Vollerei chucked at Tau but let the topic drop as she looked about. They built their homes on the ground, which was weird to her. Of course, it's not like they had any large trees about here for them to build in, but it was still a strange thing to see buildings littering the ground. As to where she should go? Food! Anyplace where she could get tasty new food! Something he hadn't eaten before.
"Well, where do you serve food? I'd like to taste some Earthling food. I know what Shifters tend to eat cause they live like us in the jungle and hunt from the same areas, but I have no clue what's food out here in this flat dry land." She gave him a measured look as he showed signs of nervousness. Where had all the cocky attitude gone?
Why was he so nervous? She wasn't going to go rampaging about she just wanted to get fed?

Tau tried to shake his nerves; this couldn't possibly be that bad of an idea. Well, he hadn't ever seen any Alkidike roaming through town, and he didn't really know how many of the others had seen an Alkidike in person either, but he was there to protect them. That should give most of them comfort, even if it were just the women.
He cleared his throat and put a smirk back on his face. "Well then, let's go this way." He pointed in the direction of the inn he had been thinking of earlier; probably the easiest place to get a warm meal and a place where he probably wouldn't get in trouble with his mother. "There's a place on the other edge of the village that serves food to travelers, and I'm guessing they would be more than happy to feed you."
He put on his strut and sauntered through the village with Vollerei. He could only imagine that the others were openly gaping, though he refused to look and make himself look any less sure than he already was.

Vollerei ran her hand through the Kinfa's soft feathers. She followed Tau as he sauntered off in a direction. Looking about she smiled to herself: houses on the ground! What a funny sight... though they certainly couldn't' out them in any of those dinky things they called trees, they were much too small, but still. It was an odd sight. Hopefully this place Tau was leading her too would serve tasty food!
"What's this place called? The village and the food place?" She asked curiously. Her people named their businesses and towns, did Earthlings do the same?
As they walked through she saw a few startled glances but nothing too ominous or threatening. Quite a few smirks and shaken heads though... She wondered if those were directed at her or Tau...

Tau nodded to those as he passed them, sauntering all the way. He had to admit, he was ridiculously nervous to be leading an Alkidike around the village. Before today he hadn't even met an Alkidike face to face, and he most definitely hadn't seen once. He couldn't help but wonder who else in the village had never seen as Alkidike.
He would assume it would be the ones giving startled looks; Tau in himself wasn't something that would cause such silly things.
Tau scratched his head, brushing his hair away from his face as he did. "Well, our village is called Yera. It's the farthest east there is until Jauhar, hence why we actually have an inn of sorts. A lot of travelers come through here on their way one direction or another. But as far as I know the inn doesn't have a name. It's just there for who ever needs it. We don't really have names for our buildings here since there's really only one of each, so there can't really be confusion." He said all of this in one long rant and somewhat condescendingly. Of course she wouldn't know that names aren't necessary in this sort of situation. Though he had to wonder if she was from some place large enough to need names. How dinky did there town look to her?

Vollerei shook her head at his tone. This thin male had an attitude problem it seemed. Well so did she so what did it matter? She was hungry and wanted food! Preferably something new.
"Yera? Nice enough name for the place. Hope the food's good. Right Zwielicht? Bet you're hungry too." She held up the baby kinfa and called him by the name she'd decided on for him. It was a random name but she liked it.

Tau looked confused for a second at the name. Who...? Oh, yeah. That bird. He scratched his head as she held it up and practically cooed to it. Women. "Zwielicht, huh? That's an interesting name. How would you even spell that?" He shrugged his shoulders. "Not that that's important."
His stomach let out a gurgle and he moved his hands to cover it. That seemed about right. Really, he hadn't eaten anything since that morning, so it was no wonder he was hungry. "Ehhh, let's go then. I need food too." He laughed and lead the rest of the way to the inn, only stopping when he reached the open door.
The fires from the kitchen steamed up the inside of the place, so they left all of their windows and doors open at all times. It was one of the few buildings that were left on ground level, for one because it was so big, and two, it needed a place to build and keep a fire, something that seemed too stupid dangerous to do up in the trees. "We're here." Tau announced, letting his feet come to a halt.
"My Mother's making food for me though, so I guess this is where I leave you." He looked up at the sun. "Yep. It seems to be about that time."

Vollerei smelled meat roasting and grinned. It smelled sooo good! Plus it had an unfamiliar scent to it, new spices perhaps? She heard Tau's stomach gurgle and poked him.
"Go eat something skinny one! You need more meat on you!" With that she waved and headed into the the building, her stomach rumbling and the baby kinfa looking interested in the new surrounds and smells.
