Jin entered the void... that expanse of nothing, yet something, that separated the great cities.

Coming from Durem, he headed towards the salty smell of the sea.

Following the scent of the ocean, Jin headed east, towards the Port of Gambino.

From the Port of Gambino, Flare sailed into the Void on midnight black wings. This, she knew, was the fastest way to get to her destination.

The lifeless puppet that had given her this clue was in her pocket.

((I'll delete this if anything would have happened to keep her in the Port.))

From the Void, Flare flew towards the Gothic Church she'd helped burn down, and swore to donate money to.

Gammu was still trudging up ahead. The ground was quickly turning to sand as the void came about. Even without his equipment working properly the temple was hard to miss. Magic flying around every which way wasn't a deterent, considering they weren't intune with it.

"Eyes open, my HUD is stuck on plain view. Gamma commented, shifting his grip on the riotgun to bring it up with a solider's ready.

Switching to a direct live video feed Gammu was able to see the terrain. Nothing really compared to the old mark 1 eyeball, even if it was a mechanical one that relayed the images to the organic ones. There would be very little flight here and his calculations would have to be flawless if he was going to use the jump system as he didn't want to clog up the rockets. "There's the damn place. So how soon tell this hell is over? I prefer the normal hell of metal against metal and bullets screaming."

Having headed west from the Port of Gambino, the dragoness and her riders, Vahn and Alex, stumbled upon the outskirts of the Void. This... Kira thought to herself. This is what the world looked like before I came to this strange land...

Feeling slightly more invigorated, Kira picked up her pace and headed straight into the swirling darkness. Had her wings been spread -and not injured- she might have even taken flight.

It was indescribable.

One minute, he was having wind whip against his face and hair, clinging onto the neck of a blue dragon that had devoured and spat him back out, and the next... nothing but silence.

Heavy, heavy, silence.

The kind you would find in an airless enviroment, or a room shut off from the world for eons.

His greaves lit and and actually cooled off, becoming freezing cold for a moment. The wristlet on his right forearm glowed dimly, and the sword sheathed at the back of his waist was actually vibrating slightly.

His items were going haywire... and his head was getting the biggest headache of them all.

"...Ugh." This place.... why does...it feel so...

This was not the first time Vahn had been within the Void.

But for the first time... this was indeed feeling alien to Vahn. The feeling of chaos was all the more concentrated here... as if magnified by a hundredfold.

Is this... where it all came from then? Is this where it started...?

For now, he could do nothing but trust in Kira.

"..?"

He turned at Alex' words.

"You've... been here before? The temple you told me about then... it's in here?"

Things were beginning to make a little more sense...

Several hours must have passed... but maybe only a few minutes had actually passed.

Who knows.

Time had no meaning in a place such as this. Just an endless emptiness that stretched and stretched for who knows how long. It was impossible to gauge the size of this place, let alone what was up or down anymore.

Cardinal directions were ultimately useless in a place that literally was not bound by the laws of physics and the real world as Gaians saw it.

This might as well have been an altogether different dimension... which it probaly was.

He woke up with a slow start, not even remembering when he had fallen asleep. His face and chest was slightly numb, from sleeping in such an awkward and bumpy position, but he managed to avoid falling off miraculously.

Alex was still sleeping, her arms tightened around his waist.

"Dammit... I don't want to be lost in this place.. where the hell is it..."

He stared past the side of Kira's head, wondering if maybe the dragon was lost or if it was just fascinated with the emptiness.

"I don't suppose you would mind me asking if we were there yet?"

Slowing to a stop, Kira looked around. If I knew where we were headed, then I would be able to answer you more efficiently, she telepathed quietly. I feel as though I have run in place. There are no features by which to tell direction, and the patterns in the darkness seemingly change of their own volition, not according to any kind of distance travelled. Even time seems fluid here...

As if to prove a point, she unfurled her splinted wing. The motion promptly popped the tape's hold upon the webbing, revealing a once again fully-functional appendage. I should not heal so quickly, but it feels as though I had never injured it...

Ah---!

He lifted his right arm, fingers flexing.

I... was wondering why I felt so... light-headed. Normally it'd take a while for me to replenish what I lost... but this place...

"I guess time really doesn't exist... or... something."

He closed his eyes and began concentrating on what Alex had told him. They had to find the temple.

Temple.

Temple.

Tem...ple...

This place... it's bad if you just treat this area just like any other normal area... you can get lost... and never come back out... I wonder.. could you die in here then...? I don't want to die here... I have too much to do still...

Victor... he came from the Void... it's how he was able to pass the centuries without aging... but even then... look what he came out trying to do.

His eyes squeezed shut tighter, even as he lowered his head.

I have to grasp my will... firmly! I have to know what I want... where I'm going. That's right... forward... no matter what... we have to go...

"Kira... it's just up ahead... I can faintly feel... something, calling out.. pulling... but if we miss this chance right now... I don't know when that feeling will come back---"

His eyes snapped open even as he shouted.

"So we have to push ahead now!!!"

A window of opportunity only lasted so long...

Eager to see if her wing was really healed, Kira crouched low, then sprang into... nothing. She felt no wind, no air holding her aloft, but whatever kind of ground had been beneath her was no longer there.

"Auugh!" came her panicked cry. She flapped furiously, fearing what seemed like an immediate crash landing, but the action merely propelled her forward. Wary, she elongated her wingstrokes in order to speed them along, wobbling slightly between each flap. This is so strange...

"Hahahahaha!!"

His laughter echoed out, bounced around, reverbed and lost itself, even as Kira took her stumbling flight.

His chest felt like an immense pressue had been lifted off, and he couldn't help but smile. The emptiness was beginning to shrink away, and he could finally make something out, as light began to widen.

Kira trumpeted her own excitement as the land grew some sort of features, pressing on as fast as she could.

As an odd building swam into view along an invisible horizon, she banked in a semicircle to land in front of it. She lay down in order to let Alex and Vahn disembark.

Alex... once more I thank you for the medical assistance, she smiled at the girl. Well... as best a dragon could, at any rate. Little One, I shall wait here for you if you so desire. If not, I shall continue to explore this... vast emptiness until I find what I seek.
