"s**t."

The curse barely left his lips before Athan was able to draw his sword across his body horizontally. The arrow's head deflected off the flat end of the blade with a slight spark, disappearing off somewhere into the darkness.

"Get back here!"

The guy was obviously hiding something. Athan was going to find out what. Even if he had to beat it out of both halves.

Sword in hand, Athan darted up the stairs, chasing after the centaur about as fast as his muscles could allow. His reunion with Kit would have to wait.

"Oh no, not again..." Kit said, dusting himself up and getting to his feet. He chased after the two, not wanting to lose them again, but at a jog, get his legs warmed up again. This whole thing seemed promising.

Cursing himself, Coll sped toward the copse behind the building, galloping along at over 30 miles per hour. He yelled back at his pursuers, "May the Fates thwart you in all that you do!"

"Yeah well, may the Fates send you to a GLUE FACTORY!"

Frustrated, and not really coming any closer to the centaur, Athan resorted to the last thing he could do.

He hefted his sword as if it were a javelin, took two long strides, and tossed the weapon like a spear. The mercury inside the weapon would be naturally pulled down to the front end of the sword as it reached its peak, meaning that the weapon would bury its point into the ground.

There was no aim involved, just sheer brute force. Athan had intended to plant the sword just in front of the galloping centaur, but if it just so happened to go through the fleeing creature, well, he'd work around it.

"Hey! I know some of the fates! Don't make fun of them!" Kit yelled, going faster now. He had to catch up, each one of them were going very fast, if he didn't do anything, he'd be bored again.

That's the last thing he wanted.

Deft ears picking up the sound of his assailant chucking... something, Coll glanced over his shoulder and swerved to the side just as he reached the line of trees. ... glue factory? What in the name of the heavens is that? he thought as he disappeared into the shadows of the trees and thick brush.

The sword stuck itself into the ground, burying halfway up to the blade before it finally stopped. Athan cursed to himself, still in mid-run.

He wasn't going to give up that easily. His left hand extended, snatching the weapon up as he ran towards the forest.

"Kit! If you have anything up your sleeve, I recommend you use it!"

Athan barrelled past the treeline. It was practically impossible to see anything, but how hard was it to follow a twelve foot centaur?

"Give me a moment, I'll get em', just try and keep up!" Kit yelled, searching his bag for a spare leaf. He hastily took one out, they needed speed at the moment, So if he was going to get anywhere through the forests, it's time for a change.

Kit put the leaf on his head and a huge poof of smoke appeared, and through the smoke, a little fox appeared from the cloud, streams of smoke trailing it's body. He swiftly doged the tree trunks and vines of the forest, that centaur wasn't going anywhere without him getting there first!

Finally in his natural element, Coll deftly (and nearly silently) weaved among the trees, nocking another spelled arrow. He didn't know why these people were chasing him, but he knew that he would not go down without a fight.

"Alright, so we follow the fox."

It was almost like they were hunting. Except the prey happened to have a bow, arrow, and the element of surprise. Athan's sword remained held at his side.

If this lead happened to lead to nothing, well, he was going to be pretty frustrated.

"Just stop running already! It's pretty much inevitable now!"

Kit was dashing through the bushes, he was trying to find the centaur, but he was kinda short at the time, the most he'll see of that huge thing wouold be the horse legs of the centaur. Hopefully Athan could help him a little, there was so much he could do in this form. He went forward, deftly going through the branches and bushes.

Coll declined to reply, though the shout did let him know exactly where his pursuer was. He headed in the opposite direction at a quicker pace than before, the patches of moss muffling the sound of his hooves. As he ran, he whispered a minor spell of hiding. At this point, anything at all could help.

Athan drew a deep breath into his lungs, continuing his pursuit. Kit was helping quite a bit, he didn't need to bother looking around too much, and all he had to do was simply follow the smoke trail as fast as his legs could carry him.

Sweat began to form around his brow, falling down the length of his chin and dripping off. This was getting far too hectic.

Damn this guy is fast.

Kit jumped on top of a rock and saw the trail, of crushed sticks and flattened bushes. They were on the right trail. He followed that path and ran through it. Something that big shouldn't be this hard to track, but its kinda difficult. Just a few more feet and they'll get through. The smoke started to fade, but Kit didn't worry, the path will be visable.

Coll happened upon a small thicket, which was currently inhabited by a number of sleeping and ruminating deer. Bowing serenely to the ones still awake, he made his way to the center of the group and folded his legs beneath him. He set his pack and weapons on the ground, but left a hand on them. After he settled himself for a moment, he bowed at the waist so that his upper half was hidden between a pair of large bucks. His equine portion had the same general coloring as the deer, and he hoped that his hiding place would shield him until he could find a more adequate haven.
