TABTAB There was not even a moment's hesitation. "I'm in." He immediately took the offered headband and tightened it around his waist, as his head was occupied by the goggles he fancied. He then walked around the table and hugged Saiyuri, as a show of comfort. "If the world tries to self-destruct again, things get simple: we kick its a** until it wises up and sets itself straight." There was nothing fake about what he said, and every indicator Saiyuri could sense would tell her he whole-heartedly meant every word. This may not have been Konoha, but it was still where he was needed. And it was not like they had not done the impossible before. Takashi himself had seen the face of Death twice now and was still around and kicking, though he was sure the Reaper's promise about the third time being the charm was not just hot air. TABTAB Then Takashi seemed to tense. Stupid. He then relaxed and backed off from the Sorakage, his cheeks somewhat blushed but otherwise seemingly unchanged. In his mind, there were no barriers, no walls. Instead, there were mists that hid his thoughts rather than outright shielding them. He found that this method worked better against those that would use his mind against him. He was doing this now to hide some of his thoughts from Saiyuri. They were stupid, selfish pipedreams. There was no way he had any right to hold Saiyuri as anymore than a friend right now, if ever anything more. His body was attempting to go through auto-pilot motions one would with a lover after separation, and it was presumptuous to think that she would have waited for him. No, he had no right to follow his body's wants, and for once he and his brain were on the same page. TABTAB He mentally cooled off, then walked over to the wall, leaned on it, and gazed outside through the window with his arms crossed. "Saiya, this is gonna sound weird... but I've been asleep. For a long time now." He looked over at the Sorakage as a series of memories began to play out; this was a better method to express himself to her than actually talking. The first was of him, right after the Great Destruction. A hooded figure approached him, but an emerald flame appeared, warding off the figure. The next was that of a giant temple, covered in statues of bears and bear heads. Takashi approached a man wearing a black duster and long-rimmed hat, and bowed before the man. The man bowed in return, then seemed to transform into a silver-haired and more bear-like being. The third only consisted of Takashi's chakra points and his chakra flow. At first, the flow appeared red and the points shattered, then the flow slowly turned blue and the points mended. TABTAB"It didn't all happen fast, but it felt like everything was happening so quickly in the moment. I don't know what happened exactly, but from what I can figure my chakra flow and chakra points got messed up. I should have died.... again, but for some reason I didn't and my.... I guess you could call it my 'spirit' was taken somewhere. All I had to do was wait until my chakra flow and points were fixed up and good to go, but I was allowed to learn a few things in the meantime." His eyes flashed a dim color of blue, then green, then returned to normal. "I can't control fire the way I use to, but I learned some new tricks dealing with chakra itself. So is there anything I should be aware of or should I just dive into things?"

Saiyuri gave a genuine smile when Takashi took the headband. As he spoke it both comforted and chilled Saiya at the same time. Having him around again was bound to have a positive affect on Saiyuri, but it poked at the mental binds she had placed on her past. This Takashi was the same Takashi as before. Had Saiyuri posed this question to him when they were but children she was sure his answer would have been the same as it was now. The physical contact made through his hug made her feel even more unchained. The influx of his genuine feelings came too quickly and slammed her and cracked the barrier she always had in place. Suddenly a flare of mental energy shot from Saiyuri's mind. Every loose item in the office began to shake and vibrate with intensity. The mug on Saiya's desk cracked and shattered while the filing cabinets rattled noisily. Saiya's body tensed as she shut her eyes tightly and focused on clamping down the energy. Just as suddenly as it started the phenomena ceased. Saiyuri turned away from Takashi and placed her hands against the sill of the window, still tensed. It was not until the barriers shut firmly around her mind that Saiyuri took a soundless breath and turned back to Takashi; apologies clear in her eyes. What happened in the past had a rough affect on her. It left her cracked, unable to properly form bonds while remaining in control of her own mind. In order to save herself Saiyuri shut that down and kept it locked like an ancient treasure.
She turned and listened to Takashi's explanation of where he had been for the past twelve years or so. Saiyuri had always known that he hadn't truly died. They never found his body but he was assumed destroyed with the rest of the village. And so Saiyuri marked an empty grave next to another friend. She did not quite understand what had happened, but crazier things had happened in the world. So instead she merely nodded her head and accepted whatever the hell happened to her friend. "You should know that the enemies we are dealing with are far beyond the abilities of any one shinobi or kunoichi in the known world." Kaisen, Jade, and Kaiser were not called Sages for no reason. The thought of having to face any one of them made Saiyuri's face appeared grim. It was not that she was not confident in her abilities, but Saiyuri knew when she was outclassed. Apparently the Tsukikage felt the same, as there had been little news of retaliation anywhere. "I've changed as well. It has been a long time since I last healed someone." Saiyuri said with chagrin. It was the death of her friend Nakaya that had forced her to realize her failure as a medic. Now Saiyuri could crush people with her strength, breaking their bodies and mind all the same. "There are so many things that need doing. Come with me, Takashi. I could use your assistance." Saiya said as she mentally contacted her secretary, telling them to hand missions to whatever genin may come to the office. She locked the room behind her and led Takashi out of the building.

