His lip curled as she did this, his fur trying to stand on the back of his neck. Dammit they had been doing so well and now she had to prove to be an annoyance... again. "Last time I did that.." He trailed off with a hiss. "Forget it, fine." He turned after a minute, heading Taabu's way. He didn't know how to act with cubs, and that was simply that. "So, how have you been faring?" He murmered as he got closer to Taabu.

He sputtered as the voice came through his concentration, causing him to jump and land rather undaintifully in a mud puddle. He coughed, wiping the mud from his maw as he tried to see who it was through the water and soil cluttering his eyes. "Err, I'm ok," came the soft voice, still coughing a bit to get the taste of grimy earth from his tongue. "Been playing with my little aunts and nephews," he grinned, tail flicking as he stood and tried to shake the mess off, "they're younger than me, do you believe that?" Oh, he was being nice, as long as Uumi didn't get emo like he did last time. That sort of thing depressed him.

Uumi snorted as his son fell into the mud, things like that amused him. At least he didn't burst out laughing, right? He listened to his reply, trying to keep a bored look from his features. "Don't you mean --" Oh forget it, what was the difference between uncles and nephews anyhow?

"Er, I mean... younger, eh? I only have one aunt, that i've met anyhow. She's much older than me. Are they fun to play with?" This was continuing to make him feel awkward, to be talking to something he helped (er. sort of helped?) bring into the world. He slowly sat himself, tail flicking uneasily back and forth. His gaze was on the ground just before little Taabu.

He frowned as he heared the first few words, even though the older male did not finish his sentance. Immediately, his mind began to think over what he had said, eyebrows narrowed on nothing as the wheel of his mind began to turn. Then, with a satisfied smile, he nodded, "yes. I meant Uncles."

He turned his back to the red lion prince, looking around hopelessly for the cricket he had been playing with before his father had come to speak to him. "They're fun sometimes," he murmured, "except when I'm there too long. They can get annoying then, silly things, none of them have but half a brain.." he sounded almost exactly like his mother, her tone and everything, then glanced up at him suspiciously, "like that day a few weeks ago." Wasn't blaming him - in fact, Taabu didn't know if his mom had been with Uumi or not, he was just making a guess.

Uumi blinked, head tilting. The corners of his mouth twitched, as if he wanted to smile. But he kept that in check. So Sye was right, he was rather intelligent. Or at least able to figure things out when people cut off. Normal lions just got lazy and let things like that go.

Well sure, Taabu wasn't blaming him... but he still felt like he was being blamed. "Ah, my fault I'm afraid.." He muttered, glancing to Taabu and letting his mind wander. His tail flicked slightly and he shifted in his spot, glancing to Sye from the corner of his eye. How long did things like these last? He wanted to be on his way, Taabu made him nervous.

He smirked, amused, as Uumi fessed up to it. He wasn't as unkind as his mother could be when trying to figure things out, but of course, he still had his ways of twisting words. What kind of world would it be if he didn't inherit that? "I figured," he murmured, though, there was a smile on his lips. "She doesn't do that for everyone," he breathed, slowly sitting - away from the mud - and speaking about a conversation her had overheard with Gamma and Syeira. Gamma had been quite pissed that his momma was so late getting back to get him. No wonder, those cubs were wild.

MM, he was a lot like Sye. Nothing like himself, obviously. Uumi didn't spend enough time for Taabu to be anything like him personality wise. Though the sickness was verymuch like him, not like that was the best thing you could inheriet. He finally turned his head away, to see if he could see Sye. She'd escaped the edges of his vision. His head swung slowly the other way, as something very close to panic welled up within his chest. He took a few raspy breaths, wondering where the hell she was. No, this wasn't right! He couldn't be left alone with a cub! He wasn't ... quite capable of taking care of things. Or so he told himself. He frowned lightly and huffed, trying to replace the panic with anger.

"Oh, but perhaps your mother hasn't found others in that situation. You know?" He murmered, looking back to Taabu. "So you can't know that she doesn't do it for everyone, seeing as the only two lions she knows that easily get sick are you and I. Right?" Well that made more sense in Uumi's mind than thinking Sye would actually care for him because she liked him better than some random lion.

He had followed Uumi's gaze, and because he was shorted - he couldn't really see as far as the red lion. Still, he figured by his reaction that Syeira was no where to be seen. How like his mum, sending him over here and disappearing - not because she didn't want to take care of him, but because she wanted to force Uumi and Taabu to spend time together. Sneaky lioness.

