided it best to just wave and go. Someone that usually had their hands around animals could likely transmit many diseases. That was definitely not something that he wanted to subject himself to, no matter how nice the person may be. He was sure that the man was kind enough to not take that too close to heart.

Xeiro only really needed to hear that one line before he knew he was ready to go. All of the many times that they had been alone were not exactly romantic in any sense. Tshila's small apartment was not exactly the best place to do much, but neither was his own house with all of the relatives around. He was usually happy to have his family close, but not when he wanted to bring his lady home. That was precisely why he began to inwardly pant and grabbed her up over his shoulder to dash towards the inn. "We're going now, babe. K?" Not like it really mattered what she said since he was already practically to the exit. They could make a grand appearance for next year when they passed down their crowns. No one really needed to see them now anyway.

Since the first time he laid eyes on Elliot, Riley had known that she was the one. One of the many ones that he would chase after. Sure, there wasn't much of a requirement for being one of those ones, but that didn't mean that she was any less special. The fact that she didn't turn him down nor indulge him, made the chase all the more interesting. Her monotone had always been bitter sweet for him, leaving him guessing what she was really thinking under that wonderful rack of hers. So the second he heard the change in the tone of her voice, his heart instantly went to fluttering. The words that she said hardly mattered, the emotion behind them was all he was wearing. However, that quickly changed when what she said next registered. She had said Finnian, but all he heard was his own name. Riley, please... It hurts.... If that wasn't the most beautiful sentence ever spoken, he didn't even want to know. His head was spinning and his knees instantly felt weak, all he wanted to do was lunge at her. So lunge he did. He pushed his cane into Finnian's chest, trying to move the sap out of the way. He maneuvered around the man to pull Elliot into a standing position and pressed himself against her, making a sandwich out of her and the tree. He gazed down at her momentarily before dropping to her level and pressing his lips against hers. It certainly didn't feel like she needed any Chapstick from here.

Zelynity smiled at Jacob's goofiness. "Thank you." She bobbed her head awkwardly with the music, trying to figure out what exactly this hand situation was. It was nice that he wanted to hold onto her hand, but this wasn't exactly how she was used to dancing. "I think I'd like to see you this close more often, too." That was kind of unexpected, even from herself. Maybe this was going to be the start of a new chapter for them. Oh gosh, she felt happy. That meant it was time to leave, right? The last time she had felt really happy around him, something went terribly wrong immediately after. "I think the festival's almost over..." She turned her head casually to glance over at the music box, awaiting someone to go over and turn it off. This had been nice and was definitely a step in the right direction, but she didn't want to plunge back into anything just yet. Not even if he had Bette Davis eyes.

This was probably a dangerous situation for January to be in, for both herself and others. Not the fact that she was dancing with an older stranger with admitted eccentricities, but that she already had an inflated ego and sense of entitlement, and this constant stream of compliments was not helping. "I knew that already. And you're perfectly adequate," she conceded as they began to dance, keeping her nose firmly up in the air while simultaneously averting her gaze. She knew that she was the loveliest and the most elegant (even though he said nothing about elegant, she was allowed to paraphrase wasn't she?!) and under normal circumstances she would take the compliments with only minor satisfaction. But her mind was a mess and her tummy had filled with bees (wait that didn't sound right) and the hand on her hip had only made her turn a deeper shade of red, even though she had danced like this a hundred times before, and --
"Me?" January's head snapped up as Gray said he wanted to get to know her better. She briefly made eye contact and remembered herself, but not without blushing even more. She was just a giant tomato in a frilly dress. "I mean, I know you would! I'm very interesting! Everyone thinks so!" She began to glance around, fully distressed by now. This was supposed to be her night, but she was being emotionally accosted by this homeless person, and she hadn't even won the crown. All of a sudden, January pushed herself away from Gray, stumbling into an awkward curtsy out of sheer habit. "I have to go! Excuse me! ...I mean, not excuse me, Sonata's don't ask to be excused, I have to go whether you excuse me or not!" After looking at Gray with one more look of sheer terror and humiliation, the gangly teenager turned on her expensive heel and ran all the way home, like Cinderella at midnight.