The past few days have had such a profound affect on Saiyuri Mayu. She was currently sitting at her desk cupping a mug of coffee between both of her hands. Normally she did not partake in the consumption of any mind altering substances, but today was different. After interrogating her very own council member for sensitive information and finding him guilty, she had ordered his execution. Saiyuri carried it out herself, knowing that the one who passes the sentence should be the one to swing the blade. She had gazed deep into his eyes and even merged their consciousnesses, feeling everything he felt. The fear had washed over her body, followed by rage and finally acceptance. Saiyuri was not sure why she had done that; it was now yet another mental scar marring her mind. It seemed these days that was all she could think about. She found herself losing perception of reality on a daily basis. Sometimes she could swear she was in another life, preparing a dinner for a family she did not have. These were memories from the minds she had touched over her life. Everyday her control was slipping, and everyday she got closer to the brink of insanity.
Saiyuri raised the cup to her mouth and took a hearty gulp, enjoying the rush of warmth in her body. The coffee would jolt her body into power and that was what she needed. Anything that could force her brain to think differently was acceptable right now. She looked down at the blank page before her and set to work. As she scribbled and scrawled she created a link with one of her many underlings. "Please get me Jean Letroy." Saiyuri thought to one before concentrating on her message.

Have you ever died before? She asked. Just now, he'd told her, spilled the beans about his weird ability to come back from a thousand scattered pieces beneath a fiery blanket. The easy way to answer her question would be to answer it simply; to tell her yes, he had. But the easy way was not always the desirable way. He wanted to flaunt it and make it as glamorous as he possibly could, before suddenly beginning to realize that it was only a painful and ill-wandered memory. Post-traumatic was something that could describe Jean. He'd been scrambled up inside, feeling like he lost a piece of himself after the venture. It was only by playing it off as a ride that he could begin to recover from it; the fear, the humiliation. I was stabbed, right in the heart, he told her.
I knew it was over. I took him with me. That was the last relief I could feel at the end of my days; knowing that I didn't lose. That was the truth. Men were naturally competitive creatures. They didn't enjoy losing, no matter how they wanted to make it appear. Worst of all was the battle of life and death, where losing meant a permanent end to your dreams. No man, and no woman for that matter, wanted to fail when it really counted. But he did. Jean, who thought himself to be the strongest of all warriors, fell to the blade of a silent and lightning-fast shinobi. Before he could even fling him off, the light had faded from his eyes. It was heart-wrenching. He felt tears come, and an aching in more than just his body; his soul wept. All he could do was try and return the favor.
The instant before he died was what he remembered the most. He felt as if his life would come to flash before him, but it did not. Nothing happened. All there had been was pain, then nothing at all. To know that life could end in such a disappointing way . . . was something that made him regret bothering at all. And yet he rose a week past, alive and healthy once more. He wasn't sure how he felt. He only knew that he felt confused. That must've been pretty scary, she remarked. I don't know what I'd do. Maybe make a final wish before the end came. For the good health of my family, or something like that. Though it would seem so arbitrary at that point.
Everything that we ever do is arbitrary. It was a whim of mine to enter that field, trying to admire the full moon. And it cost me my life. At any moment, you can die. Your last wishes are just as worthless as your first. Don't be confused. Depressing, but true. No matter what one wished for themselves or others, it didn't matter. Wishes were not reality, nor could they become reality. Reality was only changed by blood and pain. There was nothing more to it.
"Jean-san!" A man called out to him. It was one of the desk workers from Saiyuri's office. He recognized him well, as they'd known each other from Konoha, before it all went to hell. His friendliness towards him had diminished over time, though, as he was more of a bureaucrat than anything else. Jean didn't care for those types, as all they did was wobble and fester as others died where it really mattered. Actually dying certainly jaded his view on things. Yes? He asked.
...And not long after, he was face-to-face with the Sorakage. A typical day, honestly. You called? He asked her. The man was far from occupied, so he didn't really feel inconvenienced by her summonings. Though he wasn't exactly enthusiastic, either.
