Kaitou's brows lifted for the moment, but other than that, his expression was fairly unreadable as he stared at the two.
"Engaged? Well that certainly is a surprising turn of events," he said in a somewhat light tone. But he soon narrowed in on Shun, and spoke a little more sharply, "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. All this time I've tried to teach you about the dangers of such... ties. And you go off and make them anyway."
The older man leaned back and let out a heavy sigh.
"The best way to harm someone is to target those closest to them. Do you not recall these words?"
Shun caught the glance Mitsu gave, but he just reached over and gripped her hand. It was bound to come out sooner or later. They were just going to have to face it now.
"I remember, yes. But it makes no difference," he said calmly, "As I said before, she stays with me. If anything happens to her, I will personally cut them down."
Including Kaitou. Though that part was left unsaid.
The older reaper sneered, "You've got a soft heart now."

Taking hold of Shun's hand again Mitsu's gaze drifted to the floor before she dared to look at Kaitou again. His reaction was not unexpected but it still rubbed her all the wrong way. Her ears pressed back in irritation, the grip on Shun's hand getting a little tighter.
She wanted to snap at Kaitou and tell him he was wrong but she didn't think it would be wise. It would probably be best if she left the talking up to Shun but she didn't believe emotions made a person soft or weak. In ways it made them stronger but that was because perhaps they had more to lose. Having something to go back to, something to fight for often motivated a person to try a little harder. That wasn't to say there wasn't a risk. Sure there was a grain of truth in what the older reaper said. They would be each other's weakness but they would also be each other's strength.

Shun's eye narrowed at the older man before them. He was aware of the handful of others in the room, but he still ignored them. They were all being silent anyway, just watching the interaction here.
"You're wrong. I can fight harder because of her."
He knew what Kaitou was trying to say there, and while there was some truth to it, there was more to it than being a weak point for one another. As far as the older Kuroda went, he glared at the younger as he leaned forward onto his desk once again. For some time, father and son were there in silence, exchanging daggers through their gazes.
"We'll see about that. Your apparent resolve amuses me though. One day though, you'll see the wisdom in my words. You'll have learned it the hard way. Don't say I didn't warn you," he said darkly.
"You better not try anything."
"Now why would I do such a thing to my one and only son? I'm sure there are plenty of those out in the world who would try such things without you needing to worry about your own father," Kaitou replied simply. There was some truth to his words for once. He was intrigued by this turn of events. Quite frankly, he hadn't thought the boy was capable of making any friends, let alone find someone who would want to marry him. He'd have to see just how this would go. It was all a matter of amusement. Shun could only frown at this. While he was glad that the older man wouldn't try and pull something on him, he didn't exactly like the way he was speaking either. He had nothing to say to that in return, and instead just waited to hear what else was to be said. In the meantime, he just clenched onto his fiancee's hand a little more.
"Which brings us to why we're here. Despite all the troubles that your school seems to run into, whether they be true or not, you've managed to survive. Perhaps you aren't as useless as I thought you were originally. Of course, you could still use some more work. I originally was thinking of punishing you for getting five of my men arrested with the whole ordeal with the horsemen, but quite frankly, if they were stupid enough to get caught, then they don't belong here anyway."

If Mitsu didn't know better she would have considered that a threat. Scratch that, she was going to go ahead and consider it a threat. Especially after Shun's little warning to Kaitou not to try anything. Should she be worried now? Would Shun's father really try to get rid of her to teach his son a lesson? It just stacked onto her worries. She already didn't feel all that safe before because of the Hunters but now there were other threats within Halloween.
Taking a slow calming breath Mitsu tried not to zone out into a safe place in her mind like she had a tendency to do. It probably wouldn't look all that great if she proved to be a space case in front of his father.
Listening closely to Kaitou Mitsu wondered what his point was. He failed to make one and Mitsu was afraid to ask.

Shun narrowed his eyes at that, waiting a little longer to see if Kaitou was going to say anything else on the matter. There wasn't anything immediately.
"So then what's to happen?" he eventually asked.
"I'll allow you back into our ranks, but you'll have to start from the bottom. Again, you are my one and only son so I figured I should extend a little bit of generosity. Prove your worth and you may even take over one day," Kaitou said rather nonchalantly.
"What if I decline?" the younger Reaper said.
"Really now. Where would you go otherwise? You really aren't good for much. You would have to rely completely on your lovely lady to get by. You wouldn't want to burden her like that now would you? But I see even a choice like this is a bit difficult for you. I'll give you a day to think about it. For now? You're dismissed. Shiro. See them out."
The older reaper on the side bowed, before he went to escort the two students out of the office as instructed.

When being talked down to herself Mitsu was often very timid and didn't know how to handle the abuse. When someone she cared about was being talked down to being timid was the last thing on her mind. Her petite body stood a little straighter and her crimson eyes narrowed at the older reaper. She could feel her anger boiling up, anger that she could somewhat control before but being reserved for so long all her fear and frustration just came out all at once in the form of a snarl.
"You take that back it isn't true." Mitsu growled, standing her ground as the man named Shiro approached. "Shun has far more skills than you give him credit for." She would probably regret this later and in a big way but she was already tired of his father putting him down when he hadn't even seen his progress in the last year. Was he truly blind or did he enjoy beating his own son down mentally?