...Ah, of course, his mountain top recommendation had been a bad one, he should have guessed! This was why he didn't have any friends, he was always speaking without thinking properly. Peter nodded sheepishly when Chloe admitted that it was out of her capabilities, hoping he hadn't destroyed his chances of making a new friendly acquaintance. "Yes, the beach would be much better, you're right, I wasn't thinking," he nodded enthusiastically so she would know he was being sincere. He was so fixated on this that it took him a moment to realizing that she was inviting him to come along, too. "Me? Together?" he gawked at her, just making sure that he hadn't misheard somehow. It didn't happen often, but it could. "If you don't mind the company...! I mean, sure, yes! It's been a long time since I last properly stargazed, I'd like that." He was already getting excited, when was the last time he had gone out to spend time with anyone? With Wilhelm gone, he usually just stayed at home with his sister. "I work early in the mornings on weekdays, but I'm free any weekend evening. Here, my number..." He began to root through his pockets in search of the business card he was sure he had somewhere...

Actually, Elliot wasn't that upset -- she had definitely been uncomfortable and in pain, but she was a grown woman who trained lions not to maul people for a living, she could cope. But because she was a grown woman who trained lions not to maul people for a living, she liked having at least some control over herself. Unfortunately for her, she was talking to two giants with poor concepts of personal space, so it felt like it was no sooner that she was picked up by Finnian and then subsequently dropped by him (she wasn't upset, just a little bruised) that she was picked up by Riley too. To her credit, she was silent the whole time, from when she hit the ground, to when she was crushed against the tree, all the way through this eyepatch-wearing acquaintance smashing his face against hers. Kissing Elliot was not the most exciting experience for anyone, as Patrick Johnson in the sixth grade had declared when he had kissed her on a dare and subsequently announced that it was like kissing a dead fish, and she couldn't really fathom what Riley was hoping to get from it. "...Riley, 'at are 'oo doing" she asked, speaking even though their lips were still touching. She wasn't a child, she knew what a kiss was and what it signified to other people, but she just didn't know why he was doing it to her.

Will opened his mouth to say that actually, Tess could very easily pass as the mother of an eighteen year old, especially considering it was biologically possible to only be fifteen years older than one's offspring -- though he wasn't saying she looked thirty-three, she definitely looked much older. But he remembered that people didn't usually enjoy being contradicted when it came to things like their physical ages, so he quickly shut his mouth and chuckled instead. "Oh, my mistake then. Sorry, I just get so excited thinking about my girls with friends." Nat always made fun of him for being so sentimental, but he was sure he wasn't the only one who felt that way. "You might be the same way. I don't know."
While her father was chatting with the strange new woman, Scarlette balanced herself in his arms with a frown. She didn't really want to be here, it was dark and the lights hurt her eyes and there were strangers all around her. On top of it all, it was long past her bedtime, and she was becoming uncomfortably sleepy. It didn't take a whole lot for her to reach the end of her rope, and after a long moment, she slumped against Will's shoulder and began to wail.
Will, understandably, was startled by the sudden outburst, and he patted her back in a pathetic attempt to calm her down. Flustered, he looked to Tess rather hopelessly. "I think this means I should go put her to bed? I'm really sorry, it's late, I'm sorry... It was nice meeting you Tess, I'll see you around I guess?" After ducking his head apologetically, he hurried home, wailing toddler in his arms.