Though, at his words, he huffed immediately - throwing himself into the defensive, "I don't get sick that easily," he muttered. Well, he did, but this part of his attitude was rather like Uumi - Syeira never defended herself against what others said, Uumi well.. Uumi did. Deep down, the kid probably had a short fuse, at least on certain topics.

"ANd you know mum just as well as I do, Uumi," he breathed out, the name on his tongue rather foreign and uncomfortable to say, "she'd leave half of the lion population lying there."

He blinked, guessing he'd jumped the gun too soon on his thoughts. Though it was hard to think the only thing he gave of his personality was his anger... and somewhat amusing. How different could Uumi have turned out? And for that matter, Taabu. "I didn't say you got sick that easily. I just said you get sick easily as compared to other lions." Hmm, that was almost as if he was contradicting himself.

"Well unless she had something to be gained by helping them." He muttered, more to himself than to Taabu. He took no notice to how uncomfortable his name sounded on the little cub's voice. "Well whatever. She helped me because she wanted to." He shrugged, agreeing.

He made a rather adorable little face at Uumi, despite it being one of a somewhat upset origin. When cubs got angry or irritated, it was amusing, and on Taabu - well, his poutiness just made the little coffee furball adorable. "Yes," he murmured quietly, dropping his eyes away from Uumi, "but it's not my fault." His tail flicked and he stared at his paws, frowning some. Poor adorable little thing.

With a soft grin returning, spreading his little maw until the corner turned up in a wicked amusement of accomplishment, he let his eyes move up to gaze into those that mirrored them perfectly, "exactly. She helped you cause she likes you," he nodded with the words, tail flicking back and forth rather energetically.

Aww, Syeira likes Uumi. How childly put.

"Yes, I'm afraid it wasn't your fault. Mine, to be more percise." His words were dry, though not on Taabu's behalf, he was just sort of upset he sent his shitty genes to the cub.

He was fine at staring into the gems that matched his own, so like staring into his own twins or into a reflection.. though they held different emotions than his or his twins. But at the words his eyes flicked away and he let out a short growl. "Right, is that what she's been trying to show all this time?" He sneered slightly, staring moodly off into the distance. Where was Uumi's quick retort of 'well i don't like her?

He ignored the dry way he talked about passing on his genes, the little cub giving nothing more than a small little shrug of his shoulder blades, "not your fault, you didn't make me sick on purpose," he murmured - glancing away.

Though, at his next moody response he could only giggle - wondering how a lion that had spent so much time around his mother could not see the way her mind worked. "You're smarter enough to see it if you really look," he murmured, though his eyes were already following another bug - narrowed slightly on the hard glinting back of a wbeetle, "she had funny ways of showing things sometimes."

Maybe I don't want to see it. The first thought that popped into his mind when little Taabu said this. He shook his head a little to rid himself of it, frowning uncertainly down at his paws. "Perhaps, perhaps." He said, quietly.

His gaze flicked back to the cub, watching him follow the beatle. Damn, wasn't this long enough to spend with the cub? His tail gave a little flick, and his head tilted as he continued to watch this play. "Why do you choose games like that if they get you short of breath?" He couldn't help himself, he was curious as to why anyone with the same conditions he, himself, has had would want to play games that increased the risk of an attack.

The actual question had caught Taabu a little off guard, perhaps the fact that he hadn't even realized he was watching the bug was what did it. Though, he was counting, every little inch that the thing went - and when his father ask him the question, he lost count on an odd number. That made him want to jab at himself. Odd numbers were bad, everything should be even and equally balanced. So, without answering him for a moment, he watched the bug and counted until it reached that same number again - then with a deep breath, he turned his eyes back up to see the red lion.

"Because, momma always told me not to let my sickness ruin my life. She said to fight through it and it would get better," he nodded, apparently, he liked to quote his mom. Like some wise scholar would quote an old prophet. "Mom said that if I let my sickness stop me from doing the things I love, then I wouldn't be living a life at all," he purred out, tail flicking as he gazed past the lion - towards where this beloved mother had been seen last. "And she's right. If I stopped doing something I wanted to every time I got a little wheezy, then I'd never have any fun." Course, he did stop if it got really bad, but his mom never blamed him for that. She just held him til it went away and it wasn't very often that it got too bad anyway - not like she said his daddy's did.

Uumi waited for the reply, tail slowly flicking back and forth. His lids lowered half way as the cub went into his little speech, and Uumi inwardly groaned. How could you love anything that made you sick? Was what he wanted to ask, but he shouldn't push it. "Hmm, well then I say she's very intelligent in telling you that." Was all he muttered, twisting his head a little to let his gaze flick to where Taabu was looking. Perhaps Sye had returned? Ah, no such luck.
