"I see. If you'd ever like to test out that theory, Miss Sally, I have more than enough buttons to experiment with," Alfred offered.

Sally hummed and nodded. ~I think it sounds like a lovely idea. And... You're sure you wouldn't mind, with the recent stitching you'll have to pull out?~ She was honestly curious. It scared her, though... What if it didn't work and she lost what vision she had? Would reattatching the original buttons fix that? But, she'd worry about it later. As long as she was spending time with an amiable tone, she'd be happy.

"It wouldn't be the first time I've had to do so. The master's daughter used to be so fickle about her dresses..." Ah, that had been such a wonderful time. The master and his family had filled the mansion's many rooms. But one by one the children moved out, and then the master passed... The mansion was left empty besides him. The company of another living creature was more joyful to him than Sally realized.

Sally chuckled and nodded, kicking her hooves up for a moment before setting them down again. ~Well, then... Lead the way, Maestro.~ She tossed her head at him lightly, playfully. ~Take me to your buttons!~ She was joking, but she couldn't remember where she'd heard such an odd turn of phrase. Must have been a two-legger thing she'd heard in the stable. ~So... Were your Master and the others... Humans?~

Alfred cracked a smile and dipped his head. "Very well, Miss Sally." He led her up to the door that led into the mansion from the garden, which had been modified so that Azrien could easily move between the two. "... Yes, they were."

She caught the hesitation in his voice, dipping her head respectfully and letting go the topic. ~So... You think another color might fix my issue, Alfred the Butler?~ She hummed, smiling as she followed him.

"I believe it's a viable possibility," Alfred replied. "Your current eyes are made from black buttons, and although you can see, you can only see in black and white. Maybe buttons of a different color would allow you to see those colors. Perhaps white would allow you to see all of them?"

Sally nodded softly, thinking the idea sound. She would let him pick the color, imagining he would know better than she. For, although she was created by magic, she knew little of her own, let alone how altering the form might alter her perspective. She sat, again, when they found the room, to let the stallion do his work.

Alfred carefully removed Sally's black button eyes, setting them aside where they wouldn't be misplaced or mixed with the other buttons. He sorted through them, thinking. White sounded like a good idea, but what if it made her completely blind? But would any other type of button have the chance of giving her all of the colors? His gaze eventually fell on a couple of clear buttons. Of course! The black buttons let her see only black and white, so maybe clear buttons would allow her to see clearly. He went over to her, sewed on the new buttons, and stepped back. "How is that, Miss Sally?"

Sally had been sitting so quiet through the whole process, she might almost have reverted to being a doll again. When Alfred cut the thread and stepped back, her head tilted, just slightly, in an almost mechanical way, as though she were clockwork and gears had ground together to cause the motion. The buttons shifted in the light as she looked about, adjusting to the new vision. The blotch of brown she'd seen before was now a slightly dimmed form with a slight waver to it, still of brown.
She could make out the shading on his dark outfit much easier, now, and the other things in the room surprised her, mostly by having color. Some of their shapes wove in and out a little, but she would get used to that; the motion was slow, anyways. She smiled up at him and pushed to her hooves. ~Well, as with anything, I will have to try it and see, won't I?~ She smiled only wider, tossing her head towards the door. ~Let us go find some flowers and see how they look.~

Alfred smiled and nodded politely. "Of course. Right this way, Miss Sally." He led the mare back through the hallways and out to the garden. He hoped his theory worked; how sad it must have been to not be able to enjoy the colors of spring--or anything else, for that matter.

Sally followed like a child, glancing about the hallway and the rest of the house as they went, taking in the dim colors as though they held the same light Alfred's coat did. Azrein were still the brightest things in her world, if the butler was any indication, but there was so much more to take in, now, and, wobbly forms or not, Sally was determined to-
There was a thud as she sideswiped a doorframe with her shoulder. She didn't seem to notice more than a stumble in her step, though, used to running into things when they 'moved' in front of her. She just went back to taking it all in.
When she stepped outside, she ducked her head softly, the effect of sunlight and the multitude of colors offering a shock to her brain that activated instincts she didn't know she had. After all, dolls don't have worry about color stimulation, and she was getting a colored view for the first time.
~Alfred... They're lovely...~ She hummed, nuzzling the nearest colorful bud softly and looking up at him. ~Are they as fragrant as they are colorful?~

Alfred turned when he heard the mare bump into something, but since she continued without so much as a surprised exclamation, he let it slide. He contently watched her take in the newly colored sights, trotting casually alongside her. "Indeed they are, Miss Sally." She couldn't smell them? Maybe it was similar to the button eyes; maybe the way her nose had been made didn't allow for smell. But could he fix that?

Sally smiled up at Alfred and caught a glimpse of the question in his own. The new forms and colors weren't solid, but Azrein were still the most dependable thing in her buttons. She took a guess at the identity of his concern, raising her head softly. ~My friend, I'm afraid my eyesight may be the only sense you'll have much influence over. Voodoo dolls are not made to see, and I feel privelaged to have that much.~
~Honestly, it's a wonder I move at all. And I owe you many thanks for improving upon my design.~ She gave a deep bow to the stallion, smiling up at him when she stood again.

"I wish I could do more, Miss Sally. Bringing joy to others is something I very much enjoy doing." He bowed as well. "I am happy to help, Miss Sally. And I am glad you can move; otherwise we would not be having this lovely conversation."