"Cakes are a worthy topic to get excited about," Sethrian said, slightly amused by the sudden fluster. "Though I'm told I could be biased." He watched her verbally flail around, wondering what it was about his responses that always got people crying or offering to leave. Even when he was making an effort to be polite, it happened. He withheld the sigh that wanted to escape as he raised an eyebrow at the woman. "If I had a problem talking to you, I would simply leave," Seth pointed out. "There's nothing stopping me from walking away. So no, you're fine." ** Christine smirked as Todd stroked her leg, glad she'd worn this dress. It always won the guys over. Always. "All out is the only way to go," she said. She actually had no idea what was going on in the rest of the festival just then. It wasn't just that Todd was extremely attractive, or that he smelled really great or was holding her in his strong, manly arms or whatever. To be hones,t it was just the first time in months that she was really able to ust lose herself in what she was doing and have fun without annoying reality intruding and reminding her that her injuries weren't fully healed, and that she was stuck on some tiny island because her psychotic ex-boyfriend was probably looking for her so he could beat her up more. It was nice to be with someone who was doing his best to remind her what a normal interaction between a man and woman looked like. "It looks likes people are starting to leave," she told him as they danced. "My question to you, Todd--is the night over for us already, or is it just getting started?" ** Well, that was that. Morgan made his exit and Trevor watched him go, pittying the poor bundle of nerves and anxiety all the more as he did. Poor guy. Trevor jut didn't know how people even l ived like that. Probably didn't have a single friend either. "Well, I guess I'll try to help him out a little." He ran a hand through his hair and shot a longing look at the dance floor, where there were till a few people dancing, before heading home himself. [exit] ** "Oh...ah....okay!" Tshila said as Xeiro literally picked her up and ran off with her. "I'm okay with that!" She probably should have pointed out that they didn't even have a change of clothes but then, she lived like...a two minute walk from the inn so it really wasn't that much of a problem. Eh. Whatever. This would be fun! She just hoped he didn't drop her on the way. [Tshila is abducted] ** Gray was highly amused when his date ran off all flustered and bright red. Heh. Well, that had actually been incredibly fun. It was a pity she didn't leave behind a shoe--not only would it give him an excuse to see her again but if she didn't try to reclaim it, he could probably pawn it off or something. She looked like she probably wore really expensive shoes. He scratched his head and yawned slightly, glancing around. Well, everyone was starting to slowly head home so he probably should too. Still, it would have been nice to have a phone number to take with him. Oh well. He supposed that even if he didn't see her again, it had still be fun to spend the evening with someone so fabulously susceptible to his...'charm.' He gave January's rapidly retreating form one last look, before heading home himself. [exit] ** "Yes, you, together," Chloe said, amused by his sweet reaction. "I don't mind the company at all. Quite the opposite, in fact." She produced a business card from some mysterious location--quite possibly the copious amount of black curls cascading around her shoulders. Or her cleavage. She'd done it so quickly it was hard to tell. "I don't believe I ever asked you what you do for a living, Peter," she said. "I work at the museum as the conservator so have evenings and weekends off. Should we try to meet next weekend, or is that too soon?" She didn't want to be pushy but she felt the opportunity might just slip away if they didn't make plans now, and that would honestly just be such a shame.

 - Rune LeBlanc, Julian Fate, Miah Bernadetto, & Stella Hammett- This was an unexpected but it pretty much concluded the event. It was a nice time and nobody got hurt, which gave Rune green light to go home. Which was just what she did. -Exit Rune- Julian was amused by the winning couple. He literally hauled her up and left. Well... that was Nirvani for you. The man finished up eating a few things from the refreshment table before heading off home. -Exit Julian- Oh, she did not. Miah let out a slight laugh and shook her head . "You keep on thinking that X" she said. Please. She was more than a worthy rival. She always. But... not this year. The blonde let her jaw fall ever so much when they announced the winners, if only for a second of two. "Oh this was rigged." The old timer and THAT blonde? Please. Miah looked at Xochiquetzal and shrugged. "...Yeah." She was leaving. Besides she wasn't going to keep watching the stupid couple as they left. -Exit Miah- Well that was fun. She had watched people run about, some do crazy dancing, and she ate a lot. This was a considerably successful night for Stella, so off she was back home. -Exit Stella-