____________________THE PAIN, THE HATRED, THE DESTRUCTION____________________
Saiyuri felt Jean's mind the moment he got close to the building, but she did not enter his mind to speak. Even though he was a fellow Mayu and understood the contact Saiyuri had gotten so used to being very polite and careful how she used her power. Most people loathed the contact, feeling naked and vulnerable. There was a stigma about the Mayu, one that had everyone believing they stole thoughts from people without them noticing. Saiya knew this to be one of the greatest falsities in her life. Anyone would notice the contact of a Mayu instantly, and could even try to guard their thoughts. A member of her clan could only 'see' what was at the forefront of their mind without digging. Hiding from or confusing a Mayu was something totally possible. Every single person on this planet would know when a Mayu has invaded their mind as the pain is akin to a severe migraine should the clansmen choose to forgo care and niceties. Saiyuri herself had taken either path on plenty of occasions, both slowly and gently combing through a mind as well as ruthlessly ripping one apart. As the Kage, Saiya could not afford for her own people to mistrust her and had developed a number of habits to dispel the illusion that all Mayu were mind-marauders.
The Mayu Clan was peculiar in their ways and generally kept to their own compound for the earliest years of their lives. As a child it is difficult to control the mind, let alone stop oneself from viewing the thoughts of others. Saiya's kin, from the time of birth to the cusp of childhood, were trained to lock their thoughts down and quell the flow of thinking from others. They are trained to interact with others without using their links. This causes a lot of Mayu members to seem overly theatrical when gesturing and showing emotion. Most are masters of their expressions, being very careful to not mix them up and portray something they did not mean. Because very few others could comprehend the method of Mayu communication, they also learn to 'speak' with emotion and learn mental inflection to properly convey their thoughts. When two Mayu communicate, a single word may not even be uttered if necessary. They instead choose to chat with images, sounds, feelings, and a number of thoughts at once.
So it was not until Jean made it into her office that Saiyuri first made eye contact and nodded her head at him. She extended the link and immediately did something any Mayu would find peculiar; she kept her emotions and thoughts from mixing with his. Her mind was not in a state for proper communication and she could not have people see her in this way. Saiyuri kept eye contact with Jean as she sent a stream of verbal thoughts to his mind, pausing in her letter writing. "It's good to see you, Jean." Saiya started, the honesty clear on her expression of relief. She always felt most comfortable around her own people. "I am sure you are fully up to date with the latest happenings in Soragakure. The village is in an uproar. I have found a link between Kaiser Shiro-Kame attacking us, and the recent attacks on Tsukigakire from Kaisen Uchiha." The expression on her face was of mixed emotion when she thought of Kaisen; showing an anger as well as a disappointment. Saiyuri had looked up to the man and now here he was betraying the very ideals he had taught to them all. "We will not be able to deal with the Sages on our own." She said with a grim expression. Saiyuri hated to admit that they needed help, let alone just how desperate she really was to gain it. "I will be sending a message to Tsukigakure via airmail, asking for their Kage and her guard to meet us in a neutral location where we may agree on the terms for an alliance. Together, I believe we will be able to defeat the Sages. I want you to come with me should they agree." Saiyuri finished, waiting to catch his physical as well as mental reaction before returning to her letter. She already intended to leave Takashi in charge of the protection of her village while she was away, and would even personally give a message to each of her remaining shinobi. They needed to remain diligent and strong, or the village may very well fall. Once she finished the letter Saiyuri rolled it up and sealed with a single mark, one that could be opened by the Tsukikage. She handed it to one of her many underlings and had it sent away.

Ronnel reached the entrance to the Kage's building and stopped outside for a moment. He took in a deep breath, and when he exhaled he forced the anger at Zokuji out along with it. THe anger was pointless, it served no good, and would only hurt him if he kept it in. The medic would just need to make sure to avoid dealing with the other boy for a bit, maybe in hopes that some of the cockiness and arrogance would fade in time with their profession. Ron ran one hand through his hair and let out another sigh, this one much smaller, and cracked his neck.
He - and Magnus if the other shinobi did accompany him - were here to request a mission. Ronnel at least had no money to spend, and he wanted to try taking on a mission or two. Maybe they could take two or three D-ranks on to accumulate money quickly, or perhaps there was a C-rank available? He'd have to find out. With this new thought firmly in place, and the former anger gone from his mind for now, the Hanaya entered the Sorakage's office building and began hunting for the mission desk.

