2pound to counter that, you can write a poem as simple as and you're done. in other words, the quality of your work becomes crap if you just want to meet the quota. this is the biggest problem with napomo; i've done it twice but it was tough as s**t both times because i actually tried to write creatively. it's just too much sometimes. I know this sounds really, well, whatever, it does not matter. But that just feels like a total cop out. That is a sentence using the enter key instead of the space bar for two words. Doing that takes no commitment and not that much thought. If that is what people do for NaPoMo I am wondering why they even do it. Where is the challenge? The stretch, the reaching, the thing that will let you improve and accomplish something? Although I am glad to hear that you try to be creative with your poems and it does challenge you.

I signed up for NaNoWriMo, and CampNaNo, but always put things off and don't participate well, but I am determined that this July will be different. I'm much more serious about my writing now. I am planning to plot out the general story board, and get an idea of who my characters are so once july comes it is just fitting the puzzle pieces. At least that's the idea. lol

I think 2 of them I can kinda combine for one story, but I'm still debating. I figure I continue working the general thoughts for all of them, and decide when NaNo gets a little closer which one inspires me the most. razz

To actively participate in one of our era’s most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from [previous work] at parties. this applies to both poetry and prose; nano and napo are both promoting literary works of art in general in their respective fields. i just dislike people telling me what to do so instead of indulging myself in my poetry i do it to stick it to the establishment. i just wish i knew more about dadaism.

Yes the reasons are similar and all that. Although with NaNo it is just literary art in general as there is nothing barring people from writing their novel in verse, or just writing a whole lot of poems into a novel, or script (since they have now added script as a genre). And any that do not fall within the standard "50k of a novel in 30 days" belongs to the Rebels who even get their own sub-forum to rebel together in. My objection there was for the people who do not want to challenge themselves in some way. Why do they choose to do either NaNo or NaPo? And your reason for doing poetry is.. interesting. Although your mention of Dadaism now makes your weird tweet poetry make some sense now.

Why hello there xd
Well I'm super new to all of this Gaia stuff but I was happily surprised to find this guild ^_^ I've gone ahead and signed up for Camp NaNo and look forward to writing with everyone. I have a pretty firm idea about what I'll be writing about because the novel's been stuck in my head for several months now. I've been planning on writing it but I keep procrastinating so I'm hoping the camping experience will give me a good push to finally write it out.

I never said it was perfect. whimsicaldreamer My objection there was for the people who do not want to challenge themselves in some way. Why do they choose to do either NaNo or NaPo? ....i believe that no reason should be required, no motivation, nothing. once you have a reason to 'justify' why you write, then in the same manner you got it you can 'lose' it as well; so, to me, you do it or you don't. Charles Bukowski said: "Don't try." Archibald MacLeish said: "A poem should not mean, but be." and Sartre said, "To do is to be." So, in my opinion, Do or don't; there is not try. but it will always be present if you do.

2pound I never said it was perfect. I think you lost me somewhere on that as I am not following where your response came from. 2pound whimsicaldreamer My objection there was for the people who do not want to challenge themselves in some way. My question is why someone would choose to take the effort of signing up for an event that more or less boils down to getting people to write, and then do something that seems to me half-assed as they go "eh, good enough." Also in your opinion? Quoting people is quoting other people's opinions. They may align with yours but are in no way an explanation of your opinion. When I left them out I was able to understand what you were trying to say there much easier.

When I left them out I was able to understand what you were trying to say there much easier. i felt the other way around but yeah. my opinion isn't exclusive to me and i didn't come up with it. i'm agreeing with someone else's philosophies partly because, well, i feel i don't have the skill or imagination to come up with a new idea (unlike Einstein, that awesome son of a b***h). i apologize if this came off as elitist in some way.