It had been a long time since Todd's heart had beaten so fast. If he weren't in such good shape, he'd probably be at risk of having a heart attack right now as those beautiful eyes looked up at him. His steps had quickly become a lot less sure, and he was worried that she'd notice how nervous he was becoming. He was desperately trying to keep cool, but it was becoming increasingly more difficult. It felt like they were the only people here now, and that was perhaps a little more frightening. He couldn't imagine being alone with her in that dress and with this dance. It was just unthinkable. Was this unethical? He'd have to ask Zhi about that. She kept up with all of the legal concerns of the business, right? If not, he'd have to pay her some overtime to figure out if this relationship was breaking any laws. He'd gladly remove himself from her care if it meant that he could be her... oh goddess. He couldn't even fathom it. There was also the fact that they didn't really have a good replacement for a situation as delicate as hers. He couldn't just let her go on in pain. Was he willing to lose his business for her? In that moment while looking down at her gorgeous face, he was certain that he was willing to lose his life for her.
At the sound of her voice, he was snapped back into reality. It seemed that his fantasy was coming true and they were being left all alone. "Ah." He straightened himself up, maintaining his hold on her. It wasn't until he really thought about it that he realized what else she had said. What was he supposed to say to that? He didn't want to come on too strong, but boy did he want this night to continue. How long had he spent dreaming about her? That first day in the gym felt so far away now. He had to take a chance. He couldn't just stand by idly and wait for someone else to swoop in. He'd never forgive himself if he was this close to her and lost her. "We can move this party to my place, if you'd be interested? I can order us some take-out, light a few candles. I can be pretty romantic when I want, y'know."

...Ah. Just as Peter grasped something in his pocket that felt like some sort of card-like material, Chloe pulled out one of her own from... he hadn't been paying attention. "Oh, thanks," he said simply as he took the card and deposited it into his breast pocket, making a mental note to keep better track of it than he had his own. "This weekend?" He was a little thrown off by the sudden date decision, but maybe that was just him. In movies and on TV, when people asked people out to dinner with less than 48 hours' notice, it always felt strange to him. But she was nice enough, and there was plenty more than 48 hours' notice, so he nodded. "That would be fine. I'll call you for the details," he nodded once more for emphasis. Museum conservator, he'd have to ask her about that later.
Out of the corner of his eye he noticed that people were beginning to wander home. Well, it made sense; the festival winners had been announced and it had long since gotten dark. With a small glance at his watch, he let out a small "Oh!" and tugged at his collar. "How did it get so late? Time flies, I guess! I have a lot of work in the morning -- I'm a teacher, that's what I do -- so I should probably get home soon. My sister will wonder where I went!" he laughed lightheartedly, wondering if Skyla had even noticed he had left. "It was very nice meeting you, Chloe, I'll call you about this weekend!" With a grin, he wished her goodbye, and left.

"I should.. um... make myself a cake." Muse stated, touching her two pointer fingers together absentmindedly. Though she didn't yet have a place to stay, or an oven, or any ingredients, or much money. "I think everyone likes cake. Ha... What's up cake? M-muffin much... Hahh... hhh..." She grinned weakly before she even made the joke. At this point she was falling apart inside and felt so bad for Sethrian for having to experience this. To her, he was just staring down bored and annoyed out of his mind, and even though it may not have been true(and probably wasn't, he was still here), it messed up Muse badly.
She didn't even care about the huge stain on her dress anymore. Everything in her head was telling her to get out. Maybe she wasn't ready to go out by herself when there were so many people around. "I... I'm sorry. I should go. It...It looks like everyone's leaving, and I don't want to keep you from doing something important." She fidgeted, trying to decide what the best way to leave was. "I-I'll visit you at the bakery, sometime!" That was a lie. After this disaster, she never wanted to see him again, in fear that he would make fun of her. But he was so nice... Calm down Muse, calm down. "I'm so so sorry, Sethrian. It was very nice to meet you, but I believe I've wasted enough of your time." She said as genuine as an apology like that could get. Hopefully he would understand. She made eye contact quickly, awkwardly bowed again, and left.

Claire smiled. "Yeah, let's go then! I'm sick and tired of looking for someone to mooch off of." Though it had only been about five or ten minute since the search began, her attention wavered. It seemed she came at the butt end of the festival, and everyone was already beginning to leave. January or whoever she was looking for, she already forgot, probably already left. She would stay in the inn for one... maybe two nights... Then go bust into her rightful home then, when she was all good and rested. "Yeah. Super small. I'd imagine it would be somewhere around here, this being the Town Square and all. It makes sense that they would be close together." She shrugged. "And if we for some reason can't find it, there are people around to ask. And as you know, I have no problem asking." Claire smirked, and started walking in a random direction, where a lot of other people were walking, and turned around to beckon Persephone with exaggerated hand motions.
