Deryk stared for a moment as it was mentioned they were going to be stealing from a library. A really big and old library. But, apparently this place had a book that could of use to them. With luck, the thing won't be some sort of evil summoning tome and bring crazy bad things to the island.
That would not be good at all.
He did look towards Pasha and Evan, wondering if it was the greatest idea to bring fresh recruits on something like this, but he didn't vocalize it. Ami was leading, meaning she had to have picked them all or something. Hopefully.
"G-got it."
And through the portal he went.
Finding himself in the library, he looked around, seeing that it looked more or less how he imagined it would be. Well, it was a lot darker, given the time of day, but that at least was easy to deal with thanks to night vision. Alright. Time to sneak around. Be all... stealthy and stuff. And so, he began to wander about.
It.. actually didn't take him too long before he found the place. Jake was already here from the looks of things. He didn't hear any alarms go off, so that in itself was a good sign.

Ami nodded to the trainees as they ran off, secretly worried about Stormy back at the base. She really hoped the girl would find her way through.
Though she saw the signs to the display, Ami decided to lollygag a little bit. It was irresponsible of her, maybe, but she did want to see some of the books they had here in the library. Maybe there were some rare ones she didn't already own!
Unfortunately, she'd wandered into the motherhood section. Well this was absolutely useless.

The next section was all about myths and monsters.
Well she definitely wasn't staying here. Junpei already rattled off in her head about their monsters, and they had all the reference texts they needed back home.
Where was the classical section?!

Footsteps. They didn't have the stealthy finesse of the hunters' shoes. Instead they were heavy clunks on the tiles. A flashlight was shining inches from the room she was in.
Guards.
She crawled up onto a bookshelf, trying to keep herself totally silent as she ran around the guard. Once she reached another room, she let out a heavy breath of relief. It would be embarrassing if she'd been caught when she was the leader!

From the top of the bookshelves, the only way to another room without alerting the guards was through the vents. She gave a grimace. Ami hated beind dirty, and hated dust.
For a moment she considered asking Gale if there was any other way, but with a guard sounding behind her she knew there wasn't. Into the vent she went, frowning and trying not to cough.
Partway through she realized it wasn't so bad. She'd waded through the sewers of Deus Ex, and honestly compared to that? This wasn't so bad. The latex suit was actually keeping quite a bit of it off her as well. She'd just have to heavily brush herself off once she got out.

Once she hopped out of the vents, she found herself back in a guard-less room, filled with books. Mmmm.
She was just going to take a moment or two longer to peruse.

She had a few books in her arms by the time she remembered why she was even here. Right. With an embarrassed frown she put the books back on the shelf, a forlorn longing on her eyes. Maybe she'd schedule another mission here. A "mission." Yes.
A large map was posted on the wall where all the displays were. She quickly darted off, sneaking into the room.
Where she found three of the six trainees already waiting. "Y-Yes," she said with an embarrassing cough, "Sorry to keep you all waiting. I had to ... take a few precautions."
Yes that was totally it.
"We'll wait here for everyone. I want to be sure of everyone's location before we start trying to crack this thing."

More prompt. Okay. Ami got a nod of acknowledgement in return for her reprimand. Evan certainly wasn't going to argue with her. This was her show, after all. He listened attentively during the briefing, even when Gir proclaimed it /BOOOOOOOO-ring~/ after hearing that all they were going to was break into a library and steal some book.
It was hard to feel at all intimidated by such a tiny, tiny girl, but Evan could at least follow her orders--she was the one in charge, after all--and he had every intention of doing so. The portal, however, had other ideas, spitting him out in an abandoned hallway all by himself. Not a problem, it was only a library, he should have no problem catching up. His boots didn't make a sound on the floor as he proceeded cautiously down the hall, which was why he could hear the footsteps of a security guard coming towards him. It would only take a second to disable them, but Ami had emphasized stealth. Evan cursed under his breath as he headed back the way he came.

Evan went into the first open doorway he came across, curious about what might be inside. All he saw were walls full of books and old paintings. While it was an impressive collection, he probably wouldn't find the Codex in here. After a quick scan of the room, he moved on.

No sooner had Evan set foot outside the room than he saw a guard turn the corner. Cursing under his breath, Evan withdrew back into the room, pressing himself against the wall until he heard the guard pass by.

Evan paused at the next hallway he came across, frowning as their mission control yelled something about...lasers? He squinted into the darkness, and yup, there they were, ready and waiting for him to trigger them. He really wasn't built for the kind of finesse traversing the grid would require, but he couldn't turn back now, either.

/Don't trip,/ Gir said unhelpfully as Evan contorted his body in ways he was pretty sure it wasn't meant to bend in an effort to get through the laser grid without setting anything off.
"Shut up," Evan muttered through gritted teeth. Somehow, he had almost made it through, but he couldn't keep his balance much longer. It was only through sheer luck that he didn't touch any of the lasers when he finally stumbled his way out of the grid.