[NPC #672] As Ronnel looked around for the mission desk a very small woman with a very large stack of files was attempting to run right on by. The problem was she could not see over the files she was carrying. "S'cuse me! Outta the way! Mission requests coming through!" She said in an impossibly cute voice. The woman rounded the corner and slammed right into Ronnel, comically tossing her files into the air and landing on the ground with a soft whimper. Now that she could see the secretary pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose in such a kawaii-desu way it was just totes adorbz. Ronnel would be able to notice the files and the names. There were three that were prominent compared to the rest. One of them entailed showing Academy students the fundamentals of being a ninja. The second involved the search for missing supplies from the Soragakure armory. The last was the request of construction help on a new thread.

"Ah, sorry lovely lady, I wasn't expecting anyone to be in such a hurry here. Let me help you with that." The eighteen year old held out his hand to help her onto her feet. While he had been looking for missions, he wasn't expecting to run into them quite so literally. Once she was on her feet - with a kiss to the back of her hand - Ronnel smiled.
"Sorry again. Though our meeting is quite lucky, at least for me - I was looking for something to occupy my time." He knelt down and picked up the files, keeping the three that had caught his eye separate from the rest, which he handed back to her. "Could you tell me, which of these intrigues you the most?" He raised one eyebrow - he was leaning towards the Academy mission or retrieving the missing supplies, but someone else's input would be invaluable since he wasn't a native to the village.

[NPC #672] The uber kawaii-desu secretary blushed very hard at Ronnel's gentlemanly qualities. He was just so handsome she did not know what was coming over her. When he asked her question she blinked rapidly three times after having realized she was staring at him. "I-I think th-that the students a-are most intriguing. Y-you know, the future l-leaders and all..." She said, trying to look literally anywhere but Ronnel. Why was he so darn attractive?

"Ah, a wise choice. I suppose I'll go help the future generation then - not that I'm much better than they." A soft laugh escaped his lips as he handed the other two folders back to the young lady. He tucked the folder for his mission underneath his arm and bowed to the secretary.
"I wish I could stay and spend some time with you lovely lady, but unfortunately for now I must be off. Perhaps we'll meet again later." Ronnel smiled at her as he departed - the woman was beginning to get flustered, and causing an incident in the Kage's office building wasn't on his agenda. Best to keep their interaction down for now. Besides, she was handling missions, and he was a shinobi, he was bound to see her again.

Ronnel was drained by the time he made it back to the Kage's office. While he hadn't physically strained himself, he was still only a Genin, and replacing himself with students to get their attention had worn on him. But he was able to tuck that exhaustion into the back of his mind when he reached the Kage's office building and headed inside - he needed to report his mission completion now.

Having rested for a while - napping on one of the benches outside the Kage's building, Ronnel was once more refreshed and ready to go. He stood up and popped his back before heading into the building, trying to trace the steps that the girl from earlier had been heading in before the two of them had run into each other. Hopefully the mission office wasn't too far off down that way.

[NPC #672] As if the secretary had eaten the apple of discord for lunch, she bumped right into Ronnel once more. This time she had been walking backward, wheeling a cart of files out of a room. When her back touched Ronnel she jumped nearly 10 feet in the air and began to excessively bow. "Sorry! Sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going...again." She admitted sheepishly, a hue of red overtaking her delicate features. The girl pushed up her glasses and blushed even harder when she realized who it was. Her eyes widened and she let out a squeak of surprise before slapping her hands over her mouth. She cleared her throat before talking once more. "Are you here for another mission? There's still the missing supplies and the construction request." She said really swiftly, barely giving a space between her words.

Ronnel laughed and help up one hand soothingly, trying to calm the startled woman down. While he had understood what she had said, if she was able to slow down and take a few deep breaths the conversation would be easier.
"Indeed I am milady, teaching was enjoyable though I don't think I'd have the temperament to handle such a large group more than occasionally." He tapped one finger against his chin in thought for a moment. "Would you happen to have more information on either of those missions? While the construction might be easy, I've no idea what I'd be doing, nor do I know if there are any leads on the missing equipment..." He trailed off, looking at her eyes as he spoke.

[NPC #672] The kawaii secretary graciously took Ronnel's hand though did not make eye contact with him. She had such an odd feeling in her stomach, something like butterflies. Or maybe she just really had to pee. He was just so darn cute. "Th-there was a symbol on the wall, a circle with two horns coming out of it. Maybe some sort of gang. As for the construction Soragakure is looking for a new attraction of sorts to lift the spirits of the villagers." She said swiftly yet again. The longer Ronnel looked into the eyes they wider they'd seem to be.
