"What paycheck?" he laughed warily. He quieted, happy to be close, to feel another persons warmth. They wrote songs about this sort of thing. He wanted to write more but the words had stopped flowing. There was something wrong with him, with his brain he was sure. If he stopped trying so hard maybe the inspiration would come back to him.
he pursed his lips, hesitating for a moment before he leaned in to press a kiss against her temple shyly.

Candace gave a laugh followed by a playful tsk. "Don't be like that~. Melvin owes me too, so if you want I can make him pay off part of your share and he'll never know." There was a very high chance Candace was being serious, too.
The kiss to her temple brought a small smile to her face and she closed her eyes for a moment. "Hm.." Candace reached into her pocket for her phone to check the time. "I have twenty minutes left on sleeper duty...we could move to your room if you want?" Strictly for cuddling unless Jerry decided he wanted more.

Jerry was content to just sit and cuddle for the next twenty minutes until they had to go their separate ways, but he immediately shifted away, twisting his hands, "Ah... okay.. um. I can... I can let you get back to business, ahaha..."

What? Was it something she'd said? Candace frowned and looked over her shoulder at the man. "Only if that's what you want. It's just sleeper duty and I don't really have any specific plans for the day. It's been awhile since we've hung out."

"What? Oh! Oh- I thought you meant- ah..." He adjusted his glasses, and fidgeted with his sling. "Sorry. I'm just..." He hesitated for the right words, "A mess right now."

"Thought I meant what~?" She asked pleasantly with a slight hint of amusement. Candace sighed and turned so she was facing the man on his lap, her legs on either side of him, draping her arms over his shoulders and leaning in close with her forehead against Jerry's. "Messes can be cleaned up. Sometimes...making a bigger mess is part of the process. Take everything apart, sort it all out, and then put it back together again." Candace pet his cheek with the back of her hand, closing her eyes a moment. "You just have a lot of tiny little pieces that keep falling under the furniture, so...it takes time to find them." She stole a sweet kiss from his lips. "You'll be okay, I'm sure of it."

He sighed against the kiss, leaning in as his face visibly relaxed, quietly, nervously hungry for more. It was like electric that ran from the sensitive nerves along their lips deep down into his lungs, his stomach, and out to his fingertips.
He missed this. He could already feel something bubbling up inside him. He wanted to feel that way again, the song in his heart to resonate outward again. It was just a matter of figuring out what was missing.

Candace cupped the man's cheek and kissed him again, keeping it light and sweet. Jerry was not a man of..ah...passion, he needed to be handled carefully or he would run like a scared rabbit. That was the opposite of what he wanted. Eventually she stopped and leaned back, sighing quietly and just looking at Jerry.
Suddenly she clicked her tongue and climbed off Jerry's lap. "Yeah, no. Things are fine here no one needs me. This place is boring as hell anyway I hate sleeper duty." Candace still had some time left on this duty but let's face it who the ******** cared. No one was scheduled to wake up, no one would wake up, and no one was going to come check on her. ******** it, Jerry needed her. She'd stay with him as long as he needed.
"Let's go~. Lead the way." Candace was straightening out her coat, giving Jerry a warm smile and waiting for him with a surprising amount of patience.

He wobbled for a moment before regaining his senses and fumbled to his feet. " J-just so long as you don't get in any trouble!" He croaked but didn't hesitate to follow after like an eager three-legged puppy that had been promised something good.

She waved a hand dismissively. "Bah. I doubt I will." She took his good hand in hers and led Jerry out of the room, heading for his room in the dorms. An afternoon just...quietly cuddling actually sounded kind of nice.