Kaitou's eyes focused in on Mitsu, surprised to hear her growl back like that. A sort of smug expression fell upon his features. It seemed that he was amused to see the little wolf become fiesty.
"Looks like you have some bite after all. Though, why should I take it back. As his father, don't I have the right to judge him however?" he asked. He didn't sound angry. But there was a sense of mocking in the way he spoke, "The boy went as far as to lose an eye. An injury that should have healed normally given the way Halloween works."
Shun had fallen silent for now, as he looked between Kaitou and Mitsu. At the moment, he wasn't entirely certain what to say.

A deeper part of Mitsu wanted to show Kaitou what kind of bite she actually had but she was at least about to control her violent urges for now. Still, she couldn't just stand by quietly as Shun took this verbal abuse and the older reaper's amusement did little to ease her mood.
"No." She said in a soft tone to his question. "He's a person not a piece of property that you can abuse how you like. And if its a father's right perhaps you should act like one because as far as I have seen you are anything but one." She really wasn't thinking about the things coming out of her mouth, her anger was blinding her as she moved to face the older Kuroda though she didn't approach his desk.

"Mitsu..." Shun said quietly. It had been a long time since he had seen her so angry. But.. as far as the abuse was, he was used to it. There was no changing his father when it came to that.
"I act well enough. I fed him. Raised him. Trained him," he said, getting up slowly and making his way around the desk. Stopping before the two, he looked between them, still seemingly amused, "And yet now, the seemingly timid little girl has more fight in her than my son. I have to wonder what you'd do to make me change my mind."
"Back off," the younger reaper said lowly, stepping forward.
"Well this is cute. You two really do defend one another. I will not take back anything I've said though. Now. Out of my office."

Mitsu's ears fell back though it was hard to say if it was out of fear or anger. Her gaze had remained rather intense as the older Kuroda approached but her posture became guarded. "That's a caretaker, not a father. There is a difference." And Mitsu knew, oh how she knew the difference. Anyone could have fed him and raised him but it took more than showing a child how to fight to be a father but Mitsu knew it would be difficult to explain.
At Kaitou's final word to get out of his office Mitsu hesitated for a moment before she reached for Shun's hand. Staying here would only fuel this odd sense of anger she was feeling and she feared it would only get more out of hand. So many ideas were racing though her mind. Violent thoughts she had never had before.
"Shun..." Her voice was soft, just enough to get his attention. It was time to go and not because Kaitou wanted them to but because she needed to before her anger hit a new level. She could feel it coming.

Catching his name, Shun turned towards Mitsu and nodded, taking her hand. He then began to move towards the exit. Shiro followed after, seeing how he was to escort them anyway. Once they were out of the office, the older reaper let out a sigh.
"Damn that man..." the younger Kuroda muttered now they were out.
"Why don't I buy you two some dinner?" he asked amiably, though suddenly, "There's... something I'd like to discuss with you two."

Once outside the office there was a little bit of relief. The tension began to ease just enough so that her mind wasn't swimming with rage. What had come over her? "I...I'm sorry." She hadn't meant to snap and go crazy she just didn't like the way his father was talking to him. Though it was probably none of her business.
When she heard Shiro speak up behind them Mitsu tilted her head back just enough to look at the man, taking a step closer to Shun. The man didn't seem all that bad but Mitsu was not in a trusting state as of late and this place wasn't helping. She wasn't sure she wanted to hear what this man had to say.

Hearing her apology, Shun shook his head.
"Don't apologize... There.. aren't many who would stand up for me against Kaitou," he said quietly. As far as Shiro's offer went, he looked up at the older man. Thinking about it, he just let out a sigh.
"Very well."
"I'll take you somewhere nice. The place has some really good noodles," Shiro said with a smile, "Come follow me. It's not too far from here."
Nodding, the older man guided them into the elevator, then went on out of the building. Shun gripped onto Mitsu's hand gently, trying to get her to relax. Looking into her eyes for a moment, he soon went off to follow Shiro. He wanted to know what he had to say.

The promise of noodles was hardly enough to make her feel better but Shun was already following so she didn't have much of a choice.
Quietly she fell into step beside Shun, her eyes focused on her steps more than anything else. It was only briefly that she looked up to catch Shun's gaze before she looked away. Was he really going to work with his father again? Did he really believe he was suited for nothing else? She quietly thought over what had happened in Kaitou's office as well as the odd sense of anger. Mitsu had never felt so angry before over something small like verbal abuse. Was there something wrong with her? Though what wasn't wrong really? Since her incident on the Hunter's Island it had been a struggle to be herself.

While Shiro lead the way, Shun kept fairly silent as he walked along with Mitsu. His gaze shifted over towards her now and then to try and get an idea of what was going through her mind, but he was having trouble figuring it out at the moment. But, after some time of walking, the older reaper had stopped and opened the door to this place.
"..."
Shun looked around and realized that he recognized this particular restaurant. He supposed he should have known considering Shiro mentioned a place with good noodles, but he did recall enjoying the food here quite a bit.
"Order whatever you'd like," Shiro offered once they had all seated at their table. There weren't too many others in here at the time.
"Alright," the grim replied before glancing to Mitsu. The place had a variety of different sorts of ramen, udon, and soba. Along with a few other things.
